    Re: Breadcrumb feature

I think i would like the guiding magic dust, if the dog was not around, but Once i decide to take a 'main' quest i would like my dog to guide me, instead of pixie dust, while not on a main quest i would like him to distract me with the beautiful interactive enviroment while the character tries to follow the storySmily [:)]

There is no choice when it comes to having a dog or not. Everyone will have a dog!

    You are wrong.

I think part of the reason the dog leads on off the trail is because lionhead has also given it the jog of metal detector.

There needs to be some sort of GPS besides the dog because not everyone will play with it and then theres the fact that it not always be with you.

Why am i wrong? Find a modern video in which he talks about; not having a dog, killing it or abandoning it. If you can find one I'll accept that you can not have a dog.

Very interesting idea! That may explain why you have never seen this fairy dust trail. Because in almost all of the videos with Fable 2 they either have the dog or are in combat.............

You obviously haven't been reading my threads. lol Check my GDC thread there is at least one video and one audio link in which PM says it. Warning there are story spoilers in some videos.

I am surprised that members are still questioning the validity of my statements when I probably post over half of the links that are being discussed first. lol

Quite true, but then again all of the demos were staged and don't really show off the exploring aspect of Fable 2. I'm waiting for a video that features exploration of the world and how the dog functions as the player's guide in the game, maybe then they'll show off the fairy dust feature should a video of that nature be released. Because as of now most of the functions that have been visually showcased are the lookout trigger and how the dog works in contextual combat.

So once again, we come to the conclusion that we will have to wait to be able to give  an accurate evaluation of this so called "breadcrumb" trail

It's not a fairy dust feature, it's a bread crumb trail.

But, anyways, I'm not too sure if that would happen, as in a interview PM says something like that the dog will be trying to lead you off of the trail, so there has to be a trail to start with I suppose.  Bleh, I think I'll just wait untill I see what it actually is like before I make anymore comments on it.  Speechles [:zpeech:]

I'm calling it the "fairy dust feature" because that is apparently how it appears in the game according to IGN. It could be called one or the other anyway. Smoker [:zmoker:]

    Re: Breadcrumb feature

If the bread crumb feature really is like 'fairy dust' them im against it, but if its more subtle then i suppose it would be alright. Would be better if there was just an on/off button, or a slider changing its visibility.
I had a few ideas that could substitute it: my first idea is to 'activate' a quest which will then tell your dog which quest you want to do, and he will lead you to the objective, my second idea is just to have sign posts showing where each road leads to, and the post you want to follow will be slightly brighter, or outlined.

But again, non of us have witnessed the feature, so we cant tell what its going to be like at all, so id have to admit, this is kind of pointless, and im just contributing to it.
But if the feature really is this bad, im sure LH will see the public outcry and change the mechanic, because im sure the game wont be out untill 3rd quarter, and lets not turn this into a 'release date' thread because of my comment

Did you even read my post??

no of course i didn't... did you read mine? Please stop being so patronising, i'm not four years old. The reason i "couldn't be bothered" to follow up on fablier's post is that while it was an interesting point of view i hadn't got round to posting yet.

What I was saying was that if the dog does only one job at a time i.e you use a "toggle button that you [use] to go between them" then you might not notice a silver key or something of interest that the dog might otherwise have shown you because it is only leading you to the quest. If it is only leading to points of interest then you have no idea where you are going. Having two things to do two jobs allowsyou to go to your quest and discover points of interest on the way. If you were toggling you would have to stop and toggle it every ten meters or so to check for items etc.

This is my view, please try not to have a fit this time and start calling me an idiot for having an opinion o.k.?

According to the information released, No. Everyone has a chance to get a dog early on in the story but even if you do get the dog that doesn't mean you will have it with you at all times as you can leave it at home, kill it, and not have it with you because of certain story events.

this is a topic that comes up on many occasions I think PM should directly adress it very soon to put these descussions in their graves. I like the discussions but I think they should be laid to rest with a direct adress from PM. It's making the community confused?

Indeed, best to wait till PM really lets us know what it will be like or better yet, a video showing it off.  Up []

Wow. I was only joking about how I have posted lots of information during my time as a member here and was surprised members didn't reconize that more. Litigious obviously got that my comment was jest and I am sure most of the other members that read my posts did too. I guess snice your waxing thread got locked that you either need somewhere to direct your anger or are just trying to get more attention. Oh well I am sure Mort will keep things for getting out of hand.

So what would you do without the dog?? How would you ever notice those keys without a dog barking at them?? Looks like you're completely lost without the dogs help, OH WHAT SHALL WE DO??

I don't know, maybe look for the stuff ourselves?? Maybe instead of running and looking straight ahead, you could try and notice things...

I'm sorry, would you like an 'Easy Button' from Staples sent to your door with a copy of Fable 2, so you can defeat Lucien before you even unwrap the game?? Huh? [:^)]

    As for Porta's question,

    Portarock:

sCM redruM while I do like the toggle idea better then dust, what about when/if you don't have the dog?

Sorry I didn't respond earlier man, I was waiting for someone to ask the opposite question that you asked, because both get the same answer...You have to do it on your own...

"How will you notice things and find treasures without the dog??"

    Same rules apply to

"How will you get around and explore without the dog??"

Also, since the world is more open, you can press select, look at the big map and find your location the ol' fashion way...

I miss those NES days, where you had a big map that came with the game and you had to look at in order to find your way around...goD those days were entertaining, immersed you even more in the game since you're doing all the navigating...
