i'm pretty sure that peter said that you can have a friend on a high lel come in and help you beat the whole game easily, but thats your choice and he cant stop you from getting a super high level character to come in. that makes me think that it is your character from another account. maybe if there is only one account, then someone can come in like a generic henchman of the same level as the player, like on rock band where you can join someone and not even have a profile, they just give you a default rocker.

    Re: A Henchman Question

I thought nuetral man was just the alignment of the hero comming into the world, not the hero's name, so that instead Peter's hero was "Noble Woman" and Josh's Hero said "Corrupt E v i l [Evil] Man" then the diametrically opposed co-op would mean that the world and the hosts alies and enemies would react differently, perhaps maring the host's reputation for a time.  But PM said that if the co-op henchman doesnt have thier own character or gamercard, then a generic hero will be generated based on the host hero.

Whether you think you can or can't, you're right either way.

    A few questions reguarding co-op.

(At the end of my little questionair, I am aware that I come up with my own theory's and assumptions. I hope someone can answer some of my questions.)

The following questions are to help me further understand how the co-op feature works, perhaps they will help you as well.

Say me and my brother both make new characters, and before I even begin to play on my own, I join via co-op into his world, now let's say that we both finish the game, I'm assuming that after that when I would finally go back to my game, I would be back at the beginning (As I hadn't done any quests in 'My World'), but I would keep the gold, exp and renown I earned, yes?
Is there going to be any implementation of an exchange or share system? Say I'm questing in my brother's world and he finds new equipment, will he be able to give me his hand-me-downs? If not, will the second player i.e. henchman be able to do more than fight alongside the main character, like bartering at shops and the like?
If yes, then an exchange system wouldn't be as mandatory, but you'd have to watch out that you don't buy equipment for the second player expecting to exchange it afterwords.

My theory on these matters is that co-op is much more simple than it looks (This isn't a bad thing, as simple is in most cases best). You join your friends game with your pre-made hero and all you gain from his/her game is the key three, that being gold, exp and renown.
I don't expect that you'd both be able to shop at the same time, thus leading to the idea of exchanging, but seeing as this is a Fable game we're talking about, it's probably only the three.

So in the end, my assumeptions are that the second player being a mere 'henchman', he/she would only gain gold, exp and renown based on how it's set. Though this system isn't as glamorous as the original concept seemed, it's still going to be a very delicious feature!

I guess this is more like my thoughts, with the intent that anyone can jump in and proove me otherwise.

    Thanks for reading,

Re: A few questions reguarding co-op.

I was just about to start a thread on henchmen but you beat me to it, so here are my questions.

Henchmen, who pays them and what if they die?

I’m confused if we don’t get money for adventuring, then giving a henchman a % of the take makes no scenes. Huh? [:^)] Your character would have to pay, and do we pay per kill or per hour.   The ease that players cheated the economy system in fable 1 was its main downfall, and I would think LH would have learned their lesson from it. Rolleyes []

If henchman is defeated I wonder if we can heal them like we do the dog, and if henchman deaths carry over back to their own world.(I hope they do)

I believe in capitalism even thou I’m bad at it.

According to one of the GDC videos (I think it was the one from gamevideos.com)  it will be possible to gift items to co-op players.

You pay gold per hour to the henchman and i think you'll still get money from side quests rather just not the maain quest (maybe)

Re: A few questions reguarding co-op.

on Guild Wars you didnt pay the henchmen anything but instead they took a share of the money loot. they were still a waste of time though because they used their skills all in the wrong order and they sometimes used to run off accidentally aggroeing a 20 strong mob.

but obv you dont get money in Fable 2 as easily as you do in GW so that idea has already probably been rendered obselite. to be honest though i never used henchmen in the original one never mind the prospect of using them in F2.

Re: A few questions reguarding co-op.

It might not require you to pay the henchman at all.  Having a setable wage is also an option, though I don't want to lose any money while I play with my friends.  It might just have the game give you money as an incentive to play in somebody elses game.  (and it sounds cooler if you can say your a profesional henchman)

You don't get what you deserve. You get what you can bear.

I'm going to be honest. This feature would be cool, but allowing higher level players to basically do what WoW does and let people run them through the entire game on easy mode would ruin the hard work and effot Lionhead has put into the production of the game. Frankly, it would just be like having a God Mode for a game that i really wanted to be immersed in, challenged by, and appreciate.

It may just be me, but that temptation would ruin the game for me.Tongue Tied [:S]

Re: A few questions reguarding co-op.

Actually for me, it would just a single quest, not a full game. If somebody wanted help with the full game, well, they'd surely reconsider. I'd ask for 100% of the gold they make, 100% of the renown, and 100% of the exp. Trust me, I'm sure nobody would actually consider that.

And if somebody actually does make a deal like that, well, then we know what they actually are...achivement whores.

Peter was asked about that in an interview actually.  Somebody brought up the problems of cheating but Peter said, "If you're the kind of hero who likes to cheat who am I to stop you?"

Don't want somebody to hold your hand through the entire game?  You don't have to.  Want a high level character to play through the entire game with you?  Go ahead.

    Co-op and other queries/suggestions

Will there be more than two player co-op? And what happens if the two players on screen get too far apart?

I think that, especially with being able to flick between different styles of weapons easily (melee, ranged, magic), that opening the inventory and map should not pause the rest of the game. I also think that with co-op, only one person should have a map, to encourage co-operation. And maybe also harder monsters and dungeons are unlocked when another person comes in.

    Re: Co-op and other queries/suggestions

PM hasn't said anything about online co-op just couch (but im pretty sure he'll add it in) but he did explain wut happens with the camera: both characters are on the screen yes and the camera will be kinda like Lego star wars if youve played that

    Re: Co-op and other queries/suggestions

More than two player co-op?  Do you mean like more players or online play?

Peter Molyneux has said so far he has only showed us 50% of the co-op stuff, so most people are guessing the other 50% is online player, but who knows.  Wink [;)]

As for the too far getting apart thing, as the user above pointed out it will probably be similar to Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, but I'm sure a lot better.  If you want to see the co-op in action, take a look at this video here.  Peter starts talking about co-op and plays with it at around 4 minutes 20 seconds.  Wink [;)]

    Re: Co-op and other queries/suggestions

I don't like how you can invite someone into your game world and they can kill your husband/wife and orphan your child and all you can do is stand there and watch. Peter's response to this is, "you have to be careful who you invite" or something along the lines of that. That kind of stuff makes me not want to play co-op with anyone.

Im pretty sure that the person whos inviting people into the game can choose certain restrictions, and if you turn "friendly fire" off  they cant hurt you or your family. So you shouldnt have to worry about people murdering your family.Smily [:)]

Yes, the host can turn a safety on making it where guests cannot kill the host's family.  Here is an article that confrims that.  Wink [;)]
