Looks great, Sharper. I've often thought that creating an animal with human-like facial features, as the animated-film makers often do, must be one of the hardest arts to master, but you've really cracked it here.

    Check out the mods here.

I appreciate the comment Big Smile [:D] , I've been trying to study how most CG cartoon's do it... I'm hoping that I'm kind of catching on.

Re: 3D - Post it all here

I haven't posted here in such a long time, so heres some stuff i've been working on.

The dumpster is for a mod called Insurgency, and the wild west stuff is for a college project. I have to do a level within the unreal engine, but im thinking of switching the theme.

I haven't done the normal map or the spec for this yet, looks alittle flat I know.

And now some of the Wild West work, these are the last two buildings i've done and a overall shot of the town as it stands now.

    http://uploads.dodart.net/uploads/Inn_WIP-2.jpg
    A small inn building.

    http://uploads.dodart.net/uploads/BuildingS.jpg
    Just a random small building.

    http://uploads.dodart.net/uploads/Layoutshot.jpg

The town layout as it stands now.

Also some Assets i've done too.

    http://uploads.dodart.net/uploads/BarrelsDisplay.jpg
    Barrels, with textures.

    http://uploads.dodart.net/uploads/Tower-Renders.jpg
    Water tower with a texture.

    http://uploads.dodart.net/uploads/Render_ww.jpg
    Old render of the assets.

Any feedback on my work would be great, thanks everyone for taking the time to view my work.

Re: 3D - Post it all here

G o o d [Good] to see so many people trying out 3d art. This will be my first post on this forum however so greetings everyone.

I'm working on a Module for Neverwinter Nights 2 at the moment called Stygius so I figured I'd post some of the models I've been developing for that. We've got a dev blog at http://stygius.com/blog so feel free to head there to read up on the project as well.

Here is a familiar creature as well as a couple of NPCs, hair hasnt been added to them yet however. Both NPCs use 1024x1024 textures, defuse, normal and alpha for specular.

    Agrona:

    concept:

    Model:

    Gerrard the smith:

    Turtle: (700tris)

There are quite a few other models in the works as well, however don't want to spoil anything for potential players in the future.

Re: 3D - Post it all here

    Great work everyone!

I got a copy of Max a few weeks ago and have made a few models, but I dont seem to be able to post them..

I've got to the stage where I want to UV my creations, but I dont have any 2d packages(other than paint!)

Has anyone got any advice on what to get? Photoshop, painter etc

    thanks

Re: 3D - Post it all here

    Hello Garageflower.
Personally I would advice you to use Photoshop over any other package for texturing. Or a combination of it and an UV paiting software or zBrush. Even though Painter have some great features when it comes to illustrations etc. doing textures often requires a lot of layer control which no 2d package I've experienced can match. If you're looking for a cheap alternative there is always OpenCanvas, however it does go more towards Painter in design and unless you're looking for a painted look on your models, it probably wouldnt cut it. Paint shop pro is another cheaper alternative, which is more simular to Photoshop in design, meaning it has better layer manipulation features than Painter and OpenCanvas. Hope this helped at all.

    Thanks Jonnyree

Thats the kind of advice I was after - I've been debating getting Photoshop, but I wasn't sure, and I didn't want waste my money.

Do you know whether all the editions are suitable? Or do I need to go for the high end version?

So we had kind of a test in school where we got 2 hours to make a humvee, as you can see the texture is messed up some places but it's G o o d [Good] work for only 2 hours.

Re: 3D - Post it all here

Just started this scene yesterday so of course not done :

And i want this fat viking (that i have worked on for some time then got bored of and stopped with) to sit in the bathtub - this is not just tubgirl - it is tub viking.

Oh and notice clouds sword rip off in the background. Big Smile [:D]

The metal however still looks like crap and the wall texture is fucked (but nice bump mapping on the lower part of the wall )
