you are just walking down the street and every body dons a white hood and starts jerking back and forth as they switch between attack and stealth mode

They've got a rather nice augmented reality thing going on on their official website. Go check it out, you'll need a webcam though.

I was so excited when i got an e-mail from Ubisoft about Assassin's Creed 2. Do you think any famous figures from that era will be there?

If you remember, this was the era that the Knights Templar where "Destroyed"... I just know they will fit into the story.

About 170 years too late for the templars, mate. they were wiped out about 1310, DaVinci's Vitruvian Man - that pic on the website - was done about 1480. So hopefully they can sidestep that ghastly cliche and do something a bit more originalWink [;)]

That's great that there will be a sequel the game had great potential, I'm sure that the sequel will be G o o d [Good], although people have said that before, and they've gone disappointed...

Man I look forward to this and I hope it comes out  soon, I often wonder why they didn't cover the second crusade. and the run in Salidin had with the hasishin haššāšīn. that would have made for a killer overall storyline. maybe they will get around to it. really an interesting part of the crusades history.

Because you can't do augmented reality without a camera. That's the whole point of it. (note that this is something cool on their website, not something in the game)

    Re: assassins creed no.2

The game NEEDS a stealth system that goes beyond the stupid "crowd merge" thing they had in the first one. I want sneaking up on people to be more complex then just holding down the A button. If you have the skill, you should be able to pull off an assassination without anyone knowing (at least for a little while).

The game should also vary up the assassination locations a bit more. I want to see environments that promote creativity and skill (speaking of which, the combat system needs WAY more depth). They should definitely include some indoor locations.

The overall difficulty should be raised as well. The cut scenes and dialogue should be skipable, at least on the second play through.

Looking forward to this game. I liked the first one despite its many shortcomings.

I hope they don't waste time on upgrading the graphics and creating a large number of new environments.  The biggest flaws with Assassins Creed was the AI, bugs (mostly on the PS3 version), overall lack of content and bland story.  If they fix those problems it will probably be a great game.

there are a few things they need to do:
    • Take out the countryside and make 1 big city full of diverse and interesting buildings
    • add in a stealth element to make it more assassin-y
    • combine the acrobatics and combat to make it more compelling and interesting
    • bring in an RPG aspect, levelling up your fighting, sneaking and free running
    • make a new AI
    • make the world much more reactive, things should swing when you jump on them, break when you hit them etc.
    • each quest should be different to its predecessor
    • keep the viewpoint challenges but make them Very hard to get
    • have the repetitive side quests (free villager, pickpocket etc.) on top of a diverse and deep main questline

Thanks for clearing that up, I didnt know what augumented reality wasEmbarrassed [:$]

Anyway I hope I can use the environment in assasinations, I was above someone one scaffolding, why cant I slice it to crush them, every assassination was the same.

However the free running was great my only problems was, how soldiers clad in armour could pull it off.

I agree, the story is what is important. they go at it with that in mind and improve on what they already do. it will be an amazing game. I enjoyed the last game for a number of reasons. developers tend to get better each new release. for the initial release Assassins creed was a great game.  reconstructing the cities from the crusades gave it a historic and epic feel. at least it did to me.

I loved AC1, found it a waste of time to play when not doing the story though as you'd get bored so quickly. I read in xbox360 world that second is set in venice, but xbl  idiots superkaylo and mrpointhead said it was in france, I'll have to check that site out really looking forward to the sequel. Re: assassins creed no.2

i have beem looking at feature on this by ign about some other mag and it seems like the new game is getting a bit gimmicky with a glider something i find kinda moving away from the theam and the fact that the main charecter no longer looks at all inconspicuese he has a cape and the assassins symbol splashed across his belt also they are saying that you will no longer have a sword unless you steal one of a guerd (id like an elaborate assassination where you use his sword by taking it out his sheath and sliting his throet )
witch shouldent phase me as i never used anything other than the wrist blade for fights but why dont you seems kinda pointless to me however i do like them making fights harder spesificly with guerds that can do all the moves you can Smily [:)]
