Khione: fable999:Khione, did u mean "a
dynamic community to boot" part? or was it something else
"If the thought of a breadcrumb trail breaks your heart, know that there
are plenty of ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) things promised in Fable 2. Albion is expected to be
10 times the size from the original game with 11 fully free-roaming
regions and roughly 30 dungeons to explore. There are around 100
augmentable weapons, 70 augmentable clothes, and 20 different tattoos
and haircuts. There are only eight basic spell times, but they are
upgradeable to varying degrees, allowing for around 80 spells. Expect
to hear more than 160,000 lines of "AI-driven dialogue" while
adventuring through more than 150 unique quests and playing more than a
half-dozen minigames."
The bit about the number of clothing and haircuts/tattoos bugs me. It's
so vague. Now assuming "clothing" works similarly to in Fable (a set of
clothing consists of a chest-leg piece combo, gloves, shoes, and hood),
70 clothes equals about 17 sets.
In Fable, there were "female" looking clothing that allowed the hero to
cross dress a bit; how the heck is this going to work now that the
player can be either female or male? Are we going to see the somewhat
lame World of Warcraft/Oblivion deal where outfits magically morph to
your gender, going skimpy on a female while being full plate-mail on a
male? Is the already scant "17" outfit types going to be devided into
male and female wear, allowing women to wear masculine outfits (say, a
gentlemen's suit) while a male character can "drag" about in the few
female intended pieces? Or are we ridiculously fortunent enough to have
70 -sets- of clothing rather than 70 individual unique pieces?
Same story with the hair; are hair types gender specific? Do they change based on your gender?

well, I don't think that the hair and tats will be a problem but, I do agree with the clothing part. Ima really getting scared that that will be a problem with co-op play. You will always see someone with gear in any game( except borderlands which has been said to have like 500,000 weapons and armor) but, with the way fable did its clothing everyone is going to be wearing the same junk. So you'll see people in your world, 1 at a time ofcorse, with no different armor and or clothing you have...

Peter Molyneux From GDC:He said, "I was really disappointed in you lot. I expected more of you to be ![E v i l [Evil]](/emoticons/e_v_i_l.gif) . 70 percent were pure ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) y ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) ies, and only 5 percent managed to play all the way through the game as ![E v i l [Evil]](/emoticons/e_v_i_l.gif) . So this time, I'm going to make it really, really tough being ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) ."
Man, that is fcking bullsh*t...goD damn that fcking irritates me...
WTF do you expect when you give us Points for killing Baddies?? Are you expecting us not to kill the Baddies who attack us?? We should just have run away every time a Bandit shot his Crossbow at us, boy you guys are brilliant...
So, apparently it's OUR FAULT because you put a trash mechanic in the game...Hell, we practically became Saints by walking from Bowerstone to Oakvale because of the enemies on the roads...
Obviously it's our fault, it's not your fault, it's us...Because we told you to give us Points for gaining experience, that's it, you've pin pointed it...
Man, they had that same bullsh*t statistic like a year ago and I got mad back then, and this didn't help...You people at Lionhead do not understand that concept...
We had NO WAY of becoming without doing ridiculously stupid things...We had to go out of our way to be ...We had to fight guards for like 10 minutes to offset the Points we got while just traveling and fighting...
So you're blaming us for not fighting guards and killing villagers every other second?? Being means you have to be a moron and attack innocent NPCs?? That's your definition of ??
You might as well blame us for not being overweight in the game either...I guess it's our fault we didn't want to go out of our way to constantly eat and keep up with the fact that, you automatically start getting thinner within minutes after getting fat...
Yeah, I don't hear you people at Lionhead bringing up that little fact...I don't see you people at Lionhead doing background checks on "fat/skinny" Heroes, yet the same rules apply there...
You made it abundantly clear you wanted us to be ...Then you turn around and blame us for that, because you guys fcked up?? You people just don't get it, it's fcking ridiculous...My goD, no fcking way are we getting blamed for your mechanics, you messed up, then told us we did something wrong, that is utter bullsh*t...

I wouldn't read too much into that Porta. I know it came from PM, but they did say they were basic and that you could have 80 spells, which is pretty ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif)
As for the clothes they said that 70 pieces would be augmentable, which could mean that not all the clothed in Fable 2 will be augmentable.
I do hope that they have more haircuts and esp. tattoos. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif)

first off i am dissipointed in redrum because you're getting ticked off about what he said. he wasnt blaming you for it he was just sad that no one took the bad part of the main quest and that practically everyone chose to take the ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) way... and he also stated that he was going to fix that... he said that they were going to make it a lot harder to tear away from those ![E v i l [Evil]](/emoticons/e_v_i_l.gif) choices, such as there might be a lot more power down the dark path. seriously i mean damn, how can you say all those things about lionhead and peter

Yeah but its is still only 8. Those variation could be very minor. It like games that claim to have a 100 different armor but there is really only 10 but in different colors. I highly doubt that there is a list of 80 spells as it would be way too hard for a mage to navigate though in real time.

Something still seems off about that GDC presentation, think about how many Fable 2 features have been promised and how few we have actually seen. I'm not trying to imply that Lionhead won't deliver, but think about it for a second. Whats left before launch? Basically E3 and GCDC right? So what have we heard about that hasn't been shown?
Dynamic environments, seasons, expressions and NPC interaction, magic combat, ranged combat (in depth ranged combat), dog morphs, hero morphs, new alignment types and how they work, final death system, new enemies, anything to do with the storyline, NPC AI, PvP (assuming it exists), online co-op, jobs, dungeons, stealth, Albion economy, and probably a few more that I can't think of right now. Those are the things we know the game will have but only have a vague idea about, there might be other unannounced features as well.
I don't see why they are holding back info at this stage of development, hopefully Lionhead goes all out at E3.
Are you an ODST (fanboy)?

My guess is that half of those things are still incomplete and/or full of bugs, so they aren't ready to show to people or talk about (because they might end up having to take it out) so they've only been feeding us what little parts they've nearly perfected. And they want you to buy it to see what it's all about. ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) marketing strategy. Lots of hype and lots of mystery means ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) sales!

80 spells yes, but probably not able to be used all at once. You'll probably be limited based on the choices you make.
For example, if you took your base fire spell and chose to go down the path of ball mastery ( I have no idea what I'm talking about, just throwing random ideas out there) then you wouldn't be able to go into into the jet mastery. If you then took your balls into the splash mastery, you wouldn't be able to go into the fragment mastery. If you then took your splashy balls into burning over time mastery, you wouldn't be able to do into running liquid mastery.
Okay, that's enough talking about what you can or can't do with your balls, but I think you get the point. (or I hope I got it across anyway) Even though there will be 80 different spells, you won't be able to learn all of them with one character. In that way you will have to specialize your character into the types of spells you want to use, and then evolve it based on what you use in the game and what you choose to go into.
Not only will this make your character that much more unique, but it also adds to the replayability, giving you that "I wonder what would have happened if I would have gone down X spell path" motivation to play through again with different choices.
We can't cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live our lives in happiness.

lol "ball mastery" But yeah only 8 spells seems lame IMO. Looking at the list of spells in Fable 1 its hard to choose which one I would get rid of to end up with only 8. They were so ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) I don't want them to not return. I agree with fablier for a game that is supposed to be feature complete they really aren't tell us/showing us much. Hmm ![Tongue Tied [:S]](/emoticons/emotion-7.gif) .

I like it, personally. 8 spells compared to that humongous spell list before sounds a lot more balanced compared to the 3 Strength and 3 Skill you had to choose from in F1. Plus, lots of spells can be lumped together. Assassin's Rush and Slow Time are almost the same thing but with different reference points. Multiarrow and Multistrike are the same thing: just have one spell that applies to both. Fireball, Enflame, and Battlecharge are pretty much different directions of the same fire. The 2 ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) / ![E v i l [Evil]](/emoticons/e_v_i_l.gif) spells could be the same thing but act differently depending on your alignment. Plus you only need 1 Force type spell; it just reacts differently depending on what you use it on. You get the picture. Just advance in the different applications of the 8 basic lumps of Will. And another thing: no more spell scrolling! 8 directions on the D-Pad... 8 spells... see a connection? Although the D-Pad is for expressions, too, I believe... hmmm....

Yes, less spells means less scrolling but it also means less spells. While in Fable 1 I may have thrown a fireball at someone then did a battle charge to knock them down and move in close and finished it all off with enflame now I can only have one of those spells as they all fit into the fire category in your example. For those people concerned with the arcade game making players rich I found this interesting linkWow Albion is expensive.
