    Fable 3 improvements list

Before I start know i am not ?critisising? Fable.
I love fable 2 and the 2 downloads with it - it is by far one of my favourite games on xbox 360. However there are some things i feel that could be improved and i know lionhead takes forum posts into account so here goes:
The save system was by far better in fable 1 as you were able to have multiple saves for one character.
The storyline, although excellently planned out, was too short.
Also i felt that fable 2 could be a bit more open, now i know the amount of time it takes to make a game like fable so i appreciate that bit fallout 3 was alot more open and so was oblivion.
Apart from that i still feel fable is an awsome gameSmily [:)]

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

Seeing as Fable II was already a blast, more of the same =P By which I mean a longer story and more side quests, as far as that is possible.

Besides that, improvements on II to be implemented in III could include (I put *'s next to the ones I find more important/cooler Stick out tongue [:P]):

    - More attractive character models, so that we can have attractive spouses Lick [:lick:] Especially true for girls playing the game, I've heard plenty of complaints about the lack of men
    - More character models in general, they add so much personality to the game and are a tonne of fun Smily [:)]

-* Less little glitches! There are lots of little mishaps in Fable II, they come up every time I play the game. NPC names hanging in the corner of my screen despite me being miles away, bars with NPC names not going away when no longer focussing on them (LT). And right now my daughter is glitched! =( She just doesn't move at all, it's quite sad. Disappointed [:isappoin]

    - More clothing, weapons (longbows would be cool?), and the possibility of armour? Accessories such as necklaces or bracelets

    - * A character designer, where you could choose the facial features of your hero and possibly other aspects (build etc., although the skill/physique etc. mechanic is already great)
    - The possibility to use your own hero over XBL

    - Don't make this an MMORPG please Tongue Tied [:S]

Hope some of these things could get into III Big Smile [:D] Love the game Stick out tongue [:P] Post some G o o d [Good] ideas guys

Man, I totally agree. Little glitches are a pain, i constantley have something about furniture at the top of the screen just cuz i looked at a table and my spouse went through a demon door and became a man so i had to kill her (or him, but my guy aint gay, no offense ). Overall these are brill suggestions and i would like to see them in fable 3. And if , my source is correct these might pop up in the expected fable's 4 and 5.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

I think I did a thread like this a while ago with my own thoughts; so I don't want to repeat them all, it was a long post.

    I'll throw in here:
    1. Make the experience orbs either gone or optionally gone.  They are ugly and distracting to fights (esp when things get busy like in the coliseum.) And don't do anything to the game...either you got experience for what you did or you didn't, you shouldn't have to "suck up" the experience.  (Same with the slo mo effect, you should be able to turn it off, it often comes on at times when you are in the middle of a fight and throws off things)

    2. Fire whoever designs the outfits.  There is not one single outfit without something that could have been done differently to make it ten times better.  Most are far worse than that.  But it's the outfits that are almost awesome that tend to be the most disappointing when they come up short.  (And if they are going to be dyable, then make them all dyable, not all except certain parts.)

    3.  Different spawn spots for random bad guy encounters.  Real boring knowing the same five hobbes will jump out here, or same four bandits drop down there.

    4. Longer game, more side quests.  Less control over the direction of the story by mysterious NPCs.

    5. More weapons and variety in them.

and more stuff I don't feel like digging into right now.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

I have to agree with you on deleting the experience orbs, i found them quite annoying at times. The one other thing that i did not care for was the bread crumb trail, I am more into on screen maps i.e grand theft auto series. I think this would be an excellent addition

yea, but I didn't care about it b/c you could turn it off at least; wish you could do that with the orbs (and  the will lines)

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

also as cool a villian as lucian was it would have been better to have some more epic boss battles as i used to love the dragon in TLC and i was a little dissapointed in the 1 shot kill thing...
Still an awsome game though even though i cant play cause STF corrupt my file lol

I actually like the breadcrumb trail.. it was great for exploration (in any direction but where it points), and kept me from getting lost.

The experience orbs definitely need to go though; in a big battle they cause lots of slowdown, they sometimes get stuck in the geometry of the map etc. Maybe if they just had them still fly out of enemies as you struck them, but then the colored bubbles "popped" and were then added to your experience.  You could still check total experience with the right trigger (assuming the same controller setup is maintained).

For the will lines, what would be nice is if in F3 they only appeared when you used will and then gradually faded in real time over the course of a minute or so. I know this isn't possible with the Fable 2 engine, but maybe LH can figure out how to code this in Fable 3.  Would be cool if will line colors changed with alignment as well (red for E v i l [Evil], blue for G o o d [Good], shades of purple in between.)

One potion makes you larger and one potion makes you small and the one Lionhead didn't give you doesn't do anything at all...

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

There is one thing they HAVE to change, but since nobody mentioned it Iwill: the dialogues. They suck horribly. I'm not demanding something at the level of Oblivion, but atleast something like in Legend of Zelda series would be a nice start.

Its time to slay the princess and save the dragon!!!! Oh wait.....

also the multiplayer could be alittle better BUT DONT go over with the multiplayer stick with it just being co-op campaign but give the players more to do together like combat moves, their own camera and maybe a 4 player co-op

    still love the game

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

Hmm... Here's some of my ideas:

-More choice driven results. Not many of the so-called "choices" really affected the world, other then the warrant thing. If I choose to save someone from say bandits, then I meet them later on to find out they're actually royalty or something and they reward me. Stuff like that. Or say if you're E v i l [Evil] enough bandits actually run away from you or may even fight for you or something.

-Wider weapon variety. Rusty Iron Steel and Master? need i say more? And beef up legendaries! They're hard to find for a reason!

-Wider clothing variety, maybe implement some kindof armored/padded clothing?

-Better chracter models. Lets face it: NPC's are fugly in Fable II.

-More interactive "follow" command. I felt this is one of the useless expressions since you can ONLY get civilians to follow you. Guards should if you get enough renown and the mercenaries in the first Fable were a goo idea too.

-and I have an idea for a more "epic" boss fight with Lucian. If anyone's intrested, I'll post it in another thread.

I got more, but there's my 2 cents for now.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

    erm, improvements?

well, as most of u have said, wider wepon veriety; but i was thinking i dont know maybe a special store where u customise ur wepons and make em look different. and like some have said more damage for the leg and master wepons.

a bigger clothing line, like proper armour, THAT YOU CAN DYE! i'm sick of wearing the spire guard stuff in green (yes it is a failed attempt of recreating master chief)

bigger sandbox enviroment, just over 10 is enought but i want the regons to be bigger, have u seen the size of bowestone market??? TINY!

Better boss battles, i want a boss crossed between the comendate and the dead guy in the skull (spoiler sorry) i want em tough, quick, huge life gage and able to take u down with devastating effects (tht goes for everytime ur KOed)

i want a longer storyline, with more MUST DO quests and less CAN DO quests. i want slave resque to have more renown, no a pettifull 2250. if u risked ur life to save someone and u only hit the papers for one week ud want freaking celeb status not to be ridiculed by slobs who get payed to sit down!

I want bigger and better DLC, we might see it in the current fable but i want it to go on to fable 3. I want more veriaty of citizens, not people who look and sound egsactly the same, as proovcen in bowerstone market! i want bigger fights with enemies, even with a rusty longsword i still kick ass. i want my enemies to be freaking killing machines WITHOUT peeshooters and sticks. i want them to have the best wepons you can buy before you have them or able to afford them.

i want to be intreeged more with the mysteries, a bit like the archeologist quest, and less of the breadcrum trail. i want a better choice at the end of the game, if i have a dog and its killed, it shud be ressurected no matter what choice u make, maybe after uv made the mian choice. maybe better potions too.

thts all i can think of now but if i think of more al post it in

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

I could go on and on about stuff, but what I really want, is an actual co-op experience, not what we have right now. A player should have to remain within a certain distance or at least be on the same map as the host, but be able to view the game on their not a shared screen, and certainly use their character, not a henchman.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

    1. like I said in another post, lose fat with excersise instead of liposuction potions

    2. needs more variaty in npc voice and appearance (im fed up with hearing the EXACT same guard voice everywhere)

    3. proper armor instead of clothes, perhaps different aromor/clothes increase certain abilities (eg: assasin set: +15% speed, -5% physice)

    4. improve opinion system, particuley the negative side (I think a massacre in oakfeild is going to create FAR more fear than hate)

    5. make fans less annoying/if your already married, those in love with you should stop yapping about me getting them a ring (especially in front of my spouseWTF [:wtf:]), or at least make your house more private, I keep getting inlovers following me inside my house right into my bedroom (example)

    6. allow looting of corpses, thats how most rpg's do it and no getting underserved gifts via killing does NOT count

    7. PROPER boss fights, screen filling, hard as nails, boss fights with HP gauges and the whole lot (trolls don't count, with legendary weapons they're just a fly)

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

More Creativity Example: Change your skin colour
More choices that change the world
No annoying villagers as said earlier
    Better co-op, split-screen or something
    Just a few ideas

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

Nobody has brought these up yet in this thread, so I will:

    1) Ability to close (and lock!)the door of any owned house you're hero is currently in.

    2) Ability to repair damage to any owned properties (doors, windows, etc) i.e. contract with a carpenter.  Someone built the houses, inns, shops, etc.. they should be able to replace a few windows and doors for a price..

    3) Once you've given a potential spouse a ring, giving a ring to that person again should not be an option (at least if it screws things up like it does in Fable 2). All rings should simply not show up in the menu when trying to give a gift to that NPC.  It's a simple persistent variable flag.. shouldn't be too hard to implement.

One potion makes you larger and one potion makes you small and the one Lionhead didn't give you doesn't do anything at all...

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

Yes, co-op not being stuck on a camera angle that can see both would be better, and especially if you could use your real hero. I also think that when your fans crowd around you, they should move out of your way when you want to move past them so you don't get stuck in corners or inside buildings. More weapons and clothing would be nice too, but I'm sure that's already what LionHead plans to do. Larger areas would be nice, but most are an okay size anyways. I like the experience orbs, they bring strategy into your fighting style, forcing you to fight quickly or wait for the right moment to pull the right trigger. I would also like Fable III to keep the knockout system instead of death where you would have to start at a checkpoint, this is a great feature already. The control scheme works great the way it is, but depending on how Fable III is made, it may be neat to be able to jump at the press of a button. This would allow for quick jumping puzzles, or interesting forms of exploration (jumping from building top to building top anyone?). Maybe more variety in terms of music, but make sure to keep it as awesome as it is now. Fable II is a great game, I can't wait to see what they do with Fable III!

Fable II isn't my choice, it is my DESTINY, just as it is yours.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

yeah i agree with alot of the stuff

new death system please. for some reason thats the only thing i actually hated about fable. the fact that i couldnt lose pissed me off lol. they should make it where when you "die" you fall, lose exp, maybe a scar, then get transported to the nearest town or outside the tomb or dungeon your in

more clothes, more weap etc. etc.

but yeah the one important thing to me is new death system make it so i can actually die!!! lol

great game though and thanks for making it =D

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

my biggest concern with a Fable 3 would be the time it takes place in. I'd hate to see a fantastic magical realm like Albion suddenly go all 19th and 20th century on us. Cars, More modern buildings, or any other more technical features would just ruin the game (in my opinion)

After the ending of See the Future DLC, i'd like to see the child ( being you, the main character )  be warned by Theressa by the unavoidable events she mentioned in the spire, and she sends you back to perhaps the time of the original Fable on a quest to stop that future event from occuring. In a way it would be similar to Assassin's Creed with the Animus (or whatever it's called,) where you go back and relive the life of a member of the Heroic bloodline.

however, I'll leave all that up to Lionhead. I trust them on making an amazing addition to the already phenomenal franchise. the must-have additions, overall, will be more monsters, more choices, less loading screens, more explorability, and finally, a much longer storyline

EDIT: I just thought of two other G o o d [Good] ideas.

    1. instead of the co-op screen, as everyone's said, each person gets their own screen, as everyone also said. I don't even know how to explain this next part, so I'll give a scenario:

I am King. I want my friend, Salad Dodger, to come join me in my world.

Salad Dodger joins, and we both get our own screens, as if we were playing in single player mode. However, I now have a PiP (picture in picture) view of what Salad Dodger is doing in my world in the bottom corner of my screen. If I need his assistance, I can summon him to my side with his approval of a button. If I look at the view and see that Salad Dodger is breaking into my house and about to kill my wife, I should then be able to instantly press a button, with another confirmation button, to boot him out of my world. If I would like, I could also close the PiP of Salad Dodger's screen.

I hope that made sense? but ok. time for numero dos.

    2. as the storyline progresses, main quests and side quests alike need to get more and more dramatic, until they're eventually so drastic that one choice changes all of Albion, and the entire ending you experience. There shouldn't be just one storyline with a fork at the end, but instead a 100% unique storyline that completely changes the outcome if you decided to buy the hot dog rather than the burger. I want to be nearly garanteed that no two experiences will be the same. I understand this is ridiculously hard to implement, but if It could be, even on a lesser scale, it would be very ground-breaking for the gaming industry.

a long example: at the beginning of the game, there might be a side quest where you choose whether to make a sword as a blacksmith and sell it, or make it and give it away. if you sell it, the purchaser will put it on his wall as an addition to his sword collection. but if you gave it away...

you're around the middle of the game, and you have the man you gave that sword to years ago begging for his life at your feet. he's lately been killing chickens and stealing sheep off local farms, and it would do everyone a favor if you just killed him. however, maybe if you just send him off to a prison, he can change his ways and become a favorable alley.

Which choice do you do? maybe if you kill him, people will discover it wasn't really him and convict you a murderer, therefore destroying your reputation in that town forever. but then again, maybe people will reward you with riches, and the farmland around you will expand and flourish.

but, if you send him off to prison, he won't be dead, and he will be where he belongs. the town and farms will be relieved, knowing one more thug is off the streets. the town will fix up to be a respectable and booming community. but then again, maybe he turns out to be a criminal mastermind, and breaks out of prison, slaughtering the civilians and burning down towns and farms into an abandoned wilderness, home to thousands of balverines and other fearsome creatures. hence making this perilous area a hardship to travel through for any new quests to come

    -----end of example-----

see, I want several quests like this, that will give unfortold outcomes. if you make a decision on a certain quest twice in a row on different files, maybe it won't turn out the same as it had before. I want the effects to be huge. gigantic. game-altering. so maybe you can't just go through the game planning to be a G o o d [Good] person. if you put him in jail, maybe it's more E v i l [Evil] than you thought it would be...

so. congratulations if you actually read this whole comment. I hope I didn't waste your time Stick out tongue [:P]

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

    Fix co-op.

Add a better variety of spells.  Add more animations and moves for the melee combat.  I like the melee combat but add just a bit more depth.

    *Most importantly.  FIX CO-OP!

Bring back guile or stealth.  Expand the art of stealing.

Fix the money system so I don't end up with 50 gabillion gold for essentially doing nothing.  I'm not even G o o d [Good] at managing money in rpg games and I can easily earn money in Fable 2.  Make that aspect harder.

*Finally,  I like what Lionhead did in making the game for a more casual audience but can the third one be a little tougher.  I'm not asking for Ninja Gaiden tough but a happy middle ground should be able to be met.

*It's too easy to be G o o d [Good].  Make things less black and white and more of a series of 'shades of grey'.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

    I got a few ideas

    1. Like Everyone else said PROPER CLOTHES, i want armour and what about shields? Stuff like that.

    2. The ability to actually customize you house. Like wallpaper, carpet, not just the furniture.

    3. Bigger map with more exploration, there weren't really any big areas you could just explore, just a few paths.

    4. Better rewards in quests. Not just renown and a trophy, i want real rewards like weapons, or armour, not like the diamonds and rubies you get in those quests.

    5. Wider variety of weapons. Maybe add stuff like better types, not just guns, put bows back in!

    6. When i play co-op i dont want to have to use a "pre-set" character, i should et to use mine and so should my friend.

    7. I want the ending to actually change albion, or any of the quests. There are few that did that. Say if i give my money to a beggar in childhood, instead of buying food for the children, perhaps that beggar will become very rich and give you a large sum of money when you grow up, on the downside though the orphanage where you were meant to give the food to shut down after they could no longer afford the upkeep.

    8. How about a decent boss at the end, Lucien was WEAK, i want something like jack of blades again maybe better.

    9. Fable 2 did bring in jobs, but what about stuff like going out to see and being a pirate, or protecting a trade ship from pirates eh?

Well i hope i didnt drag it on there, and i hope lionhead reads everyones ideas and thinks about them.Up []

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

two guns. I don't care what changes when I use them. I want to fire two guns.

I want the clothing and hairstyles from the pre-set characters, they look cool.

The world is yours to explore, but just how much world is there? We need more to keep up interest.

I also want the option of fighting with my fists, fist techiques, things like that. the first fable didn't make fists into something that strong. In reality, fists are dargmn powerful with the right mind and body.

I want to decide my eye color and hair color at the beginning of a game, and skin color as well. I also want to decide where I grow up. Maybe that could really direct the story.

Fighting fire with fire burns the whole world.

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

one thing that has always bothered me about Fable 2 is that its supposed to be all about choices but your really very limited in what you can do.....like for example why cant you join the bad guys? (Massacering people doesnt count) i want to join up with the highwaymen and go looting. or why cant you join Lucien? I'd have liked to play out the game working against the heroes! I want the choice to be a REAL villain!

    Re: Fable 3 improvements list

    I´d like:

    - a stealth kill like Assassin's Creed has.
    - Horses! Why walk when you can ride? They already exist, or do the carriages get pulled by peasants?
    - Some more spells... Like 'Mist', where I can pull up a smokescreen and kill every enemy lost in the fog Dead [:notalive:] or 'Invisibility' where I am invisible for, let's say, the same amount of time the 'Slow time' spell takes to wear off.
    - Also, looting corpses like someone mentioned above, and pickpocketing!
    - When I'm inside someones house, and I use Inferno level 5... I want the house to burn to the ground! And then maybe get rebuild in small steps over like 30 gamedays.
    - Choices need to be BIGGER!!! I played though 2 times, 1 G o o d [Good], 1 E v i l [Evil]. There are only 2 minor changes between these worlds. Not G o o d [Good] enough.
    - Cover! Why can't I duck behind a tree and pick off badguys with my 'Rammer'? Make it so you can only get hit while shooting (Like Gears of War). Of course, the badguys can also duck for cover.
    - Some minor flaws, like: Why the HECK, when I enter Terry Cotters house, and he's been dead so long he's turned into a skeleton, is there a fire in his fireplace? Same for all dungeons, caves, etc. Nobody's been in them for ages, but there are torches on the wall happily burning. Let ME bring my own torch and light the ones on the wall, then they burn for 10 minutes and die out again untill I light them again. Just saying...
    - DON'T LET THESE ANNOYING VILLAGERS BLOCK ME!!! Make it so the hero can walk 'through' them without getting stuck!!!
    - Better A.I... Every freaking time a Balverine jumps up, I charge my Daichi and hit behind me as he lands, and I NEVER miss! Why not let them land in a random spot? Like 25% behind, 25 in front, 25 left, 25 right? That would already be a big improvement? Same with all enemies, they all do the same movements over and over and over and over and over...
    - More stats: I agree, bring back Guile, Stealth, and add Constitution, Luck, Wisdom, you know, all that stuff.
    - Different NPC's with DIFFERENT VOICES!!!! Hell, have a contest! Put out a file with a whole lot of lines you want non-important NPC's to say, let us record our voices saying them, and then pick 10 different voices for EACH line, so that, if there were 100 lines, you'd have 1000 different voices saying them. So much more realistic, AND a great way for us to particepate in Fable III. How cool would it be hearing our own voices in the game???
    - More augments Smily [:)] And more slots, NOT just when you buy the DLC Tongue Tied [:S] I'd really like the 'Rocketeer' augment: When applied to a ranged weapon it sends just a little bit of Shock&Inferno magic with each bullet or arrow, making it explode on impact.

Well, that's about it... For now Stick out tongue [:P]

    Thanks for reading!
    All hail the overlord!
