I agree. Although you can't blame us. How prominent tribalism is, is not helped when certain developers only make games for certain consoles. (Although that's likely mostly a producer choice.)

Not always games fallout 3 was nasty to ps3 players, only dlc for pc and 360, so before I buy if there was a release of dlc I download it of the xbox for ms points but how would that work with ps3, just curious because some games are saying about dlc and the game isnt released yet.

    >2. This is not exactly true. While the PS3 has significanty greater processing potential, the 360s graphics architecture is said to be better. The PS3s architecture is more processor centric, meaning it is better suited to other processing tasks such as decoding media and calculating physics and AI.
Anh, now if you want to get technical about it, I'l have to insist you know what you're talking about i'm afraidWink [;)] The PS3's graphics architecture is designed so the Cell Processor (CPU) is part of the graphics pipeline. Effectively, all kinds of graphics tasks can be offloaded onto it's SPUs, hence graphics far beyond the reach of it's RSX graphics chip alone are now being achieved. This is how it was always planned

well... to get really technical about it, it wasn't really it's a lot of rewriting of history from Sony.  If you followed the development then you'd know (as I'm sure you really do) that is was all meant to be done on the cell originally.  Then they abandoned that idea for a dedicated graphics processor from nVidia.  Unfortunately the RSX wasn't as G o o d [Good] as they were led to believe so now developers boost it's power by sharing the load with the Cell.  It was never originally meant to be part of it, but it evolved to be part of it when other parts weren't quite up to scratch.  Does any of this matter, no not at all but I'm bored with people buying into Sony's PR.

(plus if the cell was really designed to be part of the graphics pipeline it would have shared memory with the RSX, not split memory.  Additionally it would have more than a 4 wide vector size.)

What - so you're telling me the PS3 that went on the shelf didn't have the Cell as part of the graphics pipeline? Or are you just being pedantic and picking holes in my phrasing?

EDIT - and as far as I'm aware the cell does allow for the XDRAM main memory to be used in graphics processing...Tongue Tied [:S] Not that that matters either, but I'm bored of people buying into Bill Gates' PR comments from 3-4 years agoWink [;)]

In fairness, Fallout 3 for the PS3 was a bit rubbish in the first place, so any DLC would arguably just be prolonging the agonyWink [;)] That said, DLC for that particular title just isn't going to happen for PS3. If it did happen, it'd appear the same way as other DLC for the machine, in that it's be available in the Playstation Network store, you buy it, and it installs to the Hard Drive. Bit it ain't gonna happen for Fallout...

Annoyingly, I bought Fallout 3 for PC. Well, that's not the annoying bit - loved the game, one of the best RPGs I've played and it played like a dreamSmily [:)] Well, that was when I installed it before upgrading to Vista 64bit, which is what I then tried to play the 1st expansion on. Took me 6 hours just to get the thing running for more than 2 minutes without crashing to desktop...

In the PSN store how would I but it unlike XBL I dont see any cards for points, do they have a point system ? or is it just paying for the dlc.

No there is no point system, it shows what the things costs. You can add money to your wallet on psn if you want to.

Well my 360 died and I have considered buying a ps3 instead of chancing onother RRoD, but I dont know which one to choose, there are to many fanboys giving biased arguments so please dont turn this into a xbox rules or xbos sucks thread Thanks.

Not to sound like some kidn of anti-360 ranter, are you planning on using the console for more than a few months? If yes, PS3 easily. If you want to play games for a few weeks, a 360 might hold out that long to allow you to play some games.

Ok, I'm being unfair. If you get a 360 you might play it constantly for years and it might not break, but the failure rate is still appalling. If any other console breaks you can hazard a guess that, most likely, it's because of the person who owns it instead of the console itself. I still have a SNES which works just as well as it did when it was brand new, and I'm sure lots of people can say the same for even older consoles. I think I can safely assume that not many people will be saying that about 360s.
All it really comes down to is the games you like. If you prefer the games that are on the 360 instead of the PS3 and if you can live with the fact there's a reasonable chance it'll need to be repaired or replaced at some point, get the 360.
Of course, if you want to play online this opens up a completely different can of worms, but if you don't mind paying a fairly small amount on a regular basis the short answer is still just get the one with games you like.

I chose ps3, erased my xbox 360 hardrive and already tying to sell the games, I decided there are G o o d [Good] games for both, and I dont want to get a new 360 just to have it break again in a few months, the xbox is just to unreliable IMO, plus online is free with ps3 so that cuts costs down.

There's a difference between 'always planned' and what really happened, that's all I'm saying so please give me some credit and not try to paint me as some fanboy.  The end result was the same, I just like people to get their history right.

re the memory - it's a clean split, the cell gets 256 & the rsx gets 256, rather than a unified 512, and they can only access their own memory meaning things have to be manually shifted around.  It would be much more efficient (and flexible) for them to be able to access the same memory, especially with the cell picking up the slack.

    Re: ps3 or 360

    Personally, I prefer the 360.

I prefer the 360-exclusive games (Halo, Fable, Banjo Kazooie etc) to the PS3 exclusive games - although LittleBigPlanet looks G o o d [Good] and Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games both work on PS3 titles (although to be honest Crash Bandicoot and Spyro appeal to me much more than Drake's fortune and Resistance: Fall of man do Stick out tongue [:P])

More of my friends have 360s (I only know a few people with PS3s) and, although it's £40 per year, I prefer Xbox live to the PS3's online service.

I still have my PS2 though, and a load of old PS1 games Big Smile [:D]

    Re: ps3 or 360

Well I was going to get a PS3 for my 18th last November but the price was still at around 400 Squid and I wasnt paying that for a console when I could get a 360 for £130 specially when it didnt have that many games that stood out, it did have a G o o d [Good] movie I planned on watching that was exclusive to the PS3 called Metal Gear Solid 4 but I wasnt paying £400 to watch it, I said to my self that I would buy a PS3 when maybe they go down to a reasonable price, and now I dont have a job to buy one now so ile stick to the 360.

I like the 360 though, dispite the only costing money which I(I = Father) gladly pay for, mainly becuase it contains exclusive downloads for games.

Its unfair that PS3 players brag about Blu Ray because Sony has ownership of it. Besides Microsoft could steal the idea and call it Purpl Laser. Also don't get a 360, just wait until 2010-2012 when Microsoft will release Xbox 720 and play 360 games on that!

You stand correct.  PS3 will have it all one of these days.
