    Fable 2 collector's edition petition

After my last successful petition for the Bioshock CE, I now started a petition for a collector's edition of Fable 2, since I found already multiple postings about a CE in this forum.

We had great experiences with how 2K Games accepted the Bioshock petition and it was nice that the community and the publisher discussed the content details of a collector's edition afterwards.

So far, Microsoft hasn't confirmed or denied a collector's edition of Fable 2, but it needs some time for planning anyway. Maybe Microsoft will as well follow a wish of the fans if we show the proper demand for a collector's edition. As with Bioshock, details could be discussed later on.

Like the last petition, this one is again hosted at PetitionOnline.com. You sign with your e-mail address and I can't tell what happen's with it, since I am the author and not the host.

The link is the following one:

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

Has there been a AAA game on 360 yet that didn't get a collector's edition? I certainly can't think of one. I'm sure the petetion went down very well at 2K, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn they had one in the works all along. One trap I hope they don't fall into is putting the game into some out of place tin. If you're a genuine collector of 360 titles then the title you're actually going to want is the green DVD case that is the definitive article of the game's release. Instead I'd be much more inclined to pay the extra if it was an addition like the Big Daddy figure, but please, no tins.

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

Yes, that was my aim as with the Bioshock CE petition: Dragging attention to the fans, to hopefully decide what is going to be in.

It felt like most games released by Microsoft with a limited edition included a tin case only and some extras like a bonus cd with documentary and old trailers. That doesn't justify the extra money in my opinion.

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

To be honest, they don't really require a collectors edition for F2... It's just a way for game manufacturers to make some extra money. They could just cram all the G o o d [Good] stuff into Fable 2 itself and not leave anything out... Kinda like one of those 'Innocent Smoothies'Cheeky [:cheeky:]

Edit:    I applied to the petition anyway, for your sake.Indifferent [:|]

This is certainly what I think, saying 'it was the fans' got them a bunch of G o o d [Good] PR for something I'm sure they were already doing.

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

Quite so. The thing 2K did that I liked the most was releasing seperate items for collector's like the art book, if Fable 2 had this sort of thing I'd certainly want to buy it, doubly so if it were a soundtrack CD. I don't really need to be persuaded by lumping things together into a package deal.

Yep, that is possible. Another arguementwas that the needful signature bar was so insanely low and the whole process went so fast.

@tokie: And of course you can say that CE/LEs are just a way to earn even more money with a game, but if those special versions contain attractive material for customers, why should anyone bother?

Possible contents for a CE are surely a selection of the following:

    • Exclusive in-game content (items, armour, houses, dogs)
    • Collectable figurines, hero with dog dioramas, key chains, coins
    • Decorative stuff like a wallscroll, poster, cloth map of Albion
    • A Fable 2 artbook
    • A soundtrack cd
    • Special appealing packaging
    • More in depth documentory/making of footage (although video diaries were enough in my opinion)
    • Digital content like avatars, desktop wallpapers, screensavers, 360 dashboard themes/gamerpics (mostly dull, since you can get it everywhere from the net, apart from the 360 stuff)

all G o o d [Good] ideas in my opinion, but I would, also, love if they did what Lost Odyssey is doing in the UK, and include 1000 Microsoft point cards in it. I live a G o o d [Good] distance away from anywhere I can get points and I can't use a credit card right now so it would be awfully convenient if the game that I want to buy and DLC for includes some money to do so.

It's HMV that are doing the point card thing.

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

Or they could do what Ubisoft did for Assassin's Creed and put a regular case inside the tin. That was a really G o o d [Good] idea! I hate those weird pullouts or folded cardstock they sometimes put in cases..

I would really love to have a Fable 2 artbook. If they don't make a mini one that is given away, they should totally sell one, such as with a guide or something. Maybe they could have a replica of whatever special item or thing within the game, since everyone's character will be different so a figurine of the main character wouldn't work.

Special in-game content is always awesome, and that is usually the most attractive thing (to me), as long as its something worth having in the game. In any case, I'm planning on getting the CE despite whats in it, hopefully it wont be more than $69.99 Stick out tongue [:P]

All G o o d [Good] apart from the idea of exclusive in game content, all you do is divide the players into haves and have-nots, the former inevitably are dissappointed with what they get and the latter become resentful for dropping 40 quid on a game and being told it's not G o o d [Good] enough to get the whole product. If you create additional content later and have it as DLC then fair enough, but divying up your product at day one is a horrible practice.

Yea, sorry, my bad.  It is HMV, but they are doing it with Lost Odyssey is what I meant.  Still I got your attention, and it isn't a bad idea is it?  eh?  Big Smile [:D]

no, but seriously, for somebody like me who has only bought like 5 pieces of DLC throughout the whole of having my 360 (since launch), it would be a great incentive to go buy more, making you guys more money.  How 'bout it? lol

by the way, all but once, the points cards were given to me so I only have bought one points card.

Also, Kris, I agree that Ubisoft had a brilliant idea with the plastic case inside of the tin.  Not only does it give you both, but I use the tin to hold games when I go to a house, so I don't worry about dropping one.

I think it would be G o o d [Good] to have exclusive content for the CE that either was completely useless, just for show, or would be useful and come up on XBLM a month or two later for a cheap price.

Exclusive in-game content like JUST one additional item/object would not change the overall experience of the game. I don't believe Lionhead would put a I-kill-everything-living-in-one-second wand into a CE.

Apart from that - why not put some in-game objects in, which are exclusive and can be bought by other players later on at XBL for let's say 300 MPs? Altough I think Lost Planet LE owners got pissed, the exclusive online map was released for everyone afterwards.

@Woody: hehe, but then you will have to count us in for deciding about the content. You don't want to be responsible for a bad collector's edition, right Wink [;)]?

Well I don't see how signing could hurt anything so why argue? Just sign and lets see what happens. Besides I'd like to get a Fable 2 artbook ((off e-bay for cheap of course cause I'm like that)). And the more people that sign the more likely they'll add extra things to the collectors addition even if they have one in progress.

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

I really don't think they should put exclusive in-game content in it. If anything, just save the game content for DLC. Imagine putting down the extra $10 for the CE to get the content and then two weeks later, everyone else has it, except they paid less then you did.

I would actually like to see a gold coin or a keychain, or both.Stick out tongue [:P]

An artbook is always a great idea and hell, I'd kill for a soundtrack.Wink [;)]

Speacial packaging is always part of a CE, so that's a given, same with "Making of" footage.

And yes, they should throw in themes/gamerpics.

yea, but kit, you are paying $10 extra for the DLC and everythin else that comes with the CE.  If it is a G o o d [Good] amount of content, the others may spend $10 for just the content.

Re: Fable 2 collector's edition petition

I have been looking forward to Fable 2 since I finished Fable 1
I will certainly buy the Collectors Edition
    BUT
the thing that attracts me most to a CE is if it has extra content. Even the most minimalist things. I am a compleationist.
I bought the CE of LOTR:BFME2 PC just because you got more stuff in it.

IF they do Extra content they should have these:
-a sword that you can only get from the game called the CE and is more of a show off thing
    -a different dog type/color
    or
    -clothes, lots of clothes
actually I would like an extra pub game included
