I've got a feeling you're going to make the Commandant join Sparrow's team that's fighting against Lucien. I think it would be G o o d [Good], and a really interesting twist to what really happens.

    Re: Chapter 15-Lucien's Diary

Hey guys! I got a fresh new chapter for you! Thanks again to everybody who reads, i am super happy you all enjoy it as i do!

Sparrow finds Garth and talks to him about a planning an escape, when an unexpected visit throws her into panic!

    Chapter 30
    -Panic-

“I thought we would never get a chance to talk.” Garth spoke out loud. I turned to him immediately and tried to clutch at something, meeting only a pulsating pink wave. “No don’t-!” Garth warned, but it was too late. My gloved hands met with the barrier and a shock ran through me. “AAAAAARGH!” I fell to my knees and clutched my arms, hugging myself. “Hnn...” I whimpered.
“Don’t..do that...”Garth sighed and knelt down. “You’ll be fine. It’ll momentarily disable you, but you’ll be fine. Just remember not to do that in the future.”

“Yeah...” I wheezed, getting back on my feet. I still felt the effects, but tried to put on a face so as not to alarm him. “So...what...did you need to talk to me about?”
“I heard about what happened. Earlier, I mean. I’m sorry that had to happen to you. I tried to warn you about this place.” Garth spoke softly and genuinely. I could sense it in his voice. I nodded slowly and looked up at him. I could see bruises and welts on his face. I noticed he was not wearing a shirt and that there were more cuts and bruises on his chest. I saw scars on his back and I cringed at the thought of what torture he must have endured.
Before I could speak, Garth raised his hand to silence me. I looked upon him with sadness, but he just shook his head.

“Sparrow, I have been contemplating an escape plan from the moment I entered this god-forsaken place. It is only now I believe I even have a chance of finally being free.” Garth told me. I nodded and swallowed hard.
“Does that mean you have a plan then?” I asked, hopeful. Garth only shook his head and my heart sunk.
“Well, we will just have to work on one then.” I told him. I stood there, looking around for anyone that could possibly overhear our conversation, but I saw no one near. Garth sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. I turned back to him, wondering what was wrong.

“The only way we would have any chance is if the Commandant was out of the picture. While we are in this spire, it saps our Will powers. Yet the Commandant is able to retain his because of pieces of the spire surgically implanted in his body.” Garth paused as I gasped.

“That is why he looks that way. I wondered what had happened.” I held my gloved hand up to my mouth, thinking back to all the jutting spikes and his glowing mouth.

“Yes,” Garth continued, “It must have been excruciating to endure. I’m surprised he survived. But now is not the time to discuss this. Be thinking of some way to be rid of the Commandant. Any chances you think you might have, any advantage given, take it.”

I nodded to acknowledge that I heard what Garth said, but in the back of my mind all I knew was that I was going to have to, somehow, kill the Commandant. I heard footsteps behind me and whipped around to see another guard coming down the hall. He looked at me with suspicion and then I noticed who it was. It was Stephen.

“Lionheart! What are you doing here? They put you on guard duty for Garth already? That was fast!,” Stephen chuckled. I smiled half heartedly at this.
“Uh, yeah! Yeah, they did. I’m movin’ on up!” I chuckled nervously and Stephen smiled.

“Well, keep up the G o o d [Good] work then! See you at dinner then?” He then left me and Garth alone once more. I frowned. If word got out that I was over here, it could spell disaster if we were ever caught. Garth and I would be slain on the spot and then there would be no hope for anyone. I groaned and continued to stand at my “post”.

It seemed that I stood there for ages, chatting with Garth, watching guard after guard patrolling the halls pass us by and congratulate me on my new post. I cringed with each one. Obviously the word was spreading quickly and finally, the time of reckoning had come. The Commandant stalked down the hall towards me. Tears started forming and a massive frown was permanently stamped on my face as he approached. I heard Garth’s voice in my head telling me to remain calm, but as the Commandant now stood in front of me, my knees were ready to buckle.
“Recruit 273,” The Commandant’s raspy voice held a tone of disapproval.
“YES!” I squeaked, “Err, yes, Sir?”
The Commandant glared deep into my eyes and my will was failing. I opened my mouth to beg, but then I heard Garth speak up.

“Nice to see you too, Commandant. I trust you are keeping well?” Garth looked up at the massive, spiked, tank of a man with a condescending manner. The Commandant’s eye twitched, but he remained focused on me.
“Recruit 273, I did not assign you to this cell. So, why do I see you standing here now? Answer me this!” The Commandant barked. I flinched at his harshness.

“Sir, I was only curious. Forgive me, please.” I spoke shyly, expecting a sharp slap across the face or the shock of my collar. When neither came, I just stared back into the Commandant’s eyes.
“You are forgiven for this trespass, recruit.” The Commandant said coldly. This made my heart skip and my eyes widen dramatically. I felt even worse than if he had struck me. His voice was arctic wind and I just got frostbite.
“Thank you, S-sir?” I tested the waters of his patience and his mercy. I could see a wily smile creeping behind that bloody mask of his and my confidence was shattered. The Commandant gripped the front of my coat and lifted me into the air. I screamed at the suddenness, full of fright and holding onto his gloved hands. I struggled in his intense grip, and the Commandant only laughed. He enjoyed having this kind of power over me, over everyone in this Spire. Garth made no sound to indicate that he cared for my safety, though his thoughts told me otherwise. I assured him I would be alright, but then the Commandant slammed me against the pulsating pink barrier and an incredible wave of pain flooded my senses.
I let out an immense screech like that of a banshee as I was held against the barrier. The Commandant only mocking my pain, pressing harder into my chest. I felt the barrier bending behind me and Garth stepped back into the depths of his cell. A shock swept through the Commandant suddenly and I heard him shriek in pain. The barrier broke, he fell forward and Garth caught me as I fell backwards.

“Are you alright?” Garth whispered to me. I whimpered and nodded, looking up at him. His face softened and I saw his sadness. I shook my head trying to tell him not to worry about me, but then I heard another familiar voice.
The Commandant knelt, picking himself up off of the floor as he heard it too.
“Shameful.” Lucien spoke as he looked, disgusted, at his loyal servant now groveling on the floor. “You should have more sense than that. Attacking a woman. It’s disgusting.”

The Commandant still knelt, looking at the floor, ”I apologize, my Lord. I know only to punish those who step out of line.”
“Indeed. So do I.” Lucien stepped past his servant and towards me. I gasped, tensing in Garth’s protective grip. I wasn’t ready for this, not like this. Lucien stood above us both, my chest suddenly hurt and all the breath left me. I gulped for air, but there was none. Lucien extended his hand and for a moment I was back in that tower. He held a gun to me and fired. I screamed and hit his hand away, standing up, I nearly throttled him. But Garth grabbed my hands and wrapped his muscular arms around me as I struggled. He held me firmly as he could with me fighting him off, trying to attack the man in front of me.
“NNNNNAAAAAAAA!!!” I screamed, adrenaline and intense panic filling every inch of me. Slowly, but surely, I began to calm. Garth’s strength never wavered and finally I was calm enough to approach.
The Commandant stood, shielding his master from any harm, but after I had settled Lucien walked out from behind him.

“My G o o d [Good]ness, what has gotten into you?” He asked me. Garth still held onto me, but I did not fight him. If anything, I was glad for the security.
“You’d think she was a wild animal. Hasn’t she been broken?” Lucien asked the Commandant this time.

“It appears I have not, my Lord. I do the best that I can.”The Commandant bowed apologetically. Lucien shook his head.

“What is your name child?” Lucien asked me.

“It’s Sp-,”I paused, frightened of almost revealing my true name, but continued, “My name is Lionheart.” This last line was barely above a whisper, but he heard me clearly.

“Garth, please. There is no need to keep hold of her any longer.” Lucien told him. It was more of an order by the sound of his voice and with that, Garth relinquished his hold on me. Without it, I fell forward, still not having much strength to stand. Both Lucien and the Commandant reached for me, but I was caught by Lucien. I wanted to scream again. I wanted to cry or hit him. Anything to relieve this horrible feeling inside me.
“There now, you’re alright.” Lucien’s words were calm, soothing and gentle. It was eerie to hear them spoken to me. I knew he could see the fear in my eyes and felt my trembling.
“There is no need to be afraid. I won’t hurt you.” Lucien helped me stand upright, but still kept a G o o d [Good] hold on my forearms for balance. I looked down, saw his hands gripping mine and I nearly lost it again. I was close, too close for comfort. I looked over Lucien’s shoulder and I noticed the Commandant was glaring worse than any other time I had seen him. He was glaring at me with blood in his eyes. I gulped and looked back at Lucien, who was no more a comfort. I was terrified beyond anything I had ever felt before. My chest ached worse and I couldn’t breathe again. The look of pain and discomfort washed over my face. I saw stars before my eyes and darkness encroached from all sides. There was shouting, Lucien held me as I collapsed and then nothing.

I awoke to an unfamiliar ceiling. I was not in my own bed, but then, whose bed was it? I tried lifting my arms, but found it quite impossible. My limbs were nothing but dead weight and I lay, only barely able to move my head. My head was pounding and buzzing with the past events. Now there was the added threat of whatever this place was. I painfully moved my head to the right and saw that I was not in just any room. And I was not laying on a bed, but a table. I was laying in the hospital wing. I heard a door open and I closed my eyes pretending to still be sleeping.
“Oh please, you’re not fooling anyone.” Spoke the Commandant. My eyes shot open and I yelped as I saw his face over mine. “The sedative should have worn off by now.”
It was just then I noticed I was only in my skivvies. Why was I always nearly nude around this guy? I thought to myself as the Commandant released my wrists from their shackles. I sat up immediately and glared at him.

“Do not start with me.” The Commandant barked at me.

“Oh yeah? And why not?” My head was not quite clear and I was feeling ready to lash out recklessly.

The Commandant held up the back of his hand to me and I winced, ready for the impact, but he was able to stay his hand. I slightly chuckled, the medicine messing with my head, I was feeling cocky.
“Suddenly you’re not the favorite, huh?” I was really beginning to mouth off now. This time the Commandant gripped my throat tightly, but I could only laugh, thinking of when he got shocked himself.
“You weren’t so tough when Ol’ Lu showed up, were you?” I choked out. He let go as the door opened once more and Lucien walked through. I yelped and jumped back up on the table as if he were a rat I found in my kitchen.

Lucien looked over to me and then to the Commandant who bowed low. Lucien ignored this gesture and passed the prostrate man, and stood nobly before me.

“You gave us quite a turn when you passed out like that. Luckily it was only a panic attack, most likely set on by that ferocious attack. I apologize, my lady.” Lucien bowed slightly and I scoffed involuntarily. This made him double take and I quickly composed myself as best I could. The Commandant glared at me once again and stood silently in the shadows, consumed in his own darkness. Lucien just shook his head.
“Please, we can all be civil here.” There was an icy tone in his voice that made the hairs on my neck stand straight. The Commandant looked away and remained silent. I looked at Lucien, still taller than me as I sat on the table. His figure was more than intimidating, dark velvet enveloped him and his icy blue eyes were maddening. He was paler than the moon, with wrinkles etched deep in his face and his hair was wizened, white as a ghost. He looked far older than he should, perhaps the prolonged effects of the Spire? Whatever the case, he was more frightening than ever, though his demeanor was much improved from last I saw him.

“Lionheart, you are called. A very valiant name, for such a dainty lady.” Lucien softly spoke.
I got an odd vibe from him that made me feel slightly nauseated.

“Do you have another name? Perhaps one more fitting? How about your given name?” Lucien smiled at me, but all I could manage to do was not heave onto his finely tailored suit. I just shook my head, not daring to open my mouth. Lucien chuckled.
“Shy. Please, do not be intimidated by me, I am only a man.” Lucien humbly spoke, placing a hand over his heart. I remained silent still. My mind was still trying to process all of this, but it felt like someone had thrown a wrench into the cogs of my brain. Nothing was getting through.

After a long silence, Lucien sighed and turned away. I was slightly less intimidated as his eyes were not upon me, but still the desire to scream did not lessen. With every nerve in my body focused, I managed to stutter something of a sentence.

“W-what are you going to d-d-d-do?” I shuddered.

Lucien turned back to me, his eyes wide and his jaw slacked a bit. At that moment I feared he may recognize me, but then he only smiled even more warmly.
“My dear, you have a lovely voice. You have been through Hell to be where you are now, I can’t even fathom...” His eyes trailed away for a moment, but then darted back to me. Lucien bowed again and continued,”Perhaps you wouldn’t mind joining me for dinner? I imagine you must be starving and it’s past your normal dining hours. You would starve all night if you returned to your quarters and I simply cannot allow that.”

At this time I slipped down from my place on the table and stared straight up at his ghostly face. He looked a bit surprised, but not completely fazed and the Commandant was at the ready. I looked back at him, then back to Lucien and slapped him hard across the face with my bare hand. He grunted and grabbed his face, the Commandant rushed to his side and I hit Lucien again, harder this time. He yelled as I struck him a third and final time, the Commandant now in an electric fit of rage at the sight of his master disgraced in such a manner. I was promptly seized by the throat and thrust into the nearest wall. Lucien wiped a bit of blood from his mouth and looked at me with a pity, as if I were some rabid animal in dire need of euthanasia.

“I am sorry that such a beautiful woman is lacking in proper manners.” He spoke with a sharp tongue as his “pet” pinned me to the wall, robbing me of precious air. “I shall just have to make certain that you learn to obey. Now...sleep-p-p-p......”
Those last words echoed through my mind and I once more whited out.

So glad to see a new chapter. The Commodant is really going to be mad at her now. At first I was thinking he was falling for her but now I think he'll just be meaner to her. To bad, I really like the bad boys and the conflict that would put her in if she started falling for him too. Can't wait for the next chapter!!! Up []

Look how he basically let her glide through when they were making them into guards. He wanted her there. I can't wait to see more between the two of them. Next chapter please!!
