    The tale of Panaka

Prologue: When two gods fall in love, an orb sometimes appears. The egg is a blue sphere, with glowing lights. After a few weeks, the egg will disappear and in it;s place will be an infant god. This is what happened when a young, weak, Aztec god Zatl, met the also young and weak Kalas, of the Norse. When the god was born - baby gods are born as toddlers with no powers, and grow as humans until they reach the age of about sixteen when they become gods and age much slower - they named her Panaka. When she was the age of seven, however, something terrible happened. A Greek invasion began. The ships arrived, and took the island. Knowing they were doomed, they had no choice but to leave Panaka with a human family on another land - it had been kept a secret from her that she would soon be a goddess - and to flee. Reluctantly, the two gods visited the Japanese, left Panaka at the orphanage and tried to hide from the Greek god.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Weak, Zatl? are you talking about the same Zatl that is in your other stories. Its a nice idea, exploring a different way that gods are created.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 1 - A new god Like any fourteen year old, Panaka was outside. But it wasn't just any day, however. The sky suddenly turned dark, and bursts of light appeared. That only meant one thing... a new god was being created. Like a meteor, it fell and crashed into the ground, bringing up clouds of dust. "Japanese people... I am your god, Nokja!" The god roared. Over the days, Nokja made life very good for the people. Baths, ampitheatres and hospitals were built, and the once-dictator was removed from power. However, that was all to change. Panaka was with her friend, Malan, and they were visiting the temple where Nokja was. When they arrived, at the back of the queue to see the god, Nokja immediately rose and approaced the two girls. "Tell me. Was your father named... Zatl?" He asked Panaka. Nervously, she nodded. Her parents had kept their godly powers a secret, but had not used false names. Nokja's face fell to a frown. "So... you are his daughter then. If you are destroyed, then the invasion of Eden can take place. The other two can do nothing to help..." He said. "What do you mean?" Panaka asked, but was interuptted. "Guards!" The god roared, and two guards suddenly appeared, dragging Panaka to the altar. "What's happening?" She asked, terrified. "You are to be sacrificed. Nothing can save you, and then you can't save Eden from my friends..." Konja explained. No one but Konja knew that he was actually from another world, another Eden. He had managed to slip into that world to try to find Zatl and kill him. If one of the three who would save Eden were killed, then Eden was doomed. However, Panaka was also one of the three. "What do you mean? I can't save Eden, you have the wrong person!" She tried to explain, but Konja only chuckled. He raised his arm, and Panak, thrashing against the invisible force, was lifted into the air, towards the mana flame.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 2 - Slavery And, suddenly, she was thrown back to the ground. "That was to merely scare you. The slave trade of gods is very rich, and by selling someone as young as you I am sure I can make a nice bit of tribute. A few epics, a miracle or two.". "But I'm not a goddess! Haven't I said?" She screamed, terrified. "You are. Or, at least, you will be." Nokja said. "The slave ships will be here any minute. You better wait for them here." He said. Shaking, Panaka nodded, knowing she had no choice. Nokja walked away, and two guards appeared, in full armour. "Please... let me go..." she pleaded, but the guards did not respond. They had been trained not to feel any emotion, so they couldn't be bribed, threatened or feel pity for their prisoner. The ships suddenly appeared. They looked like they were made of gold, but how could they float? A small portal appeared in front of the three of them and someone stepped through it. "Is this her?" The trader asked, and the guards nodded. "Very well." He grabbed her arm tightly, and Panaka winced in pain. He pulled some ropes from his pockets and bound her ankles and wrists tightly together, then gagged her. "That'll keep you out of trouble..." He muttered, and literally threw her into the portal. She landed on the ship, and looked around. There were many more gods there, all who seemed to be as young as her, and all were tied up. Some had a bracelet of some type, and Panak assumed they were the ones who had already becoe gods. In her current situation, Panak had decided to believe her enemy and she was a god. Why else would she be there? She tried to sleep, and as soon as she put her head down she did so. A guard swung the door open, and everyone who had been asleep woke up. "We'll be stopping soon." He muttered, and looked at a scroll. "I need five of you to fill an order." He said. He picked five at random, swung them onto his shoulder as if they were tiny and walked out. Panaka was one of the five. When they were on the deck, a slave trader god went to her and untied her. At least, she thought he was doing that. Instead, he just took the gag off and loosened her ankles enough so she could walk. "Right. Don't try to run, ok? We will know and we will get you." He said.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Very short chapter... (It's what happens when you relise the storlyine needs a major revision Shocked [:o]!) Chapter 3 - Rescue As the other prisoners approached her, the sky turned black. They all looked up, and there appeared to be two suns. One was the true sun; the other was growing in size, light exploding out of it at intervals. Suddenly, it dimmed, shrunk and disappeared. Or not. In it's place was a dark figure. Though he had light skin, his clothes were pure black along with his cape. He clapped his hands, and Panaka noticed that he seemed to have some form of scar on one of them. But before she had time to think of what caused this the ship exploded, and started to burn blue. Within moments, everyone aboard was dead, be they god or mortal. But Panaka survived; she wasn't on board. Instead, she floating up again, pulled by another invisible force. She was being pulled towards the god who started shouting. Blue flames appeared in front of him and the light appeared again. With a blinding flash, they landed somewhere else. She looked around... there were fires everywhere, and there was a massive battle raging. gods flew above in their hand form, physically and mirically fighting.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 4 - Parnton As suddenly as they'd appeared, they disappeared through another light. They were standing outside a manor, right by a volcano. The god in black strode towards the door. He knocked, then turned round "Come here." He said simply to Panaka. As she did, the door swung open and a young god appeared. "Zatl? What are you doing here?" He asked. "This is Panaka. Take care of her and train her until Eden begins to crumble under the might of the invaders." The god named Zatl explained. "But I can't... the beasts of the underworld will not allow this! She hasn't even been born yet, you can't expect the beasts to allow her to be taken back thousands of years. They'll attack, it is much better if you take her back to her home and give her to my future self. We will not have anywhere near as much time, but you became strong in that amount of time, why can't she?" The god tried to explain. "Parnton, we both know that the beasts are weak compared to the force that will come. You have not seen that force; I have. Not hundreds, not thousands but millions of gods destroying Eden, and all our allies clinging onto one tiny island. If we are to succeed, then Panaka needs to be fully trained by then. Shol and I are prepared, but we can't do it alone." "Very well." Parnton sighed. "Though I don't approve, we have no choice. As for the beasts... we shall cross that bridge when we get to it." Zatl nodded. Panaka watched as, once again, he rose up into a light and disappeared. "Well, I expect you're wondering what this is all about." Parnton said, speaking to Panaka for the first time. "That god. Zatl, was your father. In a matter of weeks you too will be a god, and one that Eden's fate rests upon. That Zatl was from the future, however. The Zatl of this time is yet to exist and the Zatl of your time is weak. You have been brought back to the start of Eden. This, however, isn't Eden. This is the realm of the gods. I believe I have explained sufficiently, have you any questions?" Parnton enquired. "Definetly! When do I get these powers? Will I have them all at once or will they grow over time? Do I get a creature? Can I choose it? Can I get it now? When do I go to Eden? What are the beasts? What's the force you were talking about? What..." Panaka asked quickly, but Parnton stopped her. "There is no need for questions of this kind!" He said, annoyed that she wanted to know almost everything without finding it out for herself. "As for talk of creatures, you can get one now. Come, I shall take you to where they are kept." They walked along a path down the mountain. "This volcano is called Hell mountain. It is the home of evil gods." Parnton explained to pass the time. "But I don't want to be evil. What will I do?" Panaka asked, starting to worry. "Being a good god is foolish. They can't have armies, and their people are cowards. They only worship for the luxuries, all of an evil god's men are loyal to the death." "But still, what about both? Having armies, but not setting you settlements ablaze?" "I suppose that would be the ideal for all of us." Parnton sighed. "But things rarely turn that way. There are rebellions from good people who are against armies and rebellions from the people who want the enemy soldiers to be taken prisoner and tortured. Neutral means rebellion. However, if that's what you want then you may be able to succeed. But there need to be no more talking, we are here." They approached a large, round building, like an ampitheatre. The two of them went through the doors and approached the god who was at a desk. "Hello, Latz. I have come for a creature for this girl." Parnton said. The god looked up. "But she is a mortal! They can't control creatures!" Latz was confused. "Do not forget, you too were mortal once. This is Panaka. I'm sure you remember her. Soon she will be a god, more powerful than you as well." He said. "Oh, that's all right then. So, Panaka, what creature do you want? I know you already want a..." Latz tried to say. "Latz! Zatl had messed up time enough by bringing you here, and bringing the girl here was even worse. But telling her of future events that are so important... the beasts would definetly fight with more fury in their hearts!" "All right, calm down!" Latz said, raising his hands. "So, what creature do you want?" He asked, but started scribbling something on the scroll before she answered. "I do know though, there's no need for me to ask. Unfortunately Parnton is terrified of the gods of the underworld coming to get him." "Well, I would like a tiger." Panaka said, cautiously. She was still overwhelmed by the fact that she would be a goddess soon, and the whole time thing was completely confusing. "Age?" Latz asked. "I don't know... a young one, I guess." She thought. Latz nodded. "Come this way." and gestured through another door behind him. The three of them went through and Latz started to whistle. It was a jumble of notes, none of them making a tune of any kind. Suddenly, a tiger cub came bouncing towards them. "Aah, how interesting." Latz chuckled to himself. "What is?" Panaka wanted to know any little detail that could help her come to terms with what was going on. "This tiger... it's not a creature. Well, not a divine one, it's a mortal tiger. Soon, though, it wil be a god creature. Sort of like you, I guess. It was born from two divine tigers and is still mortal. It's not supposed to become godly for another year, but with you becoming a goddess it should speed up the process. So you should both stop being mortals at about the same time." Panaka was amazed. The tiger was not just suited for her but it was like her, as well. Like a version of her in tiger form. "Is it a boy or a girl?" She said. "You choose when it becomes a creature. You don't need to do anything, it will become what you want it to be. If you dno't mind me asking, what will you choose?" Latz said. "I'm not sure. A girl, I expect." "I know." Latz chuckled. "In fact, she has a..." "We must be going. Latz, hold your tongue of future events!" Parnton interupted fiercely.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 5 - Sword Fighting "What was all that about? How did that god know me?" Panaka asked. Panaka and Parnton had gone back to Parnton's home and she was trying to find out more. "I feared that he would be there." Parnton sighed. "I guess I should tell you everything possible. Well, to start that wasn't a god. That was a mage made by Zatl in his image. The mages now work here keeping records of all kinds. Zatl brought them back here, he said the world was too small for so many of them in the future. It is his meddling that has made this land so unstable! How can we hope to keep the beasts at bay when he keeps bringing people from the future who don't know of their events? It's ridiculous!" Parnton said, getting angry. But he calmed himself down when he saw Panaka's face, she was clearly worried. "But as long as you don't talk to any mages about the future then we will be fine. Latz knew you from the future. You two meet many years from now, and, as prophecised, you save Eden along with Shol and Zatl. Some time after that event Zatl brings the mages here, to the land of the gods in the past of that time. Well, that is the most I can tell you. About the cub; have you thought of a name?" He asked her. "Yes, I have. I'm calling her Caranessa." Panaka said, looking at the small tiger that was curled us asleep by the fire. Parnton nodded. "To fight for Eden you must also have skills of a warrior. Who knows what power the enemy may have, they might be able to turn gods to mortals. We have a very good oppertunity to train you for this since we can't be distracted by the necessity of teaching you miracles for another week or two. Go upstairs and find the large wardrobe. In there is some armour, put it on and come meet me outside. Panaka nodded and left the room, and Parnton found two swords and two shields. He picked them up and left the building. "Don't I have a helmet?" Panaka asked as she stepped out the front doors. "No. If I were to swing my sword at your head you'd die whether you had one or not. It's better not to have one until you find out how to properly defend yourself because if I do get you in the head there won't be as much mess with metal an such for me to clean up. Panaka' jaw dropped and her skin turned pale. She looked at him, thinking he was joking, but she realised he wasn't. "Take these." He said handing her a sword and shield. "I want you to swing at me and see what happens." Panaka nodded and tried to summon the bravery to do that, which was incredibly difficult after what she had been told. She thrust the sword forward at his chest but Parnton quickly knocked the sword out of her hand with his shield and sliced her hand with his sword making her drop her shield. The he did what Panaka had feared. He used all his might and brought it at her head. "If I hadn't had stopped, you would be dead." Parnton said. Panaka opened her eyes, which she had closed tightly when she saw what she was sure was her seath coming, and looked at her hand. It was a deep gash and blood wa pouring from it. However, Parnton just waved his hand and she was completely healed. "Never drop your defence. If the sword is wrestled from you don't drop your shield, whatever you do. If you can, use it as a weapon. If not: flee. It is not cowardace, it is wisdom. Now, try again.". He challenged, raiding his weapon and shield. But Panaka did nothing, she didn't want to go through that again, not after what had just happened. "Or would you rather I came at you?" Parnton asked, kowing that would get her to react. Fueled by terror, she swung her sword into Parnton's shield, and pulled it from his hand. The she somehow sliced his weapon in two with a swipe of her sword. "How is this possible?" Parnton asked, amazed. No human could beat a god in a sword battle and if she wanted to Panaka could drive her sword into Parnton's stomach. She would have won, but Parnton wouldn't die, he was a god. He would heal automatically. But still, even though he had not been in full battle mood and was going easy on her, only a god could even hope to beat Parnton in a sword fight. But Panaka wasn't a god. Not yet. Unless... "Panaka, show me your hand." Parnton said, and Panaka did so, dropping the sword. "It is as I expected." Parnton muttered, feeling the mana run through her. "You have become a goddess already." He said simply. "But how? You said it wouldn't happen for weeks!" Panaka gasped. "I don't know how. However, it is not how or why that is important. You need to be trained in the ways of miracles, as does your tiger. She will be a creature now as you are a god.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 6 - Problems Panaka was starting to get used to her new life. However, Parnton was concerned. She was still a child; it would be at least a few centuries until she was ready to get become more powerful. Even the few weeks that she was supposed to have had as a mortal would have cut down on that dramatically, but aging was much slower for gods. She wasn't taking her sword fighting seriously either; she started running round chearing in triumph afyter decisevly defeating in battle a... bush. Caranessa, the cub, had the same problem. She too would have to wait until she was a true creature, and would probably never grow to be more than the size of a mortal tiger. However, she could walk on her hind legs and cast simple miracles, like a water one and a heal one. However, the heal one was precarious. The force she threw it with usually did more damage than it healed, leaving her poor test subjects (plants that Parnton had enchanted) in agony until either Panaka or Parnton healed them properly. "It's time for more training." Parnton sighed. He had been trying to teach her the way of the sword but it had failed. However, he believed that a bow and arrow might take her interest. "Here." He said handing her the weapon. "It's blessed. Aim it at something and the arrow will always hit it, unless you aim it at a god with some sort of counter-miracle.". "Wow. Can I try it?" She asked. "Certainly. Aim at that blade of grass there." He pointed to a single speck of green amongst the rocks. Panaka raised her bow unsure but, to her surprise, it struck it straight through the middle. "Parnton! We need a house for her, she can't depend on you for her time here!" A god shouted behind them. They spun round and it was the god in black, Zatl, again. "Here, I've brought Shol's home from the future here." He gestured in the direction of another manor - similar to Parnton's but smaller - that was wobbling in the air, and landed gently on the ground. "Zatl, you are a fool. You still bring things through time: why? There is no need!" Parnton said, angrily. "It is necessary, you will find out in time!" Zatl said, glowed into the light and disappeared. "Wel,, I expect you'd better go inside. Take a look aroud it." Parnton commanded. Panaka did so; she had already found out that it was foolish to disobey Parnton. The door swung shutr behind her and then she was inside. Chapter 7 - Luic As she explored the house, Panaka found many things that could help her. A magical staff, scrolls about miracles, everything she could wish for. Then she saw a suit of armour. It was similar to hers but it was on the floor, scattered into pieces. She bent down to pick it up but somehow it did it magically by itself. Incredible, she thought. But then it moved. She gasped and jumbed back in surprise, and the armour lifted it's helmet off. Underneath was a head, sneering. "Foolish Zatl. He has done little more than lead me to you when you're weak. I hid in this house just before he brought it here. Needless to say I came along for the ride too. Now, fool, die!" He roared and threw a ball of mana at her. She would almost definetly die. She tried to duck, but it was no use. It was heading straight for her. She crunched her eyes of in terror, and awaited the end, hoping it would be quick. But nothing happens. She started to straighten up and open one eye, and she saw another god aheah of her, keeping a shield around them. "Luic, you should be ashamed. Attacking a defenceless child... but not only that, not noticing me hiding inside your mind!" The god laughed. He raished his fist and suddenly Luic collapsed to the ground, unconcious. "He will not be like that for long. Come, I can help you escape! My name is Shol, by the way Panaka." He said. The two of them fled the house and started running down the side of the mountain. "But... Parnton!" Panaka said, gasping for breath. "He can take care of himself, but you can't. You are too important to die as well, you must be protected!" Shol explained, pulling her along. There was a yapping behind them and Caranessa caught up with them, running at full speed along side. "Your creature?" Shol asked. Panaka nodded. "So, I need to know, where is Zatl now?" Shol asked. "I don't know... but wait! Parnton said that he will be on Eden in a few thousand years, but very weak." She blurted out and for some reason this made Shol smile. "Well, here we are. The gates to Eden." He said, triumphantly. "Go through and you will be safe, you have my word." Desperate to be free from whoever was after her, she listened and believed him.She swung the gates open and stared. The lush grass and blue seas of Eden weren't there, though. Instead, blackness. "Hah! You're as pathetic as you father!" Shol laughed, an pushed her in. But somehow she grabbed the handle, but was still inside and the wind was pulling her in. "But Shol... they said you were on our side!" She sobbed. "You truly are like Zatl... can't you see, I'm not Shol! My name is Pien, I am an ally of Luic's! We tricked you... it was the only way to get you to come with me. I didn't believe you would be so stupid but you were. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong." He started laughing. And, just to push the knife in a little deaper, he started to explain what would happen. "Your tiger will die too, Parnton will, Zatl will, everyone will perish!" He laughed. But he was wrong. Caranessa, though a cub, was actually quite smart. She had realised what had happened the moment she saw Pien, and had followed to save Panaka. And it was time to do that. With a mighty roar, she ran at Pien and knocked him in. Screaming, he fell into the blackness and vanished. But Panaka wasn't safe. She decided that it was time to take the ultimate risk. Using all her strength she pulled the gate and let go, propelling herself out of the void. But it didn't work. Instead, she feel into the void after Pien, and listened to the mourful howls of her loyal pet.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 8 - The Void Panaka had been in the void for several days. At least, that was her guess. It could have been minutes or it could have been years, time felt very different there. She had heard rumours that it was possible to escape through a hold of some kind, the hole that linked Eden to the void that allowed mortals to use epics. But she didn't believe it. If she was lucky - incredibly lucky - she might see the gates again that led to the realm of gods but that would never happen. Or would it? There was somethig far in the distance; a light. Glowing, get lager by the second but not by much. She watched in awe as it approached, and more detail was visible. They were the gates! But they were a different colour. However, Panaaka didn't really care if the gods decided that the golden colour wasn't really there thing and they changed it if she was able to get out of the eternal blackness. But then it stopped in front of her, the gates closed. She couldn't open them, in the void gods had no body. Was this some cruel trick Luic was playing on her? No. They swung open, and inside were the green lands of Eden. "Grab my hand!" Someone shouted, coming into view. Someone was standing in the gates, putting his hand into the void and clinging to the gates for all he was worth. Struggling, Panaka managed to, but almost let go in shock at the fact that she had her body back. "It's because you're so close to Eden, a god's body only goes when they're deep in the void." The man explained, pulling her in. He slammed the gates shut then lay his hands on the handles. They glowed slightly and then vanished. "So, Panaka, did you tell Pien anything that could help him in the battle?" The god asked. "No, I didn't. No wait." She groaned, disappointed with herself. "I told him that in a few thousand years Zatl will come into existence, and weak. Could he kill him?" "Yes, I'm sorry to say. But don't worry, it's not your fault. They probably cursed your mind so you'd tell them more. My name is Shol. I must be going, since Pien will try to kill Zatl. Good [Good]bye. I believe that a god is nearby, he will take care of you and find you a settlement of your own." Shol said. He summoned the light that Zatl had used so many times, and disappeared into it. Panaka started to walk away, but there was a humming noise and the sound returned along with Shol. "One last thing; catch!" He said, threw something and disappeared before she even caught it. As she grabbed it she relaised how soft it was, and wondered what it could be. But it was obvious to her the moment she saw it; it was her tiger, Caranessa.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 9 - Friend or foe? Shol had pointed her in the direction of a settlement, but he had said nothing of size. Panaka had been expecting something massive but in the distance she saw a very small one, only a few buildings and a Norse centre. "C'mon, we'll be there soon." She muttered to Carranessa who was getting restless. She had decided that she wouldn't walk straight into the Norse land either, she'd stay at hte edge for a while and try to find out about the people there. With the encounter of Luic and Pien she had learned that anyone who seemed to be friendly could be a foe, she didn't even know if "Shol" was on their side pointing her in the direction of someone who could get rid of her. When she did arrive, however, her plan failed. "We've been expecting you, Shol told us of your oncoming arrival." a soldier said, marching up to her. "Right... what else did he tell you?" Panaka asked, wondering if this god knew what everyone else seemed to about the prophecy of her, Zatl and Shol. "Nothing, except that you were attacked by an old enemy of ours and you need somewhere to stay while you get a new settlement." The warrior replied. "Is your god good or evil?" "Mostly good but, as you can see, he has armies. He seems to think there's some relation between "good" and "god" being made up of the exact same letters." He leaned forward and started to whisper "Don't tell him I told you, but everyone thinks he's crazy for saying that! If it were true all dogs would be good and all gods would be dogs, right?" Panaka smiled. She was almost certain that no harm would come to her here, and that they would help her get her own land. "But why are you in the clothes of a soldier? Do gods participate in a form of battle of their own now?" The soldier asked. Panaka shook her head. "This armour is what I was wearing when I became a goddess, and I believe it's good luck. I suppose it's also comfortable." She said, trying to find something to say to the talkative soldier. He nodded. "Come this way then. Oh, I forgot to say! Our god's name is Rarsh.".

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 10 - Rarsh "Welcome!" The Norse god said as Panaka and the soldier approached the temple by the town centre. "We had been told that you were coming, but only very recently. Please excuse the state my town is in, building work here is slow and there are few here that want to ge builders anyway. Anyway, I am sure that we can help you until you are ready to get started on your own. Shol told me you don't know many miracles... is this true?" Rarsh asked. "Yes. I can use heal miracles and water miracles, but not very well." "Fine. We shall be able to help you there then. Some gods would recommend you train, but we are very fortunate. You see, we were at war recently and almost everyone was killed. I was almpost sent to the void but not quite, one worshipper remained loyal and I have become what I am. You may think that almost dying isn't fortunate, but what I got from the spoils of war is. The attacking gods abandoned many scrolls and other magical objects that they didn't want any more, and used my city as a dump. My remaining soldiers collected them and brought them to me. Come with me, I shall take you to them" The two of them walked - Caranessa following behind and the soldier had gone - and they entered the temple. Inside was plain, some green ivy was growing on the walls but very little, and there were only a couple of statues. Rarash strode confidently towards one and lay his hand on the head of it. It glowed slightly, then rotated and rose from the ground. Where it once was was a hole, a dull light eminating from it. "Here we are." Rarsh said, jumping in and helping Panaka down. "What to use..." He muttered to himself, and found a particularly old looking scroll in the middle of a pile. He pulled it out and steadied the rest so they didn't fall. "Can you absorb this into your mind?" Rarsh asked. "How do I do that?" Panaka said. "It's easy, but some gods can't do it. Either you can or you can't, there is no way to train yourself to be able to if you can't, regardless of how powerful. Just imagine it inside your head, and will it to happen." "Ok, I'll try..." She replied incomfortably. She didn't expect it to work, and would she have to read through it all if she couldn't? It looked very big. She did as Rarsh said and, to her amazement, it was gone and she found herself knowing many more miracles. "You know how to cast them, but it will be a few hours until you actually can. Some, however, you can use now. Try a fire one on the scrolls there." Rarsh indicated. She did as told again, and the scrolld burst into flames. "Now, can you fix them?" He questioned. She tried, but failed. "Well, that power will come eventually." He said, clicking his fingers and watching the ashed return to their scroll form. "Can you command an army?" A soldier asked, coming up to her. She had left the temple and was exploring the settlement on her own, Caranessa was with Rarsh's creature, a tiger. "No, why?" She said. "You'll need to if you are to survive."

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 11 - The army "Well, they're in your control." The soldier she had met when she arrived in the Norse settlement said. Panaka had gone with him to a large area of land outside the city, where the army had gathered. Half of them had changed their clothes so they were wearing Aztec armour, and they were to have a practice battle. "You must protect the Norse from the Aztecs. Use the armies, the catapults, whatever you wish." He smiled. Panaka was shaking, not from fear but from excitement. She had always wanted to be a soldier, but here she was controlling one. "You, archers! Climb up that hill!" She shoued, pointing to a small hill with a forest on top. They did as commanded, and then the Aztecs came into view in the distance. "Are you sure this is going to work? Perhaps you should have a better plan..." The soldier said chuckling, trying to distract her. "Mellee troops, stretch out in a line." She commanded a small army. "You, head to west!" she shouted to some more mellee troops. They did as were told and were soon behind another hill. Panaka's plan was to show off the small army as weak, and the "Aztecs" wouldn't see the archers hidden in the forest or the ground reinforcements behing the slope. "Are you going to let the catapults go to waste?" The soldier asked. The goddess shook her head. "Catapults, go behind the troops. Fire at the enemy, and take out as many as you can. Archers! When they come in range, fire upon them. Then the catapults shall retreat and the troops behind that hill can come and help." She smiled. "Impressive." The soldier said, he hadn't expected such a strategic plan. There was a whistling as the catapults fired their ammunition - harmless heal miracles - into the air, aiming at the enemy. They were only pretending to fall when they were hit, but it was necessary for the battle to be of any use to Panaka so they fell down, dramatically groaning from being healed which had Panaka in hysterics. Needless to say, the archers were armed with non-lethal arrows. They were merely blunt twigs, but they fired them with the skill they would have done in a real battle. More soldiers fell down, and then the fight was on. The massive army materialised from behind the hill, and before long fake fighting had ensued. However, the "Aztecs" had lost many of their tough, mighty warriors to the unbelievable horror of heal miracles, and the uncontrollable terror of sticks, and the Norse soon conquered with only a few "casualties". "Well, you're the best commander we've ever had! We've had many, the best from aroud the world, but you're better than them all!" The soldier said, impressed with Panaka's tactics. "I'm sure I'm not." She blushed, but she was secretly grateful for the soldier's kind compliments. "What's your name anyway?" She asked. "Maximal." He replied. "It is a warrior's name." "How long have you been a warrior?" "Only a few months, I became a warrior on my sixteenth birthday." He said. "You're that young? Wow... how come you want to be a soldier so young?" She asked. "I just want to help defend the Norseland, I suppose. You don't look to old either though." "I'm not. I became a godess... I don't know. I guess I'm sixteen at least, I'm sure I spent a few years in the void." She said, deep in thought. "You've been to the void?" The soldier asked, curious. "What is it like?" Panaka shuddered. "Terrible. If I ever go there again I don't know what I'll do. It was terrifying." She said, and Maximal saw she was clearly upset. He put a hand on her shoulder. "Well, with your skill I'm sure that won't be a worry for you." He smiled. Panaka smiled back, and the two of them started to head back for the Norse settlement, where the soldiers had already gone.

    Re: The tale of Panaka

Chapter 12 - Disaster Rarsh, Panaka and Caranessa were training again. "Right, have you managed any more miracles yet?" Rarsh asked. Panaka nodded. "I can fix things now... some things, anyway. There's other miracles I can do too, like meteors." "Right. Now you must train your creature." He said. "How do I do that?" "Well, just take Caranessa round
