My game glitched with my spouse after I came back from the Spire.  I went to the Demon door home and he was no where to be found.  One thing I remember doing was I gave him a ring for a gift...then the game said I needed a marital home...we were already married.   Thinking nothing of it I left to the Spire, came back and no one was home.  I am wondering if by giving your spouse a ring for a gift after marriage if that triggers a glitch....

I had the same glitch and I also gave a second ring after the wedding.  It especially sucks because now I have to "go see my family" to finish the last quest, and I can't.  The breadcrumb trail leads me to the region my spouse lives in, then disappears.

I had the same thing im on the mission were i have to find my wife and befor i gave here a ring but i found her shes just not my wife i says she's just Gail the furniture seller.

Same thing happened to me, gave Alex (from the ghost quest) for the second time a ring and got the "engagement" message, left for the Spire Quest. When i came back Alex was missing (Still in the family screen as "happy") and my kid just stands there (house) without saying anything.

Is there an option to revert the game to an earlier state?



 

I can't complete "The Rescue" quest because of this. I also gave my wife a second ring.

I have the exact same problem after returning from the Tattered Spire- missing wife and unresponsive child.

For the purposes of the investigation...I too gave my wife a second ring just as gift when I had the money to get a nicer ring. Perhaps there is a connection. For further reference, I didn't marry the "Alex" from the ghost quest, but I did marry "Alex the Housewife" from Bowerstone Market. I also set a nickname for her. Interestingly enough, now that my wife is missing, I have seen another "Alex the Housewife" (still not "Ghost quest Alex") wandering around Bowerstone Market. This is definitely not the same NPC I married previously.

One other bit of information for the Developers- I also proposed to my wife at the Demon Door and had our first home at the cottage before relocating to Bowerstone Market.

Hope they get this fixed- I'm shelving Fable 2 for now and moving on to Gears of War2 since this seems like it needs to bake a little longer. Hope it gets fixed soo- I was really enjoying it up until this point and hate putting it aside.

I'm also missing my first wife after the Tattered Spire mission and my kid is not responding to anything.

My wife is having the same glitch.... she married the Alex from the ghost quest, and then proposed in front of the Deomon Door in Oakfield. I don't think she ever gave him another ring, in fact i'm pretty sure she didn't......now the child is there and IS responsive.....but the husband is nowhere to be found......we've tried everything we can think of to make the game unglitch....we set the budget to zero, to see if the husband would divorce her, it says that "your spouse is threatening divorce" but it's been that way for a WHILE now. She even brought a new husband into the Homestead Farm to see if the old one would come out to argue....but nothing.  She has been unable to get any of the other marriages to have multiple children, and she can't complete the child rescue quest either

 

So basically what i am seeing, according to all of you is that Lionhead hasn't done anything to fix this? And that are options are to either restart a new game totally, or just shelf it till Lionhead decides to fix this?(maybe IF they decide to fix this)

 

Any input would be helpful, thanks

Yep, same problem. Missing wife, unresponsive child. I also gave my wife a second ring thinking it would be a nice gift and I got the "find a marital home" message. I would really like to see a response to this from Lionhead soon, they should have made a press release the moment they heard of the problem.

I married the tattoo artist from the Gypsy Camp and moved him to the Homestead behind the Demon Door.  One child.  Gave him a better ring once I could afford it, so the same 2nd ring problem PP have experienced. 

After the Tattered Spire, the child was a zombie, completely unreponsive, and hubby was gone.  It still shows him being at the cottage, and that he's fine.  I went to Bloodstone and finished a few quests, and now the child is responsive, but husband still nowhere to be seen.  I have another family in Bowerstone, and no problems there. 

Would be super cool if Lionhead could get this fixed.

Well, I had this problem too; I went to the Spire and when I came back my wife was gone and child was standing where the crib was without doing anything. I read on these forums that some had found their spouse in Bloodstone, randomly, and so progressed in the storyline to that point. After I got there, I went back to our home in Bowerstone and found my wife happy to see me, as if I had never been gone. My child ran out and greeted me. Unfortunately, shortly after, I went to the crucible and spent some time there trying to get the perfect score. When I returned to Bowerstone, my wife divorced me (for no apparent other reason than I was gone for a few days [Go figure, she'll wait 9 years but not a few days?]), taking both my kids with her.

Yes you can have two kids, but the one in the crib has to grow up before you can have another one. I don't know if you can have more, I didn't get that far before she left *tear*.

Annoyingly enough I am stuck in Bloodstone with the wraith, before I talk to the Theif. The Wraith does not take any damage (a known game-breaking glitch, I'm afraid).

I had similar problems after I gave my wife a second ring. I tried to move her into a better house and I couldn't. I could only get her to move into my original gypsy home. While I was away bandits attacked and killer her. I defeated the bandits, but my wife was dead. My child was taken away too. No way to get him back.

I got married again and this time have not given a second ring. Now my child is 9 years old and everything is going okay... accept I can't sell or rent any of my previous marital homes.

I also can't find the gypsy to set my augment stones or whatever into my weapons. Could he have been killed too??? I own all the properties in the gypsy camp... Maybe that also causes another glitch???

Same problem here, gave my wife a second ring then left for the Spire.  At first my kid was unresponsive, though she recently started acting normally (now the little punk won't leave me alone).  I'm considering getting her to follow me into Rookridge and let the bandits have their way with her.  It's tough being a "" hero with slightly desires.

Anyway, best advice would probably be to try remarrying and see how that goes.  Of course I haven't finished the game yet so I can't say for sure if it will work.

-Either way, Laura (my kid) has got to go, wanted a boy anyway.

I am so disgusted! I married AFTER the main quest was over and after rescuing my son from the hobbe cave my husband came got him, he says I LOVE YOU SO MUCH... then goes home and is then invisible. My son keeps saying dad is so happy, taking me fishing etc... I did also give him a better more expensive ring as a gift prior to this. maybe two rings sets this thing off!

I have the same issue. I married Lady Grey, after the first Spire mission everything was fine but when I came back after killing Lucien she vanished. The game says she is happy, wants sex, and is at Serenity Farm but whenever I travel there (teleport or walk) the golden trail goes away and she's nowhere to be found. The quest bar thing at the top says "Return to your family" for the Retribution quest but I can't. It sucks.

I have the exact same problem...
Left my husband at Serenity Farm, then after the Spire quest he completely disappeared, my son was frozen in the corner for a while but after a couple of quests he started acting normally again. There's nothing wrong with our marriage status either although I haven't seen him for a long long time.
I don't think I gave him an extra ring, although I do know that I gave my other husband a new ring and nothing out of the ordinary happened there.
I think the problem has to be with Serenity Farm (the demon door property). It might have something to do with the fact that the game doesn't register that it belongs to you (there's no deed symbol above the property sign)?
I don't know, does everyone else with this problem have their spouse living at Serenity farm?

Will Lionhead be releasing fix/updates this missing spouse glitch? Or Lionhead is saying we're basically S.O.L?

Exact same prolem, Married Alex, went to the spire, returned to find an unresponsive kid and wife is nowhere to be found. Looks like this happens to many of us, so hope they fix it before I have to put the game up and write a bad review.

Hello I am a new member , The missing spouse to me seems to have no solid cause, however the second ring is clearly a bad idea. I have played ALOT of different charecters 7 in fact and tried all types of things. Bowerstone seems to be a problem area and the problem seems most likely to arrive if you have a kid BEFORE you go away to the spire. out of the 7 charecters I have played 1 wife remained to the castle fairfax and was quickly assassi9nated by the bandits there... lol  Had 4 kids with her to and it was Alex from the ghost quest. Anyway I find it VERY hard to beleive that the testers didn't know about this problem BEFORE the release of the gam and feel insulted by their unresponsivness to it like buying a dog online and when you get it it has 3 legs and one eye and the place you get it from says "it was fine when it left?!?" common Lionhead I'm a BIG fan but this is inexcusable please get back to me my gamertag is DubD.

I think that's just the continuation of the story. Not a glitch.

Even the manual says that if you don't keep your family happy and come back to see them frequently, that they will leave you.

I have the missing spouse problem also. Did the ghost/alex quest, got married, kept her in the Gypsy camp for a while, then found the demon door at Oakfield, thought proposing in front of it would be an easy way to open it up, moved her in and ended up with a kid.

Did the spire quest, came back, no Alex anywhere. Marital Status still listed as "happy, wants sex" but she's no where to be found.  The kid stands there, unresponsive.

Yes, it's a glitch. I still had the hero's wife prior doing The Weapon Quest and having "happy" status on the family. Then I chose "Love" from the 3 choices in the Retribution Quest which resurrected all your loved ones who died building the Spire. In order to complete the Retribution Quest, my hero has to go see his wife. The yellow pointer will direct to the marriage home but the hero's wife is not there.

i have the same missing spouse glitch, but i got it from completing "the rescue" quest.
