Not so often anymore. The main purpose of this thread was never to deal with problems, but to collect problems for a later patch I think. If you have a specific problem you are better off making an own topic, but I think I told you already what the problem is. Wink [;)]

I sort of figured that. Thought it was worth a try. Well, at least my issue is (hopefully) on record now, and maybe they can figure out a patch. I'm sure I'll get a new card (for my brand new computer) before that happens ;-) I still find it hard to believe nobody else with the Intel chipset has had this problem. And I find it hard to believe they have the nerve to say on one of the start-up screens that this game was designed for the Intel Express chipset. Obviously, it was not very well designed for it.

You still missunderstand the situation. Even though the chipset you have is supported, it was never designed from Intel to run games like B&W2. This chipset is a basic solution for cheap office PC's, not designed to run games in the first place. Also the game was not designed to specially run on the Intel express chipset, but sponsored and optimized to run on Intel Pentium processors which is a huge difference. Intel processors can also run on none Intel chipsets, like nForce chipsets from NVIDIA. The preferred graphic card for the game is a separate solution from AMD/ATI if you believe the sponsoring advertisement on startup. Wink [;)] Good [Good] luck for the future with your new PC. Remember to buy a decent graphic card this time. Something about 130 US$ should at least offer some reserves for the future, otherwise you may not be able to play games a year later then, just like now. Consider PC gaming is something expensive and fast changing technology. If you want something more reliable, that holds its performance level more then 3 years, and is cheaper too you are forced to buy a console.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

Yes, I suppose what I've misunderstood is what "support" means. They did not necessarily design the game to run on my board, it just happens to run by chance at an intermediate level. If they did, indeed, design it to run, they didn't do a very good job of it. With all of the graphics and effects in this game, you wouldn't think a text bubble should be that difficult. But then, I'm not a programmer, so what do I know. Take care, and thanks again for all your advice.... and patience.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

*Name of Bug: Tribute Crash *Possible cause: Corrupted Game File? Glitch? *Type of bug: Not sure. *Your System specs: - Don't think it's related to sound or video. Not really computer-fluent enough to look everything up easily, so, will provide on request if instructed on how to find everything. *What the bug is doing: The tribute menu worked fine (although my game frequently crashes, but being that I'm on a laptop, that isn't extremely surprising to me). However, at a certain point in the Norseland, the tribute menu became inoperable. Whenever I try to open the menu, the game freezes, and then eventually goes black, usually forcing me to restart my computer. Occasionally, the game just crashes to desktop. But it is impossible to open the Tribute Menu. I thought it might only be a problem in the Norseland, so I played on through to Japan, but the same holds true, and I think that from that point on, not being able to purchase miracles, new buildings, or teach my creature master skills will be crippling. I have not tried uninstalling/reinstalling yet, so it may just be a problem with my own files, though I don't know what would have corrupted them, unless it was a previous crash of the game. I have seen a similar bug reported elsewhere, so perhaps this is an issue that could be addressed in a patch? I hope so! <> For the record, EA tech support is abysmal. When I wrote my problem to them, they gave me the standard reply that the game might not work on a laptop, because it hasn't been tested on laptops, and that it was probably the fault of my graphics driver. When I pointed out that it was very likely nonsense that one particular menu would cause a crash due to graphics, they agreed and told me that I probably have a corrupted file, and gave me a list of things to do to fix it, which should only be attempted by a computer professional. I am not a computer professional, so where does that leave me? <> Anyway, I love this game, and I don't want to have to return it, especially because I want to support the series! Please help! Thanks very much.

I've seen this problem before, but I've yet to see some sort of solution for it. Name of Bug: Toolbar Death Bug Possible cause: Satan Type of bug: I wish I knew Your System specs: Windows XP NVidia GeForce FX Go5600 RAM 512 MB Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz Graphics settings: low What the bug is doing: Game play is smooth until I click the tribute button and then the game crashes taking the whole machine with it. It's inconsistent because at times it works. I've read here that EA doesn't consider this a bug but I believe I meet at least the minimum specification for this game. If I don't, I'd like someone to say so and I'll give up. I may give up anyway.
Just to make the gathering of information convenient, this is the same problem I had.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

Nothing technical as such... (sorry those tech hungry chaps/esses out there!) Simply i have had the game for frickin' ages, but have been unable to play it! Two friends have borrowed it and completed it, and only recently have I been able to install it and play with me mam's new laptop. 'Tis awesome, graphics on Le Full all the way! But then i was saddened, 'cos simply i am destined to never play the game... The tutorial level is looking sooo sweet, but i can't do anything when it asks me to turn the camera round, using the centre mouse button - i don't have one! The Z and X keys (alternatives, so the 'input' section of the options tells me) do diddly squat. Help is needed, or i might go more insane than i already am! Cheers in advance, That Askey Chap.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

Name of Bug: Introduction video crashes video card drivers Possible cause: Faulty windows update? Type of bug: game play Your System specs: ATI RADEON 9550 256MB AGP AMD athlonXP 3000+ 2.16 Ghz 2gb of ram DDR whatever the newest directx is OK, I may be asking this in the wrong place, or it's a topic that's already been covered but I simply overlooked it in the massive amount of questions and replies but here it goes; I've installed the game. I have a ATI Radeon AGP 256MB DDR 9550. I go to play the game and when I start the new game, it goes to play the introduction video, the screen goes black, yet I still here the audio. I will try force escape and then the screen goes crazy, and unles I manually force restart the machine, it will sometimes just do so itself. I guess what's happening is the driver for the video card is failing and force quiting. I mentioned this to a buddy of mine and he said when he played black and white a while back, he ran into this same exact problem, checked the forums here, and found that it was a Windows Critical Update that was messing with the game, and all you needed to do was uninstall this one specific update. Does that fix sound about right? And if it does; what critical update do you have to find and uninstall?

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

    McShameless:

Seriously.... this happened to me too right after completing the blacksmid level 5, the game froze... I was actually afraid it didn't save and I had to do the whole blacksmit level 5 again... well, after restarting the 360, I was actually relieved to see the last achievement I got right after completing the blacksmid lvl 5 sidequest, cuz that meant it did save! so I started getting my hopes up...  too damn soon I guess: black screen of death as a result..... the crazu thing is, it actually says "verifying savegame" before loading it... wtf is that for exception handling? What are you verifying then??? And why the hell do you commit saved data before verifying, since you're continiously overwriting my saved game....

This totally sucks and ruins the *** out of the game for me... when we as customers choose to pay €60,- for this game, we expect some quality.... this software just didn't have the proper testing when so many of us report so many bugs... If I would've been invited for a beta test and this happened, well, it would've been a beta, so *** happens, right? probably under pressure of a on time release, this game clearly wasn't properly tested.... next time, rather reset your deadline and deliver some quality for us customers paying cold hard cash for a game that looks like a beautiful brand new Ferrari, costs the price of a beautiful new Ferrari, is sold as a bautiful new Ferrari but that lacks the Ferrari engine... instead of that, Fiat (which owns Ferrari) decided to put a Fiat Panda engine in it.... tell me Lionhead, how you'd feel when you hit the road outside of the dealership and you feel that the engine sucks.... you feel betrayed, hustled and owned....

This is a bloody final release!!!!!!!! An optical glitch, yeah, can live with that, a bug that actually ends your game for you, totally unacceptable..... I never had this kinda bug with ANY (I repeat ANY) game I EVER played.... and I've been playing a lot of games ( a lot, I'm kinda a freak) for over 20 years.... and I already see it coming, you guys will probably fix this bug ( I hope so, otherwise the disk will be a worthless piece of 60 euro plastic), but my savegame will remain corrupted data and I have to start over again... let me put it in a different way: IF you'll manage to provide a fix, within a short period of time that is ofcourse, that prevents this bug from happening and also makes my savegame work again (as it does pass the verification stage-hoping your verification method does work, but some wrongly handled params in your loading method cause the problems), you'd really positively surprise me.... seeing is believing  and I want to believe Smily [:)]

p.s. Might be me, but I haven't seen the mods actually constructively replying on this specific issue, which should've been a showstopper in the first place...

    I quoted this from http://community.lionhead.com/forums/thread/3170634.aspx

Please fix this with high prio.
