Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

I'm still trying to adjust to the new layout but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Overall, it does feel somewhat different but the more I begin to use these boards, the more I'll comment on and share opinions about them.

I'll come back later to give a full opinion but for now, it looks quite nice. :) Nice work! Glasses [8)]

Seems to be a selectable option disabled by default?

Ooo, I appear to have lost all my previous statuses.

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

Well I was shocked when I saw what happened to the look of these boards, and I hate it since being used to the old boards for so long, this new look and layout is too fancy but I can't expect Microsoft not to put their hands on it since they own Lionhead, but maybe it will grow on me in time but for now I have the annoying task of getting used to all the new crap that has been added and changed not to mention the difficulty of navigating through the boards to the thread I want. Sad [:(]

    But that's my opinion.

EDIT: But hey, you can now edit posts without the limit and therefore eliminating double posting. Smile [:)]

    More whining:

I just entered the Post new thread page on Site Feedback to see if there was anything new. I didn't see anything, so I pressed back while the text editor was still loading, and I got an AJAX error: unterminated string literal.

It sent me to an error page with this text:

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

Hmm.... Seems brighter than the old forum. Not sure if I like or dislike that, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I can see I'm going to have to turn the brightness down on my monitor when I'm hungover, though....

The speed is currently cripplingly slow, although I'm sure that's being worked on. Also, the search tools are really pretty basic, aren't they? Any chance of getting something more akin to the previous advanced ones? Mind you, I've not played about with them for more than a minute or two, so it's unfair of me to pass comment just yet.

Oh, and I think quite a few timestamps for last posts are out of whack, so many threads are out of order...?

However, considering the volume that's been transfered here, Good [Good] job all round - impressive stuffSmile [:)] I'll have a proper look tomorrow after sleep...

Re: The New Community Site: Feedback

Hmm, old forum, new forum, ....old forum new forum......old forum....new forum.......At the end of the day a forum is a forum. I'm sure this new one will lack some of the original forums quirks but also bring in some new features. It seems to do the job and look quite Good [Good] at the same time. I think folks just need to get used to the new forums idiosyncrocies. ( i do miss the link to studios though and 'who's online) Look pretty cool to me Ogre [:ogre:] (never saw that smiley before he he )

    cheers

I think the timestamps attached to the old threads is of when it was created instead of when it was last posted in. I noticed that in the RP Forum the most.

I like it, the top is beautiful. Also brighter, think I like a bit darker, but it is clean.
Going to take getting used to, and I bet there are a few new things that we haven't figured out about yet. Smile [:)]

Oh, question: why do some people have a "Joined on" thing and others don't?

It takes more time to hit the [] buttons to get Wink [;)] than it does to type Tired [:tired:] for me .. so I could well be a bit more grumpy ...

Why do the text smilies work without the brackets but the ;) ones don't?

you know, I don't get why there's no pointer or text blinker thingy when you first click to reply to a post. After you start typing it apparently shows up.

I'm also at a loss as to why people hate the smilies so much. They're all right next to you to click. It's just a matter of getting into the habbit of clicking rather than typing.

But this smilie doesn't match at all Stick out tongue [:P] >>>Whisper [:-*]

Oh well list of things i dont like :

That you cant make smileys the old way.
That Last Post feature is incorrect.
The quick reply is fugly and clumpsy.
That there is no button for making [*img] tags.
I cant figure out how to make a search for all my threads.
That it says RE in top off all replies and it is so big (Like we didnt know it was a reply)

Sorry for sounding like a ***, i would love the new forums with some fixes. :)
