Re: 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Contest

Now that's too odd...Biggstrek's "Terrible Old Man", and now Slarner's.    I also had initially planned to do my take on the "Terrible Old Man" for this year!  Fortunately I decided upon "Innsmouth" instead otherwise there'd be three Old Men this time around.  By the way, Biggs, Slarner didn't use me as the Old Man, so at least they won't both have the same voice!   Now to grab my popcorn and drop by Slarner's studio to enjoy his vision of TTOM.  I'm already grinning in anticipation.

EDIT: I'm back, with my popcorn bucket empty and an even larger grin on my face.  Great job, Slarner--loved the look and feel of your take on TTOM.   Now to stock up on popcorn and await Bigg's vision!

And here is my humble entry...

    http://www.tmo-hi-res.com/TMOinGloriousHighResolution/biggstrek/TheTerribleOldMan.html

Click the poster to be directed to Norrie's site where the preferred version resides.  Download and (if possible) listen with headpones.  It sounds better that way.

For those that don't know, this movie was edited externally and will NOT be appearing on the TMO charts or my studio page.  I had a lot of fun putting it together, using Sony Vegas for the video editing and Sony ACID for the sound design and music.

I also have it up on Vimeo and YouTube, but Norrie's site is the best.

    I hope you enjoy...

"Humble entry" my foot, Biggstrek, this is a grand vision of a classic Lovecraft tale.  I watched it last night, and I'm STILL grinning...and, oddly, laughing diabolically at times.  This one's guaranteed to put a grin on all its viewers' faces, and a shiver down their spines.

Do you want to tell the G o o d [Good] people of TMO what you were actually saying during those "mumble" and laughing sequences (as the Old Man)?

Stick out tongue [:P]  All I was saying was I wanted a trailer (even a rickety one)--it was much too hot to be sleeping in my car during those shoots.  Oh, and a new makeover as well...and maybe an entourage while you're at it.  I think I also mentioned something about a new car, and maybe a new.....[fades away mumbling].

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing all of this year's entries. I think we've got a great bunch of filmmakers involved and I'm fairly excited to see what gets entered.

Thanks Slarner, I appreciate that.  You know that it was YOUR movies (especially The Music Of Erich Zann) that inspired me to make my own HPL movie this year.

And that YouTube version of my TTOM is the worse quality one I've uploaded (they turned my audio to MONO!  Sad [:(] )  I am very tempted to delete it...

So, any other entries?  Anyone coming close to completion?

Hypothetically, could one make a movie about the life of H.P. Lovecraft rather than adapt one of his narratives or construct something from his mythos.  Again... this is all hypothetical, since I doubt I have time to work on anything.

EEEEKKK!!! I hope no one makes that movie about H.P Lovecrafts life, as I have been planning to do it for ages...I've been reading up on the great man and I think a Bio-pic would be a fantastic ideaBig Smile [:D]

The styles between Chuck and Yardley's films are SO radically different that I would personally love to see both your visions, and know that the cinematic experiences would likewise be utterly unique from each other.  I strongly urge you both to craft your "Bio-pic"s as entries for next year's competition.

I'd love to do the H.P. Lovecraft Bio-pic for next years competition Joseph...but I think Lovecraft's life is so fascinating that it would be difficult for me not to make the movie run for about 2 hours...I suppose I could do a short version...watch this space....he he heWink [;)]

Well, we are into the final stretch. A mere 8 days to go and we'll have all of this year's entries. I must admit, we've only got a small handful this year and I am certainly hoping for a few more last minute entries to give us enough steam to continue the contest next year.

I am thrilled with the level of quality we've received this year and I'm hoping that we get a few more.

As for a Bio-pic? That would certainly be acceptable. Nothing stranger in all of fiction than the life of the Old Man of Providence.

Will you be making an appearance on TMOA on Sunday, Ceronomus?

For those that don't know, The Roger and Ken Show will be having many of the H.P.Lovecraft entrants (and organizer?) on this coming Sunday's show.

I know I'm invited... anyone else?  (If you haven't been, then check your PM inbox or contact Ken, aka kuroken.)
