Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?

I've been trying to be on a media blackout but couldnt help myself to see the uncharted 2 review on ign. It really does look fantastic and i pre ordered it, really wasn't sure if the co op and multiplayer thing would work but the beta showed it did and it looks like it has only been made better since the beta.

Also i got my g25 wheel for shift (who would have thought a decent nfs game would be released again ?) and gran turismo 5.

and well there is lots of other games i'm looking forward to.

Brutal legend (level design and gameplay looks a bit meh but seeing as it's a double fine game i'm probably going to buy it)
    Borderlands
    Heavy Rain (day one!)
Tropico 3 (the demo was fantastic)
Final fantasy 13, versus 13 and 14. Yeah that's a lot of final fantasy. Stick out tongue [:P]
Fifa10. Demo is the best football game i have played since PES4.
Football manager 2010. Doesnt look like much have changed but i always buy it anyway.
Eden (we havent seen anything from the game other than art work but a game based on AntiChrist is interesting).
Assasins creed 2. (Only if there is a demo, first one was horrible repetive and boring but new one looks pretty G o o d [Good].)

Ruse by Eugen Systems looks to be a pretty interesting RTS.

I'd link you to the place I heard of it, but I doubt many of you guys can read Dutch. Wikipedia or google it instead, or whatever.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?

In looking over Brutal Legend I think it's clear that Double Fine have learned their lessons when it comes to getting the right people to market their games.  Psychonauts was a huge success if you look at reviews but a huge flop if you look at sales.  Hopefully, if Brutal Legends is of the same quality, the studio will get some of the recognition it needs.

I've also been becoming increasingly interested with Alan Wake.  Reminds me of a Stephen King made-for-TV movie turned into a video game.  Which, if done right, could be interesting. Stick out tongue [:P]

I have no idea why people keep banging on about what a sales flop Psychonauts was. It sold 400,000 copies even before it was released outside of North America alone, then sold by the bucket-load after it was released in Europe then on various digital download services. The thing has shifted well over 500,000 units - that's pretty bloody G o o d [Good], y'knowWink [;)]

I think it's because most of us view it as a game that should have sold millions. Psychonauts is rather brilliant, and I've suddenly got the itch to play it again.

The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Considering it was on 3 platforms, that isn't pretty bloody G o o d [Good]. Ico which is only for one platform sold 700.000 and is still considered a flop when it came to sales, even a sony CEO was out saying that.

Psychonauts was a pretty high budget game and didnt sell nearly as much as majesco expected it to.

    The Bag:

I'm actually looking forward to quite a lot before the end of the year.

    My current pre-orders:
    - Demon's Sould
    - Persona PSP
    - Alpha Protocol
    - Dragon Age
    - Brutal Legend

other things I'm looking forward to:
    - Assassin's Creed 2
    - ODST
    - Modern Warfare 2
    - Unchartered 2
    - Borderlands
    - Pixel Junk Shooter
    - GTA 4: Ballad of Gay Tony

and I might give in and pick up Persona 3 PSP (I could play it twice in one year) and Way of the Samurai 3.

    ...

You rich ***. Stick out tongue [:P]

For some reason Birdo clearly has the voice of a Japanese man in this trailer. It's like... eating a cake. You expect the cake to be delicious, but when you bite into it, it sounds like a Japanese man. See what I'm trying to say here?

And yet I seem to remember a Sony CEO fairly recently refering to a game that had sold 600,000 copies at the time as having G o o d [Good] sales for a new franchise. Odd, that...Wink [;)]

Yes, but watch Brutal Legends sell over a million in no time at all.  And watch it be a lesser game to Psychonauts*. Stick out tongue [:P] Within that perspective it could easily be said that Psychonauts did not sell as well as it should have.  Perhaps "flop" isn't the right word, but unexpectedly low sales might be better.

    * Could be just as G o o d [Good] a game, I've no idea.  Just saying it'd certainly be an interesting comparison point if it didn't exceed the quality of Psychonauts.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?

Yeah, I know what you're saying. Saying it's sales were 'bloody G o o d [Good]' was a poor choice of words on my part - 'about average' would have been better.

Mind you, my lasting memory of Psychonauts was having to pirate the bloody thing because I couldn't get hold of a copy for ages, then eventually buying a copy many, many months after finishing it when it finaly made it to the UK...

While I'm sure maggot has already covered these screenshots like white on rice figured I'd drop the link here just in case he hasn't got his Heavy Rain fix yet.

Oh and i really hope sony wont end up censoring this game as it was rumored. Tits are G o o d [Good] (warning computer tits).

A high quality RTS game that advances the genre with new ideas. If it can be made to work really well on a console I'll seriously consider it. Natal should work.

I want a sandbox game that let's me create spaces -- fun, interesting spaces that others can explore.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?

LittleBig Planet on PSP. Because it's more LIttleBig Planet - for my money one of the top 3 best games ever made, really. I understand that some people don't 'get' it, and that's absolutely fine - different people like different things and all that. But I really, really like LittleBig Planet.

So far, it seems they've pretty much managed to do the whole thing on a PSP somehow, albeit with a lower resolution and two planes of depth instead of 3. But it looks quite staggering for a handheld game.
