Fable II Takes ELSPA Platinum

Published Wednesday, January 07, 2009 12:51 PM by Sam

When it was released in Europe, Fable II became the fifth-fastest-selling game ever in the UK, only topped by GTA IV, Halo 3, FIFA 09 and Call of Duty 4. This obviously excludes games that were released after Fable II. The game also became the fastest-selling RPG on Xbox360, ever.

ELSPA sends word that we've now been awarded the ELSPA "platinum status"; a select group of games that sell over 300,000 units in the UK. They started compiling their list of sales back in 1999, so certain games are excluded and missing from the list (such as Ocarina of Time), yet cast an eye on the entire list of silver, gold, platinum and diamond here.

There is also other G o o d [Good] news, if everything goes to plan (and I know you will shoot me if this doesn't happen) the next video diary (episode 8 ) is going to be released tomorrow. As in regards to the patch, we at Lionhead are deeply sorry this has taken longer than we wanted to or expected, but I'm glad to let you all know that you can expect the patch really very soon now. For a list with additional details regarding the patch I'd like to refer you to an earlier blog entry.

Plus here are some additional codes for the Fable II Pub Games. First come, first serve!

  • All codes have been used

There is a much easier way to redeem your codes....Instead of wasting time to go switch on your xbox and type it in so slowly. I just go to the xbox website (xbox.com) and copy and paste my codes in there....This is the first time I have ever tried doing it this way and it has been really successful. =)

HUUZAH! everything kis coming together. DLC, patch (and not a moment too soon!) and a new diary! excellent, the wait has been long, and hopefully worth it

and please stop being a slave to the wingeing children Sam! Don't provide any more codes! if they want the pub games that badly, let them pay for it!

Wow another blog bigging up lionhead' achievements and succes with fable II, how low is their self asteem?

Anyway any chance of emailing the pub codes to people, as this method seems unfair for people in different time zones/ who work etc.

Also there is nothing stopping people taking multiple codes, i'm sorry if this seems rude but its not intended towards you. I'm just a little p***ed off that, lionhead would release a game where you had to buy DLC to get the full 1000G in it even though M$ policy states

"1. All regular disc-based games MUST have 1,000 Gamerscore in the base game. This means that any consumer who buys a retail game will have the opportunity to unlock the full 1,000 Gamerscore without having to pay for any add-on content. Note that a publisher may decide to deliver a portion of this Gamerscore via add-on content, but the add-on content will always be free to the consumer."

Personally i don't care for the pub games, but with out them i can't get the completionist, and before i get loads kid who live at home with their parent giving me their clever insults, along the lines of "get a life its 50G" etc. Just pipe down fact is this is a breach of policy

First off to seb_smith, I think that Lionhead is fairly subtle with their awards compared to bethesda, who posts every award that any of their games ever receive and every nomination for an award that their games receive on the front page of their site and on the front page of that game's website. Lionhead just puts some of the awards they receive in blogs.
To Sam, why isn't ocarina of time on the list?

Yes and no, there is one for winning over 500 gold in once sitting. But then there is the completionist which requires items which can only be obtained via content from XBLA Pub Games. And thanks to the Charlie Uniform Novermeber Tango who took three code Big Smile [:D]

seb_smith: you can get any of the items from Pub Games needed for "The Completionist" (i.e. the books) via online trade. Therefore, you don't need Pub Games to get the achievement. Therefore, it's not a violation.

meralonne not true, i don't always have the oppurtuniy as from whaty i've gathered it is one book for a person. So once the person who has pub games have used it the book its gone. Also most people won't trade the books. So i am not guarteened a 100% chance that i would be able to gain the full achievements, without purchasing the XBLA game/

They are not allowed to do it end of this is why they are giving the codes away IMO, i could be wrong though.

seb_smith -- It's true that the books can only be used by one person. But I guarantee that if you hang around in the forums long enough, you'll find someone willing to trade or give away these books to you. Hell, if my 360 wasn't in the shop with the RROD, I'd give them to you myself. For free.

Keep in mind that no one is ever "guaranteed" that they will be able to get all of the achievements for a game. Frankly, I think they're giving away codes because it's a G o o d [Good] PR move and makes up somewhat for the fact that many people who preordered the game did not receive their download code. I doubt very seriously that it has anything whatsoever to do with achievements.
