I don't usually post so forgive me if it's not in the correct format. In regards to the freezing issue,  my copy of the game also was freezing and so I took it back to the store for another copy. That too would continue to freeze until I found a possible solution. I noticed that it would freeze every time someone in my friends list would log on with the Fable game. So i went into the settings and turned off all Orbs and so far after multiple hours of game play, it hasnt locked up since. I hope this may help some of you with this issue.

I've had terrible freezing issues too. Never known it in a console game, nor even in a pc game this bad. Something is up and it is infuriating that people are not being officially warned not to play the game and potentially mess-up their hardware,till a patch is released.

Found it in the blog section. Patch expected mid-December apparently, whether it fixes all the probs people are having we will have to wait and see...

 

mine also does this when i load, it loads the whole thing so i got the loading screen then when it goes it just goes black and freezes. so i went to game to get a new one came home with a smile on my face to find that it did the same exact thing so you could try it. but it didn't work for me.

Mine is freezing in the same place!  I bought mine on ebay from hong kong, yet its still in english and i made it this far in the game with no issues. Do u think they will help me at a store?  Did you have any success getting farther?

I am sorry but I doubt that you will get support for a game bought off e-bay since it is a technically "used" game bought by an auction, even if it was brand new it did not come from a department store with a receipt, better news for you though if you will read.

Anyway I bought the game as soon as it came out and after 30 mins it locked up i kept restarting and trying to play but it kept happening more and more frequenty untill my system locked up completely and wouldnt even load to the dash board so I figured it was my system and I bought a new one a couple weeks ago and tried to play the game again and the same thing is happening more and more frequently so now Im affraid to put the disk in for fear that it will screw up my xbox system.  Im an engineer and I know that they had to be aware of this issue b4 they sent out the game, a bug is one thing but this is bs.  Im am going to fins out if the game crashed my old xbox and if it did you will be hearing about it, it seems like it has an issue with using up all the system resources wich is a programming error, happen with computer software all the time so get a pot of cofee and go over all your code.

FYI.  I installed the game on my hard drive after constant freezing and have had no issues since.  I know we shouldn't have to do that but if we want to play for the time being, I guess it has to be done.

I had the same problem mine kept freezing after playing the game 15mins and then every time i loaded the game or my dashboard, This was the first game i had played on my xbox having receved a brand new 08 xbox off microsoft because i had 3 flashing red lights, It also froze after 5mins playing COD5, I had to send it off to the repair centre again so i dont no if it was fable 2 that messed up my xbox or just a faulty machine but it was a brand new one,

I stared a new game because there was still some points to unlock. I did the update and now after the first cut sceane it freezes. It sucks because It is a game. I heard they wont update to mid-dec. Who could wait that long to play the game.

I know I'm a little late to this but I've just picked up the game and not more than thirty minutes in and the game froze up.  I had to start the game over twice now and have just resorted to saving every five minutes to get thorugh the game.  I'm pretty upset but I guess I'll just have to wait till the patch...

On other note, this game looks amazing.  If this was a lesser game I would have just taken it back to the store and given up. 

I feel your pain. I purchased fable 2 yesterday. within 15 minute of play, it froze my xbox 360. I just got it back from the 3RROD repair, so I thought it might be that at first. but after playing 10 different games in it, I put fable back in. It froze within 5 minutes. So this morning, I go back to where I purchased the game. They told me I could exchange it, but not refund, so with hope in my heart and a new fable in my hand I went home and placed it into my xbox. SUCCESS!! it played further than I had gotton before!! whoops!! spoke to soon, the game froze and now does the same thing as before. Now I am on hold going on 22 minutes with microsoft and have typed this whole message while listening to hindi techno, which is in no way comforting. The lady that spoke broken english said something about not being able to refund me the money spent, but would glady send me another disk that has no known improvements made what so ever..... SWEET!! ofcourse I have been on hold for 15 minutes so the call should be dropped soon. microsoft is making it so hard to like their products... and lions head can kiss my new nintendo looking avatar's butt... thanks for the fine products.... really... I mean it...

great news!! still on the phone with microsoft going on 45 minutes!! the game is not on their "replacement disk" list... so now I might not get a third copy that freezes my xbox like the first one.... YES YES YES!! I love getting screwed over... its so sweet!!

one hour 7 minutes later!! and the generous people at microsoft will send me a new disc, just as soon as they get my faulty one!! yes!!!! wait for it..... wait....for....it... there are no known changes to the disc comming that will make it any different than the one I have now, or exchanged this morning... I bet they send me back the same disc....lol... wtf ever.... by the way, I have an elite if that helps anyone, and please contact me if a class action lawsuit comes about.... I would love to be in on it. luck everyone...late..

Brand new Xbox Elite top spec and everythin, playes any game, put Fable 2 in and the thing worked perfectly then got an update for my dashboard with the new look and the avatars an stuff, now the damn thing freezes every 10 minutes or so is that update anything to do with it or what? why won't Lionhead respond to these queries on their own community? they must know there is an issue as it now has its own spot on wiki!!!!

A new disc will not solve your problems! I thought it was disc to and i got eb games to exchange the dics for me. Get it home and it it still freeze's. So whe i exchanged it the salesman tells me that it could be a corrupted install. I told him i didnt install game directly to harddrive. He claims that when you start a new game on fable via disc it saves files to your harddrive in order for game to function. So basically if it still freezes with new disc i should erase games and start over. Liar still freezes and i lost my progress i could kill. Well my own fault for listening to such a stupid suggestion i was pretty sure it didnt save files to your hard disc anyways new disc does not solve problem. Come on lionhead dont let us down been waiting for this sequal too dam long!!!!!!!!

1st of all this isnt a hard problem to fix. first try clearing the cache, this is found in ur hard drive. after you click on memory under seting dont go any farther, you should be at a screen that is grey dont do anything after selecting memory though. then press x, x, left bumper, right bumper, x, x, then select yes this dosent delete anything it only gets rid of updates.the next time you play fable dont do the update and paly. if the problem continues then down load the game to your had drive, when you start your xbox 360 insert fable2 then go up one folder to my xbox insted of pressing A to start the game press Y and then select download. it dosent say down load right at the main screen so u have to play around i think it is the 2nd choice though...I hope this helps luck and have fun on fable 2.

I appreciate your effort Zesty as im sure we all do but alas your method does not work either! I got the game when it first come out and it was fine for few weeks. Me and my gal both had quests. Out of the blue it started freezing up on my girlfreinds quest. Read my old post and youll know i when out and exchanged disc and did not help. My best advice is if its not freezing terribly bad just  try and live with it until a real fix comes out. For example i exchanged disc cleared cache even went as far as deleteing saved games to be sure there was no corruption and all failed. Now i cant even get past the first scene with the music box it freezes every time! Im so choked i was fairly far as well as my girlfreind and now we cant even play it ive tried to start over 4 times now and it freezes. I should have left it alone and dealt with the few freezes now i lost my progress and i cant even start over god some one from lion head release a valid patch please. Thanks again everyone for trying to reslove this issue.

did you try downloading the game to your hard drive decaydworld???

Not yet zesty i tried but alas another microsoft problem mabey someone can elaborate for me. I have only 1.4 gigs used up on my harddrive i bought the pro bundle with the 20 gig harddrive. Now i understand that right of the bat it snags like 8 gigs for system mumbo jumbo, which leaves me 12 gigs. Ok saying that i only have 1.4 gigs used up and its telling me i only have 4.3 available and  even if i clear off every game save it will just give me the 6 gigs i need to rip fable to my drive WTF! I should have 10.6 gigs left i have been through every option deleted tonnes of vids and demos actually all of i dunno it sux!! Nice from bc to eh zesty were on vancouver island Cheers!!

Dear Lionhead & The Fable 2 Community,

I've recently bought my new X Box 360 (The arcade version)

and along with it, I purchased Fable 2. All seemed fine during gameplay, until all of a sudden, Fable 2 froze

Ok i thought to myself, i'll just re-set the console and begin playing. No.., After an hour at tops, it froze again, and began and still is, freezing to this very moment. I keep loosing all unsaved data and it's peeving me off!

Lionhead, Please, Please fix this problem. I'm eager to play fable withought any disruptions...

 

(NOTE - I actually thought it was my xbox 360, and the fact that i only have a memory unit (card) i figured the memory card just couldn't handle fable 2's awesome graphics!

I was wrong, for i tried my other games (all worked successfully) and even called the X Box 360 customer support line. Undertook what (It - Computer) told me to do, and still, it freezes.

 

Please Lionhead, Please fix this.

After a lot of research it seems that the new xbox experience may be to blame for all of the freezing. I didnt have one lock up until the new xbox dashboard and through out the net others seem to have experienced this after the new update!
Last night i had farcry to freeze on me as well man this sux i dont know what to think but i think lionhead should at least acknowledge these issues or xbox if its on there end theres so many of us with this problem and no one owning up to it.
I cant even make it pass the first cut scene in fable 2 now!!!!!!!!

i think your on to something.  The day after i downloaded the nxe my freggin elite rrod while playing fable.  never even froze before the nxe download.  then i sent it off to be repaired came back and it reads my fable disc as unreadable (it plays every other game just fine so far).  Then i go rent one hoping its just the disc, well it plays the brand new rental disc it just freezes every five minutes.  sometimes my dog is just a shadow bandits can be invisible.  The funny thing is about half the time it freezes trees still move in the breeze and i can still back out to the dashboard, the other half it locks up the whole system.  I am really close to getting a ps, the games may not be as cool but dambit they don't have to deal with this freggin crap

i found if u install the game to your hdd then it fixes the problem i have a freeze every 10-30 mins after installing it to hdd had no freezing at all hope it helps
