well, that sucks... I would rather pay 80 bucks for everything. The case is what makes the difference. I mean... The whole point for me is that you have something different from what others have, including the box. I am still gonna keep my preorder, but only decided to while posting this. This is a major blow to my excitement for this edition. Now it is barely worth it.

What kind of supply chain issues are you talking about here? I mean seriously, what are they gonna do? All you guys were doing was releasing something like the Assassin's Creed LE, so they obviously can't say the size isn't . Yea, it's 80 bucks, but that means nothing, they only get more money. As far as I can tell, they have no reason to reject it, so, until we get a specific explanation, I can only believe that it is purely a decision made by Lionhead and Microsoft and not based on any store chains.

The fact is, instead of doing something they should have like saying "Hey we're low on supply but we'll send it out as soon as we get supplies" they're just dropping the price by 10 bucks. That's called reducing your costs and increasing your profits. Honestly, who cares about a "making of" DVD? Nobody does but they put a value on it and pretend like a DVD is going to cost them anything. No. DVD's of the nerds making the games that don't show anything too interesting don't get the draw for limited editions. I preordered Fable for the extra content and the figurine, something physical you can display around your computer are cool, DVD's that collect dust and never get any use aren't. Odds are they'll just release the extra content for $4.00 later so anyone buying the limited edition will get the shaft. job you greedy corporate bastards, instead of taking a hit in profits and doing the right thing, you make us foot the bill for your screw up. Get neutered.

This is unacceptable. I agree with previous sentiments mentioned about features and items disappearing from the game.

First it was online co-op disappearing on launch with a "promise" of it coming within a week. Yea.... we all know how developers are about keeping their promises.

Now it's dropping multiple items from the limited edition version? Great.

What's next Lionhead? Will you remove other features and promises? Are we seeing a repeat of Fable 1? Perhaps there will be no dog either?

This is inexcusable. If you weren't ready to meet demand, you shouldn't have advertised it as part of the offer. If the game wasn't ready to be released, it should have been delayed til it was.

All we'll be getting for the LE is a disk...for an extra $20. Oh, sure, we'll get some extra content, but we'd still have to have X-Box Live, which raises the price right back up to $80.

I don't think that disk would be $20 worth, comparing it to Iron Man, which came out yesterday, for the same price.

Another point...What happens to all the previous LE content, the ones already made? And why no LE case? That seems kinda...cheap.

This is all....really unfortunate, actually. I'd even made a place for the little Hobbe guy on my shelf I realize that the making of movie will be awesome, especially since I'm interested in that sort of thing, but I'm not 100% sure I want to dish out more money for a LE that doesn't contain everything it had been advertising up to this point. I mean, we don't even get a fancy box?

I realize that it's Microsoft's doing not LH's, but is there any way we could get a bit more info?; "supply chain issues" doesn't really answer much. Did you guys get more pre-orders than expected? Was there a factory error? Did they raise prices last minute? A bit more explanation might soothe the raving masses a bit.

WOW! you guys are a bunch of effing whiners. seriously you should just be glad they didn't nerf the game. geez. personally im looking forward to watching the making of DVD on my 1080i tv as opposed to on youtube. and seriously if you are angry about not getting the hobbe figure or some pretty pictures then you are probably too young to be playing a mature game anyway. I didn't know being upset that a product you paid for in advance being stripped of it's advertised content made one an "effing whiner".

Ironic that you would attack someone's maturity.

The bottom line is, many people paid $80 in advance because of the advertised content and now they won't get it. If you've ever tried cancelling a preorder or changing it to a cheaper product, you'd know that most stores will only give you store credit back for the difference and will not give you a true refund.

It might as well be a bait and switch.

Dankis, grow up. Seriously. You would prefer to watch it in high quality for 10 for a price? I absolutely love making of videos. I watched the Halo 2 making of all the way up until Halo 3 came out. They are a huge part of LE's for me. But, given the fact that they will be free within a couple days and that the in-game content barely adds anything, it is somewhat disappointing. The real disappointment for me is that we have nothing physical to show what we purchased. I love Limited Edition boxes. Sue me. Plus, they marketed one thing and are selling another thing. All of this combined is what has me really angry. Not one individual thing.

Also, I am 17, and a pretty mature 17 year old, if I say so myself. I have been playing mature games for most of the time I have played games. I am not too young to play Fable 2, so just stop saying that.

dank if you remember they did already nerf a small part of the game remember? the online co-op? sure its supposed to be out within a week but really there is no guarantee that it will come out at all especially after this who knows they have some kind of "supply chain issue" with that as well.

I have to say, I am very disappointed.

First, there was the news about the missing co-op, and now this. I am starting to lose my faith in the game; maybe it's being released too early. I'm not only going to cancel my CE pre-order (it's not worth it for me like this), but I'm also going to wait for a few reviews before I buy the game, just so I won't run into any bad surprises in the game.

It's a shame what is happening with this game.

It's pretty late in the game to drop this information on us. Those of us who pre-ordered early will surely wonder why we even bothered. A digital download consisting of mainly Fable 1 tracks is a uninspired substitute.

If the supply chain is the obstacle, why not issue vouchers to those of use supporting you with our LE purchases. Which should give you plenty of time to sort out your "supply chain" problems and deliver us the package that enticed us to spend the extra money.

Your fans are patient, but not stupid. This reeks of cheapness on your end and you can certainly do better than what you are proposing. At the very least, be honest with us and do not insult us with vague explanations and bribes.

As a consumer I am greatly disappointed, however I actually feel bad for Lionhead right now. I am sure that they were probably more angry than we were when they found out about it. They spent time and money creating everything only to be told that it wasn't happening. I would find that infuriating if I were them. I can care less about the hobbe figure but i really didn't mind it and the gate cards i could care less too i could always look on the internet what im interested in is the extra content, The case, the bonus c-d and the game but like i said i dont care if the hobbe figure is in there or the gate cards but again i say i dont mind them at all but i am disapointed at the case being diffrent and the other flaws, it really lets down those really big fable fans who want the figure but i am happy for the dramatic drop in price..=)

Am I implying that? No. But not everybody relies on one store for all of their purchases. Not everybody buys tons of games either. So having extra store credit at a store you may not use again for a while is a waste when that money could be better spent elsewhere.

And it doesn't matter that it was a box, "toy" and cards... it matters that it was advertised and lured people into purchasing it under false pretenses. What will it take them to strip out before you stop calling people names? People have a legitimate right to be upset about this.

Oh and to BayStone and others, the download stuff Sam was referring to is not available until Oct 6th 9AM PST as his Blog says. I'm seriously disappointed, mostly about the case. The reason I buy LE games are mainly for the LE case. If that's gone too, what's the point? Problems this big don't just arise 20 days before launch.
I am extremely aggravated that I have to deal with a standard edition case with an extra disk. My excitement has dropped significantly.

I really see no point in buying this edition. I mine as well go for standard edition now.

I'm a bit confused how can you have supply chain issues with a limited edition product? If it's limited then that means that there isn't enough for everyone.

Microsoft should have just come up with a third SKU and called it something like the "Special Edition" that didn't have those items but still had the exclusive content and made it 69.99. Shops would have to figure out who gets the limited edition based on who pre-ordered them probably by date and who was there upon release.

So image 200 Fable fans waiting in line at 11:55 pm. An employee registers names and pre-order dates on a laptop for all 200 since they only have say 25 the first 25 that got the preorder would get one and the rest could get the new item at $10 cheaper. Some people would choose the "Special Edition" over the Limited Edition anyway. All in all it would look like Microsoft and Lionhead were adding an option rather than taking something away from fans.

I bet making this post felt like throwing a match at a swimming full of gasoline. Thanks for the update Sam.

Saying that they will have a patch to fix an unfinished feature is not nerfing the game. Nerfing the game would be like saying that you can only buy one house in each town or taking away your dog or some other key feature that. If you would like a mmorpg example then you could look at Warhammer Age of Reckoning which recently came out and shortly before the release they took away 4 of the playable classes and 4 of the main cities.

Prices have been dropped huh? Well, I'll believe it when somebody actually updates their information. Gamestop isn't even selling the LE anymore, it's not even in their product listings online. Best Buy and Amazon still list the LE with all the content and at the original price.
The discount is great....but only if we actually get it. I realize it's not Lionhead's fault, this is classic Microsoft BS.

The biggest disappointment Microsoft could do in the last months. Not only that we here in Germany had to wait for a proper pre-order untill it was less than one month left, we no have no proper package design and no Hobbe Figurine.

There is no real, non digital item, which makes it special.

I don't say that the Making Of won't be really cool and that any Fable 2 would rock, but its digital. I expect the Making Of to be available at Youtube within weeks, as well as the songs somewhere on the net. You can't copy and paste a figurine and a nice package on the other hand

Well said, but it's only that. Receiving such bad news so close to the release date not only make people wonder about the game itself, but the credibility of the company as well. Will we get the game we were promised to or we'll have to face some similar disappointments while playing it?

I'm saddened by the thought that from the most promising title of 2008, in the past few days, Fable II is rapidly becoming a giant question mark.

This is the second time this has happened to me this week.
I orderd brothers in arms hells highway and my pre order got canceled because there wasn't enough even tho they said they had enough.
Now I hear they are taking all the collectable stuff out of the fable 2 collecters edition. I pre orderd this months ago happy and now they are saying that we can't have what we payed for.
I don't want the halo stuff because they have sold there originality by putting that stuff in as well.

Well, I appreciate the efforts to make this sting a bit less; the downloadable Fate Cards are certainly a step in the right direction.
I'm still just as excited for the game as I've ever been, it's just a bit hard to take this particular bit of information, as I'm sure it was for you all as well. I really do feel bad about this whole situation, mainly because of you guys in the studio; it's not your fault but there's no hiding the fact that you guys are going to come under some intense fire from irked customers.
Try to keep the spirits up; just because some of us are a bit peeved at the moment doesn't mean we're less excited about the game. When we get our hands on the disks, I'm sure we'll be singing your praises once again

Is there any chance the Hobbe Figurine can be scanned digitally and a flash or whatever file could be made available where we could grab it and zoom in and out and rotate it around. Basically a 3-D digital Hobbe...I have seen things like this online to show off different products before.

If it weren't for the XBL content still being there, I'd just downgrade to the regular edition. The case was something I was really looking forward to. The cards and the toy, not as much, but you'd at least expect a case to be different on a LE. And while it isn't in you guys' hands per se, I'm still rather upset.

The Co-Op I was hoping to have from the start, as my boyfriend and an old FFXI buddy of ours are all buying the game and want to play together fairly regularly. Granted maybe not from day one, but I'm starting to get worried about *that* making it in time.

That alone wasn't that worrisome, bugs happen, but that coupled with this is putting me a bit on the edge of 'really wary' at this point.

Poor Sam though, always having to be the messenger and getting shot.

I don't know what is going on and whether it could be helped, but part of the reason I wished to shell out the extra $20 was for the Hobbe figure and kick ass box. I am not upset enough to cancel my pre-order, but I do hope you guys make adjustments in the future.

Gamestop is acting like they have no idea about this. Don't they have to change their price if the ERP goes down? There's going to be problems if I pay full price for something that I'm not completely getting. I never pay the last 15 dollars until the day it releases, so I should only have to pay 5 then, right? Even though the new LCE is perfect for me (all I wanted was in-game content and bonus dvd, and I enjoy regular boxes more that the special ones), I have to mention that this is a big disrespect to customers.

You guys haven't lost me, but I agree with anyone who cancel his preorder. Otherwise, we can only be worried about what the market would become : get hooked by an advertised item and get half of it.

First the death system change, then the pub game codes not working, then online co-op coming out as a patch instead of being included with the original copy, and now with the collector's edition being turned into a $70 game with 2 minutes of bonus footage. I'm gonna call gamestop and cancel my preorder. Now i only have to buy GoW 2 and Fallout 3 and spend the saved money on bonus content for those games. I'll just download fable 2 and run it on my modded box rather then putting money into a company that flips on every promised feature in their games and has a boss that doesn't know when to shut his mouth.

You know, I would rather have found out about it 20 days before it came out versus 2 days before it came out... wait, I DID! Now, there is NO WAY I'm going to cancel my pre-order only because I am a FREAK about special features (and yes, I own a DVD copy of almost every VHS version movie I have for that reason alone).

Although losing the little Hobbe figure is a bummer, I am sure SOMEONE is going to offer something similar later. This situation is exactly why Amazon doesn't charge you until the item ships. I am going to take the $10 I get back and put it in a "Hobbe Fund" and just buy some sort of figure that will probably be of higher quality and 10x cooler that what would have been included with this set.

And about the case, I have always purchased the Limited Edition of games thinking "This will finally be the case that I will give a crap about!" and that never ends up being the case (pun intended!).

Regarding the Fate cards, I am glad that they are going to be supplying a PDF version of these. I normally take these kinds of things and scan them, making them in to mouse pads, coffee mugs etc. to keep around the office. Offering these in digital format already will save me the trouble!

As for everybody upset about this "let-down", get over it. I ordered this a month ago, and when I saw the news on G4, I was upset. By the time I got on this blog and read what was going on, I was already over it. I am not going to let something like this linger in the back of my mind while trying to enjoy this game. I like to take the "sh** happens" approach, and I recommend any gamer to do the same. It's when you take a situation like this and allow it to ruin your day that you should take a step back and examine your priorities.

I, for one, say "Get the hell over it and continue to count the days 'til release!"

I'm happy this happened... THIS IS GEWD NEWS... the "collectors edition" whores need to stop being selfish and realize that they are betching to damn much. Are the cards and figurine really important to the point where you have to cancel your order...the tin box will be greatly missed, but other than that you have the MC the special sword, and the energy sword, the bonus DVD that Sam claims to be worth it, and that extra dungeon. If you do the math, all that stuff ends up being worth more than $10 when you have to buy it as DLC later on... so i find that the LCE is a steal...I actually want to preorder it now. But the thing i'm still not sure of is the 2 days of xboxlive gold membership. Does any one know if that will still be in the LCE.

why is everyone complaining so much. yeah, it is a bit of a let down. but come on, who spends $70 on a game just to get a toy. i don't know about you guys but i plan on actually playing the game. those of us who purchased the LCE will still get the fancy cover art on the case. we will still get the bonus in-game content (which is the only reason i spent the extra cash anyway) and they dropped the price. it is now the same price as many other CEs that dont come with as much bonus content. stop bashing lionhead. its not their fault. if they could have fixed it before release they would have. would you rather them delay the game for weeks, or even months, just for a damn toy and some cards that, if you have a computer, you can view anyway. that would piss me off much more.

To me the CE is the straw that broke the camel's back. Sure i was kinda looking forward to the doll and the tin but i still wouldn't care if it wasn't included, It's the fact that they are starting to back out of the stuff they promised would be in the game. If they are having issues with features and are forced to release them in patches or cut them altogether means that perhaps the game is being released too early.

If this was Lionhead's first time at making a mistake like this i wouldn't care but this isn't the first time they've built up their fan's hopes then kick them in the nuts at the last minute. Fable 1 was very short, easy, and lacked several features that had been promised. Black & White 2 was like half a game and was short, very easy, no decent sized battles, small creatures, and a crappy army and battle system. From what i heard The Movies was a disappointment too but i never played it because i'm too stupid for strategy games.

Even if Fable 2 is a great game they should still be punished because they still mislead and lie to their customers despite their sales. They may feel bad but that guilt is going to fade away once they see the money truck pulling up to their headquarters. The only way they're going to significantly change their ways is by having a game that fails so they lose a lot of money and get knocked down a bit. I love Lionhead and Peter and i think they have a fantastic team but they need to stop making false promises.

So after the first 50 or so entries of people being angry and outraged, I decided to skip the rest of the comments because they all seemed to be the same. Sam, I am a huge fan of the original Fable and... I think I can actually call myself a fanboy when I talk about it. So please, Sam, believe me when I say I won't be crying over this news. There are far worse things that could have happened. As far as I'm concerned, the game is finished, there are maybe one or two patches left, and I won't be getting a hobbe action figure (which.. is probably a thing, I don't need my room to proclaim just how nerdy I am any more than it already does). disappointment indeed, and seriously consider canceling the order espically because no discount has been offered since the price drop as of yet, but amazon's page reflects the new information.. Let's see if will do something about it adjusting the price due to the loss of content with pre-orders. Would be rather stupid of them not to, but we will see.

Hey Sam, first off, thanks for keeping us all informed.. you're just doing your job, and the situation is totally out of your hands... But here's a suggestion that in my opinion, will absolutely give Lionhead Studios and Microsoft the credibility they deserve from their clients. My suggestion is:

Don't reduce the price for the Limited Colectors' Edition, keep it the same, you may even give the clients that bought the LE, the same version (box) as the normal one. Just include a little code inside the little game box. With it, all LE clients can go to a website in which you input an address and the code, so that Lionhead and Microsoft can mail the LE Box, the LE gamecase cover, the toy n' all the ies, WHEN AVAILABLE.

In that way.... Microsoft keeps its promise and excellent reputation.... and so does Lionhead !!

My guess is that if you don't... in the future, Limited Collectors' Edition sales are very likely to go down in other games as well.

I'll appreciate the DVD Sam but I really am disappointed that most of what is content in game will be rather impersonal. I also can't shake the feeling that some features, if not all, will be for sale trough Xbox live in a month or two (by order of Xbox high command). I really didn't plan on getting the LE edition until I heard how loaded it was but now I'm sorry I did. Epic Fail. :.(

To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed by all this. It seems a bit strange that we (the consumers) would be told so relatively close to release, and that in turn, Lionhead would be told by the suppliers so late in the development / release cycle. Makes me wonder if someone hasn't dropped the ball regarding supply, but there you go.
Personally, I don't think there's enough here any more to warrant a seperate LE. Make the downloadable content available, fine, give everyone the bonus DVD, normalise the price and be done with it. That way, you don't get people (quite rightly) upset about the contents of the LE pack, and those who preordered get a little something for nothing.
Either that, or as someone has suggested above me, give the LE folks a code to get all the 'ies' when they become available.
I'm pleased that I'm getting the game at a reduced rate (from game.co.uk) but, regardless of what the LE contents are (they could be moonrocks and spacedust!) the fact is that they made it what it is. Without them, well, I personally wouldn't say it's much of an LE.
And after all that, I'm looking forward to the 'Making of' DVD

every now and then today i've been checking this blog and everytime it has grown in comments! honestly it is suprising to see that so many people get so hysterical over a box, a toy and some flat peices of cardboard with whats that? oh yeh, some pretty little pictures! honestly I am just happy that i still get the in game content and the 'making of' dvd (I love watching those by the way, most of the time I find them more enjoyable than the movie themselves, although I'm sure this game will out do the 'making of' vid by heaps!). as well as this at least the case (though somewhat deflated) will have the cool LE artwork on it which I think looks much better in smaller form. Sam you have always kept us updated and I thank you for that! I will now go back to everyday anxiously awaiting your next blog (and hoping we don't get another let down) keep up the work! oh and by the way I'm not too annoyed about the fact that co-op is coming a week late because I am getting my xbox at christmas (hence the username) and so i'll have to wait an extra two months anyway . oh and also I am actually buying the xbox because of this game! how fanatic is that?
P.S. who else is/has bought an xbox becaus of this game? we are the diehard fans!

It's a shame, but no real biggie for me. I'm more interested in the Artwork, making of videos and extra game content. The Figure would have been nice sitting on top of my monitor at work, but it's no big loss. I can't get annoyed over such a simple little thing as this. Really, it surprises me how wound up and irate some people can get over such trivial stuff.

Couldn't they send out the little figures to those that have the LCE later, when stocks arrive? There must be a code in the manual or on the box that can prove you have a LCE. It's been done in the past with PC mmo games from other developers/producers. I got stuff sent to me later on for my LOTRO CE.

Why are hard-core gamers such whiners? It's not like its the end-o-the-world or something. Sure the Hobbe will be missed, sure it bites that we (those that already paid for their pre-orders) are in for a bit of haggling with the stores.

Personally I am just glad that they didn't just delay the product until they could produce enough hobbes. That would have really sucked.

I am dissapointed too, but please people, let us try to break the gamer stereotype and nuance our responses.

fair enough to some people it is just a box, but I have every single collecters edition of my games that came out, and besides all that it really is the principle of the thing. I gave up in frustration and had to buy my pub games because of some mess up with the pre-order codes, after a week of waiting, and I thought that was bad enough.

what burns me most is that Fable 2 was my most wanted game, hell it gives me tummy ache with excitement thinking about playing it - and it deserves pride of place in my collection in a spanky tin case, not just shoved with all the games not enough to warrant a collecters edition case.

Well I've cancelled my LE pre-order (at least I still have pub games), yea the ingame content was tempting and as much as I am a fan of Halo that stuff just doesn't seem to fit the overall theme of fable.

To all the 'not bothered' people who think we are total whiney fanboys/girls (sure some people are taking it to the extreme), I for one wanted the limited edition purely from a collectors point of view, with any game im buying if i have the extra money ill buy the LE, its called an investment (as long as you keep them in condition) I'd even readied a spot for Hobbes in my cabinet

So now im off to order the Fallout 3 limited edition and wait for Fable 2 the price will drop within a few weeks of its release then I'll have a smile on my face. If you're in the UK (and want it straight away) asda has it on pre-order for under £35 which seems to be the best price at the moment.

Hmmm, this is kind of a blow to my excitement. After playing Fable religiously for so many years, and waiting on pins and needles for F2 to come out, I am very disappointed. I paid extra for the EXTRA content. And of course, I was going to put my hobbe figure next to my Master Chief. =] Yeah, I'm THAT lame. I'm glad the online content is still exclusive to the LE. Pretty cool how spartan armor and an energy sword is available. Kind of combining two of my favorite games.

I wonder if we will have the $$ refunded to us for all of us that pre ordered and paid in full.

Anyway, another fable fan disappointed..but I kind of think that the gameplay will make up for all of these misfortunes...after all, isn't that what it's all about anyway?

I completely agree, from Bioshock, Obivion, Viva Pinata, Dead Rising to Forza, Mass Effect and of course my Halo 3 Legendary edition - I love collecting!

With this news, it looks like my choice between Fallout 3 and Fable 2 has been made for me, sadly,I couldn't afford the limited editions for both and Gears 2, but now it seems Fable 2's collecters edition is alive in name only.(because Im sorry you cannot try and tell me that a making of dvd and some dlc you can probably buy with ms points later on anyway is anything close to what you would class as limited edition content)

Honestly, I'm disappointed twice by Lionhead Studios: This news and the news that online co-op wont be in the shipped game.

I like the metal cases, and that's the decision-maker for me spending more money.

With this being my first Lionhead purchase...this leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I havn't even been given a chance to see if the game will be a let down or not.

From what I'm told, you guys pushed Fable I back a few years...why not follow suit and push it back until you could figure out the alleged "supply chain issues". At least it would be consistent.

Are you guys insane!! Do you have any idea how many people have been waiting for this!!!! I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my pre-order and not buying the game at all just because of this bullshit!

It's a LIMITED edition, which obviously means supply is limited. But you guys don't seem to understand that and remove things from the pack just because "there's a low supply"

Besides, pay some more and you've got more than enough to ship every single one of them. We all know you make millions out of this!!!!

My opinion on Microsoft and Lionhead just dropped to a dangerously low level.

It's simply pathetic.

Someone on the forum had a capitol idea. How about putting the price back to the original LE price in all regions and giving us vouchers to pick up the missing LE items at a later date. That way there's still time to produce the LE items and get Fable 2 out on schedule.

This is severely disappointing. I'd like what was promised to me when I layed down the $70 for my CE pre-order. And to say something like this so late? We're about 19 days away and you want to drop another bomb on us? The co-op is understandable because I can wait a couple days to play some co-op, to be honest I'd like to build up my character first. But to hear that we're not even getting a collector's box or the hobbe figure that was promised to us? That's unacceptable.

It seems apparent that you've already had some of the CE products manufactured so I don't think it's so understandable why NOBODY is getting any, you couldn't just wait until you'd solved your problems and then ship them out to the retailers a while after the release? It's been proven that any Fable fan can wait, we've all waited four years for this game.

This has gone from a collector's edition to just a regular edition with some DLC and a bonus DVD. There aren't any collectibles. I'm quite sure people will be gifting the DLC as well and then going back and downloading it all over again and then sending it to their friends again. So it will no longer be special. The DVD will be on eBay, most assuredly, and available for free download the moment it slips into the hands of a jackass.

By the way, do you really expect my printer can actually print on something sturdy enough for the cards? And those are technically for everyone now because you've made them downloadable through the internet and as we all know nothing is untouchable on the internet for long.

I believe someone mentioned vouchers, I find that an excellent idea and clearly, as shown by the decision to make the cards available for download, you listen to the fans. So why not make some sort of voucher and ship it with the CE and then ship the CE stuff to retailers and allow us to present the voucher at the retailer so we can get our CE stuff, simple as that. It's probably simpler than shipping it to the retailers and having them look through their records to see who bought the CE and then shipping it out to their homes, considering how many people bought the CE.

I'm a fourteen year old boy and Lionhead/Microsoft are big corporations run by people that are older and supposedly smarter than me yet you're telling me you couldn't think of something simple like that but a fourteen year old could?

The notion that anybody is trying to turn a profit off this truly is outrageous. With all the cancellations of pre orders and the lack of any substantial content to draw customers in Lionhead/Microsoft will lose quite a bit of money. That's as silly as thinking that Sam doesn't like his job because he spreads nothing but bad news. Sam loves his job, he gets to wake up every morning and piss people off. He sits at his desk all day and reads your stupid comments and laughs at you. Why the hell do you think Sam is pretty much the only one to report said bad news? Because he LOVES it.

Seriously, get your act together Lionhead. I've been a loyal fan since 6th grade when I first picked up Fable 1 and I've done nothing but defend you and try and believe in you ever since. And now we're getting a repeat of Fable 1. I know Fable 2 will be a game which is why I'm not canceling my pre-order. I believe it will be the best RPG of the year. I know you won't cut features or delay anything but it's still getting a little hard to continue to be loyal when you go and pull crap like this 3 weeks from the launch of Fable 2.

This is ridiculous. Here in the UK that $10 price cut will equate to about £5 - which, given that the supplier I ordered from has already put the price UP that amount, means I will receive no discount at all.

I mean seriously - there is NOTHING in the LE that is worth paying the extra for anymore. That extra content will be available on XBL pretty soon, for probably less than what the LE buyers are paying now. The "Making Of" DVD is barely worth having.

I'm pretty sure I'll be cancelling my preorder for this pathetic excuse of a limited edition, and buying the reasonably priced version.

Supply chain issues? Might have been an idea to get those checked out, oh, I don't know, BEFORE YOU PROMISE EVERYONE WHAT THEY WILL BE GETTING? Or, perhaps, BEFORE PEOPLE HAVE COMMITTED MONEY TO IT?

I agree with TerryWrist, PLEASE leave Microsoft. They are the complete opposite of what Lionhead stands for. Microsoft (AKA sociopathic businessmen) care only about making as much profit as possible, while Lionhead stands for doing something different, and making a , honest and fun game which people will enjoy.

At least they're letting us know ahead of time, instead of just keeping quiet about it and then getting all the flack post release when the cards, box and hobbe figurine don't turn up as expected, unlike some other dev companies I could name.
At least Game Uk is dropping their price for the LE due to this and the reduction from Lionshead.
With regards to the supply chain issue, I know exactly what that's like due to working in the construction industry. IE the manufacturer doesn't get enough raw materials to complete all the units you've ordered and you are then scunnered for making the completion date on time.

I'm not too sure what to make of this price drop yet. I have my pre-order through Amazon.ca and it's still listed as $79.99 CAD. I am somewhat disappointed though as this was incredibly difficult to find through an online vendor for shipment in Canada. Most notorious stores (Best Buy & FutureShop) didn't carry LCE; EB Games does, but that was only in-store from what I've seen. Question of the day:

1. Why wasn't the LCE offered worldwide (i.e. in only select regional areas)?
As mentioned it was a difficult find for an online vendor.

For me this is pretty disappointing because I was excited about the hobbe figure, special case, and fate cards because the wireless router I bought from microsoft dosen't work (another screw up by microsoft). The music download is useless for me because I got the Fable Soundtrack. This is a let down for me but I guess me and everyone else will have to get over it.

I doubt that they will move the price back to $80, create vouchers and ship the content to each person. It would cost them too much and they would be losing money.

I only request a few things, change the art on the box (all around) to something special for the Limited Editition and to at least sell the hobbes seperately.

Yeah.... Get this. I paid for the pubgames with MS points....because I wanted to play right away and figured I would hold off on getting the game. Then I see that the game came with the Hobbe, and the cards, in a cool looking box, with extra content and I figured, Hell, how can I pass it up? I will never preorder again. I had this damn game paid off. So far Gamestop acts as if this never happened, I am sure to keep from losing money. I hope you guys put the horn to MS, cause they sure put the horns to your fans.

I'm not that upset about the fate cards or figurine, but I think the case would have been cool and it's unfortunate that after taking such careful time with the game that they would change the CE three weeks prior to launch.

Oh well, I'm still in this 100% with Lionhead, and I know that Fable 2 will open the eyes of gamers.

Prove to me that this will be the most ultimate game I've ever played in my life and I will promise you my undying gamer loyalty regardless of dinky toys or a metallic case

Jesus christ, there could at least be a special case goddamnit, its not even a collecters edition anymore, it just has a dvd with it, and yeah, it might be interesting, but how many times are you really gonna watch it? To be honest, the current CE should be maybe £5 more than the normal game. The extra content has to be downloaded so you're not [i]actually[/i] getting it with the game, its not like lionhead paid extra to put it on a special game disk.

This is just Lionhead cutting corners to beat Fallout 3 to the shelves because they know they don't have a better game.

I have no doubt MS will push to package the Hobbe figurines and Fate cards that HAVE been manufactured for individual purchase. I also fully expect the "exclusive" LE content to become available for purchase in the future with MS points. That's just how they operate.

Yes it's unfortunate there's been a change to Fable 2 CE content. Does "However, due to supply chain issues**" mean nothing to you guys?

It's pretty bloody obvious that Lionhead, have done their absolute best to try and get the excluded content produced by the deadline. It's also pretty bloody obvious it's simply not going to happen, because whoever produces this CE content has either jacked up their price, or a huge bungle has been made. Lionhead would've made efforts to have all this sorted out a long way in advance. I'm 99.9% sure this is the fault of the suppliers.

What do you want Lionhead to do? Use their will powers and create a bazillion hobbe figurines and boxes? What's more important, having your $5 figurine and $5 collectors box, or the $60 game? I swear I haven't seen more people frothing at the mouth, over something so trivial and unimportant, in my entire life.

This is Stupid! The DVD Content is just gonna be the rest of the freaking Dev Diarys, hence why they just dropped off the face of the planet one day, LH knew that the LE wasn't going to happen, so they stopped the Dev Diarys and burnt them all to a dvd, to stick in a LE box.

First of all people should be happy that they kept the best stuff like the in game content and second what were you people going to do with the hobbe firgure and the cards?. Most likely let them collect dust after awhile. One last thing i would like to point out it clearly states Microsoft did this and most games give you less or the same content for $79.99. They cut the price down most wouldn't bother. so don't blame Peter Molyneux.

Personally, I don't mind if I don't get the figurine and the cards, the box I would of liked - but nothing to be upset about. Fable 2 has gotten off to a very rocky start, confusion over pub games, pub games being late, exploit in pub games, this CE business, co-op, I wonder if there will be any more problems around the corner?

AlbionsManWhore I can with absolute certainy say that the Making of feature on the bonus DVD is not just "the freaking Dev Diaires". It is a complete new, never-seen-before video of over 30 minutes long, filmed over the course of almost 2 years and some of it you will have seen in the dev diaries. It follows the structure of the diaries (because simply that's how I filmed it) but it is new and you won't have seen most of the footage etc...

i just like to point out that non of the stores in the uk have altered there prices and some are still using the old pictures containing hobbe figure to advertise the game is someone going to tell the retailers that there advertising things they cant sell although zavvi does appear to have altered the contents they are still using the picture. i would also like to register my annoyance at this development and while i know that microsoft is not to blaim its just another slap in the face to 360 uses that have to put up with delays and dissapointment even if it isnt microsofts fault. i do hope the game is able to live up to expectations otherwise your going to have some very very annoyed loyal fans and the problem with that is once u lose a proper fan it damn hard to get them back. and i really think that you guys where pulling ure fingure out to ensure that F2 was amazing even if u werent the guys resoponsible i would have thought u would want it to go off without a hitch instead we get this. Im sure u dont enjoy this but i hope that you can understand where a lot of this anger is coming from especially with the free pub games stuff that we hade to endure in the UK. It really isnt that much fun having to *** around cause someone droped the ball cause its the fans that suffer. Any i will still be getting my copy of Fable but ill do it knowing that it could have been better and that once again lionhead (througth what would apear to not to be there fault) cant follow throught with there promises. i mean if ure not sre somethings going to happen dont announce it for flipps sack.

i just hope that the game does live up to expectaions and i wish u guys every success with its launch.

It's a little disapointing... Lionhead and Microsoft obviously have a reason why they're doing this, they said they were sorry. You guys aren't gonna die just because you lost $10 and you're not gonna get an action figure. Lionhead worked their butts off for the past what? 3 years? The game comes out in less than a month, and LH made it up to us by making a great Video Diary 7! Fable II is gonna be great, even if you don't have the LCE, you're still gonna be glued to that TV playing all day.

One of the reasons why i wanted the LE was the Figure, and cards.
However there are still greaat things about hte LE.

So what else is on the bonus DVD? Surely a 30 minute (OMG ALL NEW FOOTAGE) Dev Diary isn't the only thing? (which will no doubt start with a 5 minute shot of the duck pond, and the road, and that sign in front of the offices, then another 5 minutes of staff mugging)

And oh man, PDFs! Woo! Spare no expense!

I guess the music is a nice gesture, but I'm not gonna count those chickens yet.

Yeah, I dunno if I really care to pad the release day $s of this game any more. I think I'll take up Gamestop's offer to "adjust my order" and just cancel until the game is REALLY released. I'm sure there will be some "limited" editions still on the shelves months later, but I might just go ahead and get one of the "regular" boxes and DL the "exclusive" content WHEN it becomes available, or get one of the "exclusive" content voucher cards elsewhere.

See, that's the problem. There isn't anything in the "limited" edition to warrant it being called "limited" any more! There's nothing in the box that can't be easily mass-produced for pennies. Lemme look again... two discs and a voucher card. Big effing deal. That's not limited. LIMITED means there's something in the box that's in LIMITED supply.

You should rename it "unnecessarily more expensive edition".

AHHH wtf dude... I cant understand why LH wouldnt have the flippin rescources to get this stuff to their fans. I mean, Ive been with them from the original B&W and then to fable and then B&W 2 and now fable 2 but I WONT be getting the damned case cuz somebody didnt do their job... typical.

jez... Why dont they just finish the game instead of shipping us less then half of what we were promised. this sucks. thing this only happens in gaming would hate to get a new car without a steeringwheel and brakes just because they didnt have time to develop them.

So whats the point in getting the limited collectors edition now? we get a slightly different box and an extra dvd with the dev diary that we've been seeing online for months? Then we get some cards in pdf that most of us cant print properly and the soundtrack from fable1 which I already own and some 3 tracks from the new game. Yay.

I was looking forward to the special box and figurine(got a small collection of videogame figurines from CE games).

So my suggestion is still the same, Finish the game, make sure the LCE stuff comes with it and sell it in a few months. We've waited this long we can wait some more. Heck i'd even pay more for it then this halfarsed package we are recieving.

Abit disappointed about hearing about this. I was looking forward to the Hobbe figurine and Fate cards but it's not like people can't live without them. Atleast Lionhead are making efforts to compensate for it, what with the free downloadable soundtrack and Fate Cards PDF. Ofcourse they aren't the same as what was promised before but it's not Lionhead's fault that this happened, and I think it's very that they are atleast trying to make it up to the fans.

I am a bit sad to hear we will not get a special edition case with the game. But I am still excited to get the game, as well as Lionshead telling us and dropping the price because of this small problem. I do not think other companies would do that. My faith is restored! For me it's not a big deal as i was only interested in the additional content, but i do get angry when people post on here telling people to stop crying over a toy, cards and the box.
This is supposed to be a limited edition, theres a reason why it's called a limited edition. If you look at every limited edition game sold you will see that the box makes all the differance.
I just hope the LE DLC is exclusive to the LE and will never be available online. If the regular edition buyers get that content later on i will be very angry.
I also have Farcry 2 and Fallout 3 LE on preoreder, now that's what you call a limited edition.

Wow I can't believe I almost read all of these posts!!
I was about to complain myself here but with what was it? 70 or 50 posts left and I simply got over it... And I am a HUGH F**KIN COLLECTOR GEEK!!! So yes I wanted the tin box so that my Fable 2 would survive an atomic blast while I withered away, I wanted the Hobbe (it's called an ACTION FIGURE!!) cause I thought it looked cool in a (very) geekish way and the fate cards I would absolutely frame that in...

But now I'm just quite lol... u know... (those that don't care that much know what I am talking about)

I am still getting DLCs and Sam's (awsome) "Making of" DVD... I'm completely cool with that...

I am ok with no fate cards and little ok with no hobbe. But how in the word do you know have a tin box. 18 days before too!! I bragged to my friends oh i am so happy i cant wait. I have always loved Fable. But I am sad to say that i am really dispointed in Lionhead. You better come out with some differnt downloadable content too. Screw the armour i better some how get a freaking warthog or banshee. that would make up for it.

Odd, the idea of sending out vouchers for the CE stuff when it becomes available has been mentioned like 5 times. The idea to make the Fate Cards into PDFs was mentioned once. Which has been done? On the subject of money, I ordered from Amazon and I'm not getting any money back. I have paid in full ($80) for the CE and I'm not getting what was advertised. Since I will be receiving no money back because of this change in the product what you've done is technically illegal.

I'd like a reply Sam, I'd like some information that goes beyond just "supply chain issues", and I'd like to know if it is possible for the Voucher idea to be put into action. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll tell you what the idea is.

You make some vouchers for the CE stuff, you ship them with the CEs, the people who ordered the CE will get them and then when you have the products ready you ship them out to retailers, people with vouchers go to the retailers and present the vouchers and then they receive their tin case, hobbe figure, and cards.

I'm quite certain a plan like that would work, and I honestly don't care when it's put into action. Whenever you happen to have the CE stuff ready, whether it's by winter or by spring, I don't care. I just want my collectibles.

I fail to see how these 'supply chain issues' cannot be resolved. Microsoft is probably the most successful non-power (gas/electric/water/oil) company in the world with a revenue of $60,000,000,000 (sixty billion). If they wanted this done they could of done so VERY easily.

I'm in no way blaming LH, as I know their hands are tied - I am however, blaming Microsoft.

this is a terrible short comming of both lionhead and microsoft. i am a true fan of both and have not given up hope that they will find a way to do the right thing by thier fans. both the voucher and the pdf idea are steps in the right direction. one of the things that might scare the reputation of both studios is the fact that most stores and internet sites that took pre orders are not correcting the price and still charging customers for things they won't recieve.
so please from the bottom of the heart of a gamer that bought fable 1 twice just to play the lost chapters and still loves playing them, PLEASE make this right some how.

So, let me see if I have this right. I get 10 bucks back from my full-pay pre-order, and bonus in-game content. But, the cards, figure, and 'special' box are gone. Hmm, got rid of crap I don't need, kept sweet content, and received $10 dollars. Not seeing a problem here.

Draven sounds like he was going to put the box on the mantle as a centerpiece, yet now he wants to cancel his order and buy guitar hero??? Bi-polar much? The fake plastic guitar will look better on your mantle anyway. (yeah, sarcasm)

I'd be happy with a paper CD-slip that had "Fable 2" written on it with a Sharpie. Give me a game, not a bunch of junk. As for the online multiplayer -- it's coming. Would you really want to get your game then immediately jump into online co-op with someone else who has no idea what they are doing? I guess it wouldn't be bad, but still.

I wish I had thought of this earlier, but oh well. To the folks who insist upon whining - do you remember a few years back when you bought the original Fable? I do, in fact I still have it - the LE set. I remember paying $60 for it, while the standard edition was $50, remember that?? More importantly, do you remember what the difference was between the two editions --- a Bonus DVD... says so right on the box.

Now we jump to the future where "Collectors Editions", "Limited Editions", and "Limited Collectors Editions" all need to come with a bunch of toys and kitsch (mean junk), because its what's expected, and you'll pay more for it.

You and I were going to pay $20, for $0.35 cards, a $1.25 box, and a $0.70 figure (est. production costs). BUT!!! Now we're paying and $10 for what we got last time around plus bonus content.

Not sure if our bonus content will be available for non-LE buyers later via xbox live... and I don't care. You shouldn't either.

Use your extra $10 to get a bottle of vodka, rum, or whiskey (or 3 redbulls for the <21).

I love you guys, I really do, but this is completely unacceptable. I'd like to chalk it up to typical Lionhead over-promising and under-delivering, but in this case I've shelled out cold hard cash (in a pre-order, mind you) for something that I'll never see.

At the very least, you should give us more than three measly sample tracks. What would it cost you to provide every one of us who pre-ordered the special edition a complete download of the Fable II soundtrack? That would make things at least a little more fair.

You don't disappoint your fans and then offer them crap in return. If you're having manufacturing difficulties then find a way to really reward our loyalty by giving us MORE than we would have otherwise had.

That is the 3rd strike for Lionhead in my book. If they're going to break a promise this close to the release date, why should I even trust that the game is going to be any ? I paid $80 in full for the LCE back in AUGUST. Pub Games were terrible, and now some unknown consequence exists for having cheated in game. This is bound to be another Mercs. 2 case, over hyped, and now we are slowly being let down by all these small, stupid details until we get hit by a big one, like no online coop upon release date, oh wait that is a big one. I am getting my money back today, what a let down.

I really dont think this argument is made from people's anger or dissapointment in not getting the special case or the figurine but the principle. I can't speak for everyone when i say this but i say it from my own oppinion.

I really could care less about a happy meal toy and a box that i could one day use as a weapon in the event of zombies but we, as consumers and loyal fans of lionhead products, were promised something. We were promised that when we made a financial transaction, we would get exactly what we thought we were paying for. I dont even know if i am getting my excess money back and i couldnt really care because even if i get my money back, and even if i get a few songs and a hearty "Cheer up, and have a lolly" from the lionhead PR, i am still not recieveing the product i have paid for. The product i have been promised.
Lionhead has broken a promise of not only trust, but of a financial transaction, and no amount of bells, whistles and bottles of the T-Virus cure can repair that.

All and all, I couldn't care less ...

I'm still getting the LE and I'm really happy I was finally able to pre-order it (even though my xbox died and I need to get a new one before Fable 2 comes out).

It is a shame for the fate cards and partially for the hobbe figurines and all ... but the main things are still there and I totally want the Making of DVD.

Sam did an amazing job so far with the Dev. Diaries so I'm sure the DVD is going to be really amazing too. Especially with all the secrecy and caution involved in the making of Fable 2 and the leaking of info to the fans.

So maybe it is because I'm just a big fan boy of Fable I'm getting the LE because I think the game on its own is already really special and with all the involvement the LH forums provided I would like a "special" version of the game to settle this past 2 years (since F2 was announced).

Besides, the fate cards will be available for download, or so I heard.

Okay really, to everyone that has scuffed and kicked the dirt proverbially speaking about items missing out of the Limited Edition, how sad are you? Comments like "I'll wait a year so I can get my stuff" just prove you've missed the point completely.

Yeah it's great to want and get extra stuff, the point here is you're getting A VIDEO GAME. That's really what we all want, and some people on this board have missed the point. I'm not gonna wait longer just so I can have a Hobbe figurine, a special box to hold my game or cry over some trading cards.

Hey, we're here to game. And frankly, it's saddening to see people act like whiny little babies because they didn't get their way. And if you haven't figured out what "sad tales with the supply chain" means yet, it's generally either the suppliers tried to jack the price on Microsoft/Lionhead or the manufacturers of the products experiencing financial hardships. I've seen it happen before with special edition items and not just limited to the game industry.

Bottom line, they dropped the price 10 bucks. You're still getting the Fate cards just in a PDF format. You're missing out on a Hobbe character and cigar box, okay fair enough but I doubt a small figurine and cigar box really equal out to a 10 dollar value.

The point here is the game. And everything special we're supposed to get as Limited Edition buyers for the game, is still there. We're still getting the weapons and armor, we're still getting that extra dungeon. We still got pub games for free.

So what if using the cheat might have an affect on you in Albion when you first start the game? I guess no one thought Peter and Co. would be sneaky enough to have your morality on a pub game trail over into the full game, just like the gold and items. Isn't the theme of Fable "Every choice has a consequence?"

You know for all the negative that I keep seeing, I'm still not seeing a reason for people in this community to freak out like they have. Sure online co-op isn't immediately available. Ever consider they want you to get moving on YOUR GAME first and then experience co-op? And hey maybe if you try local co-op, you might find you don't like it that much and you can skip online co-op.

Yes it sucks, but for every bad, there is a . The game is truly why you bothered to spend the money. The story will be there, your game experience will be there, your choices will be there, just chill out. Relax.

And yes, if online co-op doesn't come down the line, then I will be right there with you guys. Raiding Lionhead, Peter running for the basement, writing his last entry in his Tales Of Lionhead journal and wondering if he saw his dear Sam amongst us (and yes that's a hint for everyone to go check out the Tales of Albion page on the main Lionhead site and NO I don't work for Lionhead, the stories are just that interesting).

Yes, we are getting the game. I don't think anyone has argued that we won't be getting and enjoying the game... well except for those who have canceled their orders outright and are boycotting Fable 2, but that's just childish.

However, you are missing the point that those of us against the cuts are making. The entire point of buying a Limited Collector's Edition is to get neat little bonus things. Many people have said they may as well just buy the Regular version since the things that were cut were what made the LE so special.

I personally know people who don't care about "making of" stuff. I will probably watch it once then permanently shelf it. Sure there's the DLC, but we haven't been 100% assured that Microsoft won't decide to make that available to the public as well. Under that line of thought, what is the point of buying a LE version if you can get the same thing by paying about the same amount of money.

The little nick-knacks that a lot of people said are "garbage" are precisely the kind of things people like me enjoy having. I could have enjoyed it even when I wasn't playing the game. I could have taken it to work with me and set it on my desk with all the other trinkets I display to let everyone know how weird I am.

I will admit I am one of those who acted a fool and said I'd wait another year for the game if it meant the LE stuff would be included. I wouldn't want the game to be delayed, but I do think Microsoft could have handled the situation better by delaying the LE stuff until the supply problem was fixed and sending us vouchers to pick the missing items up later.

Hm.. well.. it's just a bit of a let down, more of a *sigh* let down then "Oh my "#)("#)( God I am so pissed!" let down.
Most of all because they just "changed" the collector's content, it feels wierd.
I liked the homemade hobbe better than the collector's ones though, but still it was a nice thing, sort of like a "proof" that your dedicated to the fable series .
The cards and the premium box would have been awesome so those two are the biggest let down.. but however, it could've been much worse, atleast we've got bonus DVD But I would've loved to have the official soundtrack aswell..

Sorry for my wining.. and it's not like they replaced Fable 2 with Superman 64 because the game will kick ass anyway!

i really don't mind either way, it would have been nice to have the box and the Hobbe, and the cards, but i'm not all that fussed. the promise of a set of spartan armour and an energy sword more than makes up for it, now i just have to connect to XBL in my halls, which doesn't seem to work

one thing though, surly by now you would have been in production for the now cut bits and bobs, so does that mean that some of the preorders will get these, or is it all being cut from everyones' preorder?

Sam, What do you think of the 'Voucher' idea that is being brought forth?
Is this something you would consider bringing forward to your next staff meeting? Or have you? If so what does the team think?

I have to be honest, This forum is the first time I've heard of the co-op being postponed. Even if it takes three weeks or two months, I certainly hope the Lion Head team can get the co-op back in order and released to it's fans. The co-op was one of the major features that attracted me to Fable II.

i understand that most are upset about how the LE changed, but that is now reason to start flaming lionhead or microsoft they would never what this to happen and the fanboys who say they cancelled their pre-order, your not really a fanboy

Those that say lionhead does not care about us just look at the trouble they go through to try to make us happy they didn't have to do any of it they could have just said that the LE edition was cut and went on the way.And to those that mock us for being mad about a figurine, cards and case, the reason we bought LE is so we could have extra and your mocking does not help the blow
