Broken Steel for Fallout 3. Which, as usual, completely failed to install and had to be done manually.

Well after finishing Persona 3 last week I've played through Flower and Uncharted, now I'm on to Valkyria Chronicles.

Currently slogging through DragonQuest : Hand Of The Heavenly Bride on DS. I was a bit unimpressed at first but it's slowly growing on me. Very old school console RPG. Makes me think that I was too hasty dismissing the Chrono Trigger remake...

I've finally got Dark Omen working on XP, so I've been playing that quite a bit recently. Partly because it's a great game, partly because my computer's on its last legs and any games made this century crash within moments.

    Re: What are you playing?

I dunno what to play right now. Sad [:(] It's actually quite frustrating. I'm actually doing constructive things instead! It's all wrong.

Well, apart from Guild Wars of course...but then I play that so my hands have something to do whilst watching a movie. Clearing out areas in hard mode, so cathartic.

The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

I've been playing Sacred 2. It's not the kind of game that makes you say "Wow I've never seen that in a game before" but it is a G o o d [Good] all around solid game and it's fun. The world is HUGE on top of that.

    Re: What are you playing?

I've been playing Shadow of the Colossus lately.  I always wanted to play it but didn't own a PS2, a friend of mine loaned me his for the summer.

Having finished the game, I'm left with this feeling that it's overrated.  The music is great, the boss fights (colossi) are fantastic, but there isn't much of a story and I felt the camera and horse controls were my toughest opponent.  It's a G o o d [Good] game, I'm glad I played it, but I don't see why so many game critics hold it in such high esteem.

    Are you an ODST (fanboy)?

    Re: What are you playing?

    Got inFamous last night. Things 'splode. 'S G o o d [Good]Smily [:)]

I like the idea. Feels very much like City of Heroes should have felt, although that might be because I favoured an Electric Blaster in CoH and the guy in inFamous is, er, an Electric Blaster.

Still, it's fast, fluid and fun, and although I've not played it for that long the story seems to be unravelling in an interesting way. And a superhero story without a G o o d [Good] story would, frankly, suck. But it all plays out with a brilliant comic-book presentation and vibe. Very slick, very engaging. Cole seriously needs some throat medicine though. Either that or he got kicked in the balls very hard once and is now over-compensating.

The whole free-running through the open world thing is great though, and I find myself quite happy to scamper about the city rooftops for ages between choosing to start missions. Very liberating in much the same way web-slinging was in the earlier spiderman games. If Assassin's Creed's system had been this G o o d [Good], it might have been forgiveable for them not putting any actual game in there...

Anyway, I had my doubts about it, even after the demo, but it looks like it's actually very G o o d [Good]. And in fairness, I had my doubts about Uncharted - even after the demo - but once I played the full thing with the story etc in place, it turned out to be one of my all-time favesSmily [:)]

EDIT - and, thankfully, there's no Multiplayer! They just concentrated on the main game rather than wasting time, resources and budget lubing up some brainless, unnecessary online drivel and jamming it in at the last minute! Woo!
Pay heed, rest of worldSmily [:)]

    Re: What are you playing?

Speaking as a former Elec/Elec blaster, I am now becoming excited. They'll release that on the Wii, right?

    Right?

Since you mentioned Spiderman, have to say I loved Spidey (the movie) 2 on Gamecube for swinging about and running up the sides of buildings, and at the time I thought "finally, a game that *gets* what it's like to web-sling like Spidey does". Except that I played Spidey 3 on the Wii last weekend, and now I know I was wrong - the Wii version is what it would really be like to be spiderman, swinging through the city - f****ng difficult, awkward and on your first day you'd keep smashing your face into buildings. And you'd probably give up after ten very embarassing painful minutes. The two-handed flicky-web-line controls are the biz Wink [;)]

Mostly playing Pokémon Platinum at the moment. Just when I thought I was out, they keep pulling me back in with their little paws.

    Right?

PS3 only, mate. They understand the things that make me happySmily [:)] You'd like it though - they've even got powers like Fly (well, more like glide, really) and SuperSpeed (along, er, train tracks), and various other shooty/splodey/shieldy ones to pick from as you grub up more XP...

If you're *really* lucky, Activision might eventually do a Wii spin-off of their superhero gig 'Prototype'. But I'm finding it difficult to figure out what you actually *do* in it, coz every time you go near anyone the game seems to throw smoke and buckets of red paint at the camera, which then starts whizzing about like it's the early days of freecam in The Movies. I'm told it might be quite G o o d [Good] though.

    ('scuse double post)

... and becasue it's really, really quiet at work, having found a SNES emulator that runs on Portableapps, I'm playing Shadowrun!

Quite enjoying it, actually. Much better than that vista/xbox FPS rubbish that came out a couple of year ago. Unlike that one, the SNES game reminds me of something I'd not rather beat myself to death with my own spleen than play.

    Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

    I went a nosferatu first time around, which I quickly realised wasn't a G o o d [Good] idea.

    Also, the hotel made me jump so many times. ;_;

I forgot which one I picked, It was the one that had you play as a black guy, I thought the game was fun but my comp isnt brilliant so It lagged alot.

I'm playing UFC:Undisputed atm, along with Shining Force.

The UFC game is pritty damb G o o d [Good], alot of realism there, I notice alot of the moves used and its fun to perform them, the only real quarrels I have with it is, the Kicks are very underpowerd, I dont know if any one you have ever been kicked by a Thai Boxer but it hurts, to the leg it feels like the worse dead leg on earth, to the body its hard to compare it to any thing, other then painfull, and head kicks well if one of them lands right you wake up a couple minuites later.

I'n this game you can take as many leg kicks as you want and it doesnt seem to effect you, Bandia's (kicks to the body) tend to drop you in the game if you take too many but thats about it, but you can take loads, upto 20 without it making no difference, just 1 of those kicks hurts leg and mother fucker when you take one never mind 20. Also you can take about 10 perfect head kicks and your still standing, which just cuts the realism alittle. But I can understand why, they'd be ballancing problems all over if it stuck too close to real life.

My second quarrel is that the carrer mode stars brilliantly and is fun for a while but well it starts to get alittle repetetive doing the same thing over and over again.

Shining force was also a decent little game, plays alittle like final fantasy tactics, the script isnt brilliant though, neither is the story lol??.

In between inFamous - which just keeps getting better as it goes along - Final Fantasy VII, which went up on the Playstation Network store a few days ago. I've also bunged it on my PSP. This pretty much means I'll miss my stop on the train every morning and eventually get fired, but I think it's worth it.

    Re: What are you playing?

Played the Uncharted Multiplayer beta a bit. To my surprise, it's actually pretty G o o d [Good]. Well, as far as multiplayer interpretations go, which I'm admitedly not that big a fan of.

Nothing like the single player of course - I mean, the mechanics are there, but the story and characters were the real stars of the original. It's just a little too flat for my liking without them. But I really quite enjoyed it, which is rare for me in multi-player tack-ons. Smooth, almost supernaturally lag-free, great graphics, well balanced - looks like they're trying hard to make it a worthwhile game in it's own right.

    Re: What are you playing?

Bought Supreme Commander Gold for 10€ yesterday. Great real time strategy game. Sad enough I could not play it on release because it did not work well on a single core CPU.

Also bought The Witcher Enhanced Edition for 15€ because all the free updates and quests they add in the near future. That is customer support how I like it! Did not touch the game, waiting for the last patch with quests in the next days/weeks. Cheeky [:cheeky:]
