TBH, I don't care that much, as long as the game is funWink [;)] And fun, when it gets down to it, is the most important part of any game, right?
Well yes, that is sort of the point Stick out tongue [:P]

    matneee:
I suppose something like Oblivion gives you these sort of options to some extent. Anyone's feelings about the combat mechanics aside, it gives you the choice to play as a typical RPG murderous lunatic with a sword, but there's also the option to play the Thieves Guild stuff where you hardly have to make anyone dead at all.

I tried playing through the Thieves Guild after doing the Black Hand missions ... it's really hard not to backstab everyone then.

    Some more DAO stuff.

Warden's keep, a DLC that will be available for purchase on day 1....price I'm hearing is $7 but I don't have a source for that.

    http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dragonage/news.html?sid=6232117&mode=news

The second link also provides info and videos on the Stone Prisoner DLC and the Blood Dragon Armor(for both DAO and ME2) that will be packed in ever new copy of DAO both Regular and LE versions. Additionally the Stone Prisoner will also be available to buy separately at $15(1200 MSP) for those that buy a used version of DAO.

    DAO achievements revealed:

    Brood Mother video:

A link to a working Sacred Ashes trailer though I have no idea for how much longer it will be working because EA is doing all they can to remove it from the internet. They already disabled most other You Tube videos showing it.

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20

I've been playing around with it and well I made my character, I print screened it in hopes of showing you all what I created with it in hopes of others sharing what there character may look like, and then it turned my computer off in which I lost my print screen and I cannot be bothered to try and make that character again. I am rather happy with the creator though, I was able to create Sovvolf (The character in which my profile is named after*), I'd chosen the Experienced voice set to which sounded about as much like Sovvolf as I'm going to get (Sovvolf as a northern accent and all the accents on there seems to sound like a very bad attempt at a southern accent). I was initially put off by the fact that I can only be a noble and not a commoner but the noble human trailer as made me more enthusiastic, the character doesn't seem to be as stuck up as I thought you might have to be.

*I always like to mention this so people don't think I've based a character after my self (which would be way too vain), the character Sovvolf was created in a book I made at about 11 and I had named my profile after the character.

Have they released anything about the tool set yet? I don't see how that would work on a console. I am sure it will be a G o o d [Good] game but I won't preorder it until I know which version will be best.Smily [:)]

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20

The toolset is PC only (although there is talk of trying to get the best of the produced modules onto the consoles) and has been in beta for a while. You can get access to the wiki for it through: http://social.bioware.com

PC Gamer UK has given this 94%:

"Thus begins Dragon age, one of the most enormous and astonishing of games. It's an unashamed high-fantasy RPG, rooted in the most traditional soil, yet set in a highly original world."

"This is not a game that can be simply explained. How does it begin? It begins in six completely different ways, and each of these can be met with a wildly different approach."

"Whether you play as a human, elf or dwarf, a rogue, warrior or mage, a noble or a commoner, Dragon Age requires a smart use of your wits and weapons"

"You can approach combat in a couple of ways, depending upon your personal preferences and the difficulty to which you've set the game. In theory, setting it to easy should let you fight in real-time, where you select opponents and issue instructions from a row of tiled attacks, spells and special items familiar to any MMO player, as the fight happens."

"As you and your party level up, at levels 7 and 14 you get a point to spend on a sub-specialism that opens up new talent trees. A warrior, for instance, can choose to be a berserker or champion, among others. A mage might opt for shapeshifting., allowing her to morph into an animal during battle. A superbly useful talent for a rogue is ranger, which allows you to call an animal to join your party."

"Humans are the dominant race in Ferelden. Dominant in some extremely unpleasant ways. Until a few hundred years ago elves were the slaves of humans. In theory they have been freed, but those who live in cities remain second-class citizens, forced to live in slums, either begging or finding menial work in human houses. A small number of elves broke away to live in the Dales, these "dalish" elves are attempting to recover their lost culture. Bitter and vengeful, they kill all humans who wander into their territory. The dwarves live in the Frostback Mountains. Mages are feared and loathed by all. Your first two hours playing as a human noble will have almost nothing in common with those of a dwarf commoner or Dalish elf. While you're taught the basics of combat, and introduced to party mechanics, the rest is unique."

"Whether you play as a male or female, there are various characters with whom you can fall in love. However this isn't a genderless universe, and a gay relationship will be recognised as such."

"The ending, which is different depending upon how you've played, manages to deliver on the anticipation built up, surprising you with new twists, and creating an appropriate sense of scale."

The reviewer took 80 hours (over the course of 2 months playing it) to complete it with a first playthrough. He goes on to say:

"This is the most enormously detailed game world I've experienced, its history stretching back thousands of years, its cultures vivid, beautiful and flawed, the battles enormous, the humour superb. Roleplaying games now have a great deal to live up to."

I am sure they will come out with expansions for this game. Maybe that is why you can't play a human commoner, because they will release that later.

They will NOT release any more origins as DLC/expansions. The developers already said this several times over on the BioWare forums. To add an origin would simply be too big of an undertaking that would basically require them to rewrite a large portion on the game and that's just not going to happen.

Never say never Darth, I imagine that at the present moment in time that would be logical thinking however in a years time when they have finished with the game and it's the sales are starting to slim then they might have a bash at adding a new origin.

No once the sales start to deplete they'll likely bust the price of the game down to make it more affordable as they get ready to release the sequel. They already said they are planning to make more Dragon Age games. that's what they did with Mass Effect.....once the sales went down they busted the price to $20 as they started advertising ME2.

I think I am going to be a Dalish Elf Rogue,  I believe that will be my first origin.Stick out tongue [:P]

A quick question for all you people who have been studying this game diligently for many a year; how big is the game world, how linear is it, and do you think the main story takes you everywhere, or is it, as I hope, a massive world you can explore by yourself?
I only wrote this because I hate you.

The game world is massive and should take 70+ hours if you do everything. Linearity I don't know, I simply never saw anything too convincing that it's not so I'd say to expect something like large areas to explore but only one place to go to advance the main story. That's just my guess though and I could be wrong. I highly doubt the Main Story will take you everywhere, they added over 65 side quests to the game after they had it just about finished for the PC when they delayed it 6 months to port it to consoles so that's 6 months of adding stuff to an already finished game while it was being ported so I'd say the MQ will take you through maybe two thirds of the areas and dungeons but probably less.

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20

You go through a unique origin story 2-3 hours long to get some motivation, character development and a sense of the society you come from. Then you're inducted into the Grey Wardens and go through a battle and a deception, blah blah blah, until you're tasked with uniting the peoples of the land to fight off the Darkspawn invasion. It's at this point when you're apparently free to roam the numerous game areas in any order you choose and proceed through the huge main campaign. In the end though, like BG2 it's not a sandbox game.
For some reason Birdo clearly has the voice of a Japanese man in this trailer. It's like... eating a cake. You expect the cake to be delicious, but when you bite into it, it sounds like a Japanese man. See what I'm trying to say here?

Just a question here, I've heard this game comes out on the 6th over here, I just need to know quickly if this is true. Also will the limited edition be out on the release date and how much will it cost in Britain?. Just need to know these things as I am considering purchasing the game on release date.
