Lol - the co-op news is 5 years old :D

Just been reading up on old interviews, as I was trying to find out what was actually missing from Fable 1... anyway, came across this:

Q: Will there be Xbox Live support in Fable during its lifetime?

PM: I’d have loved to put Xbox Live stuff in there but it just came through too late. The answer to that is, rather than force it into Fable 1, I’d rather put it in Fable 2.

However, instead of Xbox Live in Fable, what we are supporting is the ability to save your character to memory card and take it into a friend’s world. Fable will support four-player simultaneous multiplayer.

I guess we could stop guessing what is in the game and just look at what was cut from F1 Wink [;)]

    Nice find indeed.  Up []

Although, I don't think that guarantees there will be online play, but certainly makes it seem more likely.  Smily [:)]

While Fable ideas that were cut from the original game have been inspirations for Fable 2 do keep in mind this is defnitely nothing conclusive or representative of Fable 2.

Re: Lol - the co-op news is 5 years old :D

I remember my friend telling me about Fable and all the hype. A couple monthes before the game came out I decided to check out the games website and found a recent announcement that co-op was cancelled. I didn't mind much though. I heard the original Fable was put off/cancelled many times due to budget problems while working on multiple games. I'm happy I didn't fall for the hype, and I won't do it for Fable 2 either. Not after the disappointing Halo 2.

Re: Lol - the co-op news is 5 years old :D

    LoL @ this entire thread...

This is the reason why alot of us were unhappy with the "information released" at GDC this year...For alot of us, who were here during the Project Ego/Fable days, we heard all about those multiplayer ideas AND some...

This is why I wasn't impressed with the GDC presentation...That info had been discussed previously, only thing is, it's just now being confirmed...

And for the people who weren't around 5 years ago when that was released, check out the E3 Demo from 2003, Peter confirms multiplayer to be in the game, yet, Fable 1 didn't have it...

So a year before release, that feature was implemented, then got cut...Is this feature getting cut like the last time as well?? Is this the reason they're not talking about online because it might get the boot??

Seriously, I hope to goD that the E3 announcement is not online Multiplayer, because that would absolutely suck...It'd be like a giant presentation that's basically revealed 4 months ahead...

    The Timid Dog

I 've been thinking about this for a while but in the co-op demo how come the dog never attacked anyone, does it not fight because of the co-op buddy. It did its other jobs like growling to show you the enemy but didn't fight.

Do you think it won't attack the enemies when your in co-op or something the devs did to the dog so it wouldn't get in the way of the co-op demo

Well if online is the fourth big feature then i and many others fans wont be happy because its just not that cool or dynamic.Disappointed [:isappoin]

But if they announce it as a small feature and then have a big show about the real fourth feature i would be pleased.Big Smile [:D]

    Re: The Timid Dog

I dont think the dog fights at all unless you tell it too, thats what it looks like from the demos and that one when the hero shot the guys (from a distance) and the dog ran up and attacked them.

I personally dont want the dog to fight with me on single player/co-op because it does'nt feel right or realistic, it should just get you to missions and tell you when bad guys are near.Wink [;)]

The dog attacks when the player attacks.

Some of the dog AI was probably just disabled. They didn't want it to interfere with what was happening with the humans. PM mentioned this issue during the E3'07 demos. The dog seems to take the limelight if they allow it do its thing, which is probably even true.

How exactly do you know it was implemented? Stick out tongue [:P] IMO, I don't think the MP for F1 never really got to the end, and I think the reason being they never did figure out a G o o d [Good] way to do it... when you take the HW constraints into account. They tried the orb approach, but... Cheeky [:cheeky:]

But as for F2 online and it being cut, yeah, I think you're right. They're keeping their mouth shut about that because it's not exactly bullet-proof yet... and this is one of the reasons why I believe it works differently from couch co-op.

    Re: The Timid Dog

which is probably for the best.

if you were killing severely overpowered enemies with a friends new guy, the dog would interfere with getting the new guy some combat, while the old hat absorbs blows.

it may not work that way (excuse me for living offline the last few weeks, i swear it won't happen again...), but it would help.

besides, if your sneaking and the dog goes off killing, it may infuriate you....

    Re: The Timid Dog

I'm quite sure that the dog won't go off killing when you're trying to sneak. PM already said that the dog's number one rule will be avoiding aggravating the player.

As for the question about the dog itself, I think that it probably won't attack when you've in co-op mode unless it must, to protect it's owner of course. Stick out tongue [:P] Maybe it'd attack the enemies attacking you, only. I don't know.

    Re: The Timid Dog

well, the first, it goes without saying...

as for the second, it most likely won't attack, at all. thats the advantage of 2 players with heroes. more heroes.unless the dog has rabies, it can't quite compete with that extra sword by your side...

What is the Cap on Co-op?

During co-operative play, another player can become a henchman in another persons world. But can only one player join another person's world, or can 2 or even 3.

If anybody knows please let me know Smily [:)]

    Re: The Timid Dog

I think the dog left, because of PM was going to show the combat with a coop friend. Then you don't want a dog to take out the enemies, when you're trying to show how the combat is.

Because time is very limited during a session like a keynote speech at GDC, for the purpose of the demo, certain actions of the dog for example were disabled. So it was indeed something the devs did to the dog so it wouldn't get in the way of the offline co-op demo.

I think PM mentioned somewhere as well that what should have happened when his husband was shot was for the child to run over and cry over his dad's corpse but they removed it for the GDC as it was too upsetting.

Upsetting? When Peter's henchman killed his character's husband everybody giggled and laughed, (I have to admit that I giggled a bit too). They probably disabled that feature only for time's sake as they had to move things along in a speedy manner at GDC.

    Re: Co Op partners

I sure hope Online Co-Op is added, Offline would be fun but not all of us have friends that have a 360 or friends that even played Fable or even going to play Fable 2. Offline Co-Op is based upon the 2nd players Gamertag so you can't really have Co-Op if the 2nd player doesn't have a Gamertag. Lol I don't even have a second remote for my 360.

It seems like Offline Co-Op is based on a Online Co-Op system so why can't both be implented.
