Titles, Get your generic titles here!

Non generic sounding ones this time please Hmm [^o)]

I stuck with "Sparrow" all throughout Fable 2 because it sounded like an actual name rather than just an adjective.

I suggest a two part system, choose your name AND a title. It's "Captain Jack Sparrow", not just "Captain". See how that works? I mean if a racing game can say your name (See GRID) then certainly an rpg can.

Oh, the ring is just very sentimental. I could never part with- did you say $500? Well I need the cash...

Re: Titles, Get your generic titles here!

Ever play Stronghold 2?  They had a program where you could type in your name and what do you know, it was able to be pronounced!  I'd really wish they could do that with Fable 3.

That or just give us a lot more options, and less silly ones.  Walking around being called Lionheart got SO old last time.  How about maybe just giving us things that could go before our nickname.  Example:

    Sir Lionheart
    Sir Dragonheart

But make them so they fit with each other.  Somehow, Sir Chicken Chaser just sounds stupid.  But you get the idea?

Re: Titles, Get your generic titles here!

I believe the title system should be seperated from your name and completely based on your actions. Under the current system, each time you buy a title, people will start using the phrases they've programmed in for your title. My suggestion is that you earn titles and people start using those phrases, and they don't go away with more titles being earned unlocking new things for villagers to talk about. You don't buy new titles, people just talk about you based on your actions. It'd feel more like you were creating a history for yourself rather than just buying a set of new phrases.

There will only be four Hero Titles in Fable 3.  They are as follows:
    • G o o d [Good]
    • E v i l [Evil]
    • Fat
    • Silly
No, those aren't categories.  Those are the actual titles.  But if you buy the Limited Edition, you also get "Fanboy"!

Re: Titles, Get your generic titles here!

You could have titles such as

    Sir Richard

    or

    Lady rebecca

Because when you say hi to a sir or lady you don't need to say there name i.e.

    "g'morning sir"

    I would love that!

    My female characters would be:
    Countess Ophelia
    Baroness Ravena

My male character (me) would be:
    Duke Adrian
I'm not sure tho... I don't like playing as a male for some reason...
Really don't know why, to be honest.

Re: Titles, Get your generic titles here!

I'd like it to have a lot real names. During my first play through in games like Fable, I try to play as "myself", so I'd rather NPCs called my character by my real name.
Nicknames could be automatically assigned to you based on your actions like someone mentioned above.

I think starting with a real name and gaining a nickname later would be G o o d [Good].
This is so unlikely to ever happen but I like the idea of having the nickname become your family name eventually. (e.g. I'd start as Andrew, become Andrew "The Blackadder" and end up as Andrew Blackadder and my wife would be Daisy Blackadder or maybe drop part of a nickname if it became a family name.)

if you've ever seen the Milo demo then you may or may not have noticed the way Milo can say the woman's name. Maybe lion head have managed to develop a way characters can say any name.
