I feel let down, £40 gets you 30+ hours of your life spent to end up with a character rooted to the floor and no-one to speak to about rectifying it along with added ignored posts in the bugs section of the forum. don't want to play no more nor restart the whole game and I guess I'll encounter game breaking bugs later on based on my experience so far with this game : I'd to restart 4 times at the beginning to pass childhood since the autosaved function worked endlessly or the 360 froze juste after.

no more wasting time, I'll buy a working game instead and there're plenty this year ... or perhaps give a try at Fable the Lost Chapters if I can get a copy for a few euros and get advice that it's not another Fable beta version

I've downloaded the original fable2 NXE premium theme, when previewing the theme i was shown 5 or 6 different background pictures.

After downloading and implementing the them I've only ever seen one back ground (fable 2 logo in the top center of the screen). 66% of the background is obstructed by a turd colored semi circle. How can i view the other backgrounds i paid for with in my NXE Fable 2 premium theme?

I can't recommended ANY premium NXE themes to any one due to the NXE's layout which block approx 66% of the background picture and apparently only 1 background image when the preview show 5 or 6.

You should also sent codes to people that can verify they have a copy of the game as by now there are tens if not hundreds of thousands of leechers that don't own fable 2 gobbling these codes up instantly.

Those other backgrounds you saw was screen shots because that was I thought orginally

the only reason i know about this site is because kotaku linked to it last week in their post about the upcoming patch.

that's when i noticed all of the codes posted at the end of the patch notes.  as i was looking around at other posts, i noticed codes were posted at the end of every post.

so i started checking back often and i was able to get a code 2 days ago.  it's not that hard.  i don't even have fable 2 yet (loved the first one, though), but i had a great time playing pub games last night.

achievement points aren't as important as you seem to think.

Tbh, if I recall, the codes were meant to be free and come with the game if you pre-ordered it. I pre-ordered the game and didn't get one, yet it's about 95% likely there're people who've bought the game (not pre-order) and probably just come on here and started getting the pub codes for themselves. It shouldn't really be a "oh they're free so I don't mind," since if you were meant to get the pub codes free with the actual game when you pre-ordered it, it'd mean you're sat here having to ask for what wasn't included in the package. If you ask me, if you pre-ordered the game you should get sent some of these codes for free, not sat here trying your luck while randomers get so many of these codes.

Well Halo 3 wasn't breaking the rules. As stated somewhere above, only the first 1000 GS have to be achievable without costly DLC.

Everything after that can cost points. Several other games have this system as well.

Guys, here are some tips:

You guys should try http://notify.me and link your instant messenger to it.  Add this blog as the source, and it'll send you an IM as soon as the page is updated.

Have a tab open for https://live.xbox.com/en-US/accounts/RedeemToken.aspx

When copy and pasting, copy the entire code, and stick it somewhere easy to access.  I put my code in the Google search field in Firefox.  Don't hit enter, or you'll do a useless google search.  Switch to your redeem code tab.

Now type in the code.  You can do this manually (if you think you're quick), or you can copy/paste again.  Since you can only paste 5 characters at a time, double click the section of the code you want to copy.  This should select everything between hyphens.  Ctrl-c copy.  Ctrl-v paste.  Repeat 4 more times, hit enter.  Lather Rinse Repeat as necessary.

Just picked it up and I'm curious to see how it matches up to Microsoft's Christmas Theme. Yea, I can't complain about free but I'm really digging the snowy asthetic of Knothole Island. I finally just read the release and I have to say I'm a bit more excited than I was. An augment tool and new augments. Changable weather (hopefully I can keep it snowy). new clothing, including the rest of the assassins gear. Rare item shop. Can't wait...

Hepricus... chill. Just go to the store and buy the freakin' points. Stop being cheap, staring at your computer and cursing up a storm. If you could shell out $10 more for a LTD ED of Fable 2, you can afford Pub Games. Neither Microsoft nor Lionhead owe you a damn thing. People worked hard on that game, developing it and getting it just right. They don't need you to get all huffy because you don't get a freebie. If you knew the value of a dollar then you'd seriously calm yourself. I mean really, when's the last time you worked hard on something just to give it away?

The Pub games came out before the game so that you could get a taste of Fable 2 before it  came out. Then they gave the pubgames free to people who preordered the game. Now they are even giving them out for free to lucky people. If you truly wanted the pubgames for free then you had many oportunities to to get them. For the people who didn't know about getting them for free he is giving them a second chance. As for the game being like a car without a motor. That is not true. Did you not get any enjoyment out of the game? If you played simply to get the achievements then that is sad. Even if you did play for that reason the opportunity to get the achievements for free is out there. No one is making you pay for the pub games you could just be patient and wait to get lucky for a code or perhaps in the future the pub games will be free.

P.S. I do support Lion Head and can't wait for the DLC.

In the end, neither side managed to successfully communicate what they were upset about to one another.

People who are supporting Lionhead and believe that people should buy Pub Games and stop complaining:
Pub Games' actual cost can only truly be attributed to its connectivity with Fable II itself. Even fans of the series have admit that Fable II Pub Games is "not worth $10"- especially considering what $10 dollars buys you these days on the independent gaming area. I'll admit that people should not complain because there were/are ample opportunities to obtain the game for free in the end, but trying to convince anyone that Pub Games is worth its monetary amount when compared to other games of the same prize is a bit silly. $10 dollars buys you games like Immortal Defense these days, which is much larger than Pub Games. All that aside: It's still Microsoft who decides how much Pub Games costs, not LionHead.

Additionally, these people are upset that Fable II was shorter than expected, relatively linear (its replay value is 'artificially extended' through randomly generated Jobs and Slave Rescue quests, and most of its charm comes from NPC interaction, which is where most of the development team's work went into, considering the diverse dialogue trees that can occur), and the fact that, yes, the game is full of glitches, whether 'game breaking', avoidable (which does not mean 'fixed'), or simply mildly hindering in obtaining all the gameplay value from the product (such as The Rescue quest due to an autistic child or disappearing wife that will randomly fix themselves later on). They're not just complaining about Pub Games, even if one of the most uttered phrases on this blog is "codes plz kthx", or something to that effect.

That aside, you are NOT wrong. Fable II did have a lot of work put into it, but it could have simply gotten pushed back a little bit to iron out the boatload of randomly/non-randomly occurring glitches out of its framework. It would have done the game itself a world of , and people would be playing it more often instead of hanging around on forums whining about the lack of information on the patch. Sadly, people DO play 360 games mostly for the achievements, and telling them that it's 'sad' that they do so won't affect the fact that they're a majority- and growing in numbers. Completionists are one of Microsoft's largest target audiences when it comes to "Live" games, and it's starting to catch on with other companies (Sony's Trophies, WoW's Achievements).

To everyone: Molyneux Hype is a coined term by now, and almost every 'blog' outside of Microsoft's grasp shows it when they write about news from the LionHead front. You knew what you were getting yourselves into.

tl;dr: Everyone stop complaining and play or don't play your game. A Patch will be coming out, more codes might be coming out, and people will still complain about something insignificant even if everything is fixed. Especially while LionHead (or rather, Sam) continue avoiding numbering how many people have reported glitches and the like as anything other than 'few'. Cheers and a toast to less self-inflicted-misery in the future.

To those complaining about not knowing anything about the patch:

If you actually took the time to read any of the f****ng posts you'd know when it was coming. It just goes to show who actually cares about the game and who just wants to whine and cause grief because they're butt-hurt. I was excited about this game too, but guess what, I can live my life while waiting for them to fix it. When they do I'll gladly continue playing. In the meantime, there are more than enough other games to play and things for me to do.

As far as I'm concerned, with the patch and the DLC coming up, it's just the same as if they had delayed the game to fix bugs and add more content.

As for the Pub Games, not having them does not equal possessing a broken game. Yes, the game IS broken, but not because of the inability to get achievements. People have played games for years without achievements, and now that they're here it brings to light which people care about fun and which people care about their egos. It's not even like people are missing out on content, because the pub games are IN Fable. All they care about are useless achievement points, and as far as I'm concerned, gaming would be far better without them.

hold on, when in the hell is the patch coming out?!?!?  i just spend 30 minutes in the forum looking for a release date, but nothing.  it seems the only thing that is mentioned about a patch is a half dozen 'major' fixes they're working on.  however, no release date.  if someone could let me know.  or maybe LH could actually release something to let us all know.  

i would like to eventually play this game past the point leaving for the spire.  i'm sure it'd be fun, but i have a game ending glitch that isn't addressed in the 'current' patch, so i'm not sure if i ever will be able to complete F2.

The last blog post on the patch mentioned that it's being finalized, which means that it's most likely right on schedule.

As I have said in a previous post it is mid december and no patch or DLC but the rumour on the grape vine is that it will be the 22nd which is the end of december so they can't even stick to there own word ....... yet again.

Xbox.com has recently been updated with three new achievements for Fable II, adding an additional 100 Gamerscore to the game for the upcoming Knothole Island DLC. They are clearly leaving themselves open to future DLC with still an additional 150 points to work with... or 650 if Lionhead can convince Microsoft they're as cool as Bungie.

maybe monday they'll announce the patch being released.  hopefully the final path version mentions something about the game not saving completly and freezing during a save.  OR maybe creating separate saves for autosave and character file saves?  that would really be great and probably solve the problem, 95% of the time.

These codes are for a standalone game which is comprised of the three pub games available in game, plus a tournament for each game. You are also able to obtain 15 unique items for Fable II, including an expression book and a dog trick book, needed for one of Fable II's achievements. This unfortunately, is the only reason why many people here are even here. Others actually want to play the games for the games themselves.

Yes, if you pre-ordered Fable II, you were supposed to get a code for a free download of the Pub Games as a way to get a head start on gold when Fable II came out. Many people claim not to have gotten their code when the pre-ordered. If you did get the code, you don't have to worry about getting here fast enough, since they are also for this game.

Centerart and Codiak. I do have a job in quality control. It pays me enough to afford a game like Pub Games. Yea... it's not Shivering Isles, Braid or Castle Crashers but you are complaining about not getting it for free. The point was that you don't complain about free. The developers did work on the game and you chose not to buy it, fine. I personally saw value in it just for the winable prizes. It got me ready for a great sequel and I'd gladly spend the cash again. You aren't looking at the big picture. I hope some day you'll realize how awful your point of view is. Lionhead is giving Pub Games away. Kudos to them. Bitching and moaning about a game you claim is awful and not getting it when you want reveals more about you as a person. And that's someone I don't want to get to know.

People like flouting this.  Very well.

Quick question.  Can you trade any of the items attainable through the Pub Games?  If so, it's as legitimate as the Hero Dolls for achievements.  It requires befriending and working with other human beings, rather than complaining over a blog.

You can get the completionist achievement by acquiring the specific items from a friend,  or simply joining a friends game who already has the achievement.

The pub games are not necessary to get it.

I get the feeling he's abandoned this blog. And the chances of actually seeing the Video Diary for Knothole Island before we actually get it seems slim at best.

Sam has all ready said he wont email the codes any more and that there finite. Also you can still buy the pub games and if your that much of an achiv whore buy it you allready payed for the game or if you had any brains youd find some one that has this achiv and go to there world its a social thing. and please stop posting this crap my email box is packed with this crap. I sub only to find the info out for the dlc adn ect.

The simple answer to your problem is - turn off comment updates. As you evidently don't care about the codes, telling us to "buy the pub games" and that "f you had any brains youd find some one that has this achiv and go to there world its a social thing", you don't care if Sam posts more codes in the comments section. He only puts proper updates on the blog, all the comments have been for more pub game codes. Or are you hoping that we all bow down to your amazing intellect and say "sorry DuzAwe, we won't bother you any more", and then Sam to come along and give you a code for being such a marvellous person?

Just turn off email updates for the comments section if you don't want to get them anymore. Simple as.

I bought the game a long time ago. What I want top say clearly is that he has all ready said no more emails yet he gets hounded for code this is worse than recon in halo 3. All I want is the new vidoc and expansion but IM not on here posting every 10 to 15 min looking for it. Buy a game for the game not the achivs its nuts

Lionhead has confirmed to Eurogamer that the Fable II: Knothole Island downloadable expansion pack has been delayed until January 2009.

An announcement on Xbox.com yesterday said the pack had been pushed back from 22nd December until "late January", which the developer confirmed this morning.

Xbox.com cited "unexpected technical difficulties".


well done lionhead so many more times will it be delayed by my count that is twice so far it has been put back.

i suppose thats better than it being released and being full of bugs..
Least now i can catch up on all the other games i have to play...

meh tbh luck on getting these codes i been on and off to see if i can get ANY of the codes but nope they are REALLY hard to get, but tbh i aint bothered about the pub games im more bothered about knothole island and the themes and other stuff as i have already completed fable 2 and got about 3mil in me hand (currently donating mass amount to temple of light to keep me money down), tbh we need more things to buy for example: Clothes, weapons, houses, potions, ingrediances (Food) and businesses
