Any chance we can still get the patch this month?  I'm stuck due to the Abbott glitch and I really want to play this game.  Can you estimate a date for the patch at least?  Thanks.

I know lots of people are upset about the delay, I'm dissapointed also but I'd rather have a smooth working dlc than a bugged one. If you found the time to play F2 you'll find the time for the dlc, and ms points don't expire to those that are complaining that they went and got points for it. No offense Sam or Lionhead but you've just lost my sale...

Fable was, and still is one of the greatest games Ive ever played.  When Fable 2 was announce I followed it from its inception to production.  I pre-ordered the collectors edition the first chance I got (the only game Ive EVER done so).

When the collectors edition was shrunk I stood firm, believing that the extra-in-game content was worth the 10 dollars more.

When this content was given to the public for free essentially leaving me with a DVD of videos that had been on the internet for free for months (all of which I already had on my hard drive), I was upset but Fable 2 was a game and I was willing to swallow my pride for the wasted money being that the game itself was worth the extra ten dollars.

As game breaking bugs continued to pop up, with Lionhead promising a patch that is still yet to arrive, I defended the game from upset friends because of the contained nature of these bugs and the sheer epicness of the game.

However this was the last straw, this delay of the game to a point to where I no longer have time to play due to college is just too much.  Despite spending YEARS tracking this game through its development, Im calling it quits.

I have read these forms for years and know Im likely to be flamed for this post, called a troll, offered a cookie, etc... Im in no way trying to influence other opinions, as I may be the only one that feels this way,

But I feel as though Lionhead deserves to know that through some of their actions (or Microsofts) that even a hardcare, Lionhead supporter has been turned off of Fable to the point of completely refusing to buy a DLC.

I say this now but Ill probably return to track Fable 3 and spend another few years of my life on that.  Hopefully that will live up to expectations.

Well, I suppose I can watch for the paid DLC, but where's the patch? I want to start playing this again, but there are no sales or shortages anymore, my wife's disappeared, and my kids a blind/deaf/mute!

I'll keep hoping for some news after the Holiday, like you said Sam, but my patience is running thin.. I was so psyched for Knothole. I was just about to put some points down for it, but now I'm not sure if I can trust any "official" announcements, as whatever is promised has a tendency of being delayed.

I'll wait until the day it's released before I buy points.

Is the patch coming out the same day as the DLC?

Either way, it's the Rescuing Charlie glitch for me and I haven't been able to play in weeks. I couldn't care less about the DLC until I can actually, you know, FINISH the game. Very disappointing.

Any information on the patch would be GREATLY appreciated, as I stoppped playing a month ago, due to Brightwood issues.

Well, was really hoping for the release this monday (my birthday), but oh well. Always seem to be waiting on something, almost went and bought the points too. Not sure if the Knothole Island Registration for Microsoft is valid anymore, even though I registered that too. It was a bit strange last Saturday seeing the Knothole Island DLC in the Events and then Sunday seeing it missing without reason, until checking out the blogs. The waiting always kills as everyday passes, but sooner or later it will come I suppose. Still if the patches are finished they should still could, because many glitches are not nice when it comes down to gameplay. luck with all the work and keep up the great work.

Bit of a bummer but as with the release of Fable 2, "all things come to those who wait." DLC still falls in winter so that'll be enough for me. I'd rather them get it right than it be rushed and unfinished. Merry Christmas Sam, Lionhead staff.

well thanks for updating everyone on the patch while on vacation. I understand that you guys are working hard despite the holidays and trying to get the expansion pack and the patch ready as soon as you can. If you know anything about the patch date, could you let everyone know please? I really hoped I could see some of the bugs fixed before christmas because that's when I would be able to play the game the most. Still, I enjoy this game a lot and wish you all at Lionhead a marry christmas and a big congradulations on making the best game of the year!

Haha.  How pathetic.  I paid $60 to have a game sit on my shelf.  I've been visiting this site to get definitive news of a fix ever since I couldn't proceed with my game because of the Bloodstone glitch.  That was the middle of November.

Glad you guys are working hard to fix what you had to have known was broken, Lionhead.

unreal. first you put out an unfinished mediocre game with no ending....such news to us FORMER fable fans.

y'know, I feel kinda like that bee that keeps madly trying to fly through a solid glass window.  
I'm thankful now that I didn't buy the Collector's Ed, but I do feel like one of those guys continually going "oh, ok, you'll have it soon; that's cool."

On the up side, I have already attempted to play several characters through and I really feel like the character I have now is gonna be great...I've worked out when I can get her all the stuff, how to maximize her income + leveling + overall gaming experience, I played all the pub games all the way through and gave all the rewards to her, and come January, she'll be ready to progress from the Wellspring of Light.  

I've already started re-playing Oblivion and just recently rented Spidey: Web of Shadows, so I'm for the time being.  I was looking forward to playing the Knothole DLC over the holidays, but there are weekends too.

So all in all...oh, ok, you'll have it soon?  That's cool.

I understand about the DLC, But CHRIST! What about the bloody patch? I can't even play Fable 2 because I'm stuck on the stupid Hero of Skill Quest that's bloody jammed.

And I still kind've like Fable the Lost Chapters and Oblivion gameplay better.  

 

First I'd like to offer my condolences for the delay of Knothole island.  Real shame, but that's just how the development process is.  But I can't even imagine how much of a pain it all is having it delayed over the Holiday season for EVERYONE involved in the development and certification process.

Now that Knothole is nearing completion though, like a ravenous beast, I have to wonder, when will the next bit of DLC offered up on a plate?  I really enjoyed Fable 2, but really feel like I've sucked all the life out of the game in my two play throughs.

Whenever You get around to announcing a release date for Fable 3 I'll know to tack on an extra 6 months to that date to allow for the inevitable patch to be released that'll actually allow people to play the damned game.

Lionhead told Eurogamer.net that it will be 22nd of Jan, that is if  LH can be trusted as so far the expansion has been dated for 10th and 22nd of Dec and now another delay.

Also I know quite a few people who are looking into getting some form of compensation because lionhead and Peter M put fable II out for retail purchase knowing full well that the game is broken in so many areas. I personally would have rather waited for a proper game that worked instead of purchasing a half arsed attempt and I think you need to fire all your testers as they must be blind not to see these bugs.

There's a surprise, pay-for content taking priority over game breaking bugs.

Would have been nice to spend some of my time off this Christmas playing / finishing Fable 2, but now I can't due to the lack of a fix to my problem.

well i can wait i mean we already have been.  I even had to wait for an x box repair with no games  to play in the mean time thanks to fable (i know that pisses some people off that we blame lion head but its true.  Never even froze or acted the slightest bit odd until i played fable 2 on it, then rrod! and i am not the only one....sigh....)  Any ways as long as your patch is complete and fixes the freezing and every other issue this faulty game has caused its worth the wait.  Take your time and do it right and win back some respect.  Oh yeah and thanks for the update i really wish you would do that more often .....IE directly responding to questions about your game constantly freezing and causing systems to crash.  But yeah enough said thanks for the update and have a holiday  lion head i truly mean that.

I hope this download includes the ability to get your dog back. I read in a magazine article on Fable that a DLC was suppose to release containing a dog pack or something. But who knows lol, I can only hope.

you can get get your dog back if you pick the right ending and if not go see him outside the dog trick demon gate or visit his grave were he was shot.

I too would like to add my two cents worth about the release of the patch and the DLC.  I do not understand why the patch is tied to Knothole DLC.  I am currently stuck in the Kenneth Blackmail glitch (as he ran away in the middle of the scene and now I can't use the "A" button!).  And since Kenneth was in Bowerstone, I can't even get back to Wraithmarsh/Blodstone since I can't fast-travel or use the Cullis Gate!

I am truly disapponted being stuck 2/3rds the way through the game with no ability to workaround the glitch (while the team works on more salable DLC) and can't finish the game.  Like others have expressed, I'm not interested at this point about other DLC until I have a game I can finish.

Sorry Lionhead... count me as another disappointed Fable player!

another delay when you have a team of atleast 45-100 people on it thats kinda sad sorry to sound so mean and blunt but its just the fact you released fable 2 with such ease and bugs why not just release the add on if its buggy or not or not even announce it until atleast 85% of the bugs have been removed but its what ever back to just killing the same things over and over again

ah well. i was looking forward to this DLC.  one thing about it's delay: it increases the chance of it NOT being infested with bugs and glitches. if only you'd delayed the main game a bit longer, some of this stuff could have been worked out

Enjoy the holidays in Belgium with family and friends, Sam.  Family and friends are what's really important. Despite what some folks here may seem to think, Fable 2 is just a game and working on it is a job for you and while one can love ones job, we have to set our priorities where they really should be.  During holidays, that priority should be family.

Even with all the moaning and groaning about the delays on Knothole Island and the bug patch, most if not all of us will still be here (probably complaining ) when you get back.

Take care and may whatever god or gods you believe in watch over you and your loved ones.  I know it's not politically correct these days to actually say it, but no one ever accused me of being P.C., so have a merry Christmas!

Of course, the patch is going to get delayed, because it's the only feasible way left for Lionhead to screw over the "minority" of us that have been having issues with the game since day one.  What are the odds that the patch would have been done by now if it were the sole focus?  No, they rather release downloadable content, because it provides a profit.

I have been more than giving. I have had this game for over a month with the same problems waiting on the same old "we'll fix it soon" and I was patient. I even was patient with the thought of a DLC extra. BUT WHAT THE *** GUYS??? Drop my patch!! Why would you hold back the key thing keeping so many from even enjoying the original content of the game? I cant even play 10 minutes of the game without it freezing itself dead in Bowerstone. I HAVE 2 XBOXs and they both freeze in same starting city... there is no way in hell it can be a random occurrence or something that only effects the "minority"!!! SOCOM had problems and their issues got them RAPED by Gamespot, IGN, and all other worthwhile gaming sources. But you get away scott-free with a glitch that not only makes the game COMPLETELY unplayable.... but has a nasty chance of turning your XBOX into a RROD pile of steaming refuse.
Why would you drop DLC, or plan to drop DLC in tandem with, a patch that is supposed to fix a bug that is a pure system freezing nightmare. Smart money would be to send them one after the other, dealing with the glitch first so that you dont receive countless HUNDRED THOUSANDS of return CDs from dealerships and users for a programing glitch thought to be a media glitch.

Ok.. i'm done venting. Please ... for the love of all that is , FOR SANTA's SAKE, for baby Jesus, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! GIVE ME MY PATCH!!!! i wanna play and stay a lover of the Lionhead. But, if not, give me back my money.

I hope Lionhead and Microsoft know this is affecting their sales. We haven't sold a single copy where I work since both my boss and I hit horrible glitches. When people ask us about Fable II, or bring it to the counter, we suggest other games and tell them "Fable II is a great game, don't get me wrong. It's very fun - but it's also very broken and not worth buying until there's a better patch out." Now they've pushed said patch to next year, affecting this years sales results and making it more likely for people to forget about the game due the extremely short shelf life games have these days.

Can't even say i am mad about this.  You can go ahead and place on your calander anytime that LH and Pet M. make an announcement of a drop date, you can add a Plus sign to it.  I would really like to see the politics going on behind the scene and see why this content and the patch have been delayed.  I can't imagine that the DLC would cause any more bugs then already existed.  Or maybe someone at Microsoft finally read a forum and understood that this game has issues that need to be resolved before LH could suck another 10 to 20 bucks from us.  WTG LH, I am ranking your PR department and your inability to provide a finished product as an Epic Fail.

I am very disappointed to say the least....I have told my friends about the Knothole Island release on Monday, which we purchased points for, and now we have to wait until late January....and my game just started glitching too! Just fix the problem LH....this is terrible!

Load game to hard drive appears to fix repeated crashes - freezing.

Please spread this around. Like so many out there I've been playing Fable II on the xbox and enduring having to restart the game every 10-20 minutes because it freezes up on me at any particular point. Last night I came across the following and after following the instructions, I played for about 6 hours without the game freezing. VIREAS, not sure who you are but I think Lionhead should have posted this months ago and owes you a debt of gratitude (or money).

Like so many of you, I was having problems with the game freezing ever 5 to 10 minutes and it was becoming wholly infuriating. I tried rebooting, erasing the cache, install the patch...nothing worked. Until I tried this.

Step 1) Clear the cache.

Go into the system menu, select memory, hit Y on your hard drive, and then hit XX LB RB XX. It will then ask you to confirm the maintenance. Selected Yes.

Step 2) Install Fable 2 to the hard drive.

Go to the "Play Game" slide. Hit Y. Selected "Install to Hard Drive"

I did this and it completely fixed any freezing problems and my framerate and load times are better as well. I highly recommend doing this even if you're not having freezing issues.

I have not tried install the update after doing this as I don't play online but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Even if it didn't you could just clear the cache again and that should fix it.

whyyyyyy, im thinking about trading fable in for the new tomb raider

When I bought the CE edition of the game and found out how many things were taken out, I was kinda upset, but I got over it. When I started playing the game and experienced all the many glitches, I was frustrated, but lived with them. When I got the game ending freeze glitch I was pissed beyond belief. Now I've been sitting on this game since the first week of its release cause I cant play it, with the only hope that the patch would have been released already. I find it amusing the notion of prioritizing DLC over the Patch. The Patch should be the number one concern with all available resources placed on getting this out first. This way if the patch does not fix my game I have the option of selling it back and getting some money for it.

Thanks Lionhead for ruining my x-mas holiday. Was looking forward to playing, but I can't freakin' play januari because I have to much to do for college. TNX!

disappointing.  The only drawbacks of this game are the glitches and the short story time.  DLC and patch would be great now, but if it's not done; then it's fine.  Just hope it's not a marketing decision.  That would be truly unacceptable (at least for the patch).  I agree completely with acolon.  I just count myself lucky that my copy doesn't freeze *knocks on wood*.

Everything is being delayed with fable 2, and I don't know if I can put up with it any more. It was fine at first, but now this is crazy.
If you are going to announce something:
A) Make sure progress has been made on the content you are releasing
B) Don't hype it up so much with screenshots, videos and the like
C) DONT GIVE ANY SPECIFIC RELEASE DATES.
If you had just said "Coming this winter" instead of "Coming December 22nd," then you wouldn't have to tell anyone about the delay, and you wouldn't have so many angry people.

Dang, was looking forward to this.... Oh well better to wait another month for something with all the kinks worked out I guess. Hope next DLC goes smoother, and that this is the last delay for Knothole. Oh and next time some new enemies would be nice

nooooooo!!!! why?!?!?!.  i was really looking forward to knothole island, and i was really hoping that the rescuing charlie glitch would be fixed so i could finish up my second play though.  please tell me that knothole island will have some tougher enemies for those of us who have reached god status.

I think that it sucks really bad that you have made us wait this long on the dlc I and so many people have been done with this game we have done every thing there is to do alot of us has beat it 4 times already I have loved all your games but,makeing us wait this long is just makeing us the consumer more upset cause we all love this game alot and want more ,cause all the games that i have seen bringing out dlc its going to make every one shift over to another game cause heck man by jan all the games will be out and we will be playing them and will not want to wait for more time on it.

Personally, I'm affected by a loading bug that actually completely locks up my Xbox when I try to load up my save.

Strangely, though, my wife's save, and a few others, work completely fine. It's only my save that's borked.

I don't know about glitches as me and every one i know have not experienced ANNNNYYY, but i still think they should release this patch now or atleast systematically. You don't have to release em all at once, part by part over time should at least ease people's nerves.

I consider 10+ to be many for a DLC (15 if it's an expansion, which this technically isn't. correct?)

5 hours is plenty.

3 hours is decent.

You guys can stop pretending it's broken now, I know you think crying about glitches and bugs will get you free pub games codes and all but seriously you're getting ridiculous.

I've played throught Fable 2 about 5 - 6 times now and I only experienced one bug/glitch, it wasn't even game breaking, all I had to do was reload my last save. Also quite a few of my friends have bought and played through this game and guess what... they haven't experienced any bugs/glitches either.

So if these glitches are so common and game shattering, what are the odds of me and four other people getting through the game fine with no troubles? Crying and moaning about *** that isn't that big of a deal to get free pub games codes is pretty damn sad and if you hate the game that much cause of bugs that rarely present an isssue then why don't you just *** off?! Seriously there's no need for you guys to be here, please go away.

Well my roomate's (and consequently my) game has not seen any glitches as of yet. I don't know anyone that has any glitches either. I'm not sure why people are complaining so much about the pub game codes though. Get a job, and just buy it. What was it like 10 bucks? At minimum wage that's like an hour and a half of work after taxes. Get over it. And if you're complaining about the game just to get a code for the pub games just so you can get the achievements, well that's just sad. Get a life. But if my game glitched, or if people are really being honest about their games glitching, than I'd be fine waiting for the DLC if it meant the patch would come out sooner. Not so much for everyone else, but mainly so I don't run into any issues.

It does seem though that Fable 2 was one of the sloppiest releases seen in a while. And with the way info spreads like wild fire I wouldn't be surprised if there was a huge drop in sales for Fable 2.

Honestly, I'm disappointed that fixing the game stopping bugs are of such a low priority.  That should have been released a long time ago.  I haven't been able to play the game I bought at midnight of release day because of this, unless I want to loose a LOT of work earning a ton of money in chopping wood and all that, that I don't want to have to do again.

It's great that you and your friends played through this with no problem. Unfortunately, there are thousands of people who do have bugs with their game. And why would moaning about it get us pub game codes? Hell, I don't even want the pub games. I don't really know what they are and I don't honestly care. I just want the game I paid my money for, and the game in its current state is not worth what I paid for it, regardless of whether I had run into any bugs or not.

Meanwhile, I'm going to encourage everyone to not only continue complaining about the patch issues here, but also on other websites so the word continues to spread.  As awareness of the issue increases, so does the pressure to release a public apology and a patch.

You might also want to consider sending regular complaints to both Lionhead and Microsoft via e-mail.  While you are not likely to receive a worthwhile response, you can imagine the effort of managing all of them becomes an issue.

If you're feeling really adventurous, create YouTube videos highlighting the glitches you are experiencing within the game and post them around the internet.

Thanks for the update Sam.  I can understand peoples issues with the fact this patch is taking so long to come out but seriously the game is play tested before it comes out and obviously they didn't experience these bugs you can't blame them if they really believed the game was gold enough to ship.  On the other hand maybe microsoft was putting on undue pressure to push this game out for the holiday season, instead of complaining to the creators who just want to get a quality game out to the people blame the people pushing them to release it as fast as possible.  And to comment on another post more complaining wont make the patch/dlc come faster just makes you look like a broken record.  

For me i just bought my xbox in October and purchased several games with it, Fable 2 being one of them so im just playing my other games for now, and have no issues waiting till January for the patch/dlc.

While I respect your opinion, I have to say that I disagree.

If we stop complaining, then we can be swept under the rug.  As it currently stands, our concerns are nearly ignored to the point of being unrecognized.  As this blog post so elequently showcases, we have become a footnote.

Complaining more about the patch isn't gonna make it come faster, the developers have to take however much time they need to make the patch fix all the problems.  If we complain an excessive amount and they release the patch before its ready because they just want to shut us up and the patch ends up either causing more bad then or fixing things here and there but not fixing everything, then what happens.  The community complains even more.  Therefore making us sound like broken records.

It comes down to this what do you want a patch that comes out and fixes everything or a half assed job that makes us complain even more.  

Also complaining that includes enough swear words to make the d cringe isn't gonna help either.

And i realize that my opinion is only that my opinion but it may be a opinion also.

To all people having problems, just trade the game in while you can. It's clear they won't fix all of the glitches and it will result in people coming back for more. Be smart. Take some initiative here, don't be sitting with a broken game. You wouldn't sit there with a broken digital camera or music player knowing that you can get your money back. You can trade it in for a better fully working game and maybe in the future buy it again when it's cheaper and hopefully working how it is supposed to.

when  you guys announced DLC i was all happy, you said mid december which works out to be Dec 15th (the middle date in december) and to make it fair i would say +/- 5 days there for making it december 10-20.  the 22 is close but not mid december.

Plus you never announced the price or size of the download, so i have no idea weather i can afford the Dlc or if my hard drive has enough memory with out deleting stuff. sure would be nice if it isnt very expensive due to the lack of Pub game Codes as well as all the LE stuff(that was taken out)

But now you push it back to Janurary when you could have noticed earlier that there was a bunch of stuff to do.

So please tell me when, how much, how big, and if me and the countless others who ordered the extra content will be reimbursed for the lack of content

Delayed again! Was so excited I only get a few hours a week to play the game and I've already passed it a few times. Was excited to get new stuff today but was delayed! Iorkca, why do they tell  us a date in the first place? if it wasn't ready (the patch that is, i could care less about the a-hole island add-on) why tell us it will be ready on 'x' date.  if you don't know your own game and the co-workers by now (and if they could deliver the s on time), that is pretty sad.   it could have come out in january and they could have told us it was coming out in january.  well, once again we are being pulled around by our back pockets!

I just started to play again when I heard about the DLC, and I wanted to start a new character with LCE content I finally got a month after I purchased the game (didn't even get a pub game code on pre-order). I'm a bit disappointed but I guess it will let me enough time to get all gargoyles and silver keys on my newest file. I really hope the DLC will be cheap and that I'll get a pub game code at some point.

Whitedawg, we've all tried to have patience. The problem is,  that when you keep delaying EVERYTHING relating to the game for months at a time, we just cant sit around any longer. The game has been out for 2 months, and we still havent recieved a patch for many of the game breaking bugs. One of my charecters has a corrupted save or something, and my Xbox locks up when I try and load the save. This should have been priority number 1.
Why the hell would you release DLC if you can't even play the damn game by itself?
It seems apparent that the DLC contains the patch, but they need to drop the DLC for now, and just fix my damn game. If they said "The patch will be out next week, sorry guys, heres 3 hours of free DLC" I would be lessed pissed, but they are delaying both for a month, and refusing to release a stand-alone patch.

Amen to that. I've read some (if not most) of the hateful posts, and all of them are flat out stupid to me. They don't realize how it is that they're even getting an expansion. And how hard lionhead really is trying and that some things always slip through production. I'm willing to bet that if the glitches did something that gave them an unfair advantage, then they wouldn't complain so much. Anyways, at least lionhead is even coming out with dlc. I have had a huge break from the Lionhead forums.
I was defending you guys since the games release all the way until half way through November.
I had a break to get away from all the flamers that can't appreciate a game (Because most of them rush it). Fable II has beautiful scenery. And scored 92% I think in Gamesmaster Magazine (British magazine).

For your sakes Lionhead I hope you include extra content for the Limited edition players. If not Lionhead it might be you greatest downfall.
My only criticism for Fable II has been the fact the limited edition was such a waste of money (and time, the Halls of the dead was short and rubbish). So please Lionhead do the smart thing and add extra content for the limited edition folks.

I have just permanently crashed at Rookridge.  It crashed while I was saving in Hobbes Cave.  Luckily I have finished the game but now I have nothing.  It will not load the save.  I deleted cache, downloaded game to hard drive even moved my saved game to a different storage device hoping maybe it would copy correctly but get a black screen everytime I try to load.  I have done it with or without the update.  To have to continue to wait for a patch is ludicrous.  If this was accounting software that I purchased it would be fixed yesterday.  I won't be buying anything from Lionhead until this is fixed at no charge!  These issues would be easier to deal with if there were multiple saves i.e., Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc.  Merry F(&*^&%ing Christmas!

can i have a pub games code because i cannot get the achievement 'the completionist' without pub games and your supposed to be able to get every achievement in the original game (fable 2)

whats really sad is that this whole idea of this posts being here is to voice ur opinion so if there is something that we would like them to see put in the game we voice it. if there is a problem that the gamers are experiencing ,like before we voice it. so all of u coming on here stating that we are crying or complaining it is cause some of us followed the whole saga ,others have had the game since launch date and cannot finish it due to the bugs. if u could more power to you ,but dont come in here hating or knocking someone else for there comment or complaint. look at the forums and see how many people are compalining bout bugs and glitches B-Feck before u say damn thing cause that ignant not even ignorant. all we want is what we paid for ,if u bouught a system and got home and there was no controller u would be tight ;same thing here i and like others out ther have a game we cannot play in its entirety and lionhead is moving slow to do something bout it

I've seen all the cry babys on the forums, it's been going on since release. It's just hilarious how everyone is whinging over minor issues, they'll get fixed soon enough if they are there.

Fallout 3 came out around the same time as Fable 2 and I don't see a patch to fix all the issues in that yet, awesome eh.

That's exactly the kind of stuff my first post was aimed at, it's obviously not down to the game. Guys got a screwed 360 and it's all Lionhead fault,  best give him pub games codes before he crys harder.

Dropping $70 on a game that's broken and can't be beaten until a patch is released 3 months after release isn't a goddamned "minor issue" - to even argue against such a fact makes you look like a crap-eating idiot.

Sure, some people have been lucky enough to breeze through the game without any major issues (though everyone I know who has played the game agrees that even then there are minor bugs all over the place that continue to plague the game), but don't pretend to speak for everyone else who've been let down by such an obviously unfinished piece of software.

When is the patch coming? Jesus Christ.

Sam, thanks for telling us that eventually a patch will come out.  but i always told my friends that fable 2 would be such an epic game and that they should get it instead of gears or CoD.

But what can i say to defend it when  a patch is coming out so late and a DLC that gets delayed, and no offense to anyone but that will likely have bugs and glitches that players will likely experience on the first day and will have to wait a few months for a patch.  

i like fable it was really great until Charlie and his grandma came along and my dog became a bumbling fool that led me to a non-existent quest that started in the middle of NOWHERE(i love dogs but this is outrageous). I am seriously starting to doubt weather you are serious about fixing this.

              Its not about crying for codes I mean really for my bug Plaits Hairstyle its the actual pub games that locked up my game and caused it to crash.
              Its also not the system, I caught the Red Ring of Doom last year and got a new one this year.
              Its not just the dlc because really with a patch I could probably play this game for 30 more hours and still find new stuff. But lets be honest that DLC was announced so quickly it was probably stuff that they cut from the original game.
              It was a game, its many imperfections kept it from being a great game. Graphically and gameplay it had strengths but it missed the mark on the basic stuff.
A horrible map system that was pretty much useless (I couldn't even really see the map until I picked up a LCD 40 inch last mouth).
The menu and item selection was horrible, would have been much better to allow us to assign quick buttons on our D pad rather then just give us stuff. They could have just ripped off the old menu options from any final fantasy and it would have been a ton better. You can't tell me it was fun having to constantly reload that menu just to take a couple of xp pots. I have played this game alot, i mean a whole lot and I am still not sure about the magic system feels like its missing something from fable 1.
Its the feeling for THOSE OF US who are glitched out of having an uncompleted game and then being told that it will get fixed but you got to wait till we sell you something else first, as if buying Knothole wont add more problems (though I appreciate that they take their time with it, God knows I don't need anymore problems with that game). Though I had lost all my experience midgame I got it back quick doing the crucible with a friend on XBL but had the Plaits Hairstyle Game Ending Glitch happen to me before I beat the game with my first character rather then while I was collecting stuff post game I would have returned that game in a heart beat.
All that to say the fix could have been their priority, fix the old one first then send out new dlc with a sepparate patch/update for that. Instead they wanted to make a quick buck right before christmas by trying to do eveyrthing at once and it didn't work out. They got their priorities and its clear that people who already bought the game and experiencing these glitches are not one of them.
But your right Fall Out 3 has its problems and So did Elder Scrolls IV but multiple save slots got around most of those. In other words Fable2's single hero save proved to be a double edged sword it made some of your decisions feel more final or important but it forces us to eat the glitches, defects and bugs that this game has and if you get one that can't be reset due to the games auto saves then your done.          
Anyway if you don't believe that half this *** is true go on youtube trust me you can find all this glitches quicker then you'ld expect.

Sucks that the DLC has been pushed back until January, things like this happen.  Has there been any updates with the patch, because the current product that some of us currently have is pretty glitchey.  It's fine to talk about getting new quests and adventures out there, but how about fix what's already broken?

 Anyone who pays for the game has the right to their own opinion and on a forum, the right to speak it. Truth is, if this game was smoother it would be more attractive. I am not disappointed with Fable II. Giving your opinion to LH is a favor to them  imo.

 My opinion is: XBOX 360 is MADE for game lobbies(mic) and teams/multiplayer. Let's face it. Take a game like Left4Dead and study why it's such a huge success. Who doesn't spend more time on a game you can interact with friends and other people? (let me walk around and fart on EVERYONE online openly, options and interaction/expressions are key to multiplayer) This is the next generation and what we want is XBOX Live with friends and chat. 2 is bad, 4 is . People like people, bring them together. Fable II singles you out. 'Everyone Orbs on' is a better multiplayer than multiplayer itself is. Simple + multiplayer VS Detailed + trashcan. If you fixed bugs& added SP content, yes I would probably show some interest towards Fable II once again, but would I keep playing Fable II later on? Better MP is ultimately more BANG for our buck and potentially less work. Weapons on Fable 2 are , spells could be more balanced. Overall Fable II delivers HUGE, but falls short on replay value and fades away. Keep in mind I loved playing Fable II while it lasted. Just my opinion.

Oh i'm sorry LH..... this was my fault.  i fell for it.  You sure got me when you said this would be a revolutionary game or whatever.  HAHAHAHAHAHA it was only a waste of $60! who needs it?  I sure dont.  And boy hehe, who expects games that they buy to work these days? maaaaan i am such a sucker.  LH you sure pulled a fast one on all of your fans!  MAN we are so dumb right guys?  we should have expected all this hype to be false.  I'll also probably be dumb enough to follow Fable 3 if LH really has a big enough ego to even start up that BS.  Oh yeah LH ummmm why even start a DLC when the main game doesnt even work.  I would say that at least 60% of the people that own this game(if you can call it that) cant even get past a huge flaw in programming.  Have a great new year! Okay guys, this is the worse game ive seen in my whole life. I already buyed the games points 1december when there was annoucent that knothole island will release mid-december. So I now expect more of it.

I honestly thought that's how the kid was supposed to be.  I married Alex (ghost revenge marriage quest)and we had a kid after a while I noticed the kid didn't move and just had his back faced to the room not doing anything.  I didn't realize that the kid was glitched until I had another family and the kids run around town and find me whenever I'm in town.

Wow. Knothole Island. That would sound fun, if people could even play the game.

Why bother making more buggy crap?

Games like Fable 2 consume a lot of time.  When that time leads to a functional character that can explore the world, it feels like a investment.  This leads to wanting to get more out of the character and the world - and hence the purcase of additional content.  (Think Oblivion)

However, Fable 2 has consistantly frozen for me (and many others) in a completely reproducable way.  I have posted and read the forums and even called Microsoft.  Nobody has officially even acknowledged the software defect so far.

It promised so much, took so much time and ultimatly Lionhead has just left me flat. Adding insult to injury, the developers won't even acknowledge that there is a defect affecting many of their customers.  At first, I thought they just had bad QA, but now I am beginning to believe that knowing about the defects doesn't influence the company anyway.  They are happy to take the money and ignore any customers that have these well documented hang problems.

Like any desperate infatuation that ends badly, I loved Fable 2 and now I dearly hate it.  I want my money back.  I want Lionhead to admit these are real problems with their software.  I want Lionhead to lose the source code to a project and be told "just start over".  I want Fable downloadable content to be released and be completely ignored.

But if they fix the bugs, I could change my mind...

Can you please stop flaming the devs?

Ok, "My game is fatally broken, And it's really irritating" is fair enough, and I'm sorry for you people.

But "OMFG DEVS WHY HAS YOU NOT FIXED THIS CRAP A BLIND MONKEY COULD HAVE DONE IT", really gets on my nerves. How many of you people have written a program anywhere near the size of fable, even written a single line of code?

Have you got any idea how subtle and difficult to find some bugs can be: a variable declared two lines away from the wrong place can cause some fatal error.

We don't know anything about the politics of working under Microsoft anyway, especially during a  recession: look at what's happening to ensemble, another excellent microsoft company.

So please, before you post another ill informed rant, think about how much work and effort has gone into, and is still going into this game, and also think how much it would hurt you to have something which you had spent so long on harshly critisized in this way.

They proably do have people hunting through their hundreds of thousands of lines of code for these bugs, grinding their teeth, and living on coffee, and when they fail to squash the bug your up in arms!

Bummer about the delay. Getting antsy waiting for the DLC. Once it's out, I'm gonna download that suckah asap.

All you people who say not to complain... I bought this game at a midnight launch.  I waited outside for it, got it, and went home to play.  Within days, I got the abbot bug and my game is essentially over.  I could start over, but I've done SO many things to make money, and I don't want to sit here chopping wood all over again for hours.  I did this while waiting for a patch.  Then it won't be out until mid December.  Then it won't be out until mid January.

Why am I annoyed?  Because I was expecting to play this game.  They simply will not release a patch just to fix the bugs in a game I now cannot play.  A patch should have been released ASAP to fix the big problems, and should NOT wait until the DLC.

Lionhead, I have worked at a game dev before, and I understand all the problems and possible problems.  I just honestly believe your priorities are not in the right place.  I don't hate you for it, but this sure doesn't make me happy.  And to top it off, you barely talk about it.  How about some love for the people who buy your game, and do something about the bugs before the DLC.

anyone who has glitches should just start a new file, getting to the abbot should take under an hour and maybe anither hour or two to get the charlie quest available.
the game is incredibly easy and if you want to play the game dont trigger the glitch.
and if you say your to far in the story i laugh at you, ive completed the story well over 18 times.

Lionhead, you've had too much time with your "little delays", your fans are getting sick and tired of waiting. Aren't all of these comments sending wake-up calls at all? The fact is, you set an unclear date by saying that the patch will come "soon" to fix all the glitches in the game, a WHILE ago. We know that you are well aware of the many bugs and glitches within the game, and nobody is willing to wait for the new year. This is actually fraud on your part, and most of us just want our $60 back to buy another game to keep us busy (for those nothing-but-360-all-day gamers, in which many ranting here probably are, excluding myself).

Writing on and commenting on an online "forum/blog" is something very unusual for my taste but this is just getting out of hand. You have a very captive audience, and one that has been building rage as a result. You keep us anticipated and refreshing this site everyday for some news, but none ever comes. I have come to the point a couple days ago where I convinced four of my friends not to buy the game, and they are passing this info on to their friends. In total, I know nine people not getting it because I not only told but showed them the glitches on the game. None of them, all of which were hardcore fans of Fable, were impressed and all were disappointed. They aren't even interested in the game anymore, and here's why:

We figure, a game could only be so if it stops you midway and doesn't let you continue. So no matter how it is, if you cannot, for example, save your game, you will never play the game more than once or twice. The same concept lies here, and if there isn't a patch fixing all of these disgusting and obvious glitches in the next couple days, you are going to lose most of your sales permanently, not temporarily.

If you only release the patch and not wait "for the holidays to be over" or for "another release to come out so it can all be sent at once", you can have a permanent solution to a temporary problem! C'mon Lionhead, this is VERY disappointing. Yes, we are getting very uptight, and there is room for forgiveness in this matter is you make the release any DAY now, not YEAR...LITERALLY.

Just noticed that if you go to the xbox.com website and login with the e-mail address associated to your XBOX Live account, Go to your Fable 2 Achievements, you should be able to see the new Achievements for Knothole Island as well as their point values.

Wow they've had HOW long to fix the 0day patch bugs now?... honestly this is appualing. I'd like to think the patch will be out in a weeks time.. that's wishful thinking but honestly they've had like 2 months to fix this now.

Ok...Ive read most of the comments here, and Boy!!! Do I feel lucky. Ive not had any major problems with my game. After completing the game, I went back to the Crucible to beat my record. I left and after it saved and loaded, My guy couldnt move. Thats it really. Oh and I never got the chest for breaking my record.

Sucks that they cut down the pre order special editon. I really wanted a figure to go with my Halo guys.

I never knew about Knothole. (Im in Sydney Australia, We get nothing here) It wasnt until I compared games with a french guy that I found out about it. I got all excited and tried to find out more and when can we get it. It seems like we aussies are going to wait a lot longer than you Americans. Why cant we get a global release? I'm sorry, I know this isn't the first you've heard this (or the right place to say it) but I bought the LE Fable 2, which is an excellent game, marred by glitches, but they didn't really matter until I realised that "The Completionist" achievement required the Arcade version of Pub Games to complete, which annoyed me just because it feels like you're trying to scam money, after I already paid extra for the LE. I just though it would be easier in the patch if you just gave people those expressions, rather than giving out Pub Games as a solution.
I mean that way people wouldn't have to scramble for these codes, and people wouldn't feel cheated when they find out either, as well as likely saving Lionhead money.

Again, sorry for the repetition but I just felt like I had to say it somewhere. Obviously I'd appreciate a Pub Game Code.

ok, i purchased the arcade pub games when i pre-ordered Fable, sat on the code never using it.  finally the game came out, played it beat it, still didn't use the code.  just got the completionist achievement through playing online with a member of this fine community and still have not used my pub game code.  i don't wanna waste the code, so i'll give it to the first person to email me at MechaMacster@yahoo.com.  first come first serve, and this is an email account i just started today, and after handing out the code, will never use again.  the code's at my house, so it'll be sometime this evening that i hand it out.   luck to the quickest draw!

It's not my profession.  It might be a difficult one, but that isn't an excuse.  They accepted the position, they obviously did a poor job and now they have to face the consequences... or you know... just continue to screw over the consumer.

Fable 2 is the best game ive ever played why are people saying there are so much bugs for?ive never had any. have u even checked if its ur xbox thats shithouse?honestly ive never seen so much people complaining about one game, if ur never gonna buy a lionhead game again or are encountering a glitch dont post it here cuz we dont give a flying f**k keep it to yourselves.

Wow, you folks sure do get riled up about a game.  I had never even heard of Fable before this year, but was told it would be an awesome game.  So, I pre-ordered it.  While I waited for the release I downloaded the Pub Games.  Not many other companies would give you something like that - especially to carry over in the main game when it has been released.  

I'm not cheering for Lionhead by any means - because I went yesterday and purchased the LCE version.  Only to find out that it didn't have the DLC card for the Hall of the Dead, but also that Microsoft isn't even going to take any new requests for the premium content.  The only glitches I ran into was that my dang wife kept running off and I couldn't find her, and I would get stuck in my house because a ton of people would follow me in there and block the exit.  I guess I should be pissed since I have now purchased both the standard version and the LCE version - and all I have to show for it is a dvd and a white box....but it isn't the absolute end of the world.  Life DOES go on outside of the video game world.  I guess maybe if I had ran into any game stopping crashes then I would be more upset.  But right now the only thing that upsets me is that I bought two copies of this game and can't access the special dlc - and MS is not being supportive.

Can i have a pub games code emailed to me please? Rather annoyed on pre ordering not to recieve one or even half of the stuff promised with my limited edition. Thanks

Truthfully, I don't know where to go from here.  I have the Collector's Edition and feel utterly abandoned in that I essentially got a retail clamshell game with a fancy sleeve and nothing else for the extra money.  

I enjoyed playing the game, but got through it in 3 evenings after work, was entirely let down by the ending and linear system that drives the quests and stores.  Given my druthers, I'd send this game back to whence it came, but Buy.com is none too friendly about taking back opened games.  Not GameStop apparently.  

Lionhead: While I GREATLY appreciate all the work that you put into this game, and the fact that I didn't run into as many problems as a lot of other gamers (THANKFULLY!, though I did have the wife and zombie child problem), the ending entirely soured me to the entire franchise, and the lack of promised additions to the Collector's Edition leave me wondering why I should EVER invest anymore time or money into this or any other game from this studio.

P.S. Someone want to give me a chance to ask for a single addition to be thrown onto the patch?  It would entirely redeem the game if someone could invest two hours worth of coding for this.

Wow! Are any of you REALLY surprised that it has been delayed? I mean, Lionhead has such a STELLAR track record with that sort of thing. I believe they had another recent delay...oh yes, Fable 2 itself! So why should this be any different?! And it will probably be just as bug-riddled as the game itself was. Frankly, I hope they delay it a month or two so that both the sorely-needed patch and the new content alike will rid this game of all of it's painful flaws. Molyneaux willing, of course. Oh, and for all of the whiners out there, I am NOT a "hater", but a realist and a bit tired of such a great team releasing games before they are ready. So please do this the right way, folks. I never experienced a single bug, glitch or problem in the many hours I have happily spent playing Fable 2, and I am not in the slightest bit bothered about the minor delay for DLC.

AHHH...can we get a confirmed date of when in Jan. I hope the patch will fix the stores not having anything cause that sucks that I can't buy furniture with either of my Heroes...

There are two types of people that post here:
- The ones who have bugs in their game and want to vent their frustration.
- The ones who don't have bugs in their game and completely ignore that other people CAN have bugs in their game.

I personally don't have bugs in my game (thankfully) but i believe that a patch should be released soon (before the DLC) to help out my fellow fable 2 fans who just want to play the game.

i'm not really bothered when it comes out - as long as when it does it isn't riddled with bugs that give me antlers and make my dog furiously hump everything in sight whilst shouting "ee by gum" in a northern accent - i'm just annoyed that we get given these dates to expect it and then get let down three or four times before we get the thing. It would be much nicer if one day this patch, update and new quest and item set that's never been mentioned just pops up out of nowhere. I'd be much happier, instead of going "oh, that new update's out today, i'll just go and download it- oh wait, it's not here" and i have to search on the blogs on the fable 2 website to find some confirmations, when the main page still says "mid-december". thank you very much lionhead (even though no-one important's gonna read this comment anyways)
