Well, I've got the line in question, been back into PP and knocked out a couple more scenes already...yay... Classic [:classic:]

I only stopped because the scene I've got to, I feel like I need a new piece of music, which I'll need to find, as nothing I have really suits the scene... so, I'll be logging into music sites across the land and searching, as well as trying to make up something myself.

Just to give anyone who hasn't lost interest yet an idea as to where I'm up to, here's a screenie:

now, that image isn't working for me for some reason, but if you can see it, then hopefully (unless you've seen the script), that'll make you go "what??" a little... or a lot is better. Nervous [:nervous:]

Al - if you can't see it either, then I'll skype it to you Wink [;)]

Actually I first wrote this film in April 2007 and gave it to Fred, in June I think.

So it's progress you want, eh? Well, I got big news, in that case...

    UPDATE!

Editing? All but finished! Every single VO has been put into place, and there is now very, very little left to do. In fact, I'll even post my to-do list:

    • Increase the volume of some of Mrs_Guppi's and fourthmusketeer_ben's VOs ORLY [orly]
    • Decrease the volume of the "phone effect" VOs of Howitzer and Roger Whisper [:-*]
    • Find a short (VERY short) piece of music for the scene of the screenie above Rolleyes []
    • Work out what I did with my phone sound effect and put that in place Ninja [:ninja:]
    • Edit a subtitle (which I wasn't entirely sure about) Paranoid [:aranoid:]
    • Cut the credits sequence Pirate [:aarr:]
    • Lip synch all VOs Speechles [:zpeech:]
    • Choose a thumbnail afraid [:afraid:]
    • Export. ^^ [^^]

Wacky - I need to discuss bits of the above with you briefly Paranoid [:aranoid:]

Up to the credits sequence so far is roughly 14 minutes, and the credits sequence uncut takes us up to 20 minutes, although I reckon I can cram it all into about two minutes, so I predict the movie will be roughly 16 minutes long... Classic [:classic:]Crazy []

So, dig out the popcorn folks, this is gonna arrive very soon indeed*...

    * - soon by the standards of production, that is. We're definitely talking 2008 now

I haven't been this proud of you seen The Bar. You have certainly become a mainstream TMO filmmaker. You're usually a VO, but now your a jack-of-all-trades.

The Last three movies I've seen from first to last:
    Body of Lies: 10/10
    Changeling: 8/10
    Quantum of Solace: Seven/10

Re: Cold War Espionage is Anything but routine. Overground Underground. Coming soon.

Uh...what nexus? Stick out tongue [:P] I'm not usually a VO at all... in fact, the last person I did VOs for was Wacky, for his Tears of a pale moon, and he'll tell you how long ago that was, and how much too long I took on them because ym mic's broken Crazy []

    Uh...anyway Paranoid [:aranoid:]

    UPDATE-TACULAR!

PP is completely completely completely complete! Big Smile [:D]

And today, I did my first test export. Sound synch so bad that it.... well, ruins the movie completely. In fact, a the very end, the soundtrack is still from about 3-4 minutes before, and it's near enough dead on 15 minutes in PP, which gives you an idea of the sort of size shift we're talking about.

So, I have several options, the way I see it...

Option 1: Keep trying and trying and trying, free up a load more RAM, defragment etc... and get tips on beating the sound synch bug from... anyone who knows anything *looks at the majority of people reading this*

Option 2: Send it to someone who can export it for me, who has a better computer and all that Jazz *looks vaguely in Wacky's direction, hopefully* Cheeky [:cheeky:] (although it could be anyone who has a half decent computer)

Option 3: Delay the release by several months until I have a better computer.

Option 4: Find a believable excuse to cancel completely Cheeky [:cheeky:]

And now while I'm definitely not going to do option number four, all three of the others are genuine possibilities. So: anyone got any tips on beating the sound synch bug? And who has a lot of RAM? Classic [:classic:]

Oh, and incase I can get a decent export soon - look out for a countdown thread Big Smile [:D]...

Re: Cold War Espionage is Anything but routine. Overground Underground. Coming soon.

    Wowowow! Such updates, such happenings!

Sorry to hear about the bug Sad [:(] I hope you manage to get around it - I'm sure I heard something about shifting all the scenes up one place then back again and playing the film through a number of times (also have the game running in low resolution - it should affect the export quality)... These should help. but it's just what I've picked up, I've never tried it.

    G o o d [Good] luck with it!
    Howie.

Re: Cold War Espionage is Anything but routine. Overground Underground. Coming soon.

I know some basic things: close all your applications in your toolbar (eg Skype etc), before you run the export sound bit drag the slider up and down the whole lenght of the movie a couple of times, this seems to familiarise the computer with the movie. Another possibility is to go in to Task Manager when the game is runnign and go to processes, find The Movies and set the priority to as high up as possible. THis may slow your computer and even cause a crash but may be worth a go.

If nothing works I could export it but I'd prefer ti was you after all that work.

Re: Cold War Espionage is Anything but routine. Overground Underground. Coming soon.

    Well, here's everything I've tried:

    • Opening the task manager and ending every process which I know won't break the computer (leaves very few)
    • Setting the priority of the movies to "Very High"
    • Playing the movie over and over and over again in PP

    I WILL be trying

    • Defragmenting
    • Clearing up my hard drive of stuff I don't need
    • Anything reasonable that's recommended Stick out tongue [:P]

Howie - Running the game in lower resolution than I have it already will break the mods, which would ruin the movie.... I had to lower the resolution last time I did a big export. Stick out tongue [:P]Paranoid [:aranoid:]

And unless defragmenting does some serious work, I'm afraid I'll be zipping and sending, Al Nervous [:nervous:]

But this is definitely the last long thing I film before I get the new computer...Cheeky [:cheeky:]

Right... so I defragmented, and did one of those "disk clean" type things where it deletes a load of files, I ran a virus scan, played the movie several times in PP, set the priority to high, removed about 15 other processes, and exported again... with an even worse result, somehow. Tongue Tied [:S]

Wacky - you up to exporting, sending me the exported thingy and then seeing if that works to upload through my account? Nervous [:nervous:]

Gah, shame to hear this is happening to you, Fred... I wish I could suggest something, but the only thing I can think of atm for a clean export is an upgrade...

If Wacky exports it and sends you back the exported TRL, INI and WMV file, you should be able to upload it, I do it with Frosty all the time.

Re: Cold War Espionage is Anything but routine. Overground Underground. Coming soon.

Oh great... another "minor" setback. Rolleyes []

Basically, for Wacky to export, I need to send him all the data files that go with the movie, and between the folder in my documents, and the one in the program files movies folder, it's about 2gb of data... but there's no way of sending it.

We tried it through skype, but it swallowed all my RAM, and killed Wacky's internet. E-mailing it's out of the question, because there's no way we're getting 2gb of data into a 10mb limit upload. Hosting it somewhere else: where?

Uh.... any advice? Paranoid [:aranoid:] I'm looking at you Andy, if you're still watching us Stick out tongue [:P]
