Fable II Pub Games News Flash, Tips and Tricks!

Here are some gameplay tips and tricks for the Fable II Pub Games, as well as more info on debt in Fable II and the Pub Games. If you are wondering about a 'much talked about' exploit, just ignore it (and know that a patch is on the way). I've got about 800 gold now, managed to build up to 2100 but paid off some debt. Could just as well have taken it on the chin and do community service for that crime... Surprise [:O]

Some general tips:

  • Better tables, better odds: While all of these games have a slight long-term advantage for the house, you might easily win money in the short term. But if you don’t, there’s no need to despair. Once you unlock the higher-limit tables, you’ll have a better chance to earn back your money in a few lucky hands. Or, if you’re a conservative player, you can earn money by playing in tournaments.
  • Tournaments: Every tournament is a “rich” game, meaning that on average, players will win more gold than they put in. This is because, along with the tournament buy-ins, the house adds extra gold to the tournament prize! In addition, you can win unique items by placing “in the money” in each of the 15 tournaments: this is an even greater value in the world of Fable II.
  • Tournaments: Tournaments are played against computer opponents. You can win gold in tournaments, even free tournaments, because the house always adds a little extra gold to sweeten the pot. In addition, you can also win amazing items that you can’t buy anywhere else in Albion.

Game tips that might help:

  • Free Money: The house always adds money to the prize pool of a tournament, which means you have a G o o d [Good] chance to come out ahead.
  • Play a Tournament: The top five finishers in any tournament get a cash prize... and a unique Fable II item!
  • Borrowing Chips: You always borrow chips when you join a game. If you win, you cash out with your winnings. If you lose, you add to your debt.
  • Debt: Having a large debt in the Fable® II Pub Games won’t hurt you, but owing too much money is considered a crime in Fable II. Nothing too nasty or annoying when you play the game...so don't panic! 

KeyStone:

  • Improve Your Odds!: The odds in Keystone are better at the high-limit tables. Unlock new tables to improve your odds.
  • Odds Chart: You can see the odds of every bet on the table by holding down the left trigger.

FortuneTower:

  • Improve your Odds: For better odds, look for the decks with fewer number cards; this makes the Heroes more likely to be dealt!
  • Taking a Loss: As painful as it feels, sometimes cashing out with a slight loss is the best play.

SpinnerBox:

  • Bonus Symbols: Some machines have bonus games: free spins, payout multipliers, or a hidden fourth switch!
  • Free Spins: In a Free Spins game, you’ll win a free spin for every bonus symbol that appears. These spins are made at the same initial wager, and can even win more free spins!
  • Payout Multiplier: In a multiplier game, each bonus symbol adds to a growing multiplier. This grows spin after spin until a round with no bonus symbols.
  • Fourth Switch: In a Fourth Switch game, a spin with three bonus symbols opens a secret fourth switch. This single switch always pays like three of a kind!
  • Improve your Odds: Higher-limit Spinnerbox games usually have better odds for the player. When you play at higher limits, you’ll win more for every gold you bet.


Oakfields - a place in Albion with a great pub!

When you do build up debt in the Fable II Pub Games and merge these characters, your debt will be outstanding with the Pub Games Masters at one of Albion's many different pubs. It won't affect the wealth of your Fable II Hero character in a negative way, but owing too much money in Albion is considered a crime, for which you will need to pay a fine - or do community service.

i've noticed that betting the max and cashing out soon as a you get a bit ahead in FortuneTower helps out. As far as spinners that's a fun tourney game but i don't play it regular haha... and keystone, well i've got my own trick for that for the tourney (i'd explain but im afraid it would take to long), its safe and not very aggressive but you (at least 98% of the time) never go below what the house gave ya Wink [;)]

In any case, I would request that the ability to join the AAA (Albion Alcoholics Anonymous) would be made available to me, as without the lure of sweet sweet Albion Ale, I wouldn't have ended up with a child anyway...failing this, a token code would probably keep me occupied and help me find my way back to the path of the G o o d [Good]... think of the children *angelic face*

however, that will only happen if i ever get my codes in. I pre-ordered the game at a online shop wich should give me the redeem codes but the site says that the codes aren't available Tongue Tied [:S], I hope they are somewhere in the next few weeks......

nice to see an update.  Ill be glad when they finally patch the pub games.  I find it easy enough to get lots of cash while playing cow and corset.  Getting the 3 triangles and another 3 triangles isnt that hard.  I just hope that lionhead doesnt take it out on everyone thinking "oh you have a lot of gold you must have cheated" and then setting all gold counts to zero.  I worked for my gold Sad [:(]

I understand the frustration that some are having with the glitch, all games have them, it's all about choice (which is a huge integral part of Fable2) and what you want to do. My tactic for pub games is to play fortunes tower on highest odds, and push for a jackpot, or cash out if it's over 20... of course playing the Cow & the Corset, and getting the fourth spinner to be the spinner, can win lots of cash...

2) Is this patching going to fix the "glitch" with Cow and Corset 25 - 250? Not that I've encountered it, but many people say that the payout on that game is alot higher and extremely profitable than any other spinnerbox game (and if it isn't will you verify this?)

3) How many times does it take to beat a spinnerbox tournament? I'll answer it for you with another question. How much time have you got to lose?

also, if your pub character is in debt then you simply don't have to match it up with your actual fable character. since there's 6 pub characters to choose from, i'm assuming you'll have to tell the game which of your fable heroes to give the money/debt to, so couldn't you just not link the in debt player with your hero?

I mean obviously people with gazillions of gold may be suspect, but they may also just be incredibly lucky and strategic.

While there may be people who cheated a few times who are indistinguishable from those who earned a couple of thousand or so the legitimate way.

so, I did a little bit of research on Fortune Tower(basically, I bought two decks and stuck all the 1-7s together and took the four Jokers [though it could really be any of the face cards (or even cards not used) ] ) and I played through 200 hands just keeping track of when the gate card was used, and when the hand "died" or whatever you wanted to call it when the hand is no longer playable and you go onto the next hand (I used burned before, but it was hard explaining to people who hadn't played the game yet lol).  Anyway, the reason I'm writing is mainly to share a little bit of enlightenment that I've picked up.  If the gate card gets used on the 3rd row, bail out.  In my small sample of games, the gate card was needed 71 times on the 3rd row, and 32 times the 4th row killed the hand.  And that 32 is the highest number of deaths or burns out of the whole sample.  nothing came even close, the second highest was going completely out (gate card and game) at 4th hand with 22 and 3rd hand with 21.  everything else was in the teens or lower, mostly lower.  Anyway, yeah, it might be common sense, but still, thought I'd give you all a fair warning Smily [:)].  I'll try and keep playing some more hands in my free time. when I can't actually be playing Wink [;)].  Oh, and this was using 60 cards deck (the last one you get... i think) with 8 of each numbered card and 4 heroes.  Hope this helps some of you Smily [:)].
