Re: Black & White 2: Of Gods and Mortals - Unofficial Expansion Pack
Quoting: Daxter_06Well it doesn't have to be the best in terms of graphics, just the most well put together map will do it. All winner landscapes will be morphed graphically by myself, so there's no need to worry aobut that.
As an add to this the theme of landscape may be onl from this selection:
- Desert
- Grassland
- Tropical Island
- Snowy
- Rocky
- Other types that you an think of
Order if you don' think you can do this then can help me judge the entrants.
If you interested just reply. That's all for now.

I'll answer that... nope, sorry. At best they could include a lion, wolf, etc with a different colour of skin or longer fur, but that's it. Modding of creature meshes is, currently, impossible. Well, not impossible, but it's possible in the way throwing a baskeball is in any random direction at any random speed and it landing straight in a hoop a quarter of a mile away is possible.

Re: Black & White 2: Of Gods and Mortals - Unofficial Expansion Pack
i like beach and tropical island with small to medium sized towns myself.
i don'y like the snowy landscapes, they take up processing power and make my FPS drop.

Actually it's not impossible and soon will be possible with a .bwm converter, and since the dragon can be created in 3ds Max which I now have, then once the converter works and everything that is hoped for it is there then the dragon will become one of those that will be added to the game.
On another note I have begun work on a new Landscape Editor (Landscape Editor 2.0) and so far all works, the only thing left is the DirectX or D3D that the game uses to load the landscapes and it should be ready.
Some new things in the landscape Editor include:
-Ability of adding models to the editor which then can be placed like the others.
-The exporter/converter for the .bwm models will be included and automically activate once you try to add a file that is not .bwm format and a file format that can be converted.
- A few things to make the editor much more user-friendly.
- A model explorer that will allow the user to access and view entire frameworks of models created by players and Lionhead.
Much more is included but I don't wish to go any further into this atm.
Well that is all for now.

Re: Black & White 2: Of Gods and Mortals - Unofficial Expansion Pack
Quoting: OrderOfDarknessin which language are u working on the landscape enditor? c++? i do not really know much about these things, but i just want to know^^
The Landscape Editor is being programmed in C++ using DirectX9's SDK(Software Development Kit) that will be used to generate the code needed to successfully run Black & White 2's Direct3D engine and all the necessary parts. Once I have done the Direct3D(which will take me ages), the necessary "new", "open", "save", "Open Landscape" and "Save Landscape" buttons and the models section of the editor is also done then you guys in the community can take it for a test run.
I have given the name "Black & White 2: Threat of the Creed - Landscape Editor" to the editor which hence will become part of the download of ToTC's release(not coming nor next but next release after that, in other words after three more releases).
But doing the Direct3D is much more hard than I thought. I'll just list some of the things that will be involved:
- Mipmapping - produces the grid
- Lighting - basically for the sun
- vs/ps 1.1 - pixel shader support
- Auto detecting user 3D cards - the better they the better the visual side of the editor
- shadow volume - Shadows and other stuff
- Rendering - basically rendering all the models in there
- Setting up the paths for each thing included in the editor(I may add an extension that will allow the placing of BoTG objects(but this may not work well with the original B&W2 game))
- Materials - DDS files in the Textures folder that will be placed onto the models
- Point sprites and view matrix - used to move pointly (XYZ) around the map
Plus much more
So far I've managed to initialize the Direct3D system plus done the other toolbar options and menu popups, so bear with me its hard but no so hard.
That's all for now and remember to look out for a test drive.
Daxter
EDIT: Oh yeah Undead--God, I'm not getting my hopes up either so yes at this time there is "currently" no way.

No doubt you are talking about the game and not the Altar so here's a list of buildings coming soon.
- A new type of Wall connector(e.g. Ballista tower, Miracle tower)
- Shipyard
- A new Temple
- Different types of housing
- Water Units
- Flying Units maybe
- A NEW storehouse to accompany a fourth resource in which I won't say yet
- Different Fields(Wheat, Rice, Berries etc.)
- Bridges
- Building Skin changer(A building where the player can put their blueprints of buildings into to change skin before placing)
Plus heaps more.

What miracles are you putting on there???
Food and wood and ore I hope?

Re: Black & White 2: Of Gods and Mortals - Unofficial Expansion Pack
miracles for those would make the game far too easy. plus wood and food can already be "created" by using the water miracle on crops and forests
and you can alwasy use your creature to steal ore from other towns just send him to town, tell him to pick up ore from their store house, let go of the leash, wait until he has picked up the ore, then click on him and he will put the ore in your hand, put it in your storehouse
and grab the leach, tell him to pick up some more ore and repeat the process.
this will save you the time you would wate making the creature run backwards and fowards from town to town.

Re: Black & White 2: Of Gods and Mortals - Unofficial Expansion Pack
Will this also have the life miracle, Daxter? Or is that not allowed or you can;t for whatever reason?
Because, if it is to be in it, will we be able to use it to replenish the other new resource, like we can with wood, food and ore?

Re: Black & White 2: Of Gods and Mortals - Unofficial Expansion Pack
Could you make it so you can upgrade your powers with gold? And if you can,can you make it so when powers are maxed out, miracles like fire would turn into lava and water into tsunamis?

Well let's see starting from the centre of the Altar to up then out:
- Fire
- Meteor
- Air/Shield
- Lightning
- Heal
- Water
- Lava
- Life
- Decay
- Death
- Megablast(Originally a Creed Power)
- Lightning Bolt(Originally a Creed Power)
- Ore
- Food
- Wood
- ???? (The secret resource being added to the game)
 Quoting: Brutus_
miracles for those would make the game far too easy. plus wood and food can already be "created" by using the water miracle on crops and forests

and grab the leach, tell him to pick up some more ore and repeat the process.
this will save you the time you would wate making the creature run backwards and fowards from town to town.
Oh but the resource miracles would only be usable when their absolutely needed like for instance if their is no ore around you (ore rocks or the mine) that is near your town then this miracle would give off an aura signaling its use available.
 Quoting: Undead---God
Will this also have the life miracle, Daxter? Or is that not allowed or you can;t for whatever reason?
Because, if it is to be in it, will we be able to use it to replenish the other new resource, like we can with wood, food and ore?
I've answered that question with the first reply. So yes there will be the life miracle on the Altar but the life miracle has nothing to do with replenishing any of the resources that's what the resources are for since they don't cost any mana.
But let me ask you this, what do you think this new resource is?
 Quoting: thebeast528
Could you make it so you can upgrade your powers with gold? And if you can,can you make it so when powers are maxed out, miracles like fire would turn into lava and water into tsunamis?
Well gold would not be the answer but at some stage in the game when you do something the miracle would simply upgrade itself (could be the number of times it has been used, or research of it or perhaps combining it will give it a permanent upgrade) but of course you could still use the original miracle.
Besides things like tsunamis are out of reach in Black & White 2's limits. There's simply no scripting statements that will raise the ocean level or even use it to throw across the land.
Well I do hope that I have answered your questions in the best possible way that I can. So with one last thing I set a challenge to anyone who can guess what the new resource will be, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Well that's all for now.
Daxter
