Looks like Day One Patch

Published Thursday, October 09, 2008 12:48 PM by Sam

Remember a couple of days ago (or was it a week) where on a blog it was mentioned that Fable II would be shipping 'without' Online Co-op? And remember we said we were busting our balls to get it ready in time for a 'Day One' release? Well - G o o d [Good] news folks! It looks like we've done it...for all of you who are connected to Xbox Live, when starting up your copy of Fable II (on 21st October in USA, 24th October in Europe and 18th December in Japan). So all of you getting upset and all, you wouldn't even have noticed... Sort of. Well done to the team.

Taken into account we don't fail certification!

Stuck up puts it lightly.  Myself, and all my friends that loved Fable, have had no issue with the patch coming out one week - or one month - after the game's release.  The fact remained that it would happen.  And logically speaking, we've got no proof that the Fable 2 development team has ever let us down, put anything off, or not finished something promised to us.  I actually expected this to happen, given how hard everyone has been working as it is.  I hope you guys shortly get a break to spend time with your family's and take a few days (weeks) off.... it's well-deserved!

I wasn't bothered about the lack of online-co-op, but I was bothered about the fact that the media has been just begging for a chance to put Lionhead down. After the "delayed co-op" announcement, I saw an article title saying "Lionhead drops the ball again". G o o d [Good] gosh, if this were one of those big gaming companies like EA, the press would brush it off, compliment the other features some more, while tightly clutching a bag-o'-bribed-swag in one hand.

This is fantastic to hear.

Really, I never faulted Lionhead for the missing features.  Having been a developer on a very lower, smaller level, I totally understand features needing refinement, not being ready initially, and so forth.  But to see Lionhead give the announcement, that was at least a fair warning.  Then, push themselves to correct the issue before anyone would even see it?  Lovely!  The only way people would even experience the co-op would be to go online, so really, the -only- noticeable difference will be an initially-downloaded patch on boot.

This should, as other people have said, sort of be a boot in the mouth for those who flagged the "Faulty Lionhead" banner.  It happens!  And now, rather than a buggy/unprepared online mode, it should be flawless.  Congratulations!

I can't wait to play!  Though, my console got the Red Ring of Death on Tuesday... Microsoft takes 2-3 weeks to send a fixed console.  I will probably have Fable 2 and no XBox 360 for a week. Alas.

But to those who talked about people complaining about the online co-op delay, they can't realy be blamed, i followed the progress of the origional fable and as much as i loved it i was still slightly disappointed in the promises that where made that didnt make the final cut, so you can see why people might be a bit worried.      Well its cool that it was released with co-op but the co-op is a little shaky in the aspect of the feel for the game play. Its hard to fight cause of the constant focused camera angle on the characters game you joined. I mean i love the idea that i can hop right in that is a nice touch....But the fact that i cant load my character isnt that enjoyable. I do like that i get the experience points for fighting just let the door open for something better(hopefully a patch). I feel if you could load your character and they changed the camera angle problems id feel more apealed to play with my friends.

I love this game just am rather upset i beat it in 2 days and did almost all the side missions. Im going to go back through and try the dark side concept just rather disappointed in the total game play and depth of the actual story. Story line was way too short it boils down to find the 3 heros thats it. And the fact your sister plays no real role is rather upsetting. I feel you should be able to fight side by side and actually save your sister when she is in trouble, i know it adds to the feeling of tragedy but death is not the only tragedy out there. The fighting and graphics are amazing i will say! Also love the voice overs and the feel the music adds to the feeling of excitement and fear.
