I forgot to post a link to my entry here.  Better late than never.

    DARK TIDES OF INNSMOUTH

Now, when will the winners be announced (I think the rules mentioned some time after Aug. 1)?

I emailed Ceronomus that very question about a month or 2 ago.  At the time, he said he should have a result "next week".  WTF [:wtf:]  I guess they are busy preparing for the Festval and haven't gotten around to it yet.  Disappointed [:isappoin]

Re: 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Contest

Hey folks. Sorry it took me so long to get the winner information to you. Things got hectic and then I was out of town for two weeks doing a show in LA. Anyhow, let's cut to the chase shall we?

    Our finalists this year were

    Dark Tides of Innsmouth
    Hadean
    Terrible Old Man - Biggstrek
    Terrible Old Man - Slarner

It should come as no surprise that the winner this year was a REALLY tough choice and there was a lot of arguing back and forth until we decided on a favorite. It was REALLY difficult and all of these films were just amazing.

    <drum-roll>

The winner of the 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Machinima Contest is.....

SLARNER for his rendition of the Terrible Old Man!

Great job! All of you, just wonderful stuff. Schedule time this year prevents us from showing more than just our winner (next year the festival may expand to another screen's worth of material) but we're also already talking about next year's contest and maybe a contest retrospective to get more of you folks the screen time that your efforts really deserve.

I've got to take a moment to state that Andrew was just blown away with this year's finalists and considering how many films that man has to watch, that is saying a LOT.

    More info from me soon...

Re: 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Contest

We were on pins and needles awaiting the judges' final decision!  A huge congrats to Slarner for his version of "the Terrible Old Man", and the rest of the finalists.   This has been a fun contest once again and we're thankful for all the work the judges and everyone has put into hosting this.

Now I'm off to catch Slarner's winning entry again!

While I'm disappointed and a little surprised, I must say that Slarner's film is indeed a G o o d [Good] one and deserves more attention (as well as the rest of his work.  It's all G o o d [Good]).

    Congrats Slarner.  Well done.

Re: 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Contest

Just back from my vacation and read this. Great news!! I really enjoy making H.P. Lovecraft films (for my own benefit) and it's really nice to feel that other people are enjoying watching them.

I'm going to take the chance before I'm back to work to go through the other entries. Should be G o o d [Good]!

So that's where you were!  Welcome back, hope you enjoyed your vacation, and I hope you enjoy the other entries as well.   Congratulations once again, Slarner.

Re: 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Contest

It was a REALLY tough decision this year and got a bit nit-picky back and forth before we could decide on a winner. REALLY tough... In the end, Andrew (the head of the festival) gave us the final decision after a great deal of spirited debate.

As it is, we're putting steps into place to make submitting to next year's contest MUCH easier, allowing folks to do it in an automated fashion like any of the film festival's submissions (but with a discount code that makes the submission free rather than having to pay a festival entry fee). It'll be so much easier next year, finish your film, upload it to the festival and you're all set.

Of course, you'll still want to share your films with everyone here.

Again, we had some AMAZING film entries this year and I look forward to an even bigger and better festival next year.

    I'll be lurking....

Re: 2008 H P Lovecraft Film Festival Contest

If the entry method does change for ease next year I know already that it'll be a much bigger competiton interest!
Keep us posted Ceronomus, I'll be keeping an open ear Smily [:)]

    Howie.
