Since when is it not possible to have an opinion? I have alot of RTS from the popular ones to less ones and never did I ever see a succesfull RTS to RPG ( exculding warcraft 3, but that has RPG elements ). Yust some camera rewriting? And controlls? Yes that is quite easy. But to have fighting and doing jobs in the game? Nope dont think that would be very possible. I do agrea that it would be fun to yust have a citizen whom you can controll and see from his eyes, nothing more.
well it wont be rewritten if made by an advanced programer... and if you read my post:
     Quoting: 3d-master
It just needs camera rewriting and some control addons and maybe a master file to control it. The rest is fluff to make it more fun
the fluff is the woodchopping, harvesting, fighting, that stuff No offence to you at all by saying that, just explaining myself :P

I do play sims 2 sometimes so i want this. Lmao. Also no it does not involve rewriting the game idiot. Ever notice a folder called plugins? Humm... and a bunch of empty folders because of the .stuff is read for the missing files. I wonder i wonder... I think he can just write an addon and place it on. He did say this will take serious time. It wont involve much rewriting since all he needs to do is tell the game to include his files. It just needs camera rewriting and some control addons and maybe a master file to control it. The rest is fluff to make it more fun
It would involve rewriting the camera and controls. Maybe he can then plug them into the plugins folder, but he would still need to start from somewhere. I doubt he could write the files from scratch, nor would it be efficient too. Your definition of "rewriting" seems to be off from ours. We are not talking about *overwriting* the game files, but rewriting the rules of the game. Of course the plugins folder might be one of the many things that got cut..its utility anyway, so overwriting might be the only way to implement this mod. though I would be suprised if it ever saw the light of day.

The fact that this guy's been working on it "For about a month now" seems a little strange to me.

    Re: live a villagers life

can we get a direct SS of this man? all in all it seems kinda off to me, i mean the fact that someone could do all this in such a short period of time. give us at least a few recognizable first person screen shots other then just looking across the ground at a wall or something. I'd like soem real proff this is being done.

How did your friend get all the tools for scripting and everything before we even got a modding forum?

Sorry but I got to call a B.S. Alert here. If you know enough about the game and have all these tools available then why did you post such a newbish modding question that I answered? http://boards.lionhead.com/showthread.php?t=103591

    Re: live a villagers life

I didn't see anything like this being suggested, but what about making a Dungeon Keeper style option? Where you can simply click on a villager and it will switch to a "Villager's View" then you can exit back in to the normal "God's View". Anyone know where I'm coming from?

    Re: live a villagers life

I've suggested it for as much as a half a year before the game was released... I've also requested an early version of this mod that does just that, but I think it would be difficult because they would have to extract that specific code and then retest for bugs since they're only using partial coding... I seriously want that though. I know I can just zoom down close to the ground, but my rotate always has a pivot point that is like half a kilometer to several kilometers away from the camera so it's not so easy to move about at villager height.
