Actually, now that I think about it and have actually seen it, it's a great idea. Being able to turn it off is a very call. Much better than a minimap in my opinion, radars are for army games.
And if what Moonfever said is true (it fades away if you continue on the path) then it wont be intrusive at all.

It's actually based on the importance of where it is you're going, what you're doing, etc.  The trail can be amazingly hard to see and barely visible or it can be rather bright.  It really just depends on what you're doing.  The main thing to remember is that it's dynamic.

Thanks Mort for that bit of information. I had it a little wrong it seems. The way you describe it makes more sense. I thought if you wandered off of the main trail, it would dim some.
