Qeustionaires and Surveys... what's the difference.

Little question for you all, I've got some course work that needs doing and so far it's going G o o d [Good] until I've just hit this speed bump. The course work is about Research methods both primary and secondary I've been going down the list of research methods and I've just finished explaining Questionnaires and now just below is Surveys, I have to explain what a survey is so I've been researching and and well there seems to be no difference between Surveys and Questionnaires. I've looked over the internet to find out what the difference is but no luck, I've been at this for about an hour and I'm clueless so I'm just wandering if anyone here has any idea what the difference is because I just don't have a clue.

ermm tricky one that. Surveys I'd say are more in depth and something you get people to fill out. Questionnaires more as something you go up to people and ask them about.

Thats how I see it. Nervous [:nervous:]

Well, a questionnaire is a tool used in surveys (or more accurately they are a type of survey). The survey is the process of collecting information, whilst the questionnaire is the actual set of questions. A survey may include documenting information via telephone calls etc rather than just a questionnaire.

The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Thank'yee Del that helps, the two are so similar it's just confusing. I hate this assignment I doubt it's going to be distinction status... let's just hope for merit.
