I thought that the brightwood Freezing was the most common game ending glitch (and it is not evan mentioned.  Any one on my friends list stoped playing (sold) this game because of this issue. Hopefully it is a "Additional unspecified fixes"

I'd also like to know about the westcliff freezing glitch as this is by far the biggest thing plaguing me.

Whether that glitch is fixed with this patch or not will probably determine whether I go around and rate this game a 1 or a 4.5 out of 5 at every merchant and game site I can, as well as whether I buy any future Lionhead games.

I haven't read anything about frozen saves, if it will be prevented and if it will be able to load the frozen saves again. I have read a lot of reactions on the forum about this problem. I must say that playing from the xbox hdd has helped with much of the freesing issues, but i'm still afraid it will happen again. Maybe a way to make multiple saves would also help. luck with the testing and finishing, and i hope my problem is also part of your solution.

I would really like to know if the lock-up bug from the launch day patch has been addressed!?!?!  Seems to be linked to newer hardware.  Anyhow, I haven't been able to play for more than two minutes while connected to LIVE before the entire system locks up and must be restarted!!!  When not connected to LIVE I can play for about an hour before it locks up the system.

Well, has this issue been addressed yet?!?!?!

I've patiently waited for more than a month now for this fix.  If it doesn't get patched soon I think Lionhead owes a lot of people a refund.

just to let you know the issue with bowerstone furniture shop can also occur in bloodstone if the economy gets to five stars. so basically if you pimp out all the houses in bloodstone with 5 star furniture you can no longer buy any furniture without killing people to lower the economy

Yay fixes. I don't have the game yet, gonna get it soon, but it's great to see some fixes for some of the problems you hear about getting put in. And I'd love a pub game code if ya could spare please. It'd be great being able to start earning gold and items to pimp a character with.

Does "Additional unspecified fixes" include a fix for getting disconnected from Xbox Live / Messenger every 5-10 minutes whilst playing Fable II? (I have the Game Settings set to 'Friends Only' for the online part.) Fable II is the ONLY game that randomly disconnects me from Xbox Live / Messenger.

I have this pretty annoying bug that's keeping from completing the Archaeologist quest

When I do the last task of the above mentiones quest, the Archaeologist gal comes and asks for the stone, I hit A but nothing happens
The circle around A fills but nothing happens... If I kill her the +1000 renown pops from my head, and pops, and pops 'til I leave... But even if I do this the quest remains active and incomplete... Could you email me if you happen to read this and know any way I can get around this?

Picture this ***: I come home after a long day's work. My girlfriend and her sister are going to the theatre, so I'm planning a nice quiet evening of Fable II. I'm in the middle of the Lady Grey-retrieving-mission and plan to go get her upper body. So, I line the couch with snacks and drinks, go to the toilet so I can stay on the couch playing Fable II for hours, I turn on my XboX, and see.... THE RROD! :'(

Luckily MS is about their repair policy, they promised me to pick up my Xbox at my house withing 3 days, and return it within 15 days of arriving in the repair centre, all at no cost... But still, damn... Weird thing too, most people seem to get the RROD in-play, but when I shut down my Xbox last time, everything was fine, and now yesterday I turn it on and immediately RROD and black screen, didn't even see anything on the screen or any green light whatsoever...

Can't wait to see this patch come down. While I've played through without a problem (save one wife that's disappeared), my friend has hit several of these. He still loves the game though, which should tell you something about how this game is.

Now I just need to get me one of those Pub Codes so that I can get 100% on my achievements...

I hope one of the unspecified fixes is one that lets you get new Bounty Hunter quests if you got a glitched one that is constantly at 0.0 days left (- after it glitched the creature count to 172, and then the count remained there until I completed a Community Service quest, ironically obtained by trespassing in the Oakfield home where I was supposed to exterminate the beetles plaguing it).

Long story short, I have no idea how I'll get the Bounty Hunter title at this rate, which is what I'm actually trying to do.

To be honest, this is the first "bad" glitch that I've come across, personally. Not that it's the first glitch I've come across. I've come by several beneficial glitches, and one that has a 'fix' (the furniture store).

Ah well.

theres also a problem when if you complete the crucible perfect time and go to open the chest with the chopper in, you freeze and when u go outside u cant move and it says scene paused when u press start

what about a patch to fix the freggin freezing issues your game causes?  My box rrod  while playing fable.  it comes back fixed and will play every game except yours.  It freezes after a few minutes of playing everytime.  sometimes my dog is only a shadow, bandits are invisible.  I know i am not the only one becuase i have read numerous reports stating similiar things.  I am really close to swearing off microsoft and the 360 becuase it looks like sony fans are gaming it up worry and issue free. Please give me advice or @ least an update

Well, I'm glad to hear about the patch. I love the game, I really do. But all these constant freezings are getting annoying.

I sure as BLAM hope you fix the BLAMMING Game ending bug in your BLAMMING update that happens in Brightwoods.  Black screen when trying to enter after getting the Blind Date quest half way done.  If it is not say bye Fable II and bye Lionhead games from future purchases.  And hello to Microsoft customer support reps.

um... I have an opinion about the whole Pub Games code crisis... Couldn't Lionhead just make it free? Then they developers and other people who send the codes can work on content for Fable 2 instead of having thousands of people saying that they want their codes.

I really only had (major) problems with Fairfax(wife issues), but my brother had issues with TOBY not showing a trail, and some shop menu-related freezing.  The minor graphical bugs really aren't worth spending the time and money to fix to me.  I just want a family to live in a castle without bugging out.

I had to restart 4 times the very beginning of the game (childhood) because co-op play freeze the 360 when the autosave launches !

Since then, my luv & I don't play local co-op anymore, too afraid of loosing each other's character progression ... and I bought the damned game on day one mostly because of the local co-op functionnality.

You can thanx my luv for convincing me not to bring back the game ou the store or put it on ebay on day two ...

So now we are waiting for a patch that will take Mb on our 20 Gb hd : great news !

You guys should at least offer a dvd exchange for the game to avoid using my storage space to correct your hazardous work.

And you guys could offer the KNOTHOLE ISLAND DLC for FREE during a limited period for all the early buyers that became beta testers instead of players.

Glad the patch is coming. I'm one of the 'few' (that really is a bit rich) who's experience of the game has been completely ruined by glitches.

People are commenting about the ´few´ remark, think of this:

say, 50.000 people are having issues with Fable II.
But 1.500.000 copies were sold, and (let's say) another 100.000 copies were pirated...

Then those 50.000 are 'only' 3,1% of the people that are playing Fable II. Which means that the other 96,9 % (or 1.550.000 people) are playing without issue. You just don't HEAR from them a lot. Probably because they're playing the game in stead of complaining here, as they have nothing to complain about.

If you sold something worth € 100,- but you only got € 3,10 for it, wouldn't you say you only got 'A few bucks' for it??? But now when Sam says 'few', all of a sudden people are getting mad.

YES, it sucks that a lot of people can't play the game (properly).
YES, LH should fix this ASAP!!! (And hopefully are doing this mid-december).

But also, YES, in the overall picture there are a 'few' people having issues... Think of them in % in stead of numbers.

I dont like the static camera view in that mode but thats all i got problems with.

Also I wouldnt post such things in a developers forum but take the game back to the shop where u bought it and change the disc. Maybe something's wrong with it.
I know a lot of people who play Fable II that dont have your problems so the issue-% of these isn't that hight, too.
To mention issues in % is dangerous as people just dont see the relation.
Also it's a matter of the main unit of people who are in the counting.

Just be happy that we all get a patch and that LH cares about the issues.
I know other games that just arent worth their money but the dev. also dont do anything.
I think Fable 2 is a great game with SOME issues. In your case i really think that the game disc is some kind of damaged.
Just my 2 cents...


btw: i installed the game on the hdd (yeeaaaah to the new Dashboard) maybe u should try that one out.

I was mentioning % because although it SEEMS that a lot of people are having issues, when you look at % the problem isn't as bad as it seems. As to people not seeing the relation between numbers and %... Well, that's their problem I guess

I did install Fable II to HDD as soon as NXE came out, runs even smoother then, but again: I didn't have any problem with the game to begin with. Maybe you were responding to someone else?? Or maybe you just misunderstood me.

when I started playing Fable II and having troubles at the very beginning, I didn't have a HDD, only a memory card.

never any of  my 10 xbox360 games froze my console before, only Fable II did.

I can't bring back the disk to the store for a refund since it has been opened and used, more, the game disk surface has no scratches.

I experienced also the never ending save or autosave freeze.

I am not going to use valuable HDD space to install a game so I can play it : this is a PC world way of gaming & thinking.

My point is : in the console gaming world, there's should NEVER be game breaking bugs such as those reported here and there, even if it's only concerns a few people !

There's should be none, zero, nada, no discussion possible !
Keep in mind that we are talking about a console game.

What are going to do X360 Arcade models' owners with only a 256 Mb memory card and no Internet connexion to get and install the patch ?

you could not be so wrong.  there are very few people that will take the effort to go to a web site and even less that will actual post to a forum or in respnse to a blog when they can see that their issue is not being fixed or even addressed.  So take the amount of posts about bugs and glitches and multiply that who knows what and then you will see that there are many more pecentage points higher of users having problems with this game.  To even use the term few is wrong in any sense of the word.  It is a slap in the face of the community that has supported Lionhead and their games.

Don't know what country you live in, but in the Uk there is the Trade Descriptions Act - if the product is not fit for purpose, you are legally entitled to your money back. I think not being able to finish the game (or even get halfway through) is a perfectly valid reason.

great that some bugs are getting fixed. of course the only bug i have, which keeps me from playing, is not up there. I can't get into Bowerstone without my screen freezing every time. theres alot of complaints about screen freezings...and it doesn't seem to have been recognized

I know there are several unspecified additions to this patch but I would really like Lionhead to get specific with that one. otherwise I can't play the pub games with my hero 1. What if I am stuck already? I mean...Is that only for future occasions or does that actually get the game to work normally again ?

I'm stuck in bloodstone. When I try to puase. It says "Scene Paused". I'm apparently stuck in the Toby quest. I need help. My 30+ hours of gameplay better be able to be recovered. Or I guess I will not buy any more Lionhead games.

I'm in the same boat joshmonkey, except I can leave that scene and after I leave out of the town up the hill, I can go do other quests, but they don't count towards the hero of skill quest

I'm looking forward to the expansion. I hope the glitch involving the expression statues is fixed. They're all glitched and won't respond (don't have faces either) in my main file. I know they're not that important, because there are 51 keys in the game, so, you don't really need to worry about the one behind the door in Bloodstone, but it annoys me. I should be able to get the treasures they unlock, but a glitch is stopping me.

Sorry to bark in an old topic...

The Rescue quest glitched on me. My child turned "autistic" for a while, and people spoke about how my child was missing/kidnapped, and in the end, I could not get it to trigger once my child 'fixed' herself and began to be responsive to my presence and expressions.

I really want the Hobbe Head Staff trophy, and to finish that quest. Will this be fixed with the patch?

Pro tip: If possible/feasible, include a Sort function for items. Items that have had dyes applied to them refuse to stack with one another, causing clutter. Additionally, they will randomly become jumbled and glitch augments onto one another (at least in the case of weapons). I know that the program attempts to sort weapons by base value, but it doesn't do a very job of it- and really sorts things rather randomly when it comes to any other type of item (i.e.- dyes, food, gifts, miscellaneous, and books & documents), which makes it all rather awkward to maneuver in- especially for an item collector like yours truly.

Additional idea: Have a "Refuse/Reset Job" button if you find fixing certain glitches in jobs and quests much too difficult. I would recommend the X button be used for this when viewing Quests and Jobs. This would lead to people being able to get out of 'game breaking' quests or jobs, removing counters from the screen and the like. Just a thought.

Why is it that if you are co-oping over live you can't adjust the camera?
Why is it that both players can't explore past a certain distance from one another?
It really makes no sence to be so limited over co-op via live?
I could understand this with couch co-oping but not via live..

I also hate the bulls**t with only being about to trade out one item at a fracking time between players it takes forever to trade out gear if you want to start a new character why not setup a chest in the guild hall where you can store items you would want to give to your new character?

I wanted to go through and redo the game with a purely character and see how things would change in the progression of the game world vs my purely character.

I have played this game with 3 different discs, and have had the same freezing issues with all of them.  I can't believe they haven't addressed this issue in their blog.  I have emailed them twice and have yet to receive a response.  I'm so disgusted with this company I'm just going to return the game (for the 3rd time) and give up.

Fable 2 was originally announced in 2006 and released in October 2008.
I have to admit in 2 years time or less this game is a bit massive but it still saddens me that I paid full price for a limited edition of the game and don't feel the "extras" were worth the extra money I paid. Still waiting for bug and game fixes in software content :/ I would rather have waitied another few months for better beta testing but that's just me.

This is getting ridiculous. How can you sell such a buggy game without patching it up in the first couple days or so? Lionhead has kept us waiting for this patch, saying it'll be out "in the next few days" or the "next few weeks" or "mid-December". This is long enough that most people now affected by the bugs cannot now return their game to the store. This is absolute bull. If the patch is done, as is supposed, RELEASE IT. It is unfair to do this and probably illegal in some way, too. Lionhead is losing a huge customer base because of this. I personally will not be buying/renting any game made by them in the future, and I encourage all of you to do the same. Sure Lionhead can say how they listen to their community, but when are they actually going to DO anything about it? How is that listening helpful if no action is taken, no patch released?

Hurry up. This is unacceptable from a large developer who has the funds to do this correctly.

I just want some honesty and a target date... is that so much to ask for?  Evidently, they need to fire a bunch of the incompetant f*cks who do the testing and get some people who can be more efficient and honest about it..... mid-december is gone and no announcement about when we can expect a patch to be able to play the game is available.... its one thing to fix a bunch of minor bugs, but for those of us who have spent our money and suffered from "game ending glitches" this is pathetic.....

This is completley unacceptable. Lionhead is a huge company and this is how they fix a problem? By saying that this patch will be out in mid December .. It's the 18th of December and still no patch. We put our time and money into this company and they can't even give us the exact date that the problem is going to be fixed. I feel that for a company this is completley unacceptable and they should be doing EVERYTHING in their power to keep the customers happy. I wouldn't call this keeping a customer happy. Not by any standards. They should not be giving us a date that they can not honor. I think it's about time that Lionhead customers who have spent their hard earned money on their product should be getting something a little more due to the fact that they don't feel it's important to deliver us with a fix for a problem that should have been dealt with immediatley. This is not a problem due to lack of funding, it seems to be a problem with the companies priorities. I think that customers would be a first priority but obviously not, considering this is still a problem that many of us are still trying to deal with. If this does not get fixed soon ( due to the fact that it was promised by Lionhead to be fixed before this current date) I'm not quite sure I feel the need to support this company any longer.

I am hoping that other customers of Lionhead feel the same way about this problem and will support my opinion on this fact.

i totally agree with you Radious149. i hit the damn abbott glitch like 4 days after the game was released and due to the fact that i was very eagerly anticipating this game i was very frustrated and still am.  i would like to play this game the year in comes out not 4 months later. lionhead has already lost me as a customer. i will NEVER PURCHASE another product from them due to this issue.  its amazing that i have played so many games since fable 2 came out so many in fact that i dont even acknoledge that i even have fable 2 anymore because its been so long since i hit the glitch.  personally i could give a *** if lionhead ever releases this patch.  i dont even wanna play fable 2 anymore. the anticipation is gone completely.  this game has vanished from my want to play list.  its ancient now.  this company is terrible in customer service.  i will still play my game if the damn patch is ever released but i wont enjoy it as much now considering that i had to wait so long for the patch that i have almost completely lost interest in even wanting to play it anymore.

Help! Ive been stuck in "Hero of Skill" quest for 2749734 years. Please I need a patch, I really like this game and would love to continue playing. Stupid Bloodstone doesn't let me use "a" so I can't interact with any shops, or any person. I'm on the T.O.B.Y quest and I still can't even steal the mutton of hope from the tattoo guy.

When can we expect a patch to fix the constant freezing? I have one game that works great on my old 360, freezes constantly on my new 360 and won't trigger achievements on the old.

Also will it fix already corrupt save files or will we just have to start from scratch?

Still a little cloudly on a release date, but oh well.  As long as things are falling into place, and I get the patch before next year, I'll be a happy boy.  Turned fable on for the first time in weeks today.  I have money pouring out of every oriface.  Some less pleasent than others.

So, how about that patch allready? Been stuck on the abbot mission since releaseweek and I appreciate that you guys are taking time to fix the many issues that exist within the game. But now the time to come through microso, I mean Lionhead!

I bought my kids a brand new 360 elite and a brand new copy of Fable II, they didn't even make it to the first quest before it locked up..... Console games are not supposed to have this kind of problem!  That is why we pay out the @#$ for them and the GAMES.  I am very dissapointed, should have bought a wii for the kids.  Would of been a much better x-mas present because it WORKS at least.  And yes this is meant to be a lionhead/Microsh@t bashing.

ive been lucky enough to encounter only one problem. while attempting to save my son, he would not leave the cave. because of this my son was killed. he died a horrible death because of this glitch. will this patch fix this? will the patch give me back my son? (weeps softly)

This is appalling customer service from Lionhead. If I don't receive the patch next week I'm selling Fable 2, buying Fallout 3 and not purchasing another Lionhead title ever again.

Games companies shouldn't rush titles through QA. I'm really disappointed because if Fable 2 worked, it would be such a fantastic game.

I need a code to fix my freezing problem on hero of will quest as at the bandit coast after you defeat the highway man and go through to the westcliff loading screen it loads but on the saving bit it freezes, i went back to the xbox dashboard and rebooted the game only to find that i lost my progress on the bandit coast and it loads brightwood instead but furthermore it freezes when loading brightwood aswell i even started a new game and i had exactly the same problem I NEED HELP!

If the current patch is still broken then why not take it off line so new players don't accidentally download it (like myself) and ruin the game that worked when released or ruin their save file.  I bought Fable 2 and Fallout 3 and a X-Box about the middle of November.  I downloaded the patch and never got pass the guy selling the magic mirror and the music box cause it locked up every time.  I returned the game a few times then finally thought of looking to see if others are having the same problem  and boy did they!?.  I had to return my X-box and never download the patch in order to play Fable 2 (hard drive maintenance didn't work nor did clearing the cache).  Microsoft and customer's both are suffering but I guess if Microsoft wont remove the broken patch itself they deserve it.  I can't believe it's still not fixed, and to think I almost waited till the patch was fixed to play this game.  I really like the game but I don't think enough to ever buy another Lionhead game.  You have your work cut out to get me back (if you even care)!

I don't even know where to start. I purchased a brand new xbox elite just to play Fable 2 since I loved the 1st game so much. Dedication is it not? I spend hours as I'm sure of you other gamers did as well. After the Spire Quest, I saved and turned off my system to come back to it later. Upon returning my game will not load. After I select continue to start where I left off, it goes to the loading screen with the gears and then BAM! Screen is black and everything becomes non-responsive. I called microsoft and visited numerous forums to find a solution which none worked. I was in awe of the numerous gamers that are dealing with this same problem yet these problems have still failed to be addressed. I've been a gamer for 15 years and have never had to deal with an issue like this, EVER. I'm going to try to be patient and hope that a patch is released to fix this problem for myself and thousands of other gamers.

If this problem is not resolved, I hope you change your company name because anything to do with lionhead will surely be avoided. You guys should research the internet. They are multiple websites creating huge list of unsatisfied gamers and I saw one website through a google search that is planning to file a lawsuit that lionhead knowingly released the game with numerous glitches. Not sure how far that will go but it was interesting that they are so many people with this issue.

For those that have had issues with the game constantly freezing - I downloaded the game to my hard drive and now play it from there.  I haven't had that problem since, of course all the other annoying glitches are still there.  At least it's playable.

I'm going to try that, I started the game a few times over again after freezing. Hopefully I can at least finish the game.

Hey Sam, just a question, I already opened up the chest in the Hero's Guild so that I could get the content from the Hero's Tale game. I just received my code, and have been able to get the DLC on another game, change my title to Master Chief and enter the Hall of Dead on my old game. Will the patch allow me to get the armor on my old game, even though I opened the chest (it has seen become closed)? Or should I start rocking a new character?

ok well..... i got  an update  jan, 06,09. i havent been onliine in about amonth so idk when this update came out! but!!!... allmost every glitch that was in the game befor , is still there!....

 one that is bugging me the most!  is gotta be the martial home problem.
i had a wife & then killled her. the home we were in still says "set budget, decorating mode"... i did'nt think anbything of it! till i got a new wife & had a child with her. well!!... we were living in this crappy lil shack till i spent money to get a nice house!when i brought her with me to go set it to martial  home it went threw the marage scene all over again...? when w ewere allready married..... that did'nt make anysence!  then after that, i went to our old house the one we wer previously living in & tried to see if i could rent it out to make a lil money BUT it would'nt let me, just like  my first martial home!!!!!!!!!......& to top that off! everytime i change one of the houses income to a number  the other changes to that one as well!!!  so that both of them are  acting as one martial house!!  its  really reciculously weird!!! i need help!!!! no advise will solve this.... Well basically my glitch entails that I cannot go to either Fairfax gardens/castle or the bandit coast.

I deleted my saved games (after I beat the main quest) thinking that maybe the glitch is in the saved file, start a new one but can't get to the castle to talk to Lucien after I open the music box. So basically I can't get out of childhood and will never be able to play the game again!

I don't have LIVE so I can't get a patch (if that would even help)... is there anyway to fix my problem offline? Wipe any trace of the game/glitch away Anything besides formatting my hard drive.... even then I don't know if that would do anything.

I hope it fixes the bugs I'm having with the love hurts quest. Twice in a row I got the legs and when I went back to the mansion to turn them in, it glitched, the grave keeper disappeared, and it tried to send me back to the cave to get the legs again, even though the quest log told me I already turned them in, which I didn't. Couldn't get them again either.

After a couple reloads and retrying the whole first part, doing a bit different things each time, I finally got through it... Now I have the head and he's sitting in a corner, and it isn't letting me give the head to him.

Even if it DOES get fixed, atm I don't have live anyways, though I hope to get it by the end of the month. Here's hoping it's one of the unspecified fixes... Oh, and just wondering, but are you supposed to be able to get 2 of "The Rising Sun"? I have 2, and if so, that's just weird. Should only be able to get 1 of each legendary weapon.

I see they are touting the Knothole Island DLC, but no mention of a patch. What should those of us with problems expect - they have our money and they will make a bunch more working on DLC to sell to those that have no problems. I watched the new diary on G4 and it showed them "fixing" the bugs at the end - evidently they left the part out where they discovered more bugs after it got down to six and decided to ship anyways. It seems it is next to impossible to get a straight answer on here about patches. I suggest writing instead to magazines and online reviewers and asking them to check out the blogs here about the problems with the game. That may be the only way anything will get done timely is if more reviewers see the problems listed on here and mention it in their next articles about the game or upcoming DLC. If the patch is so secretive and taking so long I can only surmise they are uncovering more problems as they work on it. I can only hope they will sometime deliver it before I pass away - maybe I should put a clause in my will to bury the game with me so no one else will have to live through this.

What about fixing the original freezing problem instead of just trying to squeeze more money out of us with more DLC??? Got a new Xbox 360 and a new copy of the game, and can't play it, AT ALL.

There is a gitch in the colosseum.  My hero is stuck under the colosseum because i have gitch through the wall.  I can even leave the colosseum or anything. Please can you fix the gitch so i can move on with my hero.
