    High Quality Exports

I remember reading somewhere that you could alter a file or two so that your 'online' quality movies exported (and could therefore be uploaded) in high res at the cost of them using lots of memory...

I've searched but can't for the life of me find it anywhere. Is this true? and if so does anyone know how to do it?

    Cheers!
    Howie.

    Re: High Quality Exports

I did read the same thread so it DID exist, but I think it may have gotten "lost" in the forum switch I THINK mefuneakira knows how to do it but thats just based off looking at his movies as they usually seem pretty crisp.

wow howie who taught you to search!! Stick out tongue [:P]

[quote user =jassx]For the betterment of the visual quality of everyone's films who reads this - I've decided to upload an extremely small zip file - the same one that Rysto gave me (he says Pookashells gave it to him). If it is mod talk to announce to an entire community the most simplest way of improving the visual quality of their films then sue me. I'm peeing on the rule book! Because this benefits everyone - the people who make the films and those who watch them. If everyone knew about this then the visual quality of most films would be increased and casual visitors might be tempted to buy the game - so it benefits Lionhead too. This is such an amazing thing - it should be stickied for all to see. To make your films visually superior quality, be aware that your film will be at least 25% larger than it was before - take account of that when you're going low on studio space. Here are the instructions: 1) Download this zip file from this location: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DTUH8JQC 2) Take out the folder marked "video" and place it whole in your "Program Files/Lionhead Studios/The Movies/Data" folder 3) Export your film as normal in online quality - your movie will come out on TMO in High Quality instead What the new folder does is fool the system into believing that you are exporting in online quality - but you are actually exporting in High quality. There's apparently the possibility of doing Super Hi-Res, but the space we're allocated (50mb) would not last at all long in Super Res. Just a couple of minutes of footage. So High is more than an acceptable compromise. It's the holy grail for me. I've long dreamed of having control over the quality of my films and how much studio space they take up. I'm so thankful Pookashells and Rysto, and anyone else responsible for this terrific piece of work, Everyone should know about this.[/quote user =jassx]

    Interesting topic. Seems like a G o o d [Good] idea, but wouldn't a G o o d [Good] alternative these days be to upload to Norrie's site? Tongue Tied [:S]

    Re: High Quality Exports

Certain scenes in TM look pretty much unwatchable at the low level of res(specifically scenes with a  lot of motion like in a train).  When I made the last laugh for your comp raven I had a big moment/scene that was sold by a face expression on a moving train so I was happy to use Pookashells tutorial to have an acceptable version on the movies.  As badass as norries site is, sometimes you just want to have the high res available here for whatever reason.  Great tutorial pook!

This might be useful if you'd rather a custom export setting, than using the default High-res (you might find a better export setting that is a more reasonable tradeoff between space and quality for your movie, after all).

You can also put together a better High quality setting (e.g. - custom Highest quality I did  here - to really see the difference, download the source wmv and play) The applications of this quality are limited, though.

Even a page a day will get you there.

A G o o d [Good] alternative, but I'm sure the majority of people would have to agree they enjoy uploading their movies to The Movies Online more than to any other site.  I suppose mainly because it is the community site, it has a nice little review system, and your movie can be given different awards.
