    Could you be more specific, are you looking for game creation software like RPG Maker or development software like Visual Studio?

    Visual Studio for C++ and SciTE for Lua (scripting language). Of course it depends on the platform and what facilities the platform provides or is compatible with. For PC development, Visual Studio and SciTE are a great place to start.

    Truespace is now a free 3D modeler available for download. Grab that while it's still available -- it might not be available for download in a few weeks (after October 1009). Blender is another free option.

    I'll add some more tools soon. Having the right tools is so important!

    Okay. Since LionHead isn't sharing their Lua ide, Big Smile [:D], SciTE also has a debugger and auto-complete.
