Saw another free film today.
Todd Phillips' The Hangover, a film that has scored very highly with critics and got test screening responses so ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) there's a sequel already in the works, naturally the expectations are raised.
So how does our favouite Old School helmer fare after Starsky & Hutch and School For Scoundrels?
Amazingly poorly in actual fact, School For Scoundrels was a low ebb for Phillips, 5/10 as there were some very funny moments, and some amazingly awful stuff, but this, oh boy.
It starts out amazingly slowly, introducing the characters 1 by 1, the groom, a simple character as he has nothing to do in the film, he's lost throughout the runtime, then Zach Galifianakis Alan, the Seth Rogen-ey fat and fuzzy guy who is dumb but lovable, he's dumb for sure, but like all the characters there's not one moment you give a flying *** about them or their situations.
Bradley Cooper plays Phil, the strong leader of the gang, cool calm and collected, and he's so incredibly dull, he doesn't have a 'funny' moment, let alone something that you can laugh at as a normal human being.
Finally there's Ed Helms, Andy from the amazing Office USA, who is a boring dentist out in Vegas to let loose, who wakes up missing a tooth and married to Heather Graham's Stripper.
Cliches abound and yet there's not a single point where it turns to the original, or god forbid actually funny. This kind of comedy is similar to I Love You, Man, it seems funny but doesn't have the money moment where you draw the laugh from the crowd, they just laugh cos they know it's supposed to be a comedy.
At 3 points I laughed, 1. On Heather Graham takign Ed Helms' grandmother's holocaust ring Zach's character remarks "They gave out rings at the Holocaust?" Kinda funny, not really hysterical.
2. Todd Phillips' cameo, not anywhere near as ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) as "I'm here for the gangbang" but it's kinda funny.
3. Mike Tyson's Phil Collins moment, it's overused in the trailer but it's kinda funny.
Nothing else is funny, Ken Jeong is dull and laughs at fatness too often, the Love Guru laugh to remind people it's a comedy syndrome, same as the POW guy from Step Brothers and his sidekick in the police force laughing at their 'jokes', so unbelievably bad and unfunny.
The physical humour is limited in originality and amazingly dull, no real clever moments, absolutely nothing is ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) in this film, I cannot stress this enough, this is a BAAAAAAAAAAAAD f****ng film, absolutely dreadful, avoid like the plague.

Saw Night at The Museum 2 recently. It was generally very ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) but I couldn't help but feel that it had changed too much from it's original. It didn't seem like a sequel to me and the timing was just odd. He seemed to fly to the state and do what he does at the museum all in one night! (I won't spoil it) Still pretty ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) . In DVD terms recently watched was Disturbia which I now class as my favourite movie. I've got it on my iPod. Seriously ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) . Also watched Hot Fuss recently. Very Very Very ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) .

Alright, as always I went to see a film on my Neddy No No list, or as is relevant with this film my "No. NO! Don't Shut Me Up" List (Films that look awful over summer)
Obviously there are the films I will never see, Harry Potter, Ice Age, that malarky, but sometimes there are films that get ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) reviews and you kinda wanna see them even if they suck, Wolverine, Star Trek, and this one, Terminator Salvation.
So, lets begin with one thing, twice in the credits the name McG came up, both times I scoffed. I mean "A Film By McG"? Really? McGinty is bad enough, but McG? I mean, the writers did Catwoman with Pitof, did they think working with directors whose DGA card has more than 6 letters would be bad for their career? McG was alright with the Charlie's Angels flicks cos they were big dumb balls of fun, but this is Terminator, there's no time for humour, as the film is incredibly serious to the point of being annoyingly dull, so seeing his name there, well, it just doesn't make much sense.
The intro with Sam Worthington struggling to hide his Aussie accent with a gruff American one sets the scene for the struggle of dialect he faces over the film, and thanks to the trailers the shocking revelation that he was programmed to have trouble with the accents as a Terminator are ruined. In the opening scene Helena Bonham Carter's cancer-ridden doctor please for Marcus to give her his body after he is killed, the subtle dialogue reveals he is on death row for killing his brother and others because he informs her he did that incase she didn't already know, thank you.
He asks for a kiss in exchange for giving her his body, and claims it tastes of death, there's no effing point to this stuff whatsoever and do set the scene for some WTF at what point did Christian Bale say "Yeah this is a f****ng ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) script, not unprofessional, I'm a nice f****ng guy", and was it the re-writes where John Conner was added more, for no reason whatsoever really, that added this gunk too?
John Conner's character for the most part looks and speaks in a gruff Batman/Gran Torino style, and the action consists of one sequence near the start, then riding a motorbike Terminator, then a fight with Arnie and other robots. That's it, it's not about him, though he gets a lot of camera time for that.
It is after all about Marcus Wright, a way to get Sam Worthington famous before Avatar makes the scene in the winter, and his journey as a decent man given a second chance, and going against the pre-conceptions of robots, get it, the humans hate them but he's a nice one, ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) Samaritan much?
So he helps people, including pilot Blair, played by Ewar Woowar wannabe Moon Blood ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) , mnbldgd?
He goes around battling things, being all ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) guy hero, then has the whole what am I, then has the whole, I'm not a robot, I'm a human being, incredibly predictable, but that's how these writers work.
Add to that this subplot of Conner and the Resistance finding a frequency that controls Skynet and using it for their advantage, 3 scenes, never anything more than one jet is used on, Kyle Reese played by Anton Yelchin, part of the Summer of Anton alongside his Chekov in Star Trek, who just does solid work as always in a thankless role with very little to do except exposition and running around. Bryce Dallas Howard is stuck being a pregnant doctor kissing Bale every so often and doing sod all else, and that's exactly what all the other actors do, they say some lines, stand in the background and aren't used again. Hell, Blair, after some action in the middle, is completely ignored.
The film has an odd feeling, the three act structure is clean and clear, but by the end it feels incomplete, yes it's aiming on another trilogy, two in one year for Yelchin, ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) work sir, but it'd have been nice to do some tidying up at the very least, not just exploding a San Fransisco factory as it's climax, maybe tie up the fighter piloting with the frequency, blare it out from up high to shut down terminators to allow the Resistance collect humans picked up by a harvester robot, not used much and given up on like all other parts of this film, for a Bale-Worthington third act.
Some of the action is cracking, and although there is never any sense that anyone will die at all in any way, the CGI and some concepts in the chases and the like are nice, of course come the up close Terminator/human fighting it's dull and feels like Transformers or Iron Man, nothing new like the whole film.
Editing is well done for the most part, some sped up moments look out of place in a comic fashion, the look of the film is saturated, and the twilight sequences feel very green-screeny, the lighting isn't noticeable, he clearly didn't trash any lights, and well, the sound, this is a separate paragraph.
Danny Elfman's score trudges along, he has to stick with pre-concieved themes, and uses some loud screechy instruments, but it's not much, he doesn't have any classic Elfman moments, and it just doesn't sound distinguishable or hummable like Transformers or Star Wars or his own Wanted last year, which was a nice score.
The sound design though, wow, lots of nasty metal scraping and gunshots, and whilst it starts off relatively quiet for an action film by the end it becomes ear-bleeding loud in a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) way, in a 7.1 Blu-Ray pausing and rewinding to hear specific moments this soundtrack will be amazing.
It's just a shame that the acting is dull, the plot is flying around without giving much closure, the action whilst ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) isn't new and the pacing can be amazingly overlong at some points.
Though for a film I couldn't give a flying funk about it's done a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) job to make me enjoy it.
7/10

I went to go see Terminator Salvation yesterday. I have seen the first 3 quite a few times [well... I've seen the first two numerous times but the 3rd about 3 or 4 times which is very low for me given I watch movies again and again that I like. T3 was alright imo] and remember the links and what not of which I noticed in the movie. Before this came out, I was skeptical they would get it right given T3 was pretty dissapointing but I had quite a bit of hope given the recent re-boot in the franchise [The Sarah connor Chronicles] which has been fantastic [shame it ended though, show].
I really enjoyed the movie and would go see it again. 5/5.
Below is my review:
WOW! Oh my god. This was top-notch entertainment and makes you forget the mess T3 was. It's brilliant from start to finish. At heart it's very much a pop-corn action movie but it does have a very strong story coming through which I was pleasantly surprised by. The actors were great and Christian Bale really nailed his part. I wasn't sure about him doing John Connor but he delivered from watching the movie. I did wonder after Nick Stahl's flat performance as John Connor in T3 if they'd get it right again but they did. I'll be honest I'm not a Christian Bale fan and some people were saying that he sounded like Batman in this movie given his deep-voice but I'll be honest I didn't think he did really, at all. It was a lot better than I thought it would be, he sounded normal to me, not like Batman. So... yup, I thought he was pretty fantastic.
If you're a true, die-hard fan of Terminator then you'll most likely enjoy this. The homages, the references like "I'll be back, new terminators, even the T-600 and Arnold make an appearance! They're both great, I knew going in the Arnold cameo would be done 3D but it was pretty impressive. I did like how they brought something quite fresh into the franchise with Marcus being half man and half machine. I didn't think they would explain it very well through quite a bit of the movie but they did explain it very well in the end.
All in all, very entertaining and worth every minute. It was action packed but at it's core there was a real story going through it I felt. Great movie. The script was very clever, the dialogue was great, the action scenes are jaw-dropping and it was just really cool. I really liked how they showed Kyle Reese as quite a young guy in this one. I would say if you haven't seen the past ones you won't see the links and will find it hard to understand. Still, it is a standalone movie of the franchise for new people to come into it all and enjoy I think.
Overall: 10/10 Amazing movie, better than T3 by leaps and bounds. It actually has a story this time apart from robots bashing each-other up for the whole movie as shown in T3. T1 and T2 are great and have great story lines but T3 just messed it all up. A female terminator?!?! If you're going to do it right, do it right! For me, Kristina Loken sucked in T3 as the TX. I felt she was wooden, couldn't act [the only line I did like was "I like your gun", I didn't like "I like this car! and the whole rest] and she's not a terminator when you think about it logically. For example: I watched a few bits of it the night before I saw T4 and the TX was with Katherine Brewster near the start for 30 seconds! Now, come on, any terminator before and also in T4 would of have killed her by then! I just hope they don't have someone doing a bland performance like that as a female terminator again, it just was quite an insult to the series in my opinion [I wondered if she'd actually seen T1 and T2]. Only Summer Glau and Shirley Manson did the role of a female terminator justice in the Sarah Connor chronicles. All in all, very entertaining. It's different to T1, 2 and 3 but it's still very, very . I'd be very happy to see it again. It's a very worthy addition to the franchise, this and the very recent Sarah Connor chronicles. Hands down my favourite film of 2009 so far! This is only just behind Underworld 3 and Slumdog Millionaire is slightly behind Underworld 3.

Well... ***.
Mr. David Carradine is no longer of this Earth, Bill is killed, blah blah blah, those slightly sweet jokes are flying around, but still, it's a bummer.
Guy was brilliant, sure he did an awful lot of cack films, but he was ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) for sure, and his last film was Crank 2, playing a near immortal horny old man, perfect.
R.I.P. Mr. Carradine.

R.I.P. Mr. Carradine
Saw two incredible films...the first was Burn After Reading, latest of the Coen brothers. Its funny from start to finish, with outstanding performances from all the actors: Frances McDormand, George Clooney, John Malkovich, J.K. Simmons, Tilda Swinton...and who can forget Brad Pitt, outrageously great here. Its composed and cut well, keeping you invested in the story, the humor and the characters. Nicely done...10/10
And then, the French film La Haine. Its a beautiful snapshot and assessment of the social situation in the warzone of the French suburbs. Taking place over the course of a little less than 24 hours, we follow primarily three characters: Vinz (Vincent Cassell), Hubert (Hubert Koundé) and Said (Said Taghmaoui). All actors are at the top of their game, immersing themselves (And the audience) in their characters. The cinematography is downright astounding and beautiful; without a doubt, probably some of the best I've ever seen. The script rolls right along, keeping you invested in each character as you take in the broken world and ideals where it all takes place. Amazing, an absolutely amazing picture. Definetely watch this one...10/10

Was my little brothers birthday other day, so I thought I'd pay for him to go to the cinema to watch the new Terminator movie.
We'll overall the movie was but "not the future the movies warned me about".
Okay the action was popcorn action, the kind were you leave your brain at the door before you come in, but this is a Terminator movie you pratically have to, (If not your head thinks too much about, he sent kyle back in time to save his mother who he has sex with and creates john so he can send him back in time, but how was he alive to send him back to screw his mum??) But thats not a bad thing I enjoyed the action sequences, they were beautifully done, it would have been nice to see more of them. The movies more cryptic talking then action which is a shame.
The dialog in this movie was mixed too, I liked a few of the more original cheesy lines but well some of the lines just seem to have been put in there for the sake of it and they just come of as awful, "Ile be back", "Come with me if you want to live" its all there lol. But luckily that balanced out by acting, specially from Reece and Markus (Dont know the names of the actors), but for once Bales acting wasnt the highlight, it wasnt bad acting from him, I just expected more, bale in this movie is pritty much Bruce Wayne on a bad day, which the word typcast is starting to appear when ever I think about it.
Whats also a pain is that when ever I watch Terminator 1 or 2 (You know the one's) the glippses of the future you see look hectic, like every one's gone underground and machines are patroling day and night, HK's and Terminators everywere, but on this its practically empty, it's deserted, you see about 4 terminators through out the movie and they all seem like cameo's if I put the screen time together I bet they get about a minuite and a half of screen time.
The stories not too bad either, it just felt rushed and anti-climatic. There nothing there that really stands out about the story,
all in all 6/10 its not a bad movie, it has its problems but the action is and so is the acting, the storys not bad but nothing special, cheesy unoriginal dialog, but it still beats Terminator 3.
I was also half suprised to find that bale didnt kill the terminator by screaming at it and calling it unprofesional.
"IrishMorn" If Adon and Sagat step in....ah, what the hell, I'll get drunk and join in on that one.

Well, went to the cinema today for two reasons, 1 Mystery Movie June, wanted to see what it was, Looking For Eric, got to a piece of text at the start saying "It all started with a beautiful pass" when I got up and got a refund, stupid football films.
Also wanted to catch Last Chance Harvey.
Now, I didn't have a clue what the film was about but Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson is a great sell, Thompson is always golden, see I Am Legend, awful film, ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) intro. So here Hoffman is going to London from New York to his daughter's wedding, and he has one last chance to keep his job making jingles if he misses the reception, decisions decisions, of course when he is bumped from giving his daughter away in place of her step-dad, he runs off, but misses the flight due to traffic, and hangs out with Emma Thompson, an aging woman with nothing in her life except than annoying mother she loves.
Cue lots of walks and talks around London in a Before Sunrise kind of golden age style, talking about nothing and moaning about life, crying, being dramatic, gentle whimsy for the elders to enjoy, screening was packed with hundreds of 65+'s and none of them stopped talking during the film, no manners old people these days.
There's nothing here sadly, the plot is limited and cliched, the predictability is horribly extreme, the acting is almost completely awful except the two leads, and nothing is really ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) about the film, that said it's well made and looks ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) , especially for a clearly guerilla-shot series of scenes of walks and talks down the South Bank, even though the extras walk by more times than continuity allows and the leads are evidentially slow at walking, though getting to places in time is fine and dandy.
5/10
Then whilst the wait continued I swallowed my pride and sat in a screening of Night at the Museum 2 for two odd hours, hating the first one with a passion, I was surprised when I chuckled consistently for a long time of the film, and enjoyed some nice moments. It's a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) film, for the most part. Some humour is poor, and the singing angel things were odd, I was thinking WTF are these things, and why do they have such a lot of screen time, but alas, the writers are still the same, thankfully Stiller is better, more on target as a successful businessman trying to help his friends, not just a night guard this time, and Hank Azaria's villain is brilliant, as is his two voice parts, The Thinker and Abraham Lincoln.
The cast is fantastic, and deserves a thorough run through, including cameos.
Amy Adams - Always great even in bad films, here innocent and fun, and full of vinegar, very much a 20's kind of gal, and great fun.
Owen Wilson - Not much in the way of comedy, but he's acceptable.
Robin Williams - 3 scenes the poor guy gets, and by the final scene I wished he was in it more.
Christopher Guest - Doesn't have much to do, but the man is a legend.
Steve Coogan - Funny, besides some bad CGI and unnecessary kiddy style gags, a 300 Spoof is spot on.
Ricky Gervais - 2 Scenes, but alright, nothing spectacular in the way of comedy.
Bill Hader - Nothing exceptionally funny, but the man is awesome anyway.
Jay Baruchel - Awesome actor, small part, ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) Tropic Thunder reference.
Mindy Kaling - Small part, funny, awesome gal.
Clint Howard - Referencing his part in Apollo 13, nice gag.
George Foreman - No need for the cameo at the start, but it's funny enough.
Eugene Levy - Hysterical man, but suffers from being stupid Einstein bobble heads, not very funny, and they say "Pi, well, 3.14159 265 to be exact" Which is wrong, to be exact would be a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) couple dozen places more wouldn't it, and that's not ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) education for the kids.
Craig Robinson and Keith Powell (30 Rock's Twofer) - Not much, but nice little role as African American pilots helping Stiller and Adams.
Ed Helms - Andy from The Office, small role, nothing funny, but nice cameo.
Jonah Hill - Too blue for kids, as the Superbad commentary proved, he has a nice moment with Stiller, but nothing much.
There area few heavy issues with the film however, Owen Wilson's character is put into a sand timer and Azaria says Stiller has an hour before he is killed, but it's established in the first one they aren't human, they are living versions of the material, so Owen doesn't need to breath now does he.
Also near the end Amelia flies Stiller and co to New York with the tablet, so the Smithsonian won't be moving, even though a Squid was put in the water and told to go back later, after they left, and Amelia flies off perfectly after the tablet is taken into the Museum... Ummm, how?
Still, despite some awful CGI, bad gags, and a need for Fred Armisen to be Napoleon instead, he'd be far superior, plus some issues with continuity and plotholes, and the Pi thing being odd for Einstein to fail at exacting, it's a superior sequel, funny for the most part, interesting and actually has a villain.
8/10

sbhedges:Saw Night at The Museum 2 recently.
Changed too much? ![Hmm [^o)]](/emoticons/emotion-40.gif) . My complaint with sequels like this is that they're way too formulaic. Sure we already had the whole 'tablet makes museum things come to life and guard has to sort it all out' thing set up in the sequel, but it was still basically the same thing.
It wasn't an amazing movie, but it entertained me for an evening.
The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

First I will start by saying I will never ever ever ever watch Night of the museum 2, I would rather sell my soul first, not after the horrid torture I had to endure of watching the first film, The first time was enjoyable but having to watch it 3 times a day for 4 whole months just becuase theres a monkey in it, christ no, no, not again, almost cuagthed up blood when I heard a sequel was out.
okay now for some reviewing, was bored today so I bought a few DVD's from the money I had to starve my self at college to get.
The first one that cuaght my eye was Smoking Aces.
Now this movie I'd watched a few trailers for when it was coming out but I never got to see it, given that its rated 18 and I was only 16/17 at the time I think, but now 18 I was able to pick up the DVD without having to beg my mum to get it.
From what I'd seen in the trailers I assumed it was an action comedy, but I was quick to find out that it wasnt, the movie did have a lot of tung in cheek action, along with a amount of gore but it also had a amount of emotional moments and Ryan Reynolds pritty much steals the whole show, every on screen moment with him is pure magic, being able to pull off comedy, action and serious acting off in this film brilliantly.
The movie is hard to label as at the same time 3 rednecks were painting the walls red and one falling on his own chainsaw we see Ryan Reynolds holding his dying partner Ray Liotta screaming for a medic, and a femle sniper who I dont know the actor playing her is going on her rampage becuase she assumes the woman she loves Alicia Keys is dead.
Buddy "Aces" Isrial is the guy a bunch of assisins are hired to kill (cept there not becuase theres a twist to the ending that you will probably figure out 40 minuits in) I dont know the actor playing him but he was the white american guy in Rock'n'rolla I think, but he did a brillaint job, he starts out as a typical mouthy comedian who's with cards, but his live quickly turns to the *** so he gets high as hell and goes on a downer, which is acted brillaintly and you can even feel the pain in his eyes as he realises that every one as abandoned him.
Overall the movie was brialliantly acted, is got alot of well placed comedy, funny dialog, ocean 11 style introduction and action but its got a serious tone over the top. The twist in the end doesnt take a genious to figure out but still it works I'm happy to give this movie a 9/10.
Second movie I baught was becuase my friend at college as told me it was ace and a must buy, ive told him many a times that Ile get it if I see it, when I did see it, the film was in the £15 margin so I said *** dat, but today I saw it in morrisons for £5, though that I could live with so I buaght it. The movie I'm refering to is Clerks.
Okay from the beggining of this film I was a little skepticle, and becuase my friend had stated how it was I wanted to prove him wrong so I was looking for all the bad things in it, The first thing I found was that it was black and white, apparently Kevin Smith wasnt able to afford shooting in colour, but I quickly got pass that and I eventually forgot it was in Black and white.
The I noticed that a few of the same actors were used but again it was low budget so I forgve it.
Then it was a struggle to find out what was bad about this movie. It was so well acted by all the crew dispite being nobody actors, they didnt over act or try too hard to act which made things feel realistic. In fact alot of the movie felt realistic dispite the odd unlikelyness(Is that even a word) of there day.
I wont be able to write a long review about this movie becuase I dont have the mental capacity to word out everything I'm thinking of about it in my mind right now.
But well a quick summary, The actings , the scripts , characters, believeable story.
10/10.
"IrishMorn" If Adon and Sagat step in....ah, what the hell, I'll get drunk and join in on that one.

Saw a few more movies. The first is the British film, Shoot on Sight (2007), about a Muslim police officer who investigates the fatal shooting of an apparently innocent Muslim by officers in a terror investigation. Its a very interesting concept, and directly deals with widespread racism post 9/11. It's too bad that it couldn't be more of an appealing thriller...all the "twists" can be foreseen some twenty minutes into the film. That's not to say that it raises interesting points in terms of the characters and the social atmosphere. The lead actor, Naseerudin Shah portrays his character superbly. The rest of the cast is decent...Brian Cox is a little dissapointing here, and some of the other actors underplay themselves. But, as a thriller (Albeit extremely predictable) that delivers a resounding enough message, a solid 8/10.
Next up was ATL, an '06 film focusing on a group of teens trying to accomplish their dreams in Atlanta's ghetto. It's enjoyable enough, but not really all too striking: The streets of Atlanta depicted here aren't all that gritty and the stabs at comedy too forced at times. Nevertheless, the characters are likable and appealing; the actors are hit-and-miss. Rapper Tip "T.I." Harris is decent in the lead. The best performer (And a relatively interesting character) of the bunch is arguably Mykelti Williamson, but he's incredibly underused; Rapper Big Boi is fun as the neighborhood drug dealer. The bright, flashy directorial style is fresh enough to keep the film interesting visually, but it doesn't save the movie from becoming somewhat redundant and cliched...the skating subplot is a nice twist (And the scenes at the skate rink are definetely some of the most visually engaging), but it seems to simply drop out by the time the credits roll. 6/10
And then, King of New York, Christopher Walken's gangster flick. Its got a relatively cast...Walken, Laurence Fisburne, David Caruso, Victor Argo and Wesley Snipes being the main players. They all mostly turn in over-acted performances that just get redundant as the screentime drags on (Perhaps with the exception of Fishburne, who has a few nice one-liners and scenes, no matter how much he hams it up). The script is so devoid of character...no one individual really seems engage the audience on any sort of level. Its more or less a guns-blazing action flick that sacrifices character for firefights and thrills. Besides Walken and Fishburne showcasing their character's badassery, nothing seems to really hit the audience; it just feels empty. 4/10

Well I recently saw something,
I woke up pretty early yesterday and this film appeared on FX at 7 am to 9 am...Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, I knew someday I was going to watch this...and there it was...with 2 hours to kill...might as well get this over with and watch it.
Painful, just painful. The acting and the dialouge was just plain awful, some I laughed at, noticeable continuity problems like the main character's shirt at the beginning, it's dirty one scene and suddenly clean in the other...you can see some of the cables when Sub Zero is flying... the list goes on. I mean I knew this film was awful, but wow...
1/10
I'm putting Mortal Kombat: Annihilation on the #2 spot in the top ten worst films list I have ever seen...The Room by Tommy Wiseau still stands at number one.

Yet my cusin still reckons this is better then the first dispite all the errors ive pointed out and bad acting, I mean the first movie wasnt brilliant but it was atleast watchable and some of the acting wasnt bad, Kano was brillaint, and if it wasnt for the movie Kano would have still been American and not Austrailian. the first one got 6/10 which is alot for an action movie and even more concidering Pual. Wanker. Anderson did it.
I mean Annilation is that bad that its hillarious specially the Night wolf guy lol, and why swap Christphore Lamberts Raiden (Which I liked) with this guy who I dont know the name off but ive seen him in a few movies that have turned out ***.

Daninsky:
Saw the The Departed and Infernal Affairs practically back to back and much as it hurts me to say I think I prefer the American version despite the original having the better characters. I did think the whole both men loving the same woman set-up to be pointless and the dialogue was atrocious at times in Departed, but it makes more overall sense where the original plays it rather vague at times. I did prefer the characters and use of symbols in the original, a best of both would be ideal. ![Smily [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
Seen it (Departed I mean) Loved it, was going to write a review about it but never got round to doing it, loved the acting, one of only two films I can wtch with Decaprio in it without Spewing blood (the other being Gangs of Newyork), Though I think Mark Walberg and Rey Winston out acted every one on the movie, too bad they didnt get that many scenes.
The points I hate it rated at was 8/10, to put it another way, I watched it on Channel 4 then I went into town the next day and actually paid for this movie (some think that I only due if the movie is highly recomended or that I deem it worthy enough to miss out on two days worth of dinner to pay for it) thats how I thought it was.
Sorry for double post, was just flicking through the pages so I forgot about my previous one.

I guess that would kill me, too, although I found the first to be fairly entertaining for a kids movie. Liked it a lot better than Bedtime Stories. The second is, as was to expect, weaker with some of the dialogue jokes stretched out too much or not working to begin with but it does have some genuinely funny moments that made me laugh. I'm certainly not the intended audience for that movie but still it was entertaining. Takes a bit to get going, but yeah if you want something you can switch off your brain while watching then it's perfect. I think my favourite moment was the Lichtenstein picture coming to live and wiping away her tear, that had a unexpected subtleness to it. That and the old farmer couple, I guess no other picture has worked its way so firmly into pop-culture.
Overall a fair 6/10 I'd say for Night at the Museum 2.
