Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

yeah i can't even begin to think what the 3rd feature is gonna be, lol. definately not online play though, because, like whoever said, it's too predictable. and not only that, it's such a detailed RPG, online play, to me anyways, wouldn't be oh so very important.

and they already mentioned stuff about how towns can eventually develop, or they can just become abandoned, depending on how you interract with it, so that isn't it.

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

I think alot of you members that think it is deffinitely not going to be a certain thing will be surprised.

    Edit:
    sCM redruM:

Actually two, but I know what you mean...

Anyways, 17 days and counting...Can't wait...I hope G4 does a whole segment on it, so I can watch the demonstration live...

I just took another look at it and my guess is you are counting it as two different features which I guess technically they are but I just meant it as the one feature which encompasses both.

I'm sure the newer members are reading these posts and thinking WTF are they talking about?! Laugh []

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

Mulitplayer was always part of the original vision of Fable. It was only pulled out at the last second (extremely close to its release date) because PM didn't think it was G o o d [Good] enough. Maybe instead of telling people to play another game you should know what features Fable has always intended to have.

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

Or you can stop thinking you know everything about the game. Fable didn't have multiplayer. It's that simple. Despite it's reasons for not being there, it wasn't there. You say PM didn't think it was G o o d [Good] enough, so obviously...it wasn't G o o d [Good] enough. Some online features would be cool if you're into that kind of stuff. But I don't see how they're gonna be able to tie that into the actual game and pull it off.

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

    Rolleyes []
I would never say I know everything about the game. It seems I know more then you though. Fable was supposed to have four player co op. They originally intended for players to be able to import their friend heroes via a memory card. They ran into problems with the hardware and changed it to where the other players would be orbs. Towards the very end of the development cycle Pm changed his mind and didn't like the orb idea anymore and pulled it. He has consistently stated how much he regretted not having multiplayer in the first game and how much he loves the idea of playing with friends and the potential of Xbox Live.

    xmattyx:
But I don't see how they're gonna be able to tie that into the actual game and pull it off.
Now this is a valid argument and one many other people could agree with including myself. Anyone who has heard the Mike west interview will understand the problems involved with multiplayer.

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

yeah you do know more about the game than me. i simply play it and enjoy it. that's what it's for ^^ but that whole co-op thing seemed really cool though, and now that i think about it, that'd be awesome if they could find a way to tie it in somehow. i read that they were tryin to get an online tournament thing though.

    that'd be somthin :]

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

If fable 2 is gonna have 4 player co op, its gonna need to be a lot harder than the original.
    Which is a G o o d [Good] thing, #1 was way too easy.

Im hoping mystery #3 will be magic related

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

There wouldn't be anything revolutionary enough with magic as the Third feature. I really think it'll have something to do the world of Albion.
"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property...Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them." (Thomas Paine, Thoughts On Defensive War, 1775)

Re: Are we going to see actual complete gameplay at GDC

My guess is that they will make another edition to the emotion mechanic, as this seems to be a governing tool for fable 2 at the moment.

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

mwahhaha My thread will live on FOREVER!!! Angry [:@] or at least until GDC Sad [:(]

All kidding aside though this brings something to mind. Anyone who has been around long enough will remember my "gifts" thread. Basically I put a bunch of videos, audio interviews, and written articles into one thread so that they can all be discussed in one place and we wouldn't get a flood of threads discussing  the same topics. If I have time I may do the same thing once PM has given his talk at GDC. My question is if I do it agian would you members like me to open a new gifts thread or just post them in this one?

    Thank you Ralph H. Baer

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

if you do porta, a new one please, coz people might not check this thread and maybe missing out, plus it'll be easier to find ifb you make a new thread instead lof sifting through ppages on this....

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

Depends on how much info we really get Porta...My biggest fear is that Peter will rehash the old "secrets" but use the old demos to display them, that would suck...

If he doesn't, and everything is brand spankin' new, then yeah, another gifts thread would be great...

Break it down into "dog movies" "melee combat" like that...So we can see how it's steadily getting better...

But again, it all depends on how much new stuff we really see...11 days, we shall find out...

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

i want the secret to be that it is possible for you to die but instead of you losing the game it brings you into the world of the dead a world that overlaps albion, similar but also strange you start off from scratch just about. you get new spells that means you can resurect into the real world for a short amount of time haunt the living and so on and do everything that you would ever want to do when your dead. You should be able to escape from this world though fighting through hordes of ghosts and zombies, zombie balverines the legions of the undead to reach a magical spring or something. but this way only work for the first time that you are in the land of the dead and is the only way to leave that time so you have to stay there and level up in the land of the dead.

If you die again then other ways will open up and you can do different things everytime to come back to life but this time there are no hints wnd everything is really hard to do so that you are more careful when/if you return to life. If you die half way through the main quest you should be able to still complete the main story because you learn a few spells that inable you to interact with the living world posestion, zombie etc. if you complete every quest in the land of the dead and find all of the sears and cross the bridge of doom (monty python style bridge) then you meet with the gray lady who gives you the chance to learn a spell that means you can enter the land of the dead for a short time to by pass obsticles though everytime you use it you lose more of yourlife force. if you lose it all you can never return to the land of the living completely and become the grey man (still able to use the possetion zombie return spells etc) but never again able to truly feel sunlight or a cool breaze or warm rain on your checks.

and yeah make a new one that would probably be the best idea then everyone will know where the videos are.

best ideas are thought up during the witching hour heeh

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

I think the feature will be the arena and how that will be the online mode. You can battle your friends or go through the stages of the arena toghether. But its an hour long keynote so i dont think he'll just go on about the third featuer for an hour I think he'll also show the current progress of the game. How far the dog has come along since last year and possibly see the magic system (crosses fingersWink [;)])

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

Maybe. But I think the last feature is something we might not have guessed.. Something no one would have thought. I mean.. who imagined the dog?
After all, these 3 things are MAJOR advancements, in some way or anothing. And unless this online feature is absolutley revolutionary, then I dont think online play will be the next thing. But maybe im wrong.

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

I hope it does'nt have anything to do with online they should just focus on the single player thing. The third feature i think will be massive and that makes the dog and combat look like small features.Cheeky [:cheeky:]

It might as well have been confirmed everyone, again wether its the 3rd secret or not there is multiplayer in Fable 2, my highest bets are still on online in some way or the other

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

Another thing i would like to see on the gameplay demo is if theres a health bar or not?

i really want to know because i think games these days shouldn't have health bars, they just seem like an old thing in games. I hope it has the same health system as gears of war or call of duty 4.

if not then the health bar should regenerate like in assassins creed, taking potions is just stupid in games.

I say no regenerating health, but health healer items cannot be used in combat! Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Fable 2 @ GDC 2008

I agree completely. I hated the idea of regeneration and I think the only way your character should be able to heal himself is by going to a designated Healer.
