    Re: New/Edited Maps Screenshots

After some time here is the finished and textured BnW: Land 2. It mght look crappy, but it's the best I could do on such short notice. And as I have said before I can't fit all the map, which is why it looks squashed.

Ah, brings back memories. Happy [:)] Great job on the work you're putting into making all these B&W2 maps. Try a little more variation in grass colour though. And avoid completely flat grassland.

    Re: New/Edited Maps Screenshots

I'm redoing the first land I designed because...it wasn't very good. Harmonixer did a great job texturing for me first time round but a great job just doesn't seem so great if you didn't do it yourself ;p I havn't really started yet, as you can see...I will also need some help scripting later on because I still can't get that sorted. I just fail miserably whenever I try :s

Doesn't it. But to tell the truth, I couldn't give a damn about the main BW2 game anymore, and all I'm interested in making maps and scripting them, especially the original game's maps. Ah, I've missed BnW1 ever since my cd broke years ago.

These pictures are a bit old and I do have some variation on grass texture. It's so hard going through the textures to find the right one. But thanks. My dream at the moment is to make all the BnW maps through the eyes of the BnW2 game engine.

Here is the most recent screenie of Land 2, looks better because I've spent some time on it. And I have gone into great detail to exact. So tell me, is this is exactly like the original game's Land 2 or what.

After looking at the village store I think you might've made the land too big. Silly [:p] I'll compare it when I play B&W today. Happy [:)] There's only one flaw in it and it's that the Ice Land for Lethys is in the wrong spot, iti should be more to the riight, it's no biggy though just telling you. Happy [:)]

You're right. Thanks to Lionhead's brilliant landscape editor, I will be able move it to the right more without having to delete it.

    Re: New/Edited Maps Screenshots

hey i have an idea for your map, Daxter you should try to re-create the silver scrolls that were in the original game like the one where people go to worship that big statue and you have to destroy it and the circus people who want animals, you could create one of every type of animal and hide it around the map, and when they are around the circus people, you get tribute and maybe a creed shell with a new power for the animal scroll, look at the llama script that someone made, i think harmonixer made it, and work with that but that just a suggestion i could make one of those for if if you like so you have more time to finish the actual map

Thankyou for your offer, I have actually completed the main part and it looks more like the actual map now but you may if you wish. EDIT: In order for you to do this, I'll need to pass the map on to you. But only for these scripts and perhaps someone can do Land 2 for me, so I can also get a start on Land 3 and Land 5 ( I don't have pics for Land 5 though and sadly I don't have the original game either). Again, it is possible to get most of the scripts of the original game into the new maps and I know that for a fact. EDIT EDIT: I do need someone to script for me now because I am too busy finishing off Land 1, doing the three puzzles for Land 4's final stone and scripting a whole map for Gingarilla. EDIT EDIT EDIT: So much to say, but this the final thing. Very soon I will post the screenie of the finished and textured Land 2.

A recent screenie of Land 2, the finished landscape. And Daemonium, I seem to be having trouble with these upload sites, however if I get it to work, then the link will be sent by PM to you.

Since Daemonium is doing the scripting for Land 2, I've started landscaping Land 3 and I think I've gotten the base I need to start shaping. Here is a pic.

One suggestion, don't use roads to make roads across the landscape. BW1 didn't even have roads anyway. Instead of roads, texture the land so the area looks like a dirt path.

I am aware of that however, this is not BnW1's engine so the people rely on roads to easily manoevour about, and if there was dirt and no roads the landscape would look crappy. Except how Lionhead did Land 1 of the campaign which is textured different and I don't want any more changes.

    Re: New/Edited Maps Screenshots

Here's what's happening with Land 3. I've discarded the base and decided to build the land by the pictures that I have, and it's starting to come together. Here is a screenie of the work so far. The parts of the landscape that are textured are what I definitely will use, so I can keep track of what's done. The grass colour is a bit bright so I will be changing a few things when it's finished

Ahem, another screenie of Land 3 and it's almost done. On this shot I've placed a few notes for changes to make the land look better, so if any comments come up about these, I've already noted about them. Plus I also managed to fit almost all the map in the editor.

    Re: New/Edited Maps Screenshots

I dunno for sure, but I think the chunk of land on the bottom right there looks to be in the proper position to me. You might just want to widen rather scrap the piece of land connecting it to the main island.

When compared to the original map it's looking like quite a good copy. I definately agree that the guru bit needs to be bigger. Otherwise, looking nice Happy [:)] btw, if you need anyone to do any texturing or mapping over the next few weeks then I'm free,

Thanks Harmy, in fact now that you mention it, I need someone to do Land 5 because I don't think I could do a map so big. Thanks if you can. EDIT: Btw that picture that you have is in fact what I need to finish it, as the one I have is too zoomed out and cloudy. So even though you didn't know you helped, in fact you have. Silly [:p]

Here's a map i'm making. It was inspired by Daxter's excellent maps! [qimg]http://img467.imageshack.us/img467/6261/tch7.jpg[/qimg] Notice how i've only used three textures, one for each type of land. Also notice how the montains pop out of nowhere, how they end at the same height, how smooth they are and how they suddenly drop into the sea. [qimg]http://img331.imageshack.us/img331/8933/ttem9.jpg[/qimg] The textures are very bright, making them realistic. And almost all of the land is flat.
A few tips: Use the smooth tool on the sand so it gradually disappears into the sea. Might want to do the same with the grass/cliff to make it a little smoother. I'd use a rocky texture on the cliff face as well. :/ Otherwise, looks like you're getting to grips with the editor nicely.
