First off, all the people telling other to stop moaning, like fullmetalpanic, f*** off into another thread and let people express their opinions. Angry [:@]

The average person expected to be able to play as their own character and can't understand why lionhead wouldn't want this as well. The facts that you can't fight your friends and you have to share a screen in just another kick in the teeth.

If lionhead want people to stop complaining, they should come and explain to their fans the reasons why co-op isn't the way it should/could be.

Ok first off all....hmmm I think I was giving an Opinion also.
Second...you bunch of sad whiners already have multiple topics with multiple pages on which you all whine about something that was never promissed the way it was in your dreams.
I respect people that can give some solid arguments....but I havn't seen many off it.
It's basicly *Cry* *Cry* I can't see my hero in someone else his co-op and I want a split screen....thats why the entire Co-op sucks.

Where are the articles and video's where they promissed YOUR OWN HERO would be in online co-op...oh wait....NOBODY posted them yet.

Go take your crying to one specific topic so I can avoid it or MAKE one for whiner only.
If you can come up with some solid arguments (and not the same *** that was already posted before)
    Please do go ahead.

Oh and Black_Jack01...I suggest you "go away" yourself ^^ [^^] Ogre [:gre:]

Re: Are you Serious with the CO Op

This is my first post and my first time visiting here.  I discovered this thread via another site and I have to agree with the original poster (until the rant in later posts).  I loved Fable and was hyped for Fable 2, especially when it stated it had online co-op.  To hear that the co-op is accomplished with a generic character and not my true single player character is disappointing.

I do not frequent the game sites nor the game forums to get every little detail about a game.  I read the back of the box and look at a few game review sites once it goes retail.  I assumed (yes, I know that is a bad thing sometimes) that co-op would be like what the original poster said.  Heck, even the gamestop employee is thinking the same as well as a few other customers in the store getting the game also.  I can consider myself one of many who would assume this.  I am still going to play it, but I am still disappointed by the result.  I hope this would be changed at a later date (hopefully sooner than later).

You all should not criticize the OP for his assumptions because it is a legit one.  And the fact that a moderator would have a image of purses rather than a actual answer is silly.  I can expect that from a regular person, but not from an associate of Lionhead (paid or not).

I enjoy the co-op, it's G o o d [Good], together with the orbs it makes the game much more dynamic. It's a design decision, a G o o d [Good] one in my opinion but I am sure some will disagree. Now if only we'd let the Hero and Henchman use the 'seduce' expression on each other, or even get married. Smily [:)] Still, the online co-op is a nice extra.

Re: Are you Serious with the CO Op

"It's still and extra feature"... Yes, yes it is. Another thing you could say about it is that its just an extra feature. It's perhaps not as developed as some people would like, but in my opinion its just meant to be for fun... It's hardy something to throw a hissy fit about. The solo game is more important in my opinion. I'm not saying that makes it more important... because this topic is rapidly becoming a minefield.

Like I said earlier, there is a way to handle your disappointment in a respectful way. Calling the very people who created this game failures because you can't import your hero into co-op is ridiculous, insulting, and beyond disrespectful.

Re: Are you Serious with the CO Op

Disapointted to say the least. The henchmen I can just accept, but having to stay on the same screen with a bad camera, well thats just weak.

Its basically the same as GTA: San Andreas Co-Op (Weak), Though do you want to now why people didn't go and complain, and why it didn't affect reviews.

It was becuase Dan didn't go off and rant about how G o o d [Good] or revolutionary it was, actaully he didn't mention it at all. He knew that it wasn't great, He knew it was just a little extra thrown in.

Peter mentioned it all the f****ng time. Co-Op this, Co-Op that! He made it one of the key selling points of the game.  So people claiming it was an added extra, well it would of been if it wasn't brought up so much.

Well I guess Fable 2 won't forfill my Co-Op needs, Luckly I have got Saints Row 2. Lionhead need to look at that to see how Co-Op is done.

And people telling us to stop whining, please grow up. It was made out to be some revolutionary feature. BUT it wasn't! I bet you would complain if they made the expression system a plie of crap (Luckly its brillient) cosidering hats another feature made out to brillient (Again it is)

Hey, this is my first time posting on this site, got the link to this topic from some other site. I have to agree with Butchered. I dont know why some people dont want us complaining about a feature that Peter was talking about so much. I'm pretty sure the co-op was first showed at E3 and everyone loved it. I'm pretty sure the co-op wasnt JUST a little extra. It was showed front stage at E3...Thats really not the stage some developers use to show off just little extras in the game. I really hope you guys are atleast thinking about fixing this. I still love the game, but this co-op is really disspointing :[

I don't know how you can call this a nice extra.  This feature was made out to be a huge selling point, not some nice surprise.  Obviously, online coop is not going to change.  The developers seem very pleased with their design decisions and that is fine and dandy.  They are the creators and that's their prerogative, but trivializing the feature as a nice extra, after it was talked up so much, is very disappointing at this point.

those of you who keep telling us to "stop whining" really need to shutup. Heres facts. We WERE misled. Thats all there is to it and you cant deny it. They told us that Co op was one of the greatest innovations that they had. Would someone mind telling me what's innovative about it? The system is a step backwards in co op. no matter what you say you cant disagree with that. The way that co op was presented was VERY unprofessional and misleading and thats why were upset. Personally, we couldnt give a *** if your not buying the game for co op, or if you are fine with using some pre generated bullshit that has no relevance to our game or our character. When im told I get to bring my character into the game at any time with no menus screens, that doesnt insinuate me having to CHOOSE a henchmen. again, no one is whining. We are shocked. can you expect us to not be? we were misled end of story. We have a right to be. we have a right to critique games and developers. Did you not forget that you paid 60 f****ng dollars for this game? Its not like the developers are doing us some huge favor by gracing us with this game. They are making millions and millions of dollars off of it. im f****ng sick of people telling me to be grateful and stop throwing stuff at the developers face. If lionhead gave me this game for free, then you wouldnt hear a word out of me.

They told us you would just be a henchman OVER THREE MONTHS AGO!!  How did they mislead us?

The only thing I have an issue with is the camera, I think there should be the same boundaries, just separate cameras (so it doesn't zoom out so much).

Trying to stay out of this but your Developer pet started the whole thing. He made a comment that should not have been made.

Talk to Woody about knowing how to talk to people, first.

By the way, co-op is not an extra. Online co-op is one of the main features of the game.

Banning someone for saying they think all your games are failures? A bit harsh, if he'd said I was a fialure if life I wouldn't expect him to be banned, slap on the wrist maybe, but he's just another ass in the sea of asses that is the internet.

For anyone who can't see what I see I think Sam is subtly making the point that we, as gamers, would always want more. OK so we can play as our own characters, but we want them to get married and things, so they make that able to happen to, now players want to fight each other, now players can fight each other they want to be able to do something else etc.

There will ALWAYS be more a game developer can do, for one reason or another this time two different, dynamic characters wasn't viable (as the only other reason for not having it is if Lionhead didn't consider it, which I doubt, so the logical explanation is that they decided it was unworkable). Maybe next time, along with the other stuff that we, as gamers, will want.

For the sake of everyone's sanity though if a dev does read this would it be possible for Sam or someone to post a blog note just explaining why it's unworkable and if it was cut at the end of the development cycle or never worked on. It may act as flamebait in the comments section but for the sane, curious and polite of us it would be nice to know why.

This link is an interview with Dean Carter

This link is an article published back in July
"Guests join your game not as an equal adventurer, but as your henchman, a role that is actually classified as a job within Fable 2's career structure.
    "

This link is an article published in February
If your character is having a bit of trouble with a certain battle or boss, or if you just like whacking baddies with a friend you can hire a “henchman” who can pop in and out at any time. There’s a benefit for both players as instead of taking control of a generic NPC henchman like the ones featured in the original, you’ll be bringing in your own character

This link in another article, published in February, by IGN
Co-op is a simple setup where, at any time and at any point in the adventure, a friend can plug in a controller, hit start, and join your game world. This player is considered a henchman, who assists on your adventure.

    Here's another article
You can even hire your co-op partners on as henchmen, giving them no experience but compensating them monetarily.

    And another
This has been rectified for Fable II, where players can grab a second controller and join in the action. The second player will act as a henchmen of sorts for the main player, providing them assistance when required - most obviously in a combat situation.

    And another
What’s been revealed so far about exactly how that co-op system is going to work is this: you’ll be able to join your friend’s game dynamically. In other words, wherever you’re playing, your friend can join immediately and pick up in the story where you are. You will appear as a “henchman”, although your skills, level and abilities will be determined by one of two things: either they will match those of the host’s character, or if you bring your gamer profile over to your buddy’s house, the game will read it and give your henchman all the same stats as your player.
