Re: LIONHEAD!, please take your time on Fable III!

Bear with me here peeps since I'm not sure if what I write will capture what I am trying to convay.

I'm not sure when LH started development of Fable 2 but it was announced in 2006 so the development must have started a year or 2 sooner.

My thoughts and guesses are that as Fable 2 was being developed more and more aspects were polished and added as the technology of the 360 and the Fable engine were exploited.

Now there comes a point were the product continues its limbo in the development phase and reaches a point were the question needs to be asked, "gees will this thing ever get done!" I see this sort of thing in model building all the time were the perfectionist keeps holding back the finished product with the excuse, "this thing still needs to be improved".

I think after a point in time the folks at LH decided to draw a line with Fable 2, and I'm guessing that's pretty much when the development of Fable 3 began. So LH still had all these ideas for Fable 2 but lacked the time to implement them so the decision was made, I'm guessing, that all further ideas would be implemented into Fable 3, just get Fable 2 out learn what we can from it's release and take notes for Fable 3.

All this is just a guess of course but it seems the most likely senerio.
Fable Definition: A short, pithy animal tale, most often told or written with a moral tagged on in the form of a proverb. Thus to convey a moral is the aim of most fables, and the tale is the vehicle by which this is done.

Carbuncle, the iPhone has the potential and hardware to be one of the most powerful and useful mobile devices on the market. However Apple have decided that even if you buy the phone off contract for £900 that they still own the phone and can dictate how you use it (for example, they retain the right to remove applications from their store and every device that has paid for those applications with no refunds available to those users). Their stringent terms are crippling it's potential unless you jailbreak it and then they're screwing over those who have jailbroken their iPhones with each new firmware update by turning off certain features and blaming it on network incompatibility (something that anyone in the business knows is a crock). Add in the fact they're currently being sued because they've refused to pay license fees on the technology they used to create the device and that they've aggressively and illegally marketed it in most sectors (network exclusivity is illegal in the UK and most of Europe for example) and the base reason that I hate the iPhone is that Apple are screwing people repeatedly with it.

Canoehead, you're probably right. I'm hoping they've finished the weapon belt off this time. The Gypsy shirt was the only one that didn't look weird with a weapon floating on the back.

Sweetest moment in the game? My dog came back from the dead to help me open the Rookridge Demon Door. I fed him a snack and he followed me to see what the treasure was. When I left, he disappeared, having helped his master out one final time.

i agree, the main problem with games these days is that the team behind it is stressed out by a time-line. i do not care if the game is held back multiple times, as long as it meets most, if not all (i know, that is asking a lot) of our expectations then you can take all the time in the world... just don't make it centuries... or never ^^ [^^]

    Wait a minute, here...

    CiderDrinker:
Fable II, although an alright game, had an awful lot missing, and only really kept me entertained for about 3 months - Not quite worth £40.

The game kept you entertained for three months and you're complaining?  How long do you expect a game to last before you've moved on to the next one? Seriously?

Agreed, though some games last years. Ie - Morrowind, I've been playing since '05 and haven't gotten bored, been playing Oblivion since '07 and haven't gotten bored. Granted, there are mods for both (mods for TLC too, thus it still has a rather longer life span than Fable 2) so I do see his point. Although 3 months is significantly longer than those FPS's. Stick out tongue [:P]

OK, first I'll start with meralonne.
More and more, it will become vital to video game developers to make games with stellar replay value. Assuming that cider has completed the game 100% or gotten close, and has played through it a few times, his complaint is legitimate. 3 months isn't that long of a time, especially when you look at the replay value in GTA 4 and her expansions; Oblivion and its expansions; and even Fable TLC. You also have to consider the money we shell out.
As for SD, I disagree on Morrowind. lol it's a personal thing, just could never get into it
