Yes, I've also wanted that in a game, but I also know why they don't do that.

The problem is people use names like(as an example, not making fun of the person in any way) h4rdc0r3. How would that name be pronounced by the game? H-Four-R-D-C-Zero-R-Three? or Hardcore(seeing as it's in 1337(leet) speak.

Then there are the people that name their characters with cuss words, which if pronounced would really upset the media.
