    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

    s1yf0x:
    sCM redruM:

    Peter Molyneux From GDC:
He said, "I was really disappointed in you lot. I expected more of you to be E v i l [Evil]. 70 percent were pure G o o d [Good]y G o o d [Good]ies, and only 5 percent managed to play all the way through the game as E v i l [Evil]. So this time, I'm going to make it really, really tough being G o o d [Good]."

Man, that is fcking bullsh*t...goD damn that fcking irritates me...

WTF do you expect when you give us G o o d [Good] Points for killing Baddies?? Are you expecting us not to kill the Baddies who attack us?? We should just have run away every time a Bandit shot his Crossbow at us, boy you guys are brilliant...

So, apparently it's OUR FAULT because you put a trash mechanic in the game...Hell, we practically became Saints by walking from Bowerstone to Oakvale because of the enemies on the roads...

Obviously it's our fault, it's not your fault, it's us...Because we told you to give us G o o d [Good] Points for gaining experience, that's it, you've pin pointed it...

Man, they had that same bullsh*t statistic like a year ago and I got mad back then, and this didn't help...You people at Lionhead do not understand that concept...

We had NO WAY of becoming E v i l [Evil] without doing ridiculously stupid things...We had to go out of our way to be E v i l [Evil]...We had to fight guards for like 10 minutes to offset the G o o d [Good] Points we got while just traveling and fighting...

So you're blaming us for not fighting guards and killing villagers every other second?? Being E v i l [Evil] means you have to be a moron and attack innocent NPCs?? That's your definition of E v i l [Evil]??

You might as well blame us for not being overweight in the game either...I guess it's our fault we didn't want to go out of our way to constantly eat and keep up with the fact that, you automatically start getting thinner within minutes after getting fat...

Yeah, I don't hear you people at Lionhead bringing up that little fact...I don't see you people at Lionhead doing background checks on "fat/skinny" Heroes, yet the same rules apply there...

You made it abundantly clear you wanted us to be G o o d [Good]...Then you turn around and blame us for that, because you guys fcked up?? You people just don't get it, it's fcking ridiculous...My goD, no fcking way are we getting blamed for your mechanics, you messed up, then told us we did something wrong, that is utter bullsh*t...

wow....ouch...that seemed to release alot of anger....

Yeah, but I couldn't agree more.

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

Well I'm kinda sad about the death system, but at the same time it's exciting!

We knew what the system was going to be, we speculated on how it would work. Some people liked it, some hated it, some didn't really care either way. Apparently they couldn't get it to work right and be enjoyable for the player (maybe something with combat not giving any money, and needing to work [quite literally] to get rid of your scars. I don't know) and now we have no idea what's going on. Some of you may say "Boo, they lied to us. It's the acorn to tree all over again!" but I say "Huzzah!"

We have no leads, we have no information, all we have is speculation. Will they revert to the old savegame loading? Will they add hospitals or certain points of resurrection? Will they just keep blacking out and get rid of scarring only? Will your dog protect your body, growling at the attackers and then dragging you away and licking your face to wake you up once they leave? Who knows? Not me! Not you! Not any of us! We are now left in a state of suspense, with nothing but our own imaginations as our guides! This is a G o o d [Good] place to be.

We got some G o o d [Good] information from GDC, we got a look at how the visual aspect of the game is coming along. (The "still a couple layers of polish" thought makes me drool inside) We saw enough new things to let us know a little bit of what's going on, but not enough to have any real idea of what's in store for us. This too is a G o o d [Good] place to be. As we get closer to release and more features are finalized we will learn more about what to expect, whether from dev diaries or just announcements.

I'd rather have little bits of information given over regular intervals than one big bulk and then nothing for extended periods. I fear that would make me go crazy, or moreso than I already am.

    I am happy.Up []

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

Ah, to be honest I was never too sure about Scardeath. I mean with the way it worked and with you having to give up gold/renown/experience or take a scar I figured that most players would restart rather than give up what they have. But I very much like the concept of getting some sort of punishment for "dying", what that punishment would be now I'm not certain of. My idea is that when you die your teleported back to the last town you were at and get booed and pelted with food by the citizens there, that would most certainly make me feel like crap. But most people probably wouldn't like the idea of being teleported back to town.

It seems like alot of you are on the "If I havent seen everything I havent seen anything" Thought..
I personally dont care how they do deaths. Since the game isnt about dying...
Eitherway I like what fable 2 is doing.. Its trying to be.. Whats the word... uh... "FUN"...

I think they will probably have more of a GTA style solution to death now.

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

Indeed it would be a tricky to become E v i l [Evil] in Fable if you were only to play through the missions, however a big part of Fable is about interacting with your environment.  There are plenty of ways to rack up E v i l [Evil] points such as stealing armour from shops, breaking and entering, slaying home owners so that property becomes available, eating chicks to restore hp, and sacrificing innocents at the temples.

There seem to be many aspects of Fable that are overlooked by the players, such as making money via investing in real estate.  People complained about not being able to make gold although its actually quite simple.  This applies to real life as well - but I wont bore with details.

In any case, Fable isn't a game meant to be raced through.  If you take time, plenty of opportunities to be E v i l [Evil] will arise.  What I think the problem really was... is that nobody wanted to be ugly and bald.  Smoker [:zmoker:]

    Stiegler:

Me either.. it was almost non existant..
You just got taken to the hospital and it let you play as if nothing had happened.. with a tad less money then you had before though...
    Nothing serious..
"Oops I made a whoopsie.. Oh well thats ok though, Im in bowerstone again with 3 gold coins missing. Time to go back and die again" Repeat that in till you manage to defeat the boss or whatever..

    I didnt play as E v i l [Evil] because I just dont like how E v i l [Evil] is portrayed in fable..
    E v i l [Evil] in fable = A guy who slaughters civilians mindlessly
    Tongue Tied [:S]
But even if being E v i l [Evil] had more depth Id still probably play as a G o o d [Good] character..

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

But isn't that very similar to ScarDeath? The only deference is instead of just getting back up now when you lose you actually lose because you can't just get back up and kill your enemy and that you will be moved to a new place.

The reason I mentioned that they may move to a GTA style death system is because a dev was discussing it on the boards not to long ago. They may have a completely new death system but since we have no information I just thought the next most likely system is the GTA one.

Not sure if all of you guys watched the videos from GDC. If you didn't you're missing out. Check it out here.

I didn't have time to create a new thread (plus it'd be a waste of space) or read through all these posts to see if it's been said but, the single most AMAZING thing I saw in the demonstration was the point where PM and JamieEngland were fighting the Hobbes and PM stabbed a hobbe then whipped around and shot one behind him. Think about it. In every game where you switch weapons it takes 20 minutes to pull out your other weapon. Oh, and the new gear looks BAD ASS. Did you see the blue trench coat JamieEngland was wearing?? /drool

Pay special attention to the part about Molyneux "getting cut off at the knees" though.  There's a lot of truth in that statement regarding his announcement of the third feature.  Wink [;)]

True, I kind of assumed that was what happened.  I found the part about the bread crumb trail to be the most interesting.

It's kinda funny you saying that Mort after you defended the Friday rehash so vigorously.

I heard this interview earlier but didn't think anyone would be interested. I guess I was wrong. Thanks for contributing fablierUp []

Another small piece of information I heard regarding Fable is that James Silva the maker of the Dishwasher: Dead Samurai XNA game had a conversation in which Peter Molyneux told him the Dog will die. Here is a write up link

Oh yea we deffinatly aren't getting the whole story. What information was new on friday that wasn't announced on Wednesday? What seems to have happend was PM had something planed for us but at the last minute had to pull the presentation so he just went over the same stuff he did on Wednesday.

Just a handful of things.  The breadcrumb system, the safety feature, and a few other small things.
