What era would you like to make games in?

The movies will start around 1900 and go through to the present day, but what era are you most interested in? I like the idea of the early days... 1 camera, no special effects... no sound... just a few cheap actors. Or do you want to make Matrix reloaded style blockbusters?

to be perfectly honest, i would like it if the whole thing was well rounded with each era being about as fun as the next. if i HAD to pick i would say make the earlier films (maybe 1900-1930s) really fun and the later films (1990-present) really fun because i've seen a lot of good black and white movies from the earlier parts of film but everyone likes cool matrix style blockbustersHappy [:)] edit:are u just curious cliffski or are u asking to get input that will affect the game. either is fine by meHappy [:)]

I'd like to start in the 1950s and move on, that'd be cool enough for me. PS: Are the actors gonna speak english when they act or speak gibberish or somethin? ThanksHappy [:)]

1930's just so I can make Gangster films - in there pin stripe suits and spats. Owww then I can dub over in an Italian american accent : "He'sh Gotta Tommygun" I really should get out more...

Gibberish. You will never get all dialog in a game like this in English, because the cost of recording voice talent for every country, plus the physical space on the CD means its just not viable.

spats.... yeah they will be essential. and gangsters with violin cases.

Hey everybody, My first post on this forum. Pardon my english if it sucks at times, but I'm from Sweden, so bare with me. Happy [:)] I think that all the diffrent periods will prove interesting. If they are distinguished with much differances. I mean most games get boring when all you can do is play the same thing over again when you advance in the game, just with other graphics. I mean let's take a RTST game for instance. If you can build tanks for battle at first and miners to mine for you, then when you are close to the end of the game the only thing that has changed is that you are now building mega-tanks and super-miners. Well then you just want the bloody game to be over. Now if the different time periods are different from eachother, not just the costumes and such, then they all will be interesting in my oppinion. I mean, going from just using one camera and a bunch of low-payed actors to having multiple cameras and finally getting over the star power from a rival studio and putting out an epic, blockbuster success instead of the horrible comedy flicks you started with, well then everything should be great Happy [:)] That's just my 2 cents Rock on

I'd be quite interested in re-creating films similar to Blade Runner or Tim Burton's Batman. Don't need loads of special effects; just a few decent (dark) sets. Happy [:)]

I would like to work in the silent era and probably do sci-fi movies and action later on

    i wonder

Would you be able to jump back and forth era wise? like you are on 1960's and you could use the techlogy from the 1940's or 30's for your movie (like some weird independent film)

I'd pick silent movies. Apart from not needing voice-over (I'm shy =), the actors really need to express themselves physically. I hope 'The Movies' portrais (portays?) that. Charlie Chapling, Buster Keaton kind of movie would be neat. But in contrast, I'd love to have in my hands a large crew filming a blockbuster. BTW, will we be able to tell where actors have to go and when? Or is that scripted? Scripted to the picked scenes? I know you can place cameras where ever you want them to be. As with sets. (Which I heard can be built, and you can use your own background imagebank). I'd be fun if you could have a Second Unit, filming something on another set , too. Gah, I'm way off topic. Anyway, I'd try Silent Movie Era. Black & White movies. =P And just a piano playing in the background.

What about adding your voice, or others into the game through a microphone. Or has that already been done? That way we could have the voices we want and we could make changes to how high or low you want the voice ect.

I Wanna make some early 80's low budget horror movies like the Evil [Evil] dead

There will be all sorts of excellent stuff for silent movie lovers, including some great overacting and comedy chaplin/buster keaton style stuff. There are already some hilarious scenes scripted in this kind of style. Im a big Harold Lloyd fan myself. He had better theme music Wink [;)]

Hey! I'm new but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. I remember someone saying something about a Zelda movie, and I think that would be freakin awesome (as long as you can actually do something to that extent). I'm not really sure what era I would like the best, but I would definitely like making some sweat movies with all of the special effects. Of course, making really early silent B&W films would be fun too. Especially some slapstick comedy like the three stooges. I would have a blast making those. As I mentioned, I'm new here and I have a few questions. I know that you can choose what type of movie to make; comedy, horror, drama, etc. But how in depth can you go from there, besides just choosing the script, and are there a lot of scripts to choose from? With the sets, how many designs do you have to choose from? I'm mean, I read some people saying they want to make all these different kinds of movies, but since you have to choose the script, do you have control over that? Oh yeah, and I think you should be able to go to different on sight locations. (just my opinion) Not tons of places, but some. Okay, I'm done, sorry I wrote so much.

Okay, sorry, I have a few more questions (just want to know how eager I should be) With the whole special effects and everything, what can you do? I know you won't be able to just design your own special effects, so are you just going to have to choose from a whole group of effects already made? Also, how long do years last in this game? I don't want them to just fly by and have the game end after only ten hours of playing time. Oh, and does anyone know when this is supposed to come out? I haven't seen anything. Can you make musicals in the game? I think it would be hilarious if you could make a 50s movie like Grease with everyone's cool T-birds and high school jackets.

Hey, pennstate, thanks a lot. That website actually did answer quite a few of my questions, and it was just interesting to read.Big Smile [:D] Oh yeah, and The Hulk still doesn't suck!Mad []

I think it would be real fun to make some good westerns in the 50s or 60s, with some pretty brutal bar fights (as long as the public will go for that at that time) But it would definitely be awesome to make huge epic adventure movies like the Lord of the Rings. Once I get to the point where I have hundreds of millions of dollars I just spend it all on one huge movie and see how well it actually does. If I go bankrupt, oh well, its still only a game (it will give an excuss to start a new file) And just one question. If you do use all of your money and have pretty much gone bankrupt, does the game end?

the hulk sucked is an enormous understatement
  •  09-13-2003, 3:47 285987 in reply to 269872

Okay! I'm sick of this Hulk thing! I know I had a lot to do with it but I quit! I liked it, you didn't, lets just leave it at that....great! Now could someone answer my last question please? (What happens if you go bankrupt?)Sad [:(]
