Money Back from Gamestop for Glitch
Hey man if you got your game from gamestop, they should let you return it for your money. I returned mine on Thursday after it was obvious this glitch wont be fixed anytime soon. Just explain it's the game, and not your disc, and bring your hard drive to prove what your saying is true. I also told the manager to go to this forum and read for himself about this problem. If you press them, they will let you get a new game, or your money back. Hope this helps you.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
I propose once the bug is fixed, that Lionhead give those effected by this bug some kind of in-game treat. Like one million $$ or an awesome weapon or something that would normally require a tremendous effort by the player. Its a small thing to ask.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Just an FYI, it's really not that tough to restart your game. Especially if you have a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) friend, you can transfer your money across accounts and there's very little loss. It takes, what, 3 hours to get back to the Abbott? I just restarted and am now waaaay farther than I would be just sitting around in Oakfield waiting for a patch that's expected to come out on Tuesday. I mean honestly, it's not like this glitch happened 60 hours into the game. So I'd say you're better off just restarting than sitting around like a dope.

But treasures, tricks (dog especially) and so on will be lost? If this patch ever gets fixed, I will NEVER return to Oakfield

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Hello,
Yes like many people I have been abbott'ed which means that I am pretty much screwed at this point. I have spent hours and hours working and buying up properties so I don't want to restart if I don't have to. I understand that this is being worked on. Could you please answer the following:
1. Do you have any kind of ETA? Is this going to take weeks/months to get fixed? 2. If said patch is released will it fix the bug for people already effected by it or will it only prevent it from happening going forward? This really should be made clear I know that a lot of gamers are just spending time farming hobbs etc waiting for the patch so it is important that you answer this clearly.
I am not going to sit here and rail on you about this bug but I would appreciate some answers.
Regards,
Very upset, annoyed gamer.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
It isn't tough to restart the game, and I'm not just sitting around. There is however alot that would get lost when restarting the game. The experience and customization. Plus I merged my pub games character with my Hero and, made alot of money and experience without the glitch. I have reached 5 stars in smithing and woodcutting. Leveled my dog, found silver keys. I even continue to train in Oakfield and have way to much to lose, especially because I paid for the pub games. I've made my character very personalized to me. Don't generalize and think people are just whining and sitting around "like a dope".

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
I was planning on getting this game tommorow, but is there any point now? Is the glitch unavoidable and game-breaking? If not, a simple step-by-step guide to avoid the glitch would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
it's easy to avoid, when u get to the temple (where abbot is) you walk in and talk to him. I missed it because i saved my game when i started hearing the dialogue, and i turned it off because i didn't want to start a new quest and i was calling it a night. I didn't even walk into the temple...

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
So, I just need to talk to him, let him complete his dialogue, do his quest and I'll be fine? I sure hope so, because I've been wanting this game for quite a while now.

Ted:If you have already encountered this issue, there is unfortunately no work-around at this time, but we will keep you updated on any progress made.
Can we at least get a hint as to whether or not our corrupted games will be salvageable after this is fixed? If I have to start over regardless, I may as well do so now. If I can continue where I stopped, I'll wait, unless some other game steals my attention in the interim.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Erm LH this isn't an isolated issue if by that you mean it only happens with the monk, it has happened to me with reaver and its frustrating the hell out of me because i can't do anything other than expressions i can't even buy property or take out my weapon or anything, hope it gets fixed soon because I've spent so long on my character.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
I'm surprised that this was not caught during all the game testing as this is a MAIN STORYLINE QUEST.
I also have to strongly disagree that this glitch AND others are "isolated, minor" issues. They are FAR from that and now it is quite obvious it is spilling out further than just the Abbot/The Ritual glitch.
I got trapped by The Ritual glitch and my brother who also has the game recently got trapped in the Bloodstone glitch...obviously with a game of this scope, things will get by...so to rectify that Lionhead SHOULD HAVE devoted more time to looking for these bugs. Obviously now is their chance to correct the matter...I don't know how it works in the gaming business, but I would recall as many testers/programmers as possible and go through the entire game to correct it.
I know Peter Molyneux has a habit of making promises he can't keep, but what is it making a game that your customers can't even COMPLETE?
I love the game,I was very excited for it and I still am once I can play it again, but it is very sad that it came to this. I devoted many hours of doing sidequests and goofing around in the game like it was meant to be...and I'm not restarting that all again.
I believe the community has to be VERY vocal about this to Lionhead, Microsoft and the Gaming Public, I am all for quality games and I know it is now the "norm" to delay game release deadlines to ensure a quality product...which in terms of glitches/bugs...Fable 2 is NOT a quality product. I would've been happy waiting an extra month or two if that was what Lionhead needed to go over the game some more...and hopefully with Fable 3 that is what they might do. But it is also very disappointing having waited so long to have had an experience like this HALTED because of these errors.
I believe that Fable 2 will suffer from some sluggish sales because of this. Word is getting around and I hope the Lionhead staff is HARD AT WORK correcting this glitch AS WELL AS ALL OTHERS. I appreciate all their hard work making the game, now I will once again appreciate their hard work FIXING the game. But as a customer, satisfaction is MY priority as it should be Lionhead's to make sure its customers are satisfied...and as such...my experience was satisfying until now.
I know some people have gotten through the game with little-to-no glitches... for you all and it's very easy for you to try and criticize us who are trapped by these bugs. Don't get us wrong though, we're mad and angry and complaining because we WANT the game to work...we WANT to continue playing...we WANT to finish the game...but it is a very disheartening experience when you are just TRAPPED IN LIMBO and can't move forward. We COMPLAIN BECAUSE WE CARE. Everyone is just going to voice that differently.
Please Lionhead, fix this glitch and all others as soon you as can...but don't stop there, keep diving through the game to insure that all future issues can be addressed and corrected before they even happen. That way a quality and bug-free experience can be insured for all.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Not isolated, not minor, and definitely not a minority of people experiencing this. I can't believe such a huge console moving game would have such a MAJOR glitch. Could have been a game of the year contender but not if people can't play it. I too did not even enter the temple to talk to the abbot. Have maxed out wood cutting and black smithing for nothing. I don't think this will be fixed very soon, at least a month, so start new characters. You can have up to 6 on one acount

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
*press refresh again* No update from Lionhead staff. *press refresh again* Still no update. I honestly think this glitch is a 'wontfix' issue. You guys should check out the reddit forums, this game is getting skull f***ed. The sole reason I purchased a 360 was for this game. Microsoft is going to murder someone over this. There is no possible way this issue 'slipped' through testing. I refuse to start again after the time I have invested into my current character, why should I, or any gamer for that matter have to start a game all over again for awful development?
This game had huge expectations to live up to, and it has fallen flat on it's face, for the sole reason of this and other bugs.
Please give the community some sort of update on whether or not this bug can be patched.
Cheers,
Extremely pissed off Rob.
PS. Fail.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Basically i am well aware of abbot glitch before/at the beginning of the ritual quest, but mine is further on then that.
I have gone all the way through the dungeon with hannah, and im in the final room, where she says the chant and the gates opens to let robin in.
This is where it glitches, robin comes in and just pants, doesn't say anything, just pants, but, the thing is i can move around on the plate, i can pause, its not alot but it something.
Just wondered if anyone else has had this, or if the patch that lionhead are releasing on the 28th (apparantly) will fix this issue.
Any info would be great, cheers dudes.
Really i need to know if this a problem with the disc, as i ordered it online and i only have so long before i can't do anything about it ![Sad [:(]](/emoticons/emotion-6.gif)

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
In regards to the Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot glitch in Oakfield. Last night, I finished talking to the abbot and i then followed the breadcrumb trail to the Inn and to the guy up the stairs. I then saved at that point and stopped playing.
This morning i first found out about this glitch. As i finished talking to the abbot, does this mean i did'nt get the glitch. Or is there another time you have to talk to him?

Ok could we please get an update here. I paid ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) money for this game and would appreciate some kind of response. Its a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) game and would hate to see it get carpet bombed on amazon due to horrible game breaking bugs... again I will repeat my post: Yes like many people I have been abbott'ed which means

I too have experienced this glitch and would also not like to have to start over. An estimate of when a solution will be provided would be wonderful. Please see that this affects much more than a minority of people. Thank you.

Why the hell would anyone want that? I propose they just fix the issue and let us continue with the game. Who is to say that you won't experience the bug if you restart? I agree with some of the issues that although the game is fun, I'm not about to spend another week building the economy, my purse and abilities after the 3rd game related issue, however minor the first 2 might have been. I don't know who to blame with the initial Collector's Edition release issue, and I don't care, but then I was unfortunately one of the customers who failed to get the extra equipment and dungeon with the purchase of my Collector's Edition and now this!? ![Dead [:notalive:]](/emoticons/dead.gif) I'm not irate, just frustrated that I am trying to enjoy this pretty awesome game, but now I can't because one of 'those things' that slipped through the cracks just happens to be one of 'those things' that allows me to continue the game. I can't even quick travel back to Bowerstone to purchase ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) s for the homes in Oakfield, not to mention that stupid Demon Door didn't open after I proposed to TWO people in front of it! I'll keep waiting for the patch, not like I can do anything else except wait, and play Fallout 3.
