Re: How to Upload your Movies

Is there another way to upload a movie other than via the game itself? I have an .MP4 and would like to upload it.  And, how do I allow the staff of this site to preview my movie without posting what might be an unacceptable movie according to the policies of this site which I am not all that familiar with. I redid the movie using an outside video editing program, adding my own music and sounds and titles. I have a link to my movie that has been uploaded to another site. Maybe I can send the link to you guys privately? Let me know. Tongue Tied [:S] Take care.

Re: How to Upload your Movies

The movie is meant to start playing and at the end it asks the name of your movie just in case that you want to change the name. So while its playing don't press anything because its exporting it. I don't know about the turning off bit though.

Re: How to Upload your Movies

I've been reading this thread and I want to re-raise a question never answered and give a possible answer for another one in case anybody else still has the same troubles. :-)

Coldilus (05-17-2006): Everytime I export my movie I watch it before I post it online and see if everything turned out right. Well, it doesn't. The audio's messed up. Like the sound effects are delayed and some of the music is gone! It was fine before I exported it and it still looks fine when I watch it in movie player. What's the problem?

Me: I have exactly the same problem - the sound ends up out of joint with the video by about 1 second per minute. It's as though they're working at different sample rates. I've had to cut my Loving Mr Wolf video into two halves so that each half isn't too out of synch by the end. It's really frustrating. I've contacted Feral support (Feral did the version for Macs) and all they could really suggest was rebooting before loading the game. Tried that - makes no difference. If I can't get this fixed there's little point me using The Movies Online and I should just export into Quicktime, edit the sound back in synch with the vid in iMovie and upload to another site. But that would be a real shame. Anyway, so I was wondering if anybody has had the same problem or knows of a possible solution.

"How come when i upload, it only uploads like 20 seconds of it?!?!? I tried uploading it again but what do i do?"

If it's a Mac you're using then you need to register your copy of Flip4Mac - the software that converts Quicktime to WMV. If it's still set to the demo version it only gives you 30 seconds by default.

    cheers

No.  Lionhead doesn't allow outside editing onto The Movies Online.

Re: How to Upload your Movies

I've try to upload a little movie, but it seems that the game don't want to do it. Is it possible that it's because I have a new disc (my first one broke in my computer and Feral send me a new one)? Or is it because someone made an upgrade on Flip4Mac (not sure if the update was made or not)?

Hey, Mac - yeah, the only way to add your own titles or other effects to movies you're uploading to this website is to use overlays and other mods (modifications). If you type "titles" into the search bar in the "Mod Showcase" forum you should probably find a tutorial that explains all that kinda stuff.

If you use an AppleMac (like me), then sadly you can't add mods & overlays etc yet.

If you're not bothered about uploading to The Movies Online you could do as much editing as you like in an external editing programme and upload your film to YouTube etc then post links to your film in the "Your Movies" forum. Quite a few people are doing that 'cause it opens up a lot of opportunities for experimenting.
