As hard of a time as you gents give America

    The UK is pretty retarded.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1223528/Parents-banned-supervising-children-playgrounds--case-paedophiles.html

Seems like I'm seeing more of these type of news stories out of Merry Old England all the time. Pretty soon you'll only be allowed access to safety scissors and diet soda.

Oh, that's just organised run-of-the-mill local government retardation. If you ever come over here, you'll soon see that individual freeform idiocy reaches heights and budgets the councils can only dream ofSmily [:)]

Re: As hard of a time as you gents give America

I would warn that the story you read in the Daily Mail is not necessarily the actual story. It's like the Fox News of British print "journalism".

It seems what's happened here is a couple of cases of simple overenthusiasm regarding the (quite justified) rules that govern who can and can't work with children. Schools have a legal duty of care to the children while those children are on the premises, and so it's the school's responsibility to make sure there are no adults who might harm the children around. It seems that these particular adults were well-known, in which case perhaps refusing them was going a bit far, but on the other hand how "well-known" someone is is pretty subjective.

Well if you keep reading the Daily Mail then you will keep reading pretty retarded news stories. The Daily Mail are off there nut... they write overly enthusiastic stories that are stretched and skewered in order to sell more news papers to the idiotic masses that read them.

Every newspaper, news broadcast, and news channel has a political slant on it. Every single one.

And I certainly can't deny it. The Great British Empire surely is rather simple minded when it comes to laws. Especially considering you're not allowed to physically harm somebody that's broken into your home.

That's called stating the obvious. The trick is in finding those who are excessively so. The Daily Mail is obviously one of them. But this isn't just about political slant, it's about exaggeration and subtle misinformation to make a story that sells.

Strange that the purpose of this thread though seems to be 'I'm sick of this anti-American crap, har har, look there's things wrong with your country too' as if we didn't already know that. Whilst Watford is not the same thing as the UK, yes this is very daft and retarded.

Re: As hard of a time as you gents give America

I think it is because a chunk of our countries population has a flagrant disregard for any form of authority - the Chav - therefore the local councils rather than actually figuring out how to deal with the chav epidemic instead go out of their way to make sure they look to be being active and "dealing with things" by targeting the more mild mannered and obliging middle classes, ergo they will enforce moronic rules that do absolutely nothing but make them feel better about themselves.

But the best thing about England is the fact that we have policemen with speed guns who stand right next to the "no limit" speed sign after a 30mph stretch and pull people over for going more than 30mph ... targets, the country is run by f****ng targets! geesz

Re: As hard of a time as you gents give America

I don't know, BBC News seems to be pretty unbiased. You can physically harm some one who breaks into your house as part of the defending your castle rule of self defence, you can however only apply necessary and justifiable force. If you kill the burglar you must be able to justify that you had no other option then to kill.

"A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large.".

Re: As hard of a time as you gents give America

I read stories like these about the UK every week. General gist is mostly: some kid hurts himself while at school? Massive fines for the school and/or teachers. A teenager is anyhow confronted with sexuality of any kind, including harmless behaviour with other teenagers? Moral outrage.

Lets face it, some people just get so worried and scared about certain things that they try to prevent them by punishing everyone and going well over the top.

Re: As hard of a time as you gents give America

I, for one, welcome these new regulations. The harrowing crimes of recent years have all too clearly demonstrated that all British adults are twisted and remorseless paeodophiles whose uncontrollable and disgusting urges will surface when they are in the slightest proximity to children.

It is more than apparent that in the Defence of the Realm one must strive to brutually eliminate every post-pubescent ( i.e. criminal sexual deviant) who lurks within our nation's borders.

    God save the King.

Oh, and as for the diet soda quip in the OP, I'd like to point out that it's America where our lovely British Irn Bru is illegal due (I believe) to one of the colourings used in its production.

    And Irn Bru is delicious.

Also, I've tasted American soft drinks (the ones made in the US) and found them slightly odd in flavour. I'll put that down to them using high-fructose corn syrup rather than sucrose.

I just assumed Irn Bru was coloured using Scottish hair clippings. I can see why they wouldn't want that in their drink, no matter how much deep-fried shampoo has been used to mask the porridge.

Yes but it tastes great and it's not for Americans... some foods and drinks just need to be restricted... like the Yorkie bar... it's only for men.

Actually the Yorkie bar is simply not for girls. Women, ladies, hermaphrodites and transgender folk are theoretically in the clear.
