What bothers me is that I haven't been able to get my sig and avvy...it's been over 10 minutes :(

You sure you hit the radio button for "Enable Avatar" - I missed that first time around after uploading mine.

The sig is almost showing ;-)

Well I got the avatar working, missed that "Update" button sadly Stick out tongue [:P]

The sig and the User Title won't freaking update though Sad [:(]

I could have sworn I had 890+ karma before the change sam ... unless I missed a massive de-rep before the change :p but what do I care since there is no more rep system! :p :o

It isn't Good [Good] when you had 10 rep before the change Stick out tongue [:P]

One thing I'd change, is the smileys, as they aint as simple as before. Sad [:(]

Are there going to be PM popups again Sam? I always liked those a lot - kept me from needing to check my PM box. Also will there be a Reply button for a general reply to the thread? Sometimes you don't want to reply to a specific post. Edit: Lol, I just got a mail from the server saying I got a PM from Satan. A bit late though, seeing as I had already read it. ;)

Yeah ravek, I find that the strangest thing (no reply button on the thread itself). I have this habbit of clicking "reply" and when my mouse goes down to the bottom right there's nothing there. Stick out tongue [:P]

    It's weird.

I like the fact that the replies rather than quoting the message sets it up like a thread, works better that way I think! :)

But I am with Ravek on the pop-ups thing, I didn't realise he had PMd me till like 15 minutes later ... :o when normally there would be an instant pop-up message that I could then choose to ignore ;)

On a side note, to do with the post widths, I know that there is a scroller bar at the bottom if a picture you post in a post is too wide, but is it possible for the post to rather than keep the same width and force you to scroll adjust its width so that the whole picture is on there ... it took sweaty (and so I guess a few others) a long time to realise there was a scroll bar to move the post horizontally and so see the rest of a picture ;)

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

For me,I expect these forums will be an acquired taste to put it one way. Right now I prefer the old ones but that'll change, probably.

EDIT: Another thing I posted in the OT thread, this site seems more business like, but old LH was more relaxed. I was even talking like I was in an interview then, lol.

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

First impressions are that it looks promising and I really like what I'm seeing :) I agree with UG that it still looks more professional, but after so long with the old forums that's probably to be expected - can we get rid of those icons along the top of the posts and just have them as text?

    I have two main niggles:

    1. The quick reply doesn't seem to let me preview (although I can preview if I edit a post). It's possible I'm missing some big obvious button somewhere, but it was nice to be able to quick reply and then decide to preview half-way through. It also doesn't make it easy to read back through the last few replies to remember everything you wanted to cover.

Update: I've spotted the big "reply" button at the top of the posts now. Hidden away there ;) It would be nice to be able to switch to preview from quick reply still however, or view the last few posts when posting a reply.

    2. The profiles on the left are already getting a little crowded. Who needs to know our old karma exactly *cough* ;), and the join dates are still dodgy if you joined pre-bwgame I'm guessing (?). Do we really need to keep them if we already know people were 'former mk' or whatever else?

Edit: And don't keep a log of every time we've edited a post. My posts will look like spaghetti junction by the time I've finished polishing :D Can you give us a 5-10 minute grace period or something, or at least keep it down to a 'ast edited' function.

I agree. I don't see the point in knowing whether someone had X amount of rep, it doesn't matter.

Also I don't get the Top X contributor thing ... oh wait I already said that before Stick out tongue [:P]

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

Well, so far so Good [Good]. I'm not too quick to judge new things, so I'll just have to wait and see how this goes on. I'm pretty much on the same issue as Atchoo is, except that I want a dark red colour (8b0000) added, asap! :p

    MJ iz out!

Edit: And yes, the ammount of rep we had (ammount still dodgy though, I had past 700 at least) and the contributing part. I'd rather have a post ammount, and not a contributing ammount, as that is a word which clearly doesn't warrant people who haven't done much for the community. So, if there's no real contribution system, I'd say go back with posts :)

rep does seem to eb a bid dodgy, aye... even if less than entirely relevant now, I lost over 30 points in the transition somehow. :(

Doesn't this contributing business encourage spam?

First are impressions are quite bad I'm afraid. Stick out tongue [:P]

But I'm sure with time I'll get used to it and love it again. It's like moving to a really funky house, that you never saw before. It certainly wasn't what I had in mind.

But my mummy always taught me never to judge a book by it's cover, so here goes nothing! :)

Not sure if this is  just something they haven't finished doing yet (they being the dev team that left the LH building at about 23:30 today) ... but I appear to have lost my studio page link under my username ... :o

As you can imagine I am very attached to the studio page link ... it was how I showed people I was a TMO nub! :o

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

I have been browsing through the forums now for a few minutes, and already noticed several things that I don't like. I have been discussing them with various people over skype, and some seem to like them even less than myself. Angry []

Here is a short list of just a few of the things I dislike about the new site:

1: The "former MK" and "former HK" badges, and also showing how much rep you used to have. I think that rep should just be left out, not what rep we had before should be kept. And on a side note, mine was at 183, not 132. Rolleyes [] There is now no way for me to gain one, which will cause unequality forever between those who were MK/HK, and those who never quite got there. I really do not care about rep, but it seems unfair that some should have it, and others should not. I know that some former MKs and HKs will disagree with me, but that some will not.

2: The "new posts" button has disappeared. That was my most used feature before the move, and now its gone, so I have to search the forums individually, when I could have got just as much information in one click before. This also means that it will be harder to find the magical migrating thread, and certain members will stick to certain parts of the forum. I have found the "posts you have not read" button, but it is not there to take me directly from a particular thread.

3: The way posts are made has changed, and I liked the old way much more than this, when you could see in the same window what you were replying to. It made it much easier to quote more people in your post.

4: The new forums don't look as Good [Good]. Some may disagree with me, but I personally think they look worse. And someone I have been speaking with on skype described them as looking like they have been "done by some freewebs program." Loooks are not something I am personally too bothered about, but I did find the old ones much easier on the eye.

5: The fact that you need a windows live ID to sign in. This doesnt bug me so much, but someone on skype is having trouble getting back onto the boards, as he can't manage to register his windows live ID account. He has one, but can't seem to make it work for some reason or another.

6: On some older threads, all the spaces where a new line would have been, they have gone. This means that it has become huge bundles of text, which is not to Good [Good] on the eye. (I'm not sure if new lines will work in this post, so I have made each number bold as well, just so that it is obvious where each point starts.

7: I'm finding it difficult to locate my old threads. This may be me missing something, but I have only been able to find them by browsing the forums in question.

8: I don't see the movies studio logos beneath people's avatars anymore (yes, I did actually use those.)

I would go on, but I'm sure that I am among the minority that do not like these new boards. I would go as far to say that I was more impressed the first time I saw the old boards than the first time I saw these, by a lot. These have not impressed me at all. I saw no need for improvement in the first place.

Hopefully, I'll be able to adjust, and maybe even grow to like them, but as they are, I don't. Sleep [|-)]
