Tales of Albion #2

Published Wednesday, August 20, 2008 12:18 PM by Sam

If you are interested in the backstory of Fable, Fable: The Lost Chapters and Fable II then we have just the thing for you! We have a collection of lore from different areas of Fable's history, called Tales of Albion. You can read about "The destruction of ancient Albion" and today we've added a new section to the lore called "The fall of the Heroes".

Viewing Tales of Albion will require you to install the Silverlight application.

it doesnt fit,,,, the person said he saw are hero from fable 1,,, so he must have been what.. 4-5? then he became a hero at 17-18? and saw the hand guns at around 20? and already the hand guns are out,,, so 480 years later in current albion there should be some even more advance things out right???!!!!???

the bug was a cute touch.....and the story was so sad. i felt so bad for the hero and his family. i can tell from this that the game itself is going to get you emotionally involved in the game just as PM has planned.

Hey Bopit,

In response to your mention about the guns vs. development time.. I'd like to point out that a lot of time passed in our own world with the development of the gun. They had "Explosive Hand Cannons" in the 13th Century. Albion may also have gone through some backwards development (i.e they kept building on a mistake until they reached a point where their guns may have been G o o d [Good], but had a G o o d [Good] chance of blowing up in their own faces... which would force them to go back to the drawing board.. which is what we had to do with the musket vs. the rifle). It's important to remember when it comes to history and development, that it hasn't been until recent years that technology has been able to advance as quickly as it has. This is due to uniform research which takes place across the entire span of the globe. so I think it is totally believable that only a few decades after the events of Fable 1, guns were invented and by Fable 2 they have only advanced as far as what looks like a... actually I'm not sure if it's more of a rifle or a musket... but it does look pretty sleek and not made out of copper or anything else that may have blown up in the heroes face.. but yeah. I believe.

Ya that was great!!! stu u have a G o o d [Good] point with the gun thing. hopefully the 3rd story will lift my mood with hope for the return of heros. If it comes. It would be cool if our hero learns his "powers" or what ever without the heros guild.

Love it. The history of the Archon. Knight, Queen and Jack of Blades. Now it makes sense why he's so feared in the first game. The rise of Nostro. Scythe being more inportant than I realized. I really want to visit the guild in Fable 2. I hope there is something of this hero we can see in the new game as well. To trace his steps as he fled. Can't wait for more.

Man the poor hero, he died beacause of the egocentric assholes who thought that calling themselfs herose would give them absolute freedom, without no consequences. I wonder what happend his wife and daughter.

I t seems as if they could have done allot more with the second series, which shows a single hero being plunged into a world that has taken an almost universal mob mentality. They may have had him forced to defend himself and kill some folk, driving them to further hate him for simply choosing to not allow himself to be killed be a weaker, imbecilic and frankly inhuman group of individuals.
In hindsight, it seems that Lionhead has sacrificed plot elements time and again in order to allow the player "freedom", or more like the ability to take center stage, and hurts the lore in doing so. Background information was vague and never given reason behind why, for example, they would allow "heroes" to choose whether to be G o o d [Good] or E v i l [Evil].
Furthermore, although I understand why they had to keep it vague to allow the decisions of the player in the original Fable to still have possibly taken place, I felt it really left allot missing when the author of the diary, who wished to be a hero since he was young(within Fable's original timeline), mentions so little of perhaps the greatest hero's/villain’s deeds that it seemingly borders unremarkable status to even the most avid followers of his/her tale.
