First day back to work today for me since the unprovoked attack landed by a bunch of chavs. A lot has been happening in the office and in the world of Fable II.
If you're looking for some more reviews about Knothole Island, TECHcetera brings you this review. "Knothole Island is too small to occupy your hero for very long, but it has plenty of worthwhile treasure hidden away there. The only thing to dislike about it is that there's not more of it! The bottom line is that Albion is such a great place to play, I'm going to take any opportunity I can to return there and enjoy more of Fable II, even if it's just a little jaunt on Knothole Island."
From Destructoid we get another set of impressions (aka review). "If you have your faithful companion, there are plenty of things to discover. If you don’t, you aren’t missing anything that isn’t available in the island’s stores. I believe the Knothole quests are renown-related, and the final quest only becomes available shortly before the game is over. If you’re looking to start out a new character for the DLC, be prepared to have to run through the main story again. This isn’t a crime -- Fable II is as enjoyable as ever. Knothole Island adds to the magic."
Videogamer.com also posted their impressions with the DLC, "As a Fable II fan you'll get a solid few hours from the new island, more if you hunt around for treasure and try to get all the new achievements, and it looks very pretty (the snowy scene greeting you on your arrival really is quite stunning and the drastically different looking sun-drenched version looks pretty great too), but we won't be alone in wanting more." You can read the entire review here. "After Fable II left many players emotionally attached to the characters they'd met, simply playing new quests with your dog might be enough of a reason to hand over the 800 Microsoft Points, but for such a great game Knothole Island feels a bit too workmanlike. Knothole Island is a
effort but far from the standard the full game set."
Gamespot decided not to use their normal reviewing system with a score, but instead posted their findings on their blog. "The new content can be as brief as an hour or two if you run through the dungeons, but if you take your time and scour every inch of the land, it can take much longer than that. The most important thing is that, though there isn't a ton of new places to explore and quests to partake in, what is here is quite
. The dungeons are longer than most in the game, presenting plenty of clever traps and deadly ambushes, and there are tons of new items to collect. And you can finally don a proper piece of armor suitable for a hero instead of the random assortment of rags you're given in the main quest. Knothole Island is a darn
excuse to return to Fable II."
There have been a thousand people asking me for Pub Games Codes. Let me repeat this is not an official Microsoft or Lionhead "give away", these codes were given to us to hand out to the Lionhead Community and once they're gone, they're gone. I haven't got a lot of codes left, but here are another 40. First come, first serve...
However, that is not all! We will also be giving away 5 codes to download Knothole Island (in case you haven't already). All you have to do is a post a comment on this blog entry and maybe you'll be one of five lucky people? To enter, leave a comment on this entry telling us about your most touching moment in Fable II.
