Re: Dimitri - Fact or Fiction?

    Mahna:
This game just sounds like the Sims so far though.

But the Sims with an AI so G o o d [Good] that it would be on Scientific America or Nature?

Those are two huge science journals, and if the breakthrough is that profound then I do wonder what his band of merry men have managed to achieve ...

    Speculation:

You are born and then you go about "educating" yourself as you grow, teaching yourself how to interact, how to behave. The AI learns this ... I mean an AI that learns for real would be something that would get in a science magazine for sure ...

It does sound like it's a The Sims type affair, but after the creature in Black & White and the Dog in Fable 2, then I really think this is going to be focused about a more Tamagochi esque idea but with the AI to rope you in and give you a connection to the creature/person you create ...

Mind you that said, I am just wondering what the next thing PM has been working on is, wont be dissapointed by anything as I think I own every game he's ever sold commercially ... lol Stick out tongue [:P]

The name for the next game is called "Secret Project:Confidential". Not the best of names but i suppose it could be cool.

Probably some sought of a spy game with a name like that.

It is in the top right corner-- > http://www.lionhead.com/AllProjects.aspx

Yes,I know. It is not a game...

If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. Then again you can just post in here i suppose ->

thats called "the room" and im pretty sure later he said that he was just showing off a project for a poet or something and wont be made into anything ,but i must say that is probably one of the coolest things ive seen ,especially visually

Looks like a physics engine to me, more than a game, as they used Havoc for Fable 2 I wouldn't be too surprised to find that they were building Porject X around a physics engine based on The Room ...

Probably totally wrong though Wink [;)]

What I'd love to see is people from companies like Lionhead using XNA Game Studio for prototyping some interesting demos and then putting them up on Community Games for everyone to play with.

Re: Dimitri - Fact or Fiction?

Well F2 is out now ... and the community will be buzzing for comments on the new project.

I mean, project confidential is just there to juice up everybody's attention anyway.

So I expect small clues or hints in the coming months but we'll have to wait for the F2 aftermath before we get an official comment or announcement.

Whatever they are doing on the Blue room is going to remain hush hush for a couple of weeks more.

My guess on what they are doing on the F2 floor is still F2 related ... eventually some DLC, maybe patches ... they need to make an evaluation of the game's success (or not) and decide how they will proceed ...

Will there be a TLC or will they make a PC version ... what improvements do we carry on to F3, etc, ...

Yes,I know. It is not a game...

Underneath it talks about "Lionhead Created the earth. An AI experiment gone wrong but it'll have to do."

Perhaps a further nod in the direction of AI controlled characters, As suggested by Teucer:
You could interact with somebodys character, see them and their world, without the necessity of them being online. It would be something like Second Life with a more persistant world. AI characters taking over for real people would allow people to 'relive their life.' Imagine something as ubiquitous as facebook or myspace and then everyone was on an MMO, all the time.

This would indeed be a massive leap but doesn't really link in the tech demo "The Room", perhaps this really was just a technical demonstration or maybe it has been in planning to take advantage of the new PhysX cards available?

    dawesbr:
I've been thinking (this is a huge hope of mine) that Dimitri is Black and White 3. It could possibly play out like spore, with interaction on either a global scale or a street-level thing...if only.

    Ho-hum.
I have never played Black and White. My laptop can't handle computer games. I wish they would though, for those of you that want it so bad.Sad [:(]
I have seen some really old film on Demitri, and all the furniture is so realistically movable, in the room. Quite blows my mind. Big Smile [:D] Like a real life.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that Lion Head was going to release more information on this game at GDC. Hopefully they stop dicking us around soon and just give us something already.

I like the idea of AI that learns or can really feel.
I wish Lionhead would release The Room as just some online demo thing to play with, looks absolutely incredible even in its current state.

o things can someone please explain what E3 is. and what channel? (like G4, cnn, MTV, ESPN type of channel)

and i hope the AI in this is really smart. sort of like the terminator. the only thing with this AI is that if this is an online game i don't want the characters in my game to screw with my router or mess up my xbox if i get them angry lol.

but seriously i hope, since peter said this is a game about you and your life, you get to make your character like in sims and then you give them as mush of a detailed figure as you can (physical feature, behavior, and personality). i hope this game is a game that you play the life you have and you are able to change things from the game. and as the time goes on you change and the people around you change depending on what you have done.

peter is this game turns out to be what you make it out to be i will worship you as my god (and that is meaning something because i don't believe in god)

E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo. Its basically where all the cool new games are shown off and there is a show floor for people to play and watch game demoes. its not a tv show (obviously as it is an event) but you can see updates on nearly every big gaming site like gamespot, ign, kotaku, gametrailers, etc.
